Ice cream is actually really good, tapioca soaked well, but their sweetness meter is off. Also very intolerant with people who didnt have masks. Prices were on par with other places and the cups are super high quality.
The customer service here could use a lot of help. I went in on a Saturday there were three people working and two other customers in the store that we’re undecided on what they wanted to order. Everyone just stood around waiting for customers to decide on something instead just have one employee help to EXPLAIN THE MENU AND OFFER SUGGESTIONS while another person took orders for people that already know what they wanted to order. There was also NO GREETING from anyone when I walked in. The employees are just rude and arrogant. The tea is fine but the customer service is lacking.
Nice place. Interesting and different flavors of ice cream and drinks. Fun for a change.
I thought this place was a rolled ice cream store? The transaction was quick, efficient with pleasant customer service. What I didnt realize was that I wasnt just getting something I was going to eat, I received a work of art! Just beautiful! And normally, art work doesnt get eaten. I can say, this art work is edible and extremely delicious!
Don’t ever come here the service is horrible. The staff thinks they’re so cool and don’t care about their customers. They didn’t take us seriously and shut the doors at 9:45, whilst they close at 10:00. We called to complain and got hung up on. Do not recommend this place at all.
Loved it!! Ice cream made right in front you! Great flavor and service
Went here on a weekend about 10 minutes after they opened (around 12:40 pm) and tried to order a bubble tea with the classic bubbles (not the popping ones). They said it would be 20 more minutes until the bubbles were ready, so we decided to come back and werent too offset by this. We came back 30 minutes later at 1:10 pm and tried to order the classic bubbles again and was told it would be ANOTHER 20 minutes until they were ready. This made it seem like they really had no idea when the bubbles would be ready or if that just was an excuse to not have to prepare them so people would order something else? I ended up getting tea without any toppings and my friend got tea with popping bubbles and jelly. The tea was just ok, and paired with being told to come back at a certain time just to be told to come back again later plus the general unpreparedness for business well past opening made for a terrible experience. On a smaller note, when throwing straw wrappers away on our way out, the trash can lid was extremely sticky, leaving us with an unknown, gross substance covering our hands.0/10 would not recommend.
A girl, with insecurities and clearly upset at the world, screamed at us that we needed face masks. lol. no thanks. I wont contribute to hypocrisy - btw that cheap 3 foot wide plastic shield hanging from your stores ceiling is definitely preventing the genius Covid-19 virus from spreading. Glad you found a way to outsmart the virus... I honestly wont be going anywhere in NoVa anytime soon. Anyone that still believes anything being said about Covid is simply stupid. And NoVa is filled with those people. Enough is enough. Plus youre ice cream/milk teas are probably trash anyways based off the reviews. fyi, I’m fully vaccinated - what is the point of vaccines if masks are required? Plus, they’re no longer mandated in Virginia. None of this makes any sense any more - nothing.
I am fully vaccinated and I walked in without a mask( I didn’t carry them around since the law didn’t require them) and they told me I had to wear a mask even though I was vaccinated. When I asked if they had any disposable masks they said they didn’t. Overall their customer service was absolutely awful, and the workers were very rude.
This place the best ice cream place ever, it had very nice furniture really cool on hot days. The ice cream was really out of this world. My favorite ice cream on the menu is the Oreo secret, I still can imagine its flavor and it waters in my mouth. I loved the marvel mural with Groot and Spiderman.
Wear a mask before entering. Their drinks and rolled ice cream are great!! Reasonable prices. YAASSSS QUEEN
Seeing the ice cream made along with the taste of it was a amazing great experience. Absolutely loved it!
Ehhh the bubble tea isn’t great. Lacks flavor.
You cannot go wrong with a rolled ice cream place, but the quality and service here was especially good. Not to mention the high quality bubble tea.
Amazing rolled ice cream, and in Mosaic District to boot!
Was good the first time. The second and third time just wasn’t consistent.
I LOVE 520 SOOO MUCHHH. Highly recommend. also the best-rolled ice cream Ive ever had in MY ENTIRE LIFE. 💙 and the boba tea🧋 is really good too! 😣🙏 Have a great day to whoever is reading this!
Great place with a lot of options to choose. Icecream tastes so good.
Fun way to enjoy icecream. Would give 5 stars but they only used one oreo cookie per serving. Kids would have liked at least two.
Poor customer serviceFor $7.99 he put one small spoon 1/4 bananaNo flavorVery disappointed ☹️
This was my first time having rolled ice cream. Newsflash: it’s really just the same as any other ice cream. But it was a good experience. I got mint Oreo topped with brownie and whipped cream. It was pretty good. More of an experience than anything. Takes a little longer due to the experience of rolling the ice cream.
My experience was pretty average. Service was fine, but the tea was lukewarm, not cold at all. My Spirited Away tea was okay, just tasted really warm and thin. There didn’t seem to be any tea in it, so it just tasted very syrupy. I’ve had their rolled ice cream before and I know that’s probably their stronger suit.
Love how customizable all the ice creams are!!! also an amazing topping bar selection to choose from as well! one of my favorite dmv ice cream joints
I waited 60 minutes for these 2 cups of tea... I dont usually give bad reviews but this is out of my comfort waiting zone by a long shot...The thing is, we sat right in front of the cash register, and by half hour mark I had a feeling that they probably forgot our order, but I thought: we literally just ordered and sat right in front of the cash register, there is no way they will forget, lets see how long will they take for them to notice. Well the answer is never... by 1 hour mark we lost faith, we had to ask and yes, they forgot our order...As for the tea itself, its okay, not worthy of 60 minutes. It seems to me that the shop is lacking some management/maintenance because not only the tea took very long time, the toilet of the place ran out of toilet paper, we have to ask for a refill...
I first visited here with my sibling and the first thing this place reminds me of is the Smashd Creamery at Fairfax. Both creameries have similar unique styles of how they provide their stuff to the customers with lots of varieties of unlimited toppings to choose from. I personally love oreo ice cream so I went with that one. Apparently oreo is one of the popular flavor choices at this place and I witnessed so many people choosing oreo roll!We got coconut shakes, strawberry slices, caramel, etc. for extra sweetness and it paid off very well. The best part of this creamery is that the ice cream rolls are handmade and you can actually see workers chopping, shaving, styling all kinds of mixes and cutting them up to create wonderful high-quality ice cream roll(s). If you ever get a chance to visit Mosaic District, I highly recommend stopping by here for dessert or snack!
Excellent unique ice cream stop in a wonderful area of town.
Yummy, but too spendy.
Great quick Thai ice cream and Asian sweet tea place
Great service but flavor was lacking
This was the absolute BEST ice cream I have ever had! Customer service was AMAZING....they were practicing social distancing and wore masks! I strongly suggest trying this place! ❤️ Cool for the kids to watch as well
It was pretty good. I tried their ice cream but it kinda tasted like a glorified cold stone creamery. A good buncha people were getting Boba teas so ill try that the next time. Maybe thats their big seller.
I asked for a Classic Milk Tea Boba, And there are more Options, I got a little confused but I eventually got what I wanted
I am an ice-cream lover and always try different options and I am yet to find that one perfect place in the DMV area. For this time, I was exploring some options for rolled ice-cream in the DMV area. After having tried Swadika in Tysons Corner, a few times, this was my first visit to 520. I had Mango Madness and my wife had Very Berry bliss.Overall, I liked the shop and the ice-cream, it was good but not the “best”This shop is in the Mosaic district, which is really good with a lot of good restaurants around and also has nice crowd. For that particular area, $7.5 for a cup is a fair price. Are there better rolled ice-cream places in the area? - YesIs it fair priced compared to others? - A little over pricedWill I ever go again? - MaybeShould you go try ? - Completely
So 1st time ..Thai Rolled ice cream..LUV! FAB! YUM!, I love novelty something new! ..Other reviewers have mentioned different locales tasting better: but 10++ to me!Perfect, tasted so light & creamy, yummy.. similiar regular ice cream, but lighter..prepared so fast! yet very professional, unrushed service, not recklessly in a hurry. The ice cream rolled onto a clean cold metal base..Take small scraper and roll so thin!..was so a thin and pretty rolls, like Roses on wedding cake!!No clue what I wanted, basically I just wanted vanilla&chocolate, something you cant go wrong with. and the varieties that they have on the board are fabulous! But since a huge portion decadent & bit pricey splurge (7.60)requested exactly what I wanted, fruit & chocolate chips. After they recommended the oreo selection so I have choc&vanilla preferences.. They had absolutely no problem, didnt charge extra ..Even though technically I had more than just 3 toppings lol!! Whats another 200 calories when youre having a 1000 calorie indulgence!... Eating outside even on crisp chill evening..fabulous plenty of ample seating, with heated warmers, no charge all throughout the area,...you can sit and people watch..its a great night spend 2-3 hours without even spending more than $10 ..you absolutely do not need a meal with that ice cream!.. (average entree like $15)less and lil.more variety!
Ice cream too wattery but it was aiiight
Came here for the first time trying 520 and thai rolled ice cream. Not much of a fan for rolled ice cream. Ordered the thai tea flavord ice cream and it dont really taste like ice cream to me- not creamy enough and it was a bit pricey for what you get. The only positive thing about the ice cream alone is how it doesnt feel too heavy dessert since it isnt that creamy. May come back.
We just took our 5 year old girl here and she loved the Marvel Superhero mural right when we walked in. Watching them make and roll the ice cream was fun too. The flavor was awesome and unique. I saw a number of flavors that we will have to try next time. I highly recommend this place for all ages. Havent had a chance to taste the tea yet, but it looked very promising.
This Thai street food concept draws a long queue of youngsters who want freshly frozen ice cream made live tailored to each individual palette. Imagine that: Ice cream flavors made to order while you wait!In case you are feeling lost, there are plenty of suggested combinations of mix-ins, sauces, and toppings. The pricing is simple (albeit not cheap). However, one order is big enough to share in my opinion.Warning: be prepared to wait for up to 10-15 minutes for your turn to receive you customized ice cream.Their cold tea combinations are also a popular ask but I didn’t try it.
Ice cream is too cold
Selling ice cream for 8$? Really? Even Gelato is less expensive than you guys and honestly your ice cream is not that good compared to what we are paying, at least consider enlarge your size for that price.
Quite nice basic but delicious fast and good atmosphere would try again
Food was good. waaaay overpriced. $7 for one cup og icecream
Couldn’t ask for more when it comes to a different style or version of ice cream. Tried the coconut 🥥 n Pineapple rolled flavor. Each bite was savoring. Saw kids being more fond of their Oreo n chocolate flavor. But I loved this one and will visit again and again n recommend this place to all !
I would go here once a week pretty much to get their lychee ice cream when I lived here, this place is amazing!
Best thai ice cream near me... Loved it!!!
Dont waste your time. The staff doesnt care, they will turn away customers during open hours if they feel a little overwhelmed. They will arbitrarily decide not to serve items on their menu they have in stock and can serve. They will let you wait 5 minutes as they finish a conversation with a friend who swung by only to tell you a after their conversation they are closed and wont serve you. Each of these were separate events over the course of different months. They caused us to lose face with our friends and colleagues we brought to them. They have decent drinks and rolled ice cream when you can get it, but there are dozens of other place offering the same products and quality with much more reliable service.
The ice cream was great and its fun to watch it getting made. The space is a bit small so if its busy it can get a little crammed inside. They do have a couple of seats outside as well.
Best ice cream ever
Neat ice cream dessert concept. Delicious too! This is the rainbow roll!
Great variety of teas, can add bobas to any of the teas. Kids enjoyed the rolled ice cream. Staff handled the crowd very efficiently.
This is a neat experience, with watching them pour on the creams and flavors onto the silver freezing plates. It is an Asian dessert restaurant. That has flavors that arent tradiational in the United States. But its fun eating ice cream this way (scrapped and rolled up). They also have different Asian teas. Both hot and cold. The service was a little slow but that was because there was only one worker and it takes a lot of work to do this kinda job. However. Thos individual was happy and didnt complain and did a wonderful job.
Very cool place, no pun intended. The ice cream is delicious and its really entertaining watching them make it. I love the teas they serve as well and its all for a reasonable price
Btw to everyone the owner of 520 (sounds familiar to i love you in mandarin) is adam sheey from tiktok
Rolled ice cream was good. I had the peanut butter flavor. Next time I will order the green tea ice cream. 😁
Nice and a different experience. Good that sugar and cream wasnt too much.
The name is a bit deceiving in that they dont serve traditional ice cream. However it was good and fun to watch them prepare it. The place is a bit too small for a large crowd.
Tiny place, got very crowded inside...but the menu items tried (4) were all unique and very enjoyable!
One of the first Thai rolled ice cream spots I visited and for this reason I give it this rating, because before 520 ice cream I hadnt seen anything like it before. They recently got a new menu with many delicious options.
Me and my gf loves this place. Unfortunately it appears they leave a LARGE pitcher of their milk/cream that they use for the ice cream on the counter as customers come. I think the milk they used was left on the counter a bit too long. Ice cream tasted...off. it was starting to get sour. Our stomachs didnt really feel the greatest afterwards either.I am only hoping that when I let them know they might change something about their operations to make sure they dont leave milk on the counter for too long.I dont think we will be back in the future :(.
Came here at 12:30pm on a Sunday. Ordered the Spirited Away and a hot milk tea with bobas. Was told that boba wont be ready till 1pm. Not sure why since they open at 11:30am. Does that mean they dont do prep work before they open? Or they dont expect them customers to order bobas at a bubble tea place? While waiting for our drinks, was told that their steamer wasnt working so they couldnt make a hot drink. Again, how did you not know about this when you opened? I guess we were the first customers of the day? They refunded our milk tea but they gave us a vibe that they didnt really care whether they had our business or not. The Spirited Away was good, but probably wont go back since theres other bubble tea place in Mosaic.
Great flavors. So far Ive tried thai-tanic and something with cocoa, both were amazing
Creative drinks and ice cream. All super tasty!
You should add this place to your bucket list.I have seen Thai icecream first time and it was great. They made icecream in a minute in front of my eyes. The way that they make it was very interesting for me. At the end they made a few small rolls of ice cream. They put those rolls vertically in an icecream cup.
Had it twice and both times excellent but wouldve preferred a more experienced maker.
Never heard of rolled iced cream until I came here! Great variety and not disappointed.
Are you looking for overpriced and un-cooked boba with an atmosphere of 20 adolescents screaming as you sip your mediocre bubble tea? Worst bubble tea ever!! No dairy free milk substitutes for boba?! Boba was extremely undercooked....Plus, it was $7+ tax for a large with only boba addition!? Run!
Nice flavors ... fresh fruit crepe icecreams... one of the best in NoVA area
Always awesome!!!
The only reason I’m giving them one star is that On July 7th around 9ish pm we were sitting enjoying our ice cream with my kids and suddenly this full size ladder that was next to the seats fell on my 6 year old head and a random guy in line helped to pick it up, my son was crying and for a good 10 minuets we were not able to talk to none of the employees (they didn’t even notice what happened from the sound of the ladder) when I finally spoke to one she apologized a couple times and and didn’t know what to do (I don’t blame her) I said can u at least remove it and she went to remove it and left, i was surprised she didn’t speak to the manger so I waited in line for a couple more minutes trying to ask for the manager when I finally did i told him can I speak to the manager he said I’m the manager i told him what happened and he said oh umm is he ok? ( very cold blooded) I said no I don’t know the full size ladder fell on a 6 year olds head ? He looked at me with a big smile on his face as if i was telling him a joke, waiting and said umm ok? He kept humming he made me feel like i was asking him for a favor or money! It’s not about that it’s about showing that you care enough and making sure your customer is ok getting hurt is your fault in your ice cream shop. everyone in line was just looking at me and i just left extremely unprofessional when you know a customer got hurt from not providing a safe space for ppl to sit down and eat .
Standard rolled ice cream shop. Nothing bad about it or spectacular.
Really good rolles ice cream, very tasty.
A new place to get Thai style rolled ice cream, its small and they have dance music blaring. The tea is decent .
Worth a try. Follow their recommendation.
For $4.50 each, we waited 20 minutes for a very bitter and undrinkable tea. Although they remade it we still had to remove the leaves with a spoon.
The best ice cream Ive ever had 😎😋
Very good Thai ice cream
Novel and tasty ice cream.
Delicious ice cream.
Great staff and tea!
Great quality food and customer service
Chill vibe and great staff
$4.50 and a 15-minute wait for an okay cup of tea.
