These guys are awesome. I called in on a Saturday with worries about leaking oil due to a mishap from one of those quick stop oil change locations, and feared having to leave my car over the weekend. Upon arrival they put my car on the lift immediately and resolved the issue in what felt like 5 minutes. I was visiting family in Fairfield from Boston when my car started making a weird noise. I tried going to a few places (which is understandably tough on a Saturday) and Penfield took me right away. The team was knowledgeable, professional and accommodating. They quickly diagnosed my issue and made a trustworthy recommendation. My 2016 LR4’s AC needed a recharge and uses R1234YF which is extremely difficult to find outside of dealerships. These guys had the machine (which most places don’t as they’re expensive) and diagnosed/ fixed my issue that morning. These guys are super friendly, honest and a great team of professionals. I highly recommend bringing your vehicle for all your auto issues. Never going to a dealership to fix my car again. Thank you Penfield Service Center!

I had an emergency this morning and needed a mechanic pronto! I called up Penfield and spoke to Mike. He told me to come in straight away! I had recently gotten my fuel filter changed and had a leak for some reason. On top of that I was on my way to work! They took my car into the shop within 5 mins of me being there. I was in and out within 30 mins. The staff are very professional and very welcoming. I was able to get the situation fixed in no time and be on my way. I will definitely recommend their service and will without a doubt be using their services in the future. Thanks again guys!

This shop rocks! Without an appointment, i asked them to inspect the undercarriage. They threw my van up on the lift quickly, diagnosed a small problem, and literally fixed it for free. Definitely using them whenever I need repairs. Super honest, friendly, and fair!

Bob and the crew at Penfield just saved us a ton of money. We were about to buy a used car. It had a good number of miles and a few reported issues, but we asked if could have checked out. I get in touch with Bob and he told us to have it brought by. A crew member took it for a drive and reported a shake. We probably would have noticed that, but Bob quickly pointed out an oil leak and a number of other problems that would require costly repairs. He recommended we only buy it at a much lower price since we would have to spend so much to have to fixed. We decided against it and were so glad Bob and the pros at Penfield had saved us so much money and so many headaches. We highly recommend Bob and his team for your repairs!!

I was told to go here by Interstate Battery as they couldnt install a car battery in my Audi A4. While on the phone with these guys, I was talking and the person hangs up on me mid sentence. I rang him back and called him out on it. He says I dont have time to deal with discussion over a battery. I said I was asking you how much to install the battery as Interstate said I was suppose to go here (to your business). He said, it would cost $75, lol!! $75 for 5-10 mins of work. This is why businesses should be held accountable for their poor service and terrible customer focus. I am a huge advocate for local businesses (see my facebook feed) but sorry, rudeness is not necessary.

My fiance was given a quote over the phone for rear brakes and rotors on two separate occasions. When the job was completed we were informed that only the brake pads were done. When we explained that we were told on two different occasions the rotors and pads were expected to be replaced Robert became defensive and instead of explaining to us the cost of pads and rotors he threatened that he would put the old pads back on and that we can go somewhere else. It was completely unprofessional the way he spoke and I personally would suggest that anyone else with car issues go to another mechanic.I had to give one star for this review because giving 0 stars wasnt an option
I brought in my 2015 Nissan Altima for some maintenance a few weeks ago - brake fluid (at the dealerships recommendation) and an oil change. First of all, Mike is the man. Very friendly and willing to answer questions and give advice. Second, he actually helped me avoid unnecessary service., as he informed me that the brake fluid was not dirty enough to really need changing. Instead, he recommended I replace my battery, which I was considering anyway, as it was 5 years old.Pricing was solid to me. They beat my dealership on the brake fluid estimate, and they beat Valvoline on the price of my oil change. More importantly, Im happy with the work that was done.Add to that the experience of having a conversation about servicing your car VS being pressured by a salesman regarding services for your car, and Im sold.In addition they stand by their work, as Mike told me I could bring my car back for free in the battery should malfunction or need a deep charge. Ill be bringing my car to Penfield for as long as Im living in the area.Thanks again to Mike and the Penfield crew.
Im very surprised by the high ratings of this place. I had a relatively new Corolla and, after about 20,000 miles, I decided that I should find a local garage to take it to, instead of the dealership, for my regular checkups. So I took it to Penfield and I remember being surprised at how much it cost the first time I went. I did go, again, though, and it cost a lot more than the dealer the second time. Finally, one day my check-engine light went on, and I took it back to Penfield. The car had about 35,000-40,000 miles on it. They told me that a small part was shot (I cant remember what it was, but I know that they normally dont get replaced until much later in the cars life) and, since its better to replace both at the same time, my estimate was about $1200. Of course, I was in shock, but they were very dismissive on my concerns. So I took it back to the dealership (Colonial, Milford), who told me that there was nothing wrong with that part and that it must have been something weird with the check-engine light (which was no longer on). In the end, I didnt have to replace those parts until around 80,000 miles. At any rate, after that experience, I put Penfield in my rear-view mirror.
I had a Saturday weekend emergency situation with a failing water pump. Bob went out of his way to help me out and to finish the job on that same Saturday. He drove me to work in the morning when I dropped off my car and was reassuring that all will go well. I always know that their work is trustworthy and timely and that I can count on Bob and the Team at Penfield Service Center.Thank you for taking such great care of me.

Penfield came recommended from an acquaintance, I work in Fairfield but commute from Middletown where over all service prices are a bit less expensive, I was a bit apprehensive about what I would get for my hard earned dollars.The quote was given shortly after I dropped of the vehicle and the price I would say was fair.ButWhen I received the invoice of the services performed I was pleasantly surprised coupled with the extra steps the crew took to make sure everything was completed it was an A+ experience, I almost felt guilty for my original opinion.I would highly recommend Penfield the crew was pleasant and professional, perhaps I can get them to open a shop in the Middletown area!

I had my Rear Brakes done on July 9th 2020 here at PENFIELD SERVICE CENTER 👎👎 in Fairfield Connecticut It was for a 2006 Honda Accord. I am a single mother and drive my eight-year-old daughter in my car daily. I had just heard for the first time,my brakes grinding the day before and went to the closest service center to me that day(PENFIELD) just to basically get a check to make sure it wasnt something serious. I dont know much about cars, and was given a price of $600. REAR BRAKES ONLY, NOT FRONT !I!I wastold that the calipers, rotors and pads were shot, which scared me. SO I HAD THEM DO IT ! Ive had it checked out by two different trusted mechanics,in which I was given a price of $280 and 315$. I feel very taken advantage of, as I was charged double anybody who knows about cars will know this 😭😭 an old family friend who has 30 years experience as a mechanic said I should have never paid anything more than 350$ MAX! He also told me that itwas not something that needed to be done immediately like I was being convinced. I should have known to take it somewhere else,but I was scared from what they were saying . Our trusted family mechanic is all the way out in Oxford and I didnt think that Id be able to make it there.I come from a good family of people and we do not treat people this way so I am often blinded by others insincerity and dishonesty.Nor do I know the correct wording when I go into an auto center. but this place definitely taught me to always get second third opinions and make sure you stick with the people you know. I will be sure to spread this story around toOthers and boycott this Penfield service center as they are CROOKED. Because of them I have $300 less for me and my child Im devastated having this happen as Ive most recently lost my job, Due to covid-19. I am just a waitress. Not to mention they did not bleed the brakesa, BUT I WILL NOT go back to have them fix this because as it is I called to let them know how I felt in tears and all I was told is he would relay the message to the other manager( even though he said he was one out of the two people in charge there.) I didnt think that I would get my money back but I figured an apology would have been nice. I wasnt being rude or anythingwhen I was there to them I was actually my normal soft-spoken nice overly nice self, even I paid one of the managers a compliment as I walked in maybe that was my big mistake, I just dont understand it

I wanted to give a shout out to the guys at Penfield Service. Bob and Mike are awesome! In a world where people love to complain it’s nice to say something positive for a change, give credit where credit it due. My car was making a lot of noise in the front end which sounded terrible. I called Bob and he told me to bring it right in. I was so freaked out and he said not to worry, that he would take care of it. Long story short, there was a leaf stuck in the vent and the blower was causing it to make noise, thank god! In just a few minutes, he had me fixed and on my way to work! This place is great! Mike was very friendly, professional and honest regarding an issue that I am having with my gas tank/fuel lines. I am planning to bring my other cars here for servicing. They also have a convenient key drop off slot and the shop is walking distance to the Farifield Metro North Train Station.

These guys were awesome! I went to 3 different places to get an estimate/diagnostics on an issue with my radio and didnt feel comfortable with what any of them had to say. As a last stitch effort I walked into this shop and was greeted by Bob. He took a look at my car right then and there and was able to problem solve the situation on the spot. My car was fixed in 10 minutes and he saved me hundreds of dollars! I am always looking for a mechanic I can trust around town and now I have definitely found one. Thanks again guys!!
I had tires put on my car at Firestone and the car didnt feel right to me. I brought it Penfield Service and they discovered one bent rim and the rear alignment was off. Even though the alignment was a few dollars more at Penfield they were able to get me a used GREAT looking rim for nearly half the price. They completed the alignment correctly and now I feel safe on the road! They took me through the all the steps and made me comfortable about spending money on a good repair. It all balanced within my budget in the end. KUDOS gentlemen you are TRUE professionals!

These 1star postings are either for another Penfield auto service in New York or those people are complete a-holes.. We have been a customer for 15 years with three cars in our family and I wouldnt trust our cars with ANY other place than Penfield. They are honest (a rare quality), do not overcharge, and have incredible customer service (they even have free coffee while you wait). They wont try to sell you on something you dont need. Bob and Mike are the best. I actually look forward to getting my oil changed because they are so entertaining! This business is the poster-child for what a small business used to be and thankfully they are still here!

Ive been going to Penfield for the past 6 to 8 months, for repairs on my Honda CRV and my moms Chevy Malibu. Mike at the front desk & Bob the owner are great guys. Theyre friendly! Theyre honest! I had a short list of concerns for my CRV, but Mike assured me that these were minor issues that did not require immediate repair. Needless to say, I will go to Penfield for all my future repairs, and YOU should too.

The guys at Penfield Service in Fairfield were great to deal with on a recent exhaust repair/replace. I am in Iowa, my Daughter a recent transfer to the Fairfield CT area had developed an exhaust leak and was getting exhaust fumes into the car. I called and talked to the owner on Wednesday, had her take the car in for an estimate early Thursday morning. The estimate was fair and they could get the parts and repair it right then, and she could still make it to work on time.Their customer service is greatly appreciated. It made a difficult situation for me, very easy.Thank you!
When I questioned the bill Bob couldnt have been more rude! Acted as if he shouldnt have to justify the bill? Said it is what it is? Made call to Honda service to find out as I thought was overcharged, shocker? Never use a service center!

Worst place to bring your car! Every time I brought the car it left with something else not working not to mention they seem to always leave the bolts loose. I even had an incident where they replaced the rear struts the bolt came entirely off and the tire then started rubbing on the strut, did I mention that this happened while my daughter was driving on 95 couldve been a lot worse thank God it wasnt
I went in there wanting a tune up and to fix my AC. I spent 600 for a few burnt wires. I got no tune up and a day later my AC blew again probably cause the car is working to hard cause it needs a tune up still, even though they think otherwise. My car has a really bad squeak when I brake and they said that was normal which it is not. So im back where I started but a lot broker. Also they stole the quarters from my car as well. THIS PLACE SUCKS, DONT RECOMMEND THEM

This is the only place I trust with my 2 year old car . The dealers are so horrible and incompetent that it’s a waste to bring it and s headache . Here they can keep track of appointments wich they can’t at the dealer and that’s simply the most basic thing to ask for . This is a mellow place . They fix your car and it’s done right so you can think about something else . That’s the way all places should be but out of all of them here this is the only place like that . Ask questions and ask to look at the car while it’s being repaired if you want . That’s no problem here .
