Great store to pick up new or used records at good prices. Very knowledgeable owner.
True indie record shop, great selection, great prices on used vinyl, selection of new vinyl, & rare stuff on the wall. On a good day you can find some first pressings or foreign pressings, whatever your into. The CD selection is always full of good stuff & always priced well, same goes for DVDs. Plus VHS & tape if thats your thing. Excellent place to talk music and build up your collection. Dont go to old town without stopping at the Works!
Great service, great atmosphere, super chill, my 14 year old loves going there to look for records 🤙
Best Music Shop in the Humboldt County Area..I make trips up here from the San Francisco Area to check it out.Fantastic selection, Outstanding Service.Music includes Vinyl - new and vintage, CDs, Blu-ray, posters, patches, stickers, books, magazines, and much much more.Get there !!
This place is small town people with big city service 👍👍👍 if they aint gottit, theyll gettit, and service is more than excellent.
Best lil record shop in town!
Great selection of movies and music, including hard to find items. Incredible prices, a wide selection, and great customer service makes this one of (if not) my favorite stores in Old Town.
This place has a great selection and very well priced. Most importantly, the owner is personable and knowledgeable about music. Make sure this is a stop when you drop into town. Ive made it a destination every time Ive come up here on vacation.
Ive been coming to the Works since I was 13 and first developed a love for Led Zeppelin and vinyl records. I dont listen to much classic rock anymore, but thats alright, Bandon always has some cool stuff from almost every genre available, on CD, cassette, and vinyl. The shop might not be as big as it used to be, but that just means they cut down on the filler, leaving the gems for your listening pleasure. Even when I was a broke teenager, I always managed to scrounge up a few bucks to buy some tapes or a CD at the Works. Bandon is an awesome guy with an awesome taste, and theres always something amazing to be found in the Works.
This used to be such an awesome record store! They carried a nice selection of lesser known, off the wall bands and I could actually have a conversation with the staff about these bands. Since they moved, their selection has down sized dramatically! Plus, their employee on staff was blaring Kiss... Come on! Kiss? Really? I cant have a serious conversation about music with someone who is surrounded by music and chooses to blare Kiss. Im bummed out.
I have been shopping at the Works for years! Great local gem in Humboldt County! Friendly & knowledgeable staff, great selection, and good prices too! Although i usually buy new vinyl, sometimes i dig through the used bins and have found some real nice classics!
Looked specifically for The Blues Music. They had a large selection. Owner, Bandit, can give you information on any music you are looking for. Hes a great guy.
Extremely rad store with a lot of history. Excellent selection of vinyl, cds and tapes with a vast range of everything at VERY fair prices. The owner and his friends (employees) are knowledgeable and helpful as well.
Pretty good music shop, they dont have too much of a diverse range of music. (next to no metal albums). If your into jazz, or blues this is your place. If your into Heavy Metal like me, go to Peoples Records in arcata
I always find some cool music there!
Great records, local events tix.
Just reading these reviews, you can see how they really cant accurately rate this place. You can come to this conclusion before going to the works. I see one giving three stars apparently because the works was closed when it should have been open. Now, I doubt they closed because they wanted to. And if they did, isnt that the Humboldt way? So you cant take these reviews without some salt. Pink Himalayan salt even. Sea salt; the most grainy of salts. On to my review. I have spent hundreds at the works on vinyl and I will spend hundreds more. I like the place, I like the chill atmosphere, and I feel welcomed and appreciated. They have an okay selection on vinyl. The jazz section is a gem and no one buys them but me. I would like a bigger selection still, however. That goes for all generes. Id like a bigger new vinyl selection as well. This place, notwithstanding, gets 5 stars because these ratings mean nothing and i have no legitimate reason to give less. In my opinion, all places deserve 5 stars unless there is good reason. Id give the peoples records the same amount, yet I like their selection more overall. The works is a local business run by a local man with a life and family to support. Ive gone there and its been closed for some reason. Ive gone and I didnt like what I found and left. I came back. Five stars for a place deserving it. Now take the salt.
The place has a kind of atmosphere that is no longer exist in record stores. I just wanted to stay forever...
The Best records and cds in Old town 🎼
Good selection of music and a very knowledgeable helpful staff.
This is a good record store. I come here 1-2 times a week and have had very good luck finding gems almost every time (like jaw dropping, gasping in shock type good finds). The owner is very nice, helpful and loves sharing new music based on what I like. I have only one criticism: the selection is not as enormous as an Amoeba Records store.. This is Eureka, CA. A relatively small town in Humboldt! I give them 5-stars because these guys are doing one hell of a job working with whats available in a small town. Location is REALLY good: right around the corner from Mantovas 2nd St. Music Store (who are also super helpful, family run, always trying to accommodate to my requests). Stays chill on ARTS ALIVE nightMuch appreciation and love!
Great record store. Not sure why they werent open at 6:15pm when hours say open until 7pm.
Woul love live streaming of events for those of us far away physically!
Great selection, diverse and full of hidden gems. May not be the largest but worth digging if youve got the time.
On a vacation up from SF, I lucked into finding Bandon and The Works. I walk in and find 2 Racer X cds on the cheap, in the doorway. The real gem was finding a copy of Octavarium by Dream Theater, AUTOGRAPHED BY THE WHOLE BAND FOR A DOLLAR! I did not even make it through the whole store before the wife came to peel me from the store. Awesome stock, Bandon is a great guy and will take care of you if you need anything. Spending a little more money is easy in this shop. I wish SF had a shop with the personal touch of The Works. Aquarius is as close as you may get in the City. A must stop and shop if you are in Eureka, California.
Tunes! Great spot.
Awesome record store
Always has what I need it doesnt bleed.
I love the store
Best!
