Pretty good for a premium burger. I had lunch here as there isnt any dining at Udvar Hazy, and its near the Metro terminal to take the train back towards the city.

Visit for the first time. Kind of disorganized but an abundance of boardgames! Been looking for a place like this in the DC area. The place to go if you are looking for something recent or from the past. Some reviews criticized the staff worker but I had no issue and he was very engaging. May have been a different staff member. Not sure. But I will visit again for sure.

I had the egg-white omelette with peppers and onions and it was delicious! Great selection and I love the jumbly lack of organization--makes me think some long-lost Kickstarter project from the nineteenth century could be under one of the tottering piles and I could be the lucky winner.

I called to find out if the store has the specific board game i was looking for. This store had the stock in store plus other versions that were mostly oos at other stores. Yes, it was a little messy but the guy who helped us knew where all the games are. Also he was super nice both on phone and in person!

It is dark in here and the board games are not organized in any order, that is why I love this place, you have to spend time there looking through all the products before you find one you like the look of. Staff are always helpful

Been in here a couple times to browse and find specifics. Mainly just board games and Warhammer. Only ever seen one employee and hes not much help. If your a first time customer I highly suggest going somewhere else with a better selection and more friendly caring staff

This place is a throwback to the nerd lairs of old. Its chaotic, a bit grimy, and utterly charming. I always find some cool stuff there, and I really appreciate how little its changed over the years and the reminders of days gone by.Big fan.

Great, welcoming store with a massive selection of board games, card games, and miniatures games with friendly staff. The employee that rang up my purchase was incredibly patient even when I had to split my purchase between cash and multiple cards, which I know would drive most people crazy. While the store is on the smaller side in terms of space to sit and play, they make up for it many times over with their incredible selection and friendly attitude. Will definitely return.

If youre looking for a game, they have it. I was very impressed from the moment I walked in. They have made use of every available inch of space to stock countless games and several tables for gaming.The staff was very friendly as well. I spoke to Adam on the phone about a D&D supplement that had just been released. Unfortunately they were fresh out, and before I had a chance to ask, he offered to set one aside for me when they were restocked!In summary, they have a huge selection and are very helpful. I highly recommend The Compleat Strategist.

This is a really neat place with a huge range of games. Only giving it 3 stars because the person working there has zero knowledge of customer service . I went in to purchase 3 full set of dice, as well as lose dice. When I asked him to help me find a d20 his response was to raise his voice at me and say .. it’s the one with 20 sides ! Of course .. I asked again, I said I know that but there is at least 200 dice in this container I do not know what it looks like .. he found one and basically tossed it at me . I had way more dice to buy I chose not to . The whole vibe of the place just felt wrong after this interaction. We had initially planned to maybe look at other board games but decided against it . As a new customer to the store I left extremely disappointed, they need to train their employees.

The best selection of board and war games in all of northern VA, and yes Im and avid whose been to every game store in the region that I could find. They also have a great selection of role play games and a good sci mins selection. Worth the trip and time to stop by.

The game selection is great, but customer service is terrible!!! Been in several times and every time is the same thing. This was the last straw! Went in and asked for a price on a game. Employee wouldn’t even get up to help out. Focused on painting his miniature instead. Was rude about it all, and wouldn’t help. Don’t think these guys care. Terrible!!! The place is a disaster on the inside. Games stacked in any nook and cranny they could find. Shelves caving in from all the games. A little help would’ve gone a long way. Never going back!

Excellent, classic independent store. I grew up coming into this place, and have great memories of it. This is a gamers game store, from the old school. The negative reviews on here are a bit silly: you dont like the piles of stuff in the corners, the old book smell, you dont like the old versions of games you have never heard of, you dont like the quiet but knowledgeable staff? Fine, then go somewhere else. Go to a box store or get on Amazon - go to a place that isnt a real Place. But come here when you want to meet serious players, tap into some deep knowledge, or just be Somewhere.

This store has a large and amazing selection of board games and role playing games as well. If you are looking for a rare or obscure game I would highly recommend that you stop in and check out the store!

The store is clean, professional, and welcoming from the second you walk in. The community is friendly - almost like family! Negative reviews here reflect issues with former management. They have a huge selection of games, and although their prices obviously dont compare to Amazon or other online stores, you have the benefit of supporting a local business that has been around for decades. This is the only gaming store Im willing to go to anymore for its casual, friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

This place is a classic game shop, carrying everything from board games to table tops and everything in between. It can be a little bit overwhelming on your first time there - there is a massive wall o games along one side of the store in roughly alphabetical order. Theres an entire room dedicated to manuals and the like for table top rpgs as well. Definitely a place to visit for your gaming needs!

A little disorganized and the staff took some warning up to, but their selection of board games is unmatched! There were board games literally everywhere in the store and it was enjoyable looking through them and after being in there a while, talking to the associate about them and some other games. Theres a better option for gaming down the street in Victory Comics. The Compleat Strategist suffers from what many games stores suffer from: Filthy, unorganized, lack of product knowledge (outside of the staffs personal favorites), incredibly rude/awkward regulars, and its all in a very small/cramped space. What makes this game shop stand out as worse than most is that their prices arent competitive and the hours of operation are unbelievably bad. Unfortunately they are still a valid option for things like role playing books and odd games, but you have to know what youre looking for and have the time to sift through literal piles of worthless garbage to get it. Although its nice that it doesnt smell bad.

Its well stocked, the folks are pretty friendly, but its a teeny tiny space, so moving around the store is pretty difficult, and it feels a little grungy, kind of like that old school game store feel.

The best store to my knowledge when it comes to carrying parlor, fantasy, and war games. Current manager IS helpful and nice.Disregard the den of iniquity comment. I dont go to Strategist to bathe or play games; I go there to find them.

Do you really expect more from a bunch of nerds that own/run this place? Good selection, yes amazon is going to be cheaper...I rather support these stinky nerds tho. Very disorganized, stock in piles on the floor and tables. Vaguely alphabetical. Unfortunately the only good location for a wide selection of wargames in the area, as Id prefer not to give a store this messy my money.

Compleat Strategist has a very friendly atmosphere and clearly markets to tabletop gamers. The games and other products are arranged a bit haphazardly, but this is otherwise a nice spot.

My girlfriend and I went in here to look for a specific game. Everyone was too busy playing in the middle of the store to say anything to us. Maybe Saturdays are not the best days to come into this store if you need to ask questions or be able to even look around.

Selection is amazing! Best collection of RPGs for sale I have seen in MD/DC/VA area. Same for board and card games as well. Lots of play space for their Friday Magic The Gathering games and Thursday RPG nights. Ample parking as well.

I pre-ordered a D&D book and swung by after work to pick it up very recently. The staff was exceptionally rude and very unhelpful, the store had a foul smell that resembled stale body odor air, and the space is cramped which left me feel claustrophobic. While their selection of games is large and they can order a wide variety of games, minis, books, oddities, etc., it still does not make up for the supreme lack of cleanliness and customer service.This local game store is unfortunately the closest one I have to my apartment and I want to continue to use them for pre-ordering D&D material because I believe in supporting local business, but I am going to think twice before the next printed material is available. If I were you, I would seriously think twice before you just stop by to have a chat with their employees about trying to find a new game for yourself.

Old school gaming store that sells at list price but might just have that funky old game you need. Used to play magic there for many years.

The people are an odd assortment of typically casual gamers. Fun is what they take seriously. Games of all shapes and sizes: rpgs, collectable games and tabletop games. Always a mess. Always a smile and a laugh.

Extensive selection but a hot mess, games literally stacked floor to ceiling and shoved under tables and in every nook and cranny if this store. Great for browsing but hard to find something specific.

Very old school game store, good wargame selection.

Swung by to pickup a game when I was in the area. Store is exceedingly small, and staff was kind of rude. Also, while the store had a fair selection of games, with a couple exceptions, they were all basically one-ofs, with no real stock of newer games. Much better FLGS in the DMV area.

The staff are extremely knowledgeable and interested in most of the content they sell. If you have a question or you arent sure what you want, or you know exactly what you want, this is where to go.

This is the filthiest den of iniquity Ive had the displeasure to step into. Items were unorganized and piled in the center of the shop, and the denizens were of questionable demeanor and character . I was ashamed to bring my family to this establishment as they were immediately repulsed by the atmosphere which reeked of BO and the staff, who reminded my mother of drug dealers. After this ordeal, family rejected wargaming altogether. Thanks Compleat Strategist.

If you are looking for board and card games, this place has it. However.....it...is....MES-SY! Everything is just kinda piled up on one side of the room. So if you are looking for something specific, you will be digging.
