Great experience here! Very helpful staff and service with a smile. I came in with some ideas of what I needed and they immediately helped me get everything together. They provided honest advice to help save me money. The owner was very knowledgeable and personally attentive to me as a customer. I would recommend myLocal HomeBrew Shop for any homebrew or beer related needs.
Derek runs an amazing shop here. I can say with confidence I wouldnt be where Im at today in homebrewing without him. He is super informed, knowledgeable, and eager to help. After purchasing a used kegerator, he patiently helped me piece together missing parts and prepare for my transition from bottling to kegging. Couldnt have done it without him.His kits are also top notch - every brew Ive made from his personal kits has been fantastic. We currently have the raspberry honeysuckle ale in the kegerator and my fiance loves it. Really looking forward to having folks over to try it out.In addition to being a top-notch homebrew shop, they always have a fantastic selection of beers on tap for growler and crowler fills, as well as singles and sixers to take home. And thats not all! They even have great food from local vendors. Whether beer, food, or snacks, its something new and fresh each time.Really love every trip I can make over here as they are always incredibly helpful, kind, and insightful. Ill never shop anywhere else for my homebrew supply.
This family owned shop is a great place to visit for home brewing. They also sell local sauces and beer.
A great local place to buy brewing supplies at a fair price. The inside area of the store isnt open to go in due to COVID but they help you out from the entrance. They have a website and you can call or email if you have questions. Even though they stay busy enough to where they try to take care of customers in order based on website sales, Derek will still be glad to help you out if you drop by.
This place is great! The owner has a ton of knowledge about every step of the brewing process. He will guide you through all of and not try to over sell you on things you don’t need. You will walk away confident you can brew! They are so good, they were able to fix a problem with my CO2 and keg setup I didn’t even know I had.
Great little homebrew shop with a good selection. They have great customer service and the owner is always friendly and helpful. Even though this shop is a bit out of my way, Ive made this place my go to brew stop.
Extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and answered all of my questions. They’ve been a great resource for me as a novice and I’ve had nothing but positive and informative interactions every time I go.
Very helpful and friendly staff. If you need information, they can help you find it. Think of them as librarians for your brewing needs that happen to also sell anything you might need.
There arent enough good things to say about this place. They are extremely knowledgeable and helpful and will have an answer to any questions you have. If youre a new brewer its the first place you want to go. They always have the ingredients I need or a suitable substitute. Great selection of beer too. Honestly an awesome spot to just hang out and drink and talk beer. My second favorite part of brewing, after actually drinking the beer, is getting to shop here.
The owner is fantastically knowledgeable and genuinely interested / passionate about his business. I was surprised that they also sell CO2. Ill be going back for all our beer & kegorator needs!
Everything you need to make your own beer along with a great craft beer selection.
Terrific Place! Knowledgeable star with great prices and a large selection from brewing equipment to ingredients. Prices are fair and the customer service is top notch. When you have a question you get the right answer. Great folks to deal with.
Excellent home brewing store! The shop is always clean and products are managed to make sure I’m purchasing the freshest ingredients. The owner Derek is in the store and takes pride in his business. I couldn’t ask for better customer service or a more knowledgeable staff.
Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Answered all my questions, as Im just getting into home brewing. Good selections of hops and yeasts, kits, and other needed supplies (caps, sanitizer, etc)
Owner took lots of time to talk to us about equipment we might need and walk us through things. Will definitely be coming back!
Small shop, but very efficient and well stocked. I got a order with about 10 very spesific grains and hops the next day exactly as ordered.
Helpful staff and great online ordering system. They have everything you need to brew.
Great little spot for supplies, ingredients, and local treats. Stock and supply of some ingredients can be limited, if there is something you need for a recipe, worth calling ahead. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Easy curbside pick up
Cool place. You can get a great craft beer and homebrew supplies. Drew is very knowledgeable.
I truly enjoy being a patron of this store. The hours are reasonable (and recently expanded), the prices are fair for the localized service, and the advice I get from the staff is highly valuable. Could you possibly do better in price online? Of course, but unless youre a pro, youre likely to make a mistake. A couple weeks ago, I was trying to put together a new mash tun, and the owner sat with me to piece together the necessary fittings. In addition, I have been able to call-in recipes over the phone and have them available for pickup. To answer the reviews about the service: The staff can seem quite harried at times, but they certainly will be helpful if you ask them a question, but you have to be patient when they are busy (just like any busy retail location). The trick to getting their undivided attention is to go on a weekday--avoid Saturdays if you really want more than a minute or two of advice. Anyone whos been there will know that Saturdays are typically packed with patrons round-the-clock. If you were to take time on a weeknight, or a morning, you will get great conversation, and fantastic advice. This store has really come a long way in having more and more available products. They generally never run out of any hop, boasting every variety--this is huge if you want guaranteed freshness.
Great little shop, on point with their knowledge, always a great focused election of cold beers and beers on tap. Great location, easy to get to.
These guys are great. Even during lockdown they processed my order fast and were helpful with brewing advice . Glad I came across this shop
Great local shop. They have a variety of ingredients for all scales of brewing. Pre-packaged grains and ones by lb to weigh. Staff is very knowledgeable as well, plus they will help you find the right ingredients for your brew. I am always welcomed when I come in and feel like I am appreciated as a customer. Been coming here consistently now. If you are wanting to get into craft beer, this is a great place to start.
I dont home brew so I cant comment on the brewing supplies, but I can comment on the beautifully curated draught list and super friendly staff. Its a great place to fill your growler with some excellent craft beer from breweries such as Adroit Theory, Commonwealth, and Captain Lawrence. The staff are happy to let you sample before committing to a full growler and to geek out about beer and breweries with you. Good stuff.
Great staff, great store, happy customer. Enroll in the points program it will save you money when you need it.
My LHBS is amazing! All the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Be sure to ask them their recommendations on your recipes - they have never steered me wrong! They have saved me enormous effort and money on all the MacGyvering that comes along with homebrewing.
Sat on posting this for a while, as at the time I was pretty sad and angry over it. Had been a decently long time customer of the shop with my dad. Staff was generally really great for a long time, and had been spot on with helping us get our hands on kits and items we had wanted. When it came time to make a large purchase on some gear (1k worth), I wanted to use a gift card that my girlfriend at the time had gotten me (about 100 bucks). We had lost the actual card, but still had the receipt and the confirmation over email. The staff could confirm that we had not used to card to buy anything in our purchase history, but wouldnt honor the value towards anything because we didnt have it. The problem was they couldnt prove we hadnt sold it to someone else, thinking that we might be trying to scam them. They explicitly said they were going to change systems because they didnt like not being able to see if a customer was essentially trying to rip them off like this. The most disappointing aspect was that they basically accused a long time customer, and someone whose money they had already taken in good faith, of trying to scam them. They lost our business to several of the online outlets, who honestly have turned out to be less expensive and have a wider selection.Beware of myLocal HomeBrew - youre a valued customer, until youre not.
This is a great place. The guys will help you pick tap or can or canned/ bottled beer. Im anyways amazed how much they remember about my tastes. I dont home brew much but theyve been really helpful then as well.
They have a great selection of brewing supplies. Although the shop is small, I can always find any piece of equipment Im looking for. However they always seem to be out of several kinds of hops. Ive never been able to visit the shop (been there at least 6 times) and leave with all of the hop styles I came in looking for, I always have to substitute at least one of my hops for something else that they have in stock that day. I also wish they had longer hours on Sundays (open from 12-4) because navigating the hellish roads near the store is not worth the headache to go there during the week.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great selection of merchandise.I just saw some of the other reviews, and was surprised to read that people were unhappy with the customer service. In my experience the staff has been patient and knowledgeable. I did not purchase anything on my first visit, and I did not get an annoyed vibe. Unless things change, I foresee myself using them for my brewing needs.
Ive been going here for years. Its a nice little shop, well stocked and friendly people.
Great small store with lots of options. They have bulk malt for brewing, small home brew kits and large, things for beginners and experienced brewers. They even have some brews on tap to try while you decide what to buy! Great place.
Small store but they have everything you could ask for (or they can order it) bought an immersion chiller for a decent price. They have hops and grains available too. I drove about an hour to get here and its worth it. The location is a little odd.
Great little home brew store with a lot of supplies. Super friendly and good prices on everything. Its my go to in the area!
Great place to get homebrew supplies.
They have everything, even the most hard to find and esoteric ingredients. I have yet to leave this place without the exact items I came for. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and always happy to talk shop. I only wish the hours were more convenient.
Decent place. My questions were answered by the second person I talked to. The first showed me the wine room and told me he did not know very much and got another person to answer my questions I had. They were answered but very vaguely and not really any specifics. But decent place
Ive been going here for years, and its always been my first choice for supplies (and more recently, beverages of the inebriating sort). Staff is always super friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to help. I dont know how many times Ive looked for specialty parts or ingredients, but theyve always been willing to special order, or direct me to a supplier, for those hard to find items. Count me in as a loyal customer.
Im torn. We have always had good interaction with the staff and the fill selection is always interesting. But when you get a crowler fill there are extra charges for the can and the government warning label. In principle I understand but the only place this comes across is on the receipt at checkout. I didnt see any signage and neither of the staff mentioned it. It just felt a little sneaky when it added 25% to the price of the fill.
Love this shop. Best prices in the area and a great selection of good materials. The owner is pretty awesome as well.
Being new to brewing I had a great experience going to this store.Helpful and knowledgeable they set me in the right direction. A lot of reviews on here have had a much different experience then I did but I can say that mine was great and Ill be going back for my next batch of brew!
The staff are all extremely friendly and knowledgeable. This place has all your homebrewing needs covered! For such a small store, their selection of hops, yeasts, and specialty malts/grains is quite large. I love this place!
Probably the best retail experience that I have had recently. I worked with Derek to order a Ruby Street Brewing system. The order process was simple and any questions that I had were answered quickly and thoroughly.
Great little shop with everything you need for home beer, cider, mead, and wine brewing
The guys at LHBS are fantastic and extremely helpful. Their beer and brewing knowledge is encyclopedic. Highly recommend them to novice and experienced brewers alike.
Our local homebrew shop. Great for beer making supplies. They recently (2015 or 2016?) added a section to buy bottles of beer. The staff are super helpful to new home brewers. Also they have hop candy!
They have a decent selection but the pricing is not very competitive.
Great help from knowledgeable and friendly staff, and a good assortment of brewing equipment and consumables. Also, they now sell bottled beer, and have ~8 rotating taps for filling growlers! All this, with prices competitive with or better than internet vendors.
I meandered in recently ago to get some supplies for my first brewing attempt. I had a good idea where I wanted to go with things and didn’t want a premade kit, and staff was very helpful making sure I had everything I wanted. They never tried to push me into buying extra product and gave me everything I needed for a good start, and helped suggest low cost options for what I wanted to do. Regarding the bad reviews I see from a while back, I think it’s worth revisiting the store.
The staff knows their beers and will happily help you out with any questions you may have. Big selection of brewing supplies, and you can also get growler fills! Will definitely hit them up again next time Im in Seven Corners.
They have all you might need and not bad prices!
Ive been going to MyLHBS off and on for six years. The store is run by a very knowledgeable guy named Greg. Hes active in the home brewing community and is a good, if curmudgeonly, guy. Of late they have had some trouble managing their inventory. So keep in mind that they may run out of your grains or hops if you visit late in the day.
The had the parts I needed and taught me what I needed to know. Very friendly and knowledgeable.
Enjoyed my first visit here. After over 20 years out of brewing, they were very helpful in helping me select a beer to restart my brewing hobby.
Very knowledgeable staff, provides suggestions on recipes and process, good selection of adjunct grains by weight, growler refills available.
Local go-to for homebrewing supplies, craft beer, and expert advice. Always helpful, always appreciated.
The guys at mylocal HomeBrew, Derek & Derek, are knowledgeable and very helpful. They have a great selection and this is definitely a mainstay for any home brewer.
Great customer service, you can tell they love their hobby and theyre more than willing to share their expertise. Great selection of beer to boot! (Because you need to drink beer while you brew beer)
I went to myLHBS a couple weeks ago - my first trip to a home brew store - after beginning to learn about brewing with a local group of friends. I had some basic knowledge and a recipe in my pocket. Not only was the staff patient and walked me through really understanding my recipe and what I needed, but the other patrons in the store helped me out (obvously had been there before) and gave me tips and we all had a few laughs. I had built some of my own equipment and the staff pointed me towards the odds and ends I needed and why one product was better than an other. They even helped me lug all my stuff out to my truck.Top notch place. If I need anything next time I brew - this is my place.
Theyre very helpful and have everything you need
Helpful staff. But bit limited product line. Good for immediate needs when Amazon wont work for you. Will visit again as necessary.
I come here pretty regularly. Not as cheap as going online, but it is very convenient. Co2 is fairly expensive (28$ per fillup when I went) and I dont think their mill crushes very well, but a good selection otherwise of home brew supplies and plenty of beer for sale (though a bit pricey).
I needed an airlock and grommet. They were able to find me the right size
The staff is what make this place amazing. If they are not giving you advice on brewing, they are talking about all things beer related! Derrick is a life saver!
Always very helpful staff and plenty of ingredients to meet your brewing needs! Love this place, open on Sundays too!
Friendly, knowledgeable staff who are more than willing to educate the newbie brewer. Good prices, too.
3:56 PM on a Sunday. Google maps said I was 3 min away. Called to ask if they could stay open an extra 60-120 seconds to grab some yeast for a brew and I was told. We are closing our doors at 4 pm, sir. Never going back. I wish I would have bought my carboys at the place in Manassas.
Sometimes it seems the staff are more interested in talking about what they want but not helping customers answer the questions they have. Great inventory though!
Great place and reasonably price with personnel willing to answer all of your questions.
I have not had the negative experience described in some of the reviews. To me it is certainly possible that there were some problems starting out but they seem to have got everything in line now. My experience has been stellar and I have quickly become a regular customer.
Knowledgeable, friendly beer geeks. Who could ask for more? Now open Sunday.
I will not be going back or giving this shop my business. I visited the shop today, interested in upgrading my kettle. I picked up a kettle on display that I was interested in purchasing and was immediately yelled at by the shop owner. I was told immediately to put that back, that kettle is worth 400! Not sure if this business owner treats all visitors like little children, but he lost me as a customer. His kits and variety were nothing special. You cant even purchase grains or hops in small amounts. Pricing is comparable to online prices (some things were more expensive). I love supporting local business, but I would pass on this one.
Great little shop with a caring, professional staff. In reference to another review: don’t blame a store for the fact that you lost your own gift card.
As a first time brewer the gentleman at the front was very helpful at fining me what I needed. Im making wine and he knew all the products that I needed, not included in the kit I purchased.
Very friendly and knowledgeable about the craft. These guys are a 1 stop shop for home brewers or those who are curious.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. More then willing to answer questions
Fantastic shop! Concentrated on the home brewer and the home brewer needs. No frills, no nonsense, everything you need to byodb!
Great selection for such a small store. Extremely friendly and helpful staff.
VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! I visited the store recently. The staff was extremely condescending, and when I finally talked to them, they treated me like a second class person because I didnt know the specific terms -- this was my first trip to the beer store.I later called and asked a couple questions, same experience. The conversation literally ended with the guy saying I dont know what you are trying to do. Unfortunately I gotta get back to helping some customers. Exact quote.
Very knowledgeable, courteous and good product selection. Highly recommended....
Love this place. Pretty good selection, but more importantly, educated staff that is very helpful.
If you have not been here for a while, they have growler fills on rotating faucets. They also have bottled beers and interesting snacks.
Re-entering the hobby after a 20-year absence. The staff brews. A lot. And work as a team to get answers to questions. All really good folks. The guy I assume is the owner comes across as a little crabby sometimes but is hardly churlish -- if I had taken the risk to open such a shop Id be nervous myself. I just wish he had not called my very feminine wife sir when he had to ask her to move aside -- now she wont come back into the shop.
Very knowledgable and gave me a coupkenof great tips on ways to brew a cleaner pumpkin beer.
Cool store with awesome selection of beer. Great guys!
Excellent service and definitely knowledgeable about home brewing. Will visit again.
Learn how to make your own brew for a little or a lot, these guys know the craft
Nice local home brew shop. The staff is helpful and they have a great selection of supplies for all types for brewing.
These guys know their stuff, very helpful and good selection.
Best spot in 7 Corners. Great service and unique beers.
Great selection.Staff is always friendly and hella helpful.
Nice place, well stocked with brewing supplies. Prices are reasonable.
Great place for getting started in beer or wine, great beer selection, awesome staff. Its my go-to place.
Helpful staff -- you can get the Im not sure exactly what I need questions answered very quickly, which is an experience you wont get ordering online.
They have a good selection of hops, yeast, and malts. Store size is small, but decent selection for basic homebrewer. Primarily go there because you know you can get hops and yeast last minute if something comes up. They even added taps recently.I will never visit their store again. My brewing partner and I will now shop primarily online or drive 30 minutes out of the way to go see Cathy at BrewLoCo due to poor customer service.I have shopped there over 3 dozen times, usually once a week as its the closest shop to my new house, but I have never been impressed with their customer service. They have always treated me (aside from the younger Derek who is kind) like it should be my honor to give them money. I always know what I want when I go to the store and most of the time its on my way home from work. If you walk in the store anywhere within 15 minutes of closing you will get the vibe that you are an uninvited guest who will be kicked out at any moment...in fact they do kick you out and make it very clear when you are no longer wanted. Any inconvenience to the owner and it shows immediately from his demeanor. He will give you a curt response if you ask anything about beer that doesnt end with your dollars in his hands.I usually shrug things off pretty easily, but after multiple interactions with the owner Im done. The last one involved me asking him for help and was greeted with a short, annoyed response that was received as Nope, outta luck here bud. He only offered to explain why he couldnt help me after he realized he lost my business. Only needed him to say, Couldnt help you in the way you wanted, but let me find another solution to your problem. That thought never crossed his mind and I dont know if he could eve think of putting the customer first.Only saving grace for this store is the younger, red headed Derek. He has on numerous occasions gone out of his way to make sure I could do the thing I love...brew beer. Thank you my ginger bearded friend.
These guys rock. You need knowledgeable folks to help out, this is your place!

Great local home brew store. I really enjoyed talking with the people working there, they really helped me out.
