Went to buy some boots today. The one employee handling all of the shoe department was spread too thin. It would have been nice if a few of the extra employees standing by the front door upstairs would have come down to help. She did the best she could and was pleasant.

Staff is helpful and most time’s knowledgeable. All your outdoor hunting and fishing needs. Outdoor clothing for all seasons. They even have nurses uniforms. I love the selection of shoes and boots. They have a nice selection of outdoor travel bags, duffles and backpacks. It’s great that they have carhartt, north face and many top name brand clothing. If your planning an outdoor weekend getaway, Prospector’s is the place to shop for all your outdoor clothing needs. My Son I lost last year Loved prospectors!!

Forget every other place!I went to a few different places looking for a quality coat, that didnt leave my wallet begging for mercy, but I stopped searching when I came to prospector. They had tons of options, from tons of different brands. Now it sounds like it could be overwhelming, but with the right helper, you will be leaving the store knowing you got exactly what you wanted for the best price, now I cant vouch for every helper, but I expect them all to be alike, but the one we had, William, was funny, intuitive, knew exactly what was in stock, what we were looking for, and easily found us the best price. If all these pros dont sound like a reason to go, I dont know what does. 10/10

They have a good sale, extremely helpful staff, and a generous return policy. I was happy with what they provided even though I might have to return the boots I got from them.

Great place to get some things but not a lot of variety

This is a great place for quality gear and clothing... Theyve got all the right clothing brands, they have all the right shoe and boot brands. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend Protector Outfitters.

Excellent gear worth the price

A friend of mine bought me a pair of Carhart pants from this store. They were one size too big, and because I did not have the receipt they would not allow a one for one exchange to the correct size. This baffles me because there was no gain for me or loss for them, simply trying to get my right size and they refused.They were one size too big, and because I did not have the receipt they would not allow a one for one exchange. So I guess don’t buy gift for others unless you plan on getting them a gift receipt, without it you’re SOL. It’s really a shame because I like this store.

Upon arriving in Fairbanks, I found I’d lost a part of my GoPro and needed to replace it in order to photograph the aurora. I searched all over town, Walmart, Fred Meyer, REI, etc. only to find no one had any GoPro parts still in stock. The person at REI suggesting I might try this place. We assumed it would be a small local place with a limited stock but thought we’d try it. We couldn’t have been more wrong and we’re glad we stopped here. The store is large and has a great selection of almost anything related to outdoor gear. We found everything from Canada Goose parkas to hand warmers. We saw Carhart, Smart Wool gear, shoes and boots, etc., Everything also seemed reasonably priced. We ended up spending quite a bit of time just looking. I did in fact find the GoPro piece I was missing and I’m happy they were the only ones in town who did have it. I’d prefer to spend my money at a local place instead of a chain store. Parking was easy and the store was pretty easy to find.William, the sales person, at the store was so helpful and helped me find exactly the piece I needed. He was great to work with.If you’re in Fairbanks and need some type of outdoor gear I’d suggest this place. Just make it first on your list instead of trying everyplace else first like I did. I should have come to The Prospector as my first stop.

Awesome knowledge of the products. Hannah and Megan told my buddies and I everything we needed to know as for as clothing goes since we are new in town. I left a bag outside and they were nice enough to bring it inside for me to go pick it up. Thank you guys!!

Needs a bigger selection for big and tall

Prospector has a great variety of brands and their sales people are friendly and knowledgeable. It is a great place to buy Carhartt clothing because they have many styles to choose from.

Absolutely wonderful place! They have some scrubs for all you nurses and hospital personnel out there. Not a wide variety, but the few they have are high quality and look great.They also have tons of jackets and good quality clothing great for outdoors.There are knives, shoes, and fun stickers to put on your water bottles and laptops. I will certainly be back!

Expensive but great store

Got some really nice things there. Quality materials, top name brands and the work required clothing most Alaska jobs require. If you live in our great outdoors you need to shop here. They have it.

It was a nice enough place, and it has decent layout and design choices. Staff were helpful and courteous, and promptly assisted me in finding what i was looking for, even telling me about details from personal experience to aid in the information exchange. The establishment was clean and orderly to what i saw, and the energy was laid back and relaxed. Recommend for the selection of work clothing tailored to modern life.

A very nice interior, and has 3 floors. They offer good clothing for everyday wear [socks, pants, sweaters, shirts, and hats+gloves]. They also have good winter and muck boots. There lots of merchandise thats good for the outdoors.

Husband bought a pair of work boots that didnt work out. Their return policy ensured he could bring them back and find a pair that will work better for his job. The employees are always courteous and helpful when we need assistance, and the store is always very clean and well organized.

I love this store! I got a GREAT jacket for quarter the price! The saleswoman on the floor was so helpful she helped me find what I needed but listened to where I’m originally from so she could understand my COLD and help me get something that would work to keep me warm since were originally from Hawaii!!! Lol.. This place has great customer service and the woman on the floor who helped me was absolutely amazing I wish I got her name... I came in, read the sale sign which said 30% off a regular price item. And below it said 30% off camping item.When I went to the register, I was expecting 30% off my item. But the gal at the register said it ended yesterday.I told her because you still had the sale posted, she should give me the 30% off, but she did not do that.The next time I shop at your store I will be sure to read your sale sign, and talk to a sales associate before I purchase anything.

This store is very clean and well kept and I like that. My only issue is they do not trust their customers. They have a sign on the door that says bathroom are for customers only. I went into the store to buy some uniforms and I needed to use the bathroom. I get to the bathroom and its locked. It was a good 30 mins before I could use the bathroom cause I could not find anyone to open it for me. Is it really necessary to lock a bathroom? Even if a non customer uses your bathroom they have just become a potential customer. I have to say that any other interaction I have had with the store has been pleasant. I will continue shopping there.

Very easy to read signs. I liked that they split each level without any confusion.Even during the holidays this store provided associates on e each floor of their facility with great customer service.

Fantastic service from one of the employees, I believe her name was Lexi but cant remember for certain. Either way, we are brand new to the area and werent sure if what we were getting was right for our kids. She was incredibly helpful and available whenever we had a question. Also, there is a small area upstairs with toys and a tv for kids to play while you shop, such a gamechanger! I was actually able to shop without my little ones complaining. They actually didnt want to leave lol! We will for sure be back.

This store is amazing! They have everything outdoor or work wear related. The prices are reasonable for the premium brands like: Columbia, North Face, Patagonia, Carhart, Mountain Hardware, and Arctyrix. They have boots downstairs as well. They will usually have winter close out sales in January that are killer prices up to 80% off!

I love this place, staff is great and Super helpful. I buy all my summer work cloths from them. Great perk, they have a mini fridge with free water in for those hot days while ur shopping.

Heres the deal. This a great place to shop when you can go to thier spring or fall sale. You will find items marked down 20%. Another great item is they give you PFD dollars once a year which offsets the cost of your purchase. This store and Big Rays carry quite a bit of the same clothing line and thier prices are inline with eachother.

I had intentions of exchanging an item and was about 10 minutes late to close. Im not from Fairbanks and was told they close at 8 instead of 6. Anyways, I showed up to the parking lot as the staff members were leaving for the day. I explained that I was leaving town before they opened up the next day and wouldnt be able to exchange then. The woman that appeared to be the shift supervisor said she was sorry but there was nothing they could do as tills were closed. As I was walking away in disappointment she said wait and called her manager right there. She was then able to exchange the size for my sandals within a few minutes after close. I sincerely appreciate the quality customer service and willingness to make sure their customers are left satisfied. I highly recommend this store.
