We had breakfast here while visiting Fairbanks. Staff was very friendly and it seemed to be a popular place to eat. Large menu. My son and I both ordered cinnamon roll French toast which was good. Mine had berries and cream cheese on it. It was very sweet and delicious but I wish the cinnamon flavor was more present. They also have a very nice selection of cookies/chocolates/pasteries at check out.
First time eating at The Cookie Jar and we were very impressed!! It was slammed packed but they did a great job seating people in an efficient manner! All of the staff was friendly and several times we were asked if we had been helped yet while we stood in the crowd at the front by the registers. Once we were seated, we had a wonderful waitress named Jennifer- she was friendly, smiling, and made sure to tell us upfront they had ran out of corned beef hash- not that we were going to order that but it was helpful to know ahead of time things like that! Choosing what to order was really difficult- every tray of plates that passed by us was filled with delicious looking options! I finally settled on the stuffed Nolan’s cinnamon roll and my husband k we he wanted the country fried prime rib. The wait for the food did take a little while however considering the crowds it was a reasonable time to wait. Our food came and WOW- huge portions and it all tasted amazing! The cinnamon roll with that fresh mixed berry topping was DELICIOUS! I told my husband I could have a bowl of that berry topping and some ice cream and be in heaven! Our waitress even said they make it fresh there- even better to hear that! Husband’s country fried prime rib he said was fantastic! We were full halfway through but it was too good to stop eating so we gobbled it all down and didn’t leave much cleaning for the dishwasher to do haha! We will be back, and back, and back again! Also up front is a glass case with all sorts of cookies, cinnamon rolls, and other goodies to purchase to take home. They also have a small gift selection at the entrance too- children’s books, post cards, local trinkets for sale!
Food, service, and facility was great! The chicken fried steak was actually meat and not that cheap kind of chicken fried steak. The potatoes were cooked and crunchy! Super yummy. The sausage links were amazing, hence the side of sausage. Eggs were deliciously cooked. Great place! Also, goodies are available for purchase on the go.
Can I start by saying they have fancy coffee here? Not many breakfast restaurants serve espresso, just drip coffee. I was excited when the waitress told me they offer pretty much any drink you could order at a coffee stand. I ordered a white mocha with an extra espresso shot and it was good! Not only do they know how to make a good cup of coffee, but my food was delicious too.I ordered an omelette with cheddar and extra bacon. The omelettes come with hasbrowns or fries with your choice of toast. I chose hash browns. The toast even came with a lot of butter/wasnt dry.I love this restaurant and I will be coming back. The service was great and the set up is nice. I love a good breakfast joint (though they also offer more than just breakfast food).
My family and I came here while on vacation from Florida about a week ago. We spent a week in Fairbanks and came here for breakfast every day. The temperatures for the week were below freezing most of the mornings so we ordered coffee and they had good coffee. The food was absolutely. I had the Corn beef hash one morning and the rest of the mornings we came I had the Stuffed Nolan’s, which was two HUGE cinnamon halves stuffed with cream cheese, grilled and topped with strawberries and whipped cream. So good! Best breakfast in town! Libby was our server and she was amazing. Highly recommend enjoying a delicious breakfast here if you’re in town. We will definitely be back when we visit Alaska again.
Cozy restaurant with Good Vibes. The food is delicious but the wait is long. We had the Halibut Burger with Veggie Soup. The Beer Battered Halibut just melts in your mouth and the soup is yummy. We also had the Veggie Omelette with Hash browns. Hands Down the best Hash I have ever had. Combining this with a Short Stack of Pancakes with Blueberry the brunch was set.
Enjoyed this establishment twice! First time was a halibut sandwich that was not oily and fries were seasoned perfect.Even though it was busy lunch, the quality was still up to par. Second time was breakfast and I got the corn beef hash with English muffin and 2 over medium eggs, I got so full I couldnt finish it all! A tad bit oily but it didnt ruin the food. Overall highly recommend, feels hidden but popular at the same time!
We ate here for breakfast. Being a Monday morning around 11am, we did not have any wait for a table. I ordered the corned beef hash and it was absolutely delicious. We grabbed a cinnamon roll and chocolate chip coconut oatmeal cookies to go (all soooo delicious - cinnamon roll was soft and doughy and the cookies were perfectly soft and crispy). Highly recommend.
This place is so delicious that Im tempted to fly back to Alaska in sub-zero temperatures again just to try more of the amazing food they have. I still cant get over the level of flavor in everything we ate. Even the coffee was amazing. Best breakfast in town! Call ahead for reservations if you get the chance – worth the wait.Nothing but praise:10/10 taste10/10 portion size10/10 food/price ratio10/10 variety10/10 service9/10 size of waiting area10/10 coming back!
Another Guy Fieri pick that didn’t disappoint!!! Came for breakfast and had to try a raisin cinnamon roll that’s the size of the plate! Came out warm and gooey! For the meals we went with the corn beef hash and biscuits and gravy. Everything came out cooked to perfection and little wait time. Definitely get plenty of food for the cost. Our service was great and our bellies got full!!!
Staff here were very kind and sweet to our family. The waitress helped our daughter find something she could enjoy with her dairy allergy. I do wish staff was wearing masks. Our kids can’t be vaccinated yet and it’s a bummer to see staff members not wearing them. The food was awesome and every thing was super tasty. This was our last food experience in Alaska before we hoped on the plane to come back home. It was a great choice!
First time coming here (Oct 2021). The place was nice, clean and had a good selection of gifts. I was a little disappointed in the food for the price. The waitress seemed a little distracted and we had to flag them down for refills on coffee and my sons iced tea. I would give it another shot next time we are up there, however.
Good breakfast food, affordable prices, generous portions. Im not going to say the cream cheese and fruit filled cinnamon roll is as life changing as I first imagined, but the novelty of the dish is appriciated. I mean come on, you know you want to try one.No complaints at all, great experience. Ill also note we visited mid-week and mid-winter no wait time to be seated but could be different during peak tourist months.
Delicious breakfast, large portions, fresh varieties of cookies and candies. The have espresso drinks, which makes a great difference for me. Friendly staff. It was a little hard to spot, but it was worthy to look for it. The great eviews influenced us.
The only nice breakfast place in the surrounding. We were for breakfast on both the days while we were in Fairbanks. The place is always crowded, seating is first come first serve. Wait times varies from 10 - 20 min at the top. It has quite standard menu, loved there strawberry waffle.Note : the pin is little off on google maps, it takes to a station in the next lane.
My kids always request going to this restaurant and they wanted to make sure that I rate this place 5 stars. They love that they serve breakfast all day also. One time I picked up our order and went back inside for some syrup and they sincerely apologized and gave me 2 free cookies. Will definitely continue eating here.
We had a great brunch here during our trip in Alaska. The quiche is delicious. Im most impressed by the quality of grilled steak, which easily beats other fancy restaurants weve been in Anchorage and Fairbanks.P.S. I left my Kindle at the restaurant and William helped me to mail it back to Chicago. Really appreicate the kindness.
The food was outstanding and fresh. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was a very busy afternoon with every take full and people waiting inside and out. Despite this, the staff did their best to make our visit enjoyable. They seem to be under staffed like many businesses recently which led to a long wait for our food. Any place that does all day breakfast is a favorite of mine and this restaurant does not disappoint.
We went at a very busy time at lunch on Sunday, but once we had a table, the food was great! I tried the halibut wrap and was very satisfied with it. It’s a fun place!
Cute place with good food! Be ready to wait but its worth it. The waitress was nice and attentive.
Breakfast was great and so was the service. Highly recommend.
A group of 22 ate in this restaurant. We had an excellent breakfast! Clean restaurant, very friendly staff. Quick service and the food was delicious and the portions were large. Delicious huge cinnamon rolls and other tasty baked goods in the showcase. Affordable. Highly recommend!
Everything looked amazing! The house potatoes were rather hard, had to exchange for hashbrowns. Portions were large definitely enough to share if youre not a large eater.
Tasty cinnamon rolls! Everything else was good too. I had this French toast Cinnamon roll that was fantastic and super filling.
Its overrated. The wait is very, very long to both get seated and get drinks/food. The menu is fairly unremarkable except for the Normans, which are essentially French Bread cinnamon rolls. Im glad they can do espresso and have non-dairy milk. Probably will try another breakfast spot before returning.
Classic diner breakfast / brunch. Great home-baked bread and biscuits. Lovely and friendly staff. Very busy on Sunday late morning - call ahead to ask on wait time and add yourself to the list before you arrive.
Great staff, great food and great portions. Priced right! Ive been twice on this trip and two other times on a previous visit from the lower 48
We were disappointed that we didnt get much of any service. It four times longer to be seated than they said. When we finally got seated, with waters, the server in our area never made it to us. Finally a young lady asked if she could get us something to drink. I believe she noticed we had not been taken care of. We asked if she could take our order, which she did. However, we never saw anyone again. In total we were there an hour and half.Everyone seemed to be working really hard, busy with what was in front of them, not able to keep up. The problem maybe that management had no but a buffer in the middle between waiters and the team that clears the tables, allowing servers to start new tables.I should add... We left.
Overall, this was a nice place. The hostess and server were friendly, but we waited over a ½ hour for our food to come. It was hot and tasty, but still...a ½ hour is quite a while. In fairness, the place was packed and there seemed to be a good deal of to-go orders happening. Also, we bought some cookies on the way out (½ price for day-old cookies...they got ripped off...those cookies were as good as if they were fresh). The cashier seemed to be in quite a miserable mood...she wasnt rude, but not cheery and friendly like our server.Overall, a definite stop for breakfast when in Fairbanks.
We spent almost 2 hours here..it’s packed..the foods great. Highly recommend the Savannah’s cake it melts in your mouth, the eggs Benedict was eggecelent
Bad service specially the hostess, she gave away our table after we waited about 45 minutes outside. Claimed she went out and called our name but we never heard it. After signing us up again and waiting inside this time to not miss our table, she “called” a couple with a normal voice only inside and then quickly moved on her list. They were right outside and she literally skipped them. We waited so long for the food my coffee got cold. Waited for another cup and got it at the end of my meal. I understand when a restaurant is busy however this is a popular local, cute restaurant for a Sunday brunch. They should staff as appropriate. You should know when your busy times are.
Amazing selection, & service. They were very busy, but the service was perfect. Food was, well left there stuffed, had to stop.
Absolutely delicious food, great prices and huge servings. If we hadnt had to catch a flight the next day, we would have been back again to eat here. It was that good!
We were so happy when our son in law suggested The Cookie Jar for breakfast. We loved the restaurant, the amazing service. And if you have not picked up cookies yet...you need to do so. We loved them all. Especially the chocolate chip walnut cookies.
This place is popular, but I think it is overrated. Service was good, the ham and bacon were phenomenal, but everything else was tasteless. For the french toast, hash browns, and eggs its like they didnt even try to flavor them. On top of that the water cups had a funky smell. This place could be great, but it isnt.
This is a sweet local all American restaurant. It makes you feel like you are at your grandmothers house, in every sense. The food is as good as it can be for your average American restaurant. The service was OK, our server could have been more attentive. I had high expections for their cookies, given the name of the restaurant, but I felt like the cookies were as good as any American grandmothers cookies are. There’s nothing special about them, but just a good old fashion chocolate chip cookie. I appreciated the simplicity. Basically, if you are looking for a solid, old fashioned, homestyle American food experience, this is the place.
We had brunch here at my nephews recommendation. Did have to wait a little while after placing our order to get our food, due to them being short staffed, but this is posted when you arrive & our server did remind us after she took our order. The food was worth the wait. The cinnamon bun was HUGE!!! Definitely a 2 person item. Their biscuits were thick, dense, buttery, & Delicous, a definite must. Their cookies are also worth it...... you can call to be placed on the wait list if youre on your way, otherwise arrive early. Staff was very friendly. FYI, ts a little tricky getting here by GPS, it does bring you to the general location, and since the restaurant is located behind the car dealership, you will have to drive thru the parking lot/entrance of the dealership to find the front of the Cookie Jar. If you miss the turn off, youll be re-directed to make a huge U turn. Well visit again for sure.
What a great place! The food is great. The cinnamon roll is so good, more than one person can finish.
If you are in Fairbanks, we highly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced for the area.
Amazing experience. Waitress Shoney was delightful. Food wonderful. Worth waiting for.
Great food. Friendly staff and amazing cinnamon rolls
AMAZING FOOD. The cinnamon bun is an excellent value and the best we have had in our lives. The service was quick and friendly and the food was delicious!
Oh man. Really wanted to like this place-- staff are great, ambiance is super appropriate for Fairbanks, and the menu seems very appropriate. The cinnamon roll french toast was very tempting but seemed like sugar overload...The chicken fried prime rib was just okay, not salty enough, while the corned beef hash was the opposite-- not bad but too salty until you mixed it with the eggs! So. Hard to knock, but hard to sing its praises either...
If you dont get the Nolans french toast your missing out. Its a cinnamon bun cooked French toast style, and it was amazing!
World famous giant cinnamon buns are exceptional. There are no dry spots on them; it’s all gooey. The biscuit gravy is the best I’ve ever had and even better than down South in the lower 48! An every-week breakfast staple to be sure.
My mom and I did a road trip in Alaska, Fairbanks was one of our stops. We came to The Cookie Jar for breakfast- so good! Highly recommend stopping here (Guy from DDD ate here!)!
Great food! We got the Stromboli and Pastrami & Swiss sandwiche. Both were amazing.
Loved this place. (Featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives) 6 of us ordered all different foods from the Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner menu and each one was better than the next. Who has room for dessert...not me...but half of us ordered it anyway. Staff was great, food was better! They have the biggest Cinnamon Roll I have ever seen, it should probably be in the Guinness book of World Records
Really good food. Courteous service, but a little slow on getting our meal. Not really a complaint, just reality.
What a feed! The corned beef for breakfast absolutely blew our minds! It was so damn delicious 🤤 super friendly and fast service with a homely feel! The baked goods are just as good and having a peanut butter cookie was like tasting the steps of heaven 😍don’t hesitate - GO!
Great breakfast, sweet treats, pastries looked delicious!
Delicious food! Very nice server! The GPS had a hard time finding it from the direction we came.
Perfect. Recommend the Cookie Jar Omelette.
This has to be the best breakfast I have ever had. Food is large portions, the staff are super friendly and the flavor is perfect. Apparently the chef is the owner which makes a difference!
This has always been a fan favorite and you cant go wrong.
Place over all: was ok.Cleanness: good.Fast servicePoliteness: good.Coffee: regularPlates**Denver Omelette**: (ham, onion, bell pepper and cheese) well I asked no bell pepper, add mushrooms. Omelet came out as ham, mushroom and cheese. NOT WHAT I ASKEDHomemade hashbrowns not impressed.Frenshtoast ok. No taste.**Stake and eggs**: eggs regular, regular hashbrowns and wheat bread. I have to admit this stake was bomb. Super good taste, made medium well. Super well done! Tasty. Better stake than The pump house rest.
This is probably my second time writing a review on google but I thought I probably should write this and let the owner know.We are visiting Fairbanks from Utah and everyone here has been saying that you gotta try Cookie jar. We went there and unfortunately our experience was not good at all. The food was very typical. You can’t screw up two eggs and bacon. The silverware had egg smell. They were cleaning all tables with one wet rag using no cleaner especially in this pandemic! The two stars are one for our server and one for the French toast. I wish I could write a good review about this place but I really can’t. The experience was not good at all.
Great place for lunch or dinner. Its very family oriented and the service is excellent. Our waitress was very nice and polite. The burgers here are freshly made with great taste...
We went twice during our stay in Alaska. Both times we had the same waitress; the second time, she remembered us and what we drank. Service was great and the food was amazing!!!
