Quick trip to VA and we came across this place. It was truly amazing from service to food to wine to desserts. You name it!!! Everything was delicious and the service was amazing, I felt like I knew our server for how friendly they were. The owner came over and greeted us as well. We also loved the wine selection and all around authenticity of the restaurant.
Excellent service. World class. Amazing food and mouth watering deserts. Highly recommend the Grandmother cake.
Awesome! Delicious! Handmade pastas! Great menu! Great service!! Whenever Im in the area I go to dinner at Sfizis.
Relaxing atmosphere for a late lunch on Thursday. The waiter was very courteous and checked on us regularly. We honestly dont remember the names of our dishes, but all were quite tasty. The bread was great--crispy on the outside but didnt tear up the roof of my mouth. The salads were also fresh. Adequate parking in the garage. Prices were reasonable. We recommend it.
What can I say. Food A+, service A+, wine A+..,, . Sfizi is just a few miles from the fancy chain restaurants in the Tysons area where you are just another sale. If you are near Falls Church you will not be disappointed, try it.
Excellent service. Wonderful description of food and wine. Food is simple, authentic and mouth-watering. Dato (server) is very charismatic and makes the entire experience even better.Discovered this place on a limb while working in the area. Definitely coming back!Goal: try every item on the menu.
Wow, what a great place, great atmosphere, great food and great staff. I took my sister to Washington, DC for a peaceful march and we decided to go to this restaurant close to our hotel. Our server was very happy, hospitable and made our visit special. We also met the owner, Lino. He was even more awesome. We had a blast. The next time I am in DC area, I plan to return and enjoy another great meal. I would drive out of my way to eat again at this restaurant. What a special place. Thanks for a great evening for my sister and I. It is one we will not forget.
The food is outstanding in the service is excellent. Really enjoyed the staff and getting to meet the owner. For very authentic cuisine I would highly recommend.
Great food but extremely popular and gets crowded.
Fantastic place to stop by for lunch. I love the environment and the staff. True 5 stars.
The best italian food anywhere in Falls Church. There is nothing I have tried that we didnt love! The really fun thing is also getting some of their imported ingredients from their mini market and cooking at home. The staff is very helpful and will offer you all sorts of suggestions!
Always have warm service here. Was pleasantly surprised with the perfectly grilled filet mignon last night. Excellent selection of nothing but Italian wines that are very reasonably priced. Relaxing atmosphere and great location.
Momma Mia....bellissimo! Service is exceptional and food is authentic. A must for Italian cravers. Excellent menu with matching staff.
Fantastic food. Ordered from Sfizi for the first time today after driving past several times. Loved my food. It arrived sizzling hot. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be ordering more as well.
Very tasty antipasto dishes and yummy desserts.
What a delightful experience for our first time dining experience at Sfizi cafe. Wonderful food selection in menu, fresh ingredients and great wine selection. Top that off with fantastic service, Dato was our server. Coming back to this place.....
Attentive staff along with excellent, reliable standards and specials that please the taste. Plenty of reasons to return. Did I mention the wine selection?
Tasty, homemade food. Reasonable prices and cozy atmosphere.
Excellent service and a excellent food. Enjoyed the suggestions from the waiters on the specials and wines. Wine selection is great. Gnocchi is delicious as well. Recommend to friends and family. Also found out that they have prepared dishes to cook at home. Will have to try those! :)Edit: went back again and enjoyed it. Their specials... *chefs kiss
Ever since we lived in Italy, we have been disappointed in 99% of the Italian restaurants weve tried. Sfizis, on the other hand is one of the BEST! They offer authentic Italian cuisine, and do not restrict you to the menu. They will prepare special requests. Beyond the food, this is the friendliest staff I have ever seen. So polite and attentive! HIGHLY recommend Sfizis.
Good Italian food in a lovely setting. The deli, bakery, and nice selection of other foods, olive oils, and wines really makes this place stand out.
Delicious, genuine Italian. They take their sweets and coffee seriously. Doppio macchiato recommended by the owner, yep. Doppio is double BTW. Haha. Will be zinging soon. Learned some Italian today. The dessert is a flan like piece of heaven. Will be back with my sweetheart the first chance I get. Chilled, got work done and was well fed waiting for my 430 appointment.
Dato took care of us. Great service! They have great food and we’re able to make me a great vegan pizza without cheese!!! Thanks
Hands down the best Italian I’ve ever had. Plus the service was so personal, it was a great overall experience. The only problem is that we don’t live in northern va so we won’t be able to have it again soon :) If you plan to dine in, give yourself extra time because everything is made very fresh and the Italian dining experience is just a little different / slower than what you might be used to.
This is the best Italian restaurant in the area. I picked up and it was quick. The food taste real and not frozen like other restaurants.
Great food with amazing service. Worth the price and has parking
Fantastic meal & great service. Wish I lived closer than 25+ miles away.
Cute little restaurant, amazing food and friendly staff! The cafe feels very authentic Italian and everything tasted amazing. They make everything to order and are very accommodating. For the pandemic, the tables were very well spaced out and only a couple were seated inside (most outside).
It was an amazing experience. Excellent food with excellent service. Very impressed.
In a sea full of generic Italian chains, Sfizi is a refreshing change and, I think, one of the few authentic Italian restaurants in the area. The atmosphere of the dining area is a little strange. Its a bar, combined with a bakery, combined with a wine cellar, combined with a cafe, combined with a grocery store. That said, what the restaurant lacks in atmosphere, it more than makes up for with its food and staff.Ive had the same waiter the last two times Ive gone and hes always been very helpful and friendly. He knows his menu very well and can make some great recommendations based off of what you think you like.On top of that, the pasta is some of the best Ive had. I cant spell the name of the pasta dish that I typically order, so Im not even going to try, but trust that it is made fresh and is absolutely delicious. The only thing Ill say about the food is that the portion sizes, at least during the lunch hour, are a little small. We typically order a medium pizza to share with the table to help assuage some of the inevitable hunger that remains after you finish your main course. All in all, very good food and an Italian restaurant well-worth visiting.
Great Italian food
Authentic italian food. Everything is good! Kind staff will come back sometime!
Love!! I wish we lived closer for this restaurant! Owners are so awesome and will make you feel very welcome. Food is outstanding.
Great wine! More on menu! Great desserts.
Such an A-1 place. Perfect Italian wine to go with perfect Italian dinner. Impeccable service. Desert and strong, rich coffee. Will definitely come again when in the area. Dont miss this one if you are around here. Thanks again.
I celebrated my nomination today in this great place. Well we enjoyed a marvelous evening and the venue was definitely one of the reasons for that fruitful meeting. The crew collaborated in a pleasant way, the food was delicious and my friends were very pleased. We shall surely return for more events. thanks very much.
The only thing I didnt like about the place is the food. maybe Im not used to authentic Italian food but I felt like the dishes were not done well or did not have a lot of love or even taste tested before put out there. the eggplant Parmesan layered baked was very chewy and the batter was strange needed some sort of other flavor. The lemon chicken had way too many capers and tasted overpowering with the lemon. could just be me but when I make Italian food I really tryto put a lot of love into it and make sure it tastes amazing. Im not sure if the cooks in the back are really putting that love into the food honestly maybe its a personal preference but I probably wont eat here again but I did enjoy the staff in the environment and thought it was very lovely
First time I tried Sfizi today for lunch. Excellent chicken parmesan with great pasta. Had a delicious glass of Italian Chardonnay. Theyve an extensive selection of Italian wine for retail purchase. Only negative is unusual ambiance, part grocer, restaurant, and bakery in a semi-basement setting.
We came on a Sunday evening with my family and were suggested a Family Style dinner, which worked out really well. We’ll be back again!P.S. ask for the Daily Specials
A very solid Italian restaurant.Sfizis serves pretty traditional fare but does it well. Weve been there three or four times and have never been disappointed. Most of the entrees are in the 20 to $30 range depending on whether you have pasta or meat and everything is pretty good. One nice thing is that theyre also a wine shop so they will essentially sell you a bottle of wine with a $10 corkage fee. That means you can get a pretty good bottle of wine with your meal for a reasonable price.
Very good food. Service was very friendly. We just moved here and were pleasantly pleased with the restaurant, having been stationed in Italy before
Authentic Italian, including Southern Italian where my roots are, and where I take out of town guests who want true italian food.
Sfizi Café in Falls Church, VA has the best Italian cuisine and dining experience in the area. We are seasoned Sfizi patrons who love so many favorite dishes that it’s hard to say just one. This unique Cafe exposes a wine cellar full of Italian wine and that makes you feel like you in Italy. Just ask the owner or staff about a perfect pairing for your meal and you wont be disappointed. We have enjoyed both in café dining and take out. They have curb-side pickup which has been very helpful these past few months. Many times, we order meals that can be refrigerated or frozen, and the meals are equally great the second time around!Thank you to Sfizi’s owner, Lino, and his dedicated, hard-working staff for their resilience and perseverance during the pandemic. A meal from Sfizi has warmed our hearts and stomachs.
This evening, for the first time, I went to Sfizi to pick up food. 25 minutes later, once I got home I realized that I left my desserts. For my joy, Dato delivered them to me. Thank you very much again Dato. You made my evening. I am definitely planning to come back soon.Great service, food and employees.
Have been to Sfizi many times. Local gem in Falls Church with unbelievable food and awesome service. Fantastic Italian wine selection. Enjoy!
Their seafood linguine with red sauce is spot on. My vegetarian friends love the pasta trio plate. The bread and salad served with each meal are just alright. Service can be a little mediocre, but they are nice enough. Wine selections are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is lovely. Definitely a neighborhood favorite.
Best Italian in Falls Church. Love the grilled calamari. They do the traditional 7 fish Italian dinner. Pasta is always cooked perfectly. Very reasonably wine prices, they sell wine (and other Italian food products) at retail prices and then charge a $10 corking fee if you open it on premises. This works out much cheaper than the 300% markup most other restaurants charge
I love this place for many reasons. Its authentic. The food is excellent. The staff is helpful and friendly. They have great wines and desserts that you can buy and take with you (its also an Italian market). I stay at a hotel right next door and visit Sfizi every time I come to town.
Seemingly popular with locals, but I did not enjoy our food. The cured olive oil served with bread tasted rancid. The pork saltimbocca was swimming in oil and covered with cheese. I found it a place not proud of the the ingredients it sources. Service was nice but off.
The dining service was very good, the food was excellent, the dry goods they offer were a bit underwhelming (no amaretto cookies?!?) for Italian imports. A word to the wise, the service and dining experience was more formal than we expected from the exterior, and though they were good natured about our child and they had a child menu, I think it may be rare for younger families with kids to dine there; most patrons appeared to be older middle aged with no kids.
We go to Sfizi a lot. Why? Great service. A great wine list along with the fact that you can pick out and purchase a bottle of wine there (they are also a wine shop). And the food is so consistently good that when you cant think of another place that evening it is a SURE bet. Oh, and if you like pizza their pizza is fabulous (and Im not a big pizza guy - but I like Sfizi pizza). You have to visit Sfizi BUT if its a Friday, Sat. or in the evening make reservation especially if your party is more than 2 people.
This is a great place. The workers are the best. If you can check it out. Tks from 2 bus drivers from Illinois.
Ive just discovered this place and from now on it is my favorite place around this area. Sfizi is a place where you can get extraordinary feelings based on amazing Italian dishes and great service by Sfizi family. Even the owner goes around the tables and takes orders which definitely means special treat to Sfizi costumers. So,Sfizi is highly recommended for everyone.
Great authentic Italian restaurant. Awesome patio for happy hour as well!
Bright, pleasant and agreeable for lunch or dinner. Cloth napkins would be a plus. The paper ones provided dont go very far.
I’ve been there twice; a first and a last time. Without a doubt the worst Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to. (I would have rated this 0 out of 5 stars, but I was forced to give at least a star, hence the 1 out of 5).
Beautiful place and amazing food! (If they tell you that something has the buffalo cheese, just get it - YUM!) We had a wonderful anniversary dinner here and hope to be back soon!
Good restaurant
The food was fresh and every morsel tasted delicious. This cafe stays true to its Italian heritage, serving its food with Italian ingredients and mamas original recipes. You will not be disappointed with the food. The prices are reasonable, so dining at Sfizi Cafe is a great value. Theyve got great Italian wine and the best desserts too!
Sfizi Cafe is a great opportunity for everyone who likes to enjoy with Great Atmosphere! Great Food!(Wine,Coffee, Dessert)And Great service!
Grilled calamari was cooked to perfection, seafood spaghetti was really fresh and tasty, you can tell its homemade. Love it!
As close as youre going to get to homemade Italian food. My wife and I dine here once a month and have yet to have a less-than-perfect experience. One word of caution - this is not a in-and-out place. The meals are prepared when you order, so plan on relaxing with a bottle of wine while you wait for your meal.
Lovely Italian owner, he was very passionate about wine and pasta. The food is good quality and overall a great experience. Love the bread you can dip into the olive oil and vinegar.
Pork was a little bland but wines affordable. Eggplant appetizer was pretty cheesy and good. Enjoyed the side of pasta. Betty creme brulee didnt have the crackle crust I was hoping for.
Awesome dinner spot in Falls Church! The food never disappoints, great wine selection at reasonable prices, and the service is fantastic!
Ambience. Amazing food. Articulate wait staff. Mmmm
Great food great wine selection great place. Owners are fabulous.
The food was way overpriced. Most pasta plates were between $15-$20. When we asked the owner about the wine selection, he was extremely rude and told us to make up our mind quicker then left while we were looking over the list. The server was nice but one of the food runners tried to take away our wine glasses when the bottle was still half full...
Been here several times. Great local spot for Italian staples. Everything has been very good. Service is inconsistent, though. Sometimes very good. Other times not so much. Never downright bad, though. Will continue to come back.
I will not return to this restaurant again after speaking to the manager both times I have visited. Last night I waited 1.5 hours to receive my food after I placed the order when the restaurant was not crowded. The first visit, I waited more than one hour, I dont recall how long but it was significant. The manager told me to expect to wait on hour on the food, and if I didnt like it, to basically go elsewhere. My food wasnt worth the wait and with that attitude from the manager in combination with having to ask multiple times for water or reminders when other items were requested for the waiter, I can not recommend this restaurant. The attitude and service unfortunately overrides the convenient location for me.
We are regulars at this restaurant and typically love it but had a terrible experience for our New Years Eve dinner with friends. Several people were missing salads, we didnt get the bread until well into the meal (they claimed it had just come out of the oven but it was stale and cold), and several peoples meals were totally cold or partially cold. Very disappointing experience all around.
If you want fresh, have their homemade pasta. In the deli, you can buy their pasta, sauce, sweets, wine and more! Eat and shop. Friendly service too!
5 stars! Nice, fancy little restaurant without the price tag. The spaghetti was by far the best Ive ever tasted. I also loved their cute glasses. Very romantic place as well. And let me say, the customer service here was SUPERB.The waiter had an authentic Italian accent; my glass was never empty, and he always made sure I had everything. I was so satisfied with his service, I tipped him 30%, which I never do.I ate here after having a horrible experience at the post office upstairs, so Sfizis excellent customer service saved my night. It was a delicious, quiet dinner, and I will definitely be coming back (when Im not driving, of course) to try out the wine bar they had at one end of the restaurant.
I attended Sfizi with a party of seven during lunch. We were promptly seated, and had great service. All of us ordered sandwiches, which are in the 8 or 9 dollar range, but are very large portions with fresh ingredients. Totally worth it, great place for a lunch!
Great pizza. Good food. Big wine selection. Tables small unless you get the high table.
Went here for dinner after my mom recommended it. We’re italian, have eaten in Italy, and cook Italian at home. The food was INCREDIBLE. We had the eggplant Rollatini, and a ravioli special. Portions were good and the staff was very friendly. Left feeling satisfied and happy
Dynamite and authentic Italian food. They have a nice selection of Italian wines that you can pick from and bring to your table. The location can get filled so its recommended you call ahead during peak dining times.
Been going for years. Always takes care of my family. Excellent service. Authentic. Great wines. Owner and staff are responsive and incredibly friendly. Tough to make a family of 6 happy but they pull it off. Dont think twice and go. Ask to meet the owner and you will be going often. Dont be shy. Just tell them what you want!
From start to finish this was a great restaurant. Service is wonderful, food was well prepared, hot and very good. Definitely a do it again for our family.
The gourmet Italian restaurant of the area. This family restaurant provides excellent service and excellent food. The wine selection is fantastic. And save space for dessert.
Fantastic Italian cuisine. Wine store provides top shelf selection at very reasonable prices.
Great food and service...worth the price!
A wonderful venue, well set-up, very professional staff and great owner. The food is exceptional and they have a wonderful selection of wines.
Very comfortable atmoshphere, great service (personal) and exceptional, authentic Italian food. All my senses experienced Italy from my vision to tastes buds. The little Italian market within is a special treat too. Eat here. Its a real treat!
Second time visiting. Great wine selection. Very good food. The owner is always stopping by for a chat. Gives a friendly, local feeling to the place.
Best wines and prices in our area. Will prepare any dish your way! Excellent on every level. Owner very knowledgeable of wines
I went to Sfizi for the first time recently. Both the food and the service were excellent. My whole group had different things (the eggplant, the lasagna, and the orecchiette) all were great. Nothing was overly done, it all tasted simple but delicious. I will the say the highlight was the tiramisu (pictured). I usually am not there biggest tiramisu fan but this was amazing, very espresso rating which I enjoyed. I definitely plan on going back soon!
All Italian wines, nice simple dishes and great location in Falls Church City. Try the Lobster Ravioli if you get a chance!
Our favorite for Italian. Great wine options and you can buy a retail bottle of wine to drink with dinner. Good selection of specials.
I have gone to Sfizi a number of times this summer, and it is wonderful. The food is delicious, the specials change all the time, the wines are interesting and very good, many of them from Italy, and the atmosphere is lovely. I am always very happy when I can go there, and I often take friends and colleagues there..
Excellent food, service and atmosphere, and friendly.
Great food and great service!
Good southern Italian food, nice wine selection.
Excellent food. Fun atmosphere.
Great eggplant parmesan sandwich. Eggplant was baked, not fried. Gracious service.
