I had an annual eye check yesterday with Dr Doan. I had not seen her before, even though I have been going to the practice for over 20 years. I was extremely impressed with Dr Doan. The practice has ultra-modern equipment enabling them to check for glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts and retina tears in a totally non-invasive way and without dilation. This is one of the reasons why I wont go anywhere else. Olivis, the tech that performed the initial tests was also excellent. Dr. Doan stepped me through the results of all the tests and we reviewed in detail the photos of my eyes. She was so thorough and clear and friendly -- just excellent.

Dr. Hubert was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, kind, and a top-notch communicator. I was very impressed by all of the staff here and the ability to make a same-day appointment. I highly recommend!

The glasses they provided were incorrect. They promised new ones in less than two weeks. Eight weeks later I have not heard from them, called them, and was told to get lost.

Dr. Doan has provided my wife and I with extreme professionalism, offers technical evaluations when needed, and takes the time to very adequately explain and compare previous results with current ones. She is always pleasant and respectful and has a wonderful personality that she uses to enhance and share her expertise. A great place overall.

Calling to ask to see your doctor in an emergency and was told no one was available. Was told I needed to find a different doctor to see me. Even though Dr. Richter explicitly said to call back if it worsened. Terrible patient care. Would not recommend to anyone who is looking for more than just a pair of glasses.

This review is specific to Alicia Kim and the Myopia Control Clinic within this office. Avoid. If you have problems with pediatric myopia go somewhere else, ideally to a medical doctor who specializes in eye and vision care---an ophthalmologist. Optometrists and ophthalmologists are not the same. For medical treatment ideally you should see a medical doctor, especially since your costs are likely to be out-of-pocket.Ms. Kim is not an ophthalmologist, she is an optometrist, an abrasive one with the bedside manner of a dead fish. Upon entering the examination room within the first few utterances from her mouth she questioned the paternity of my child, Obviously, your child is adopted. My child is not adopted, nor would this be an acceptable thing to state even if they were.If her manners and limited credentials are not enough for you to reconsider and go to an ophthalmologist, the Myopia Control Center is, undoubtedly, a money-making enterprise which targets unknowledgeable customers. Upon entering the door, you are handed a payment plan and schedule of upwards of thousands of dollars for treatment even before seeing Ms. Kim. After a battery of exams, of which none provide any actionable information (there are only two courses of treatment for worsening pediatric myopia), you are told you need one of the treatments. This was likely a foregone conclusion before you entered the building, as otherwise you would probably not be there.The plan requires excessive testing, for seemingly no reason other than to provide the office legal cover as the treatments for pediatric myopia are not FDA approved. The limited literature on treating pediatric myopia is relatively conclusive on one of the treatments, low concentration atropine drops, and the outcomes of these tests are highly unlikely to influence any decision regarding using them. Despite this, for drops only they require an annual payment of $1200 for repeated check-ups and test, in addition to $100 for 90 days of drops. In the end you are paying $1600/yr for a prescription and eye drops which would likely cost around $300 if were able to buy them directly.Updated on 4/8/2021: We took our child to a real doctor (with a medical degree at Northern Virginia Ophthalmology Associates). She said everything this place suggested was excessive and unnecessary. She said once we choose to go through the treatment, we have to continue for the next 2 years and his condition is not bad, so we should just monitor my childs eyes for the next 6 months.

Staff is very unprofessional and there is a lack of communication. Last two visits were absolutely terrible.

Update: After posting my original review someone from their office reached out to me immediately to look into and rectify the situation. Much appreciated & changed my experience, so for this I happily upped my rating to 4 stars. :)I really regret going here. They said they would call when a trial pair of contacts arrived and never did, so it took 2 weeks for my follow up after the initial exam. Then at my follow up they claimed that they ordered a 6 month supply of contacts for me which was covered by my insurance, and never called back again this time either. When I went back to the store to see what happened they said a) they couldn’t find evidence of the order at all and b) it would be a different price and not fully covered by my insurance. This place is a whole entire mess and wasted so much of my time. Just don’t go here.

My wife an I have been going to NVDO for over 15 years. We have never had a bad experience. We were just at the Falls Church office on December 28, 2020. Once again, a great experience. The staff is pleasant and knowledgeable. In particular, Doctor Doan is a true professional and very helpful.

As usual, Dr. Doan and her support staff were outstanding. She diagnosed the cause of my eye pain and recommended the appropriate therapy.

This was my first time going to an optometrist and it was a great experience. The front desk staff were very patient as I tried to figure out my vision insurance details (didnt realize it is separate from my general insurance!). The exams were easy and I appreciated that the doctor and technicians explained what all of the machines and exams are for. It was super easy to schedule an appointment, with ample parking out front.

I have requested my eye exam results more that 3 times; they refuse to send me my results. They keep telling me they are going to send it in an email, which they never do.

Having a complex eye condition that requires specialty contacts. Dr. Bhalani does an amazing job fitting my contacts plus he’s very down to earth. Love that they have evening appointments so I can conveniently schedule around work and can typically be seen in 1-2 weeks. Appreciate all of their help. Would highly recommend them.

Not so good with meeting their promise and schedule. It almost took 2 months to get my eyeglasses, due to issues with the lab.Excellent staff, very happy dealing with Brianna who got involved and took care. I was happy at the end to receive my new pair of eyeglasses. And, getting reimbursed with an additional pair of lenses at no cost.

Not happy with my experience. Here are a few reasons why:1. I felt pressured to buy glasses from them after I expressed not liking their selection.2. After my exam, I asked for my glasses prescription to be emailed to me, which they agreed to. They did not send me a signed prescription to be used at another glasses store. I had to call several times to ask them to send me a signed copy, but they said they weren’t able to get it because the doctor was busy. I then physically went back to the store to ask for my prescription. Once I was there, my prescription, signed, was sitting on the counter and they handed it to me. Why could it not be emailed to me? Very frustrating.3. After finally getting my glasses prescription, I went to another company and spent money on my new glasses only to find out a few months later that the prescription given to me wasn’t correct. Now I’m having to spend money on new lenses because I can’t see!I do not plan to return here. Not worth the hassle!

One word. RUDE! If they paid more attention to the customer they might be better at there job. Ovoid this place and save yourself the headache

I was in need of a new optometrist as mine had moved to Fairfax, so I chose to come to NoVA Drs as they were part of my network. I felt very welcomed and well received, and everyone was most helpful and efficient. The admin staff had not seen my discount plan before but diligently looked up the relevant info and handled authorization and paperwork to allow me to take full advantage of my benefit. Brianna was so personable and helpful with choosing frames for the two pairs of glasses I needed, and I walked out very satisfied with my experience. I especially liked the vibe I felt of camaraderie among the staff, and I shouldn’t forget to mention Dr Alicia Kim, who did my exam.

NVOD has consistently been a pleasure to deal with as we tend to our eye health. The doctors and staff are professional as well as extremely personable. My family trusts them explicitly and highly recommend them to anyone wanting the greatest eye care.

This is a one stop shop for eye care! Not only do you receive great quality eye care from a qualified optometrist, but you are able to have screenings for glaucoma, visual field tests, retinal scans (no more inconvenient eye dilations!) as well as vision screenings. They have a wide variety of frames available as well as different types of lenses to suit your wants/needs (low glare, progressives, transitions, etc. Watch for their trunk shows where they have fabulous deals!). They also have a good variety of types of contact lenses and often have samples in stock for you to try before you decide to buy an entire box. They make and repair lenses and repair frames on site and are quick and accurate in the process. All in all, a great place to go to save time on eye care and receive excellent service!

Excellent doctors, good support staff. Good selection of frames for purchase, but you dont need to purchase from them if you dont want to. Ive been coming here for over 20 years and have always been satisfied. Ive seen Dr. Doan the last 18 years and she is wonderful. Definitely recommend

Lets not be silly and rate the front desk staff: they were excellent, btw. But you go there for your vision care so Ill attest that Dr. Doan is every bit great. Shes competent and shes exceedingly nice! Ive been with them for 8 years and have nothing but good to say, whether you go to the Falls Church, Crystal City or Alexandria location -- and I have been to all of them.

A cheerful, well organized, and efficient office. During the routine exam, Dr. Miller alerted us to eyelid droops which we have successfully corrected. She and her clinicians work quickly and thoroughly, but take the time to listen to and address all our concerns. It is pleasant not to have to be dilated for exams, as they have the latest digital scanning equipment.

I have been a patient of this practice for over 25 years. Always professional -- everyone in the practice. And extremely thorough and knowledgeable and provide personalized service. I trusted my sons eyes to this practice as he was growing up. And he is still a patient and I expect his daughter will be, too.

My daughter and I had our annual contact les/eye exam with Dr. Linda Miller this week. Dr. Miller is wonderful. She takes the time necessary and is creative in her solutions to not so typical vision issues. She is personable and easy to talk to and always asks about family members, etc. She is just a lovely person who is also a wonderful, professional, knowledge eye doctor. I and my family (we all see Dr. Miller) highly recommend her!

I have been to many optometry offices in the past year and this one is by far the best! The doctor I saw listened to everything I had to say and I did not feel rushed at all. The receptionists and assistants were both very polite. They were also considerate of my financial situation as a student and I didnt feel as though they were trying to push anything unnecessary on me.I am incredibly satisfied with my experience here and am happy I have finally found one that is right for me! Couldnt have had a better experience - as a first time customer, I felt the service was efficient and everyone in the office was so friendly and accommodating. Dr. Miller took her time with my eye examination and the staff was very kind to go over with me what was covered and not covered through my insurance. I received prompt phone calls when my contacts and glasses were ready for pick up and the staff member Ben couldnt have done a better job helping me pick out the most perfect pair of glasses. Definitely will be a repeat customer!

A professional team from the doctors to the sale team. My three stars reflects the actually products sold. I purchased a pair of glasses that included special coatings, etc. I think the frames and lenses cost close to $800. My lenses have started to delaminate making it appear as if I have oil marks on my lenses. I called the store and the let me know there is a one year warranty and there was nothing they could do. Disappointed.

I saw Dr. Alicia Kim and had a fantastic experience. I appreciated that the doctor seemed to genuinely care about my wellbeing. She took the time to understand my medical history and worked with me to find the right solution. At the visit, I needed to upgrade my glasses and I appreciated that the office staff didnt try to constantly upsell me to more expensive packages. Compared to other eye doctors in the NOVA area, the quality of service was excellent and the prices were fair. My new favorite place for my eye health needs!

Ive been a patient for over 10 years because Dr Doan is as personable as she is professional. You really couldnt find a doctor with better bedside manners anywhere, and her detailed explanation of all she does to care for my eyes is always very reassuring. Add to that an attentive, friendly, and efficient staff and NVDO easily earns its five stars.

Both my wife and I see Dr. Sapho Doan at the Falls Church location of NVDO. We are so pleased with her that we drive all the way from Remington VA. to get our exams. She explains everything in plain language and not a bunch of medical terms. She will answer any questions with same plain language so that you know exactly what is up with your eyes. The rest of the staff is just as wonderful too. No surprises anywhere.

My experience with Dr. Miller was really wonderful. She was so throughout and patient. She really took the time to figure out what was wrong with my vision. I left feeling like she was my friend and very confident in the next steps for my care.

Eye have been seeing Dr. Miller for a long time. She provided exceptional care as my astigmatism is a challenge to get corrected, and my eyes change constantly. Cathy, the Optician, is exceptional too, and the new guy, Ben, seems to know what hes doing.

There’s no other place that you consider home away from home. You’re family as soon as you walk in the door. The hostility you get is PRICELESS!

I stopped going here and found another doctor for contact lenses when my doctor left this office. Something about the vibe. I just dont want to be a customer for this place based on the fact they just get to bill my insurance. What goes with that. I look for thoroughness in a place. It left when my doc left.

My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Linda Miller for probably 20 years. We live in Rockville, MD so its a trip to get there but we continue to see her because of her care for us. She is professional, warm, and we feel she does what is best for us.

After a few years of my eyesight going south, I found them through my insurance company web site. They got me in right away, and Dr. Kim was great, and patient with my eyes. I should get my new much better vision in a couple days.

Near sighted my whole life, but now dealing with the vision problems that begin as we get older.They are very caring, very efficiency, and very high tech. Far more than just checking for glasses, they look at every aspect of vision, bringing in specialists when necessary.

Doan and Bhalani and cannot express my gratitude to them enough for all they’ve done to help manage my keratoconus over the years. I went in to pick up my moms glasses that she dropped off to have the frames done. When I walked in, I made eye contact with one of the workers at the tables that i needed to pick up some glasses. Another worker told me to sit over there without saying exactly where since Ive never been there. I asked nicely if she meant at the spot I was pointing at and she rudely told me yes. She was a woman who was working sometime around 1-2 PM on 1/28/16. Everyone else there was very friendly but her. I have never been so ticked off at someones attitude that I would write a review about me just picking up glasses for someone else.

I have been seeing Dr. Vroustouris since 1990. I would highly recommend her for your eye health. She has a wonderful bed side manner, shes extremely knowledgeable and always has my best interest in mind when under her care. I wish more doctors were as sincere and caring when treating my health and giving advice. Im also very please with NVDO support people who help w/ selecting frames. They are willing to made adjustments to my frames when I need repairs. I have NO desire to seek another group of optometrist for my eye health. I am VERY PLEASED !!

Dr. Doan really understands how to use the latest technology in analyzing my conditions and dialing in a perfect solution. My vision has never been clearer with the remedy she designs. I am 63 years old, I have Diabetic Retinopathy [Type 1] with acute Myopia, my night vision is impaired and I have a stigmatism. My vision has never been clearer, the glasses and contacts she prescribes has never been better even though the disease has progressed. The facility has brand new cutting edge technology and instruments that make a huge difference in diagnosis. The two facilities I visited are convenient and above all clean and sanitized properly [having a compromised Immune system, it is a great concern to me]. However as well equipped and maintained a facility is, it is the operator of that equipment that makes the difference; and Dr. Doan is a virtuoso on those instruments like Young Joo Chang on a Stradivarius, and Harvey Lavan Cliburn on a finely tuned Steinway Concert Grand.:)

Have been visiting this office for 15+ years and they provide excellent service. I had an issue with my eye, and although my regular doctor was unavailable, i was scheduled with another, Dr. Kim, who saw me and provided a diagnosis in a way that i understood.

Many thanks to Dr. Hope Snively, who is one of the excellent practitioners with this group. Dr. Snively spent extra time with me yesterday, on what appeared to be an unusual busy day in the office, to ensure the best possible refractions fo army new eye glasses. D. Snively previous spotted a serious eye problem that I was unaware of, a situation that sent me to the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins, and likely saved my eyesight. Dr. Snively and her associates are at the top of my best-of-the-best health care list.

I have been a patient at this office for over 30 years. They have seen me with glasses and contacts - hard, gas perms and eventually soft. They were my pre and post-op providers when I had Lasik eye surgery and they continue to provide excellent service for my ongoing eye care. I highly recommend NVDO.

Comprehensive exam with expert recommendations for corrective lenses.

I have been seeing Dr. Vroustouris for two years now. She is truly wonderful and strives for excellence when assessing a prescription for your eyes. She was so determined to get me to 20/20 vision that she reassessed the prescription after 30 days (giving me a few sample contact lenses to take home) to make sure it was perfect for my eyes.My dilation was done by Dr. Briceno and she is just as wonderful as Dr. Vroustouris. She had me smiling during the whole procedure. She explained the procedure and results thoroughly and understandingly.The staff is also helpful, from picking out frames to paying bills they are all very happy to be of service to the patients. Im so glad I found this office!

Have been there several times for eye exam, getting glasses, contacts trials, and contacts classes and everyone has been very friendly, especially the nurse/technician that helped me throught the contacts process. My doctor is Dr. Vroustouris and she is very nice and really helpful.
