Nice hardware store and friendly staff that would help you, if needed. My go to place when I dont want to go to a big box store. Plus if you need stuff loaded into a vehicle, theyll do that too. 10/2021

My go-to hardware store because prices are decent and staff is very helpful. Sometimes it’s a downside though if you’re just grabbing something quick...at least 3-4 people will ask if you need anything in the span of 5 minutes and they are a little too persistent sometimes!

Came in very confused about getting some screws for a TV stand and Tim went above and beyond to try and figure out what I needed, it was clear he has a lot of experience, will definitely be back.

My Home and nearby daughters homes are old. They need something fixed every weekend. I come to this store often: not always sure of what I need but somehow I always get the right item and usually enjoy a quick laugh with somebody before leaving. It is because of you that I am able to take on projects and repairs that are far above my home maintenance guy level. My real job enables me to quickly recognize people that are all in, possess solid product knowledge and a willingness to provide great customer service. It is my experience that every employee of this store has these qualities and that is why I dont go anywhere else. Keep up the good work!

This is a small hardware store and, YOU should expect to be in a small hardware store!The good: The store is above average when it comes to customer assistance (its always there but not too pushy) and especially KNOWLEDGE. If you are not a professional and you just need something for your house, this is the place to go. With simple questions they will point you to exactly what you need. They know everything about everything! I would say, remarkable!The bad: If you are a professional and you want to get the best price around ... you are not in your right mind! As I said, this is a small store and cannot beat Home Depot.In general: the store looks very organized and much cleaner than the other hardware stores in a 2-3 miles radius. And, I can be in and out in less than 5 minutes with exactly what I want.I feel good going to this store and I am willing to pay a dollar extra for this!

This was my go to as the employees are very nice. However I met the owner today and and talk about the person you don’t want to deal with! There were two people and him standing outside and no Indicators that they was a line . He’s said to get to the back of the line. I apologized say that I didn’t realize there was a line since there were no markings or anything. So he began yelling and swearing at me that he doesn’t need my f’ing business and to leave. Do I did. I feel sorry for the people who are so nice but have to work for this man.

Was told unless I was spending alot of money, the employee did not have time to help me. Really? And, he kept calling me sweetie. I found that offensive. Probably will go somewhere else for my upcoming handyman project list. I had alot on my list but left with only a few items.

Great local store. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable for my kitchen project. Compared to other local hardware stores like ACE this place keeps it well organized and CLEAN!!. So easy to find what Im looking for and a much better choice when trying to find unique stuff compared to a Home Depot or Lowes.

Somehow the staff manages to pack in an extraordinary amount of product selection in a, relatively, small building.Not that the store is small, not really, just compared to the big box stores, it is a bit diminutive. Yet instead of taking away from the experience, their size, coupled with their experience and knowledge, just adds to it.Seriously folks, this neighborhood True Value is the best around!

I really like this store. The staff is very helpful. But the reasoning for my 2 stars is. They are much more expensive the Home Depot and they are NOT willing to price match. It’s hard to spend $13 on a part that Hd sells for 7 and they are only a mile further.

Great location. Great service. Great selection, good prices. Supporting local businesses like this is very important. Depending on the item i know it may be a tad cheaper at home Depot but I save more going here in gas and most importantly my time.

This place is an excellent hardware store hands down.... I paid a touch more BUT I was in and out and they had the odd stuff I needed that even plumbers wholesale, home depot, and menards didnt even have and not dealing with those stores makes it all worth that tiny extra cost... (all three box stores told me they dont make it but I know better they had it right on the shelf)

The staff here really welcome you to the store and they definitely offer help in a non intrusive way. The manager is a friendly person also and seems to have a good rapport with customers. Great place to get tools, hardware, cleaning supplies you name it.

Went there and there was a shelf marked $6.99. Get to the register and the plants that were DIRECTLY underneath that sign are $14. Apparently that large sign was for only ONE plant on that entire shelf and the rest were unmarked. Lady was snotty when we were confused why our bill was double.

Very nice people. Smiling and greeting their customers. I was able to find a part for my garden faucet which I have been trying to find since last 2 days including home depot and 4 different commercial and industrial plumbing supplies stores but couldnt find it there. As soon as I got inside this true value store, one of the staff member helped me get it within 1 minute. Very reasonable price and wonderful experience. Will definitely drive few extra miles to get related things in future without bothering to go to home depot. 2 thumbs up!

Great old school hardware store. The owner Tim is there nearly every day and knows you by name. Prices are comparable to the big box stores. Well stocked with quality merchandise, much of which is American made.

One of the reasons I go to Home Depot is if I need to return something we had our receipt with us the package was open Tim who the gentleman said his name was, refused to return the item even though all pieces were there and did I say receipt too! Told us we had to go to store we purchased from as they are independently owned and even though we wanted to buy the other one really driving to the 5 mile store Customer service where I hope you go out of business. You deserve the disrespect!

Very strong customer service.

We have visited this store about 3-4 times and while the staff aren’t particularly friendly or warm like in other stores, we always did get what we wanted and so we had no issues. That was until the visit my husband made today.We needed a screw and in order to ensure that we got the right one, we took a sample screw with us. When my husband asked one of the staff for the kind of screw we needed, he showed us one that was tiny and in order to show him what we needed my husband placed the screw we carried along with us on the table. For some weird unexplainable reason the staff took the screw we had brought along and put it into his box of screws and insisted that we brought along the smaller one he had shown us. We ended up having to buy the screw we took along and 1 additional to meet our needs.The screws were only $0.30 a piece, so my rant here is not about the cost, it’s about being cheated. When my husband tried to point out that he had taken back the wrong screw the man started to get rude!!!! Seriously, is your business so bad that you got to cheat customers for $0.30????Would not return and definitely will not recommend this store either.

I like the large size of this hardware store, as it allows for a wider selection and wider variety of products. Customer service is excellent; I was greeted upon walking into the store and was even asked if I needed any help. The place does look a little dreary, though--particularly the floors--as they looked a cheaply put together.

I received an ad for BOGO free potting soil from True Value. I went to Alexander True Value and they would not honor their own ad . Lucky for me Great Lakes Ace has just opened up less than one mile away. I proceeded to purchase my potting soil and another 100 additional dollars in lawn fertilizer from them.

Ive been a regular customer at Alexander True Value since it opened 5 or so years ago (2014?). So great to have a local hardware store that is more compact and negotiable than the big box stores like Home Depot. Lots and lots of good old hardware stock and owner, Tim stocks many items that particularly cater to his customers. Nice store layout, always well stocked and very clean and neat. The bolt aisle is to die for - drawers and drawers of selection. I almost always find what Im looking for. Owner, Tim Alexander, has local roots too - North Farmington High School grad and a lifetime of experience in the hardware business. Really knows his stuff as does his staff - knowledgeable and helpful. Great location at 9 mile and Farmington Roads - very accessible, plentiful parking, easy in and out and lots of other good stores in that center. Adjoining neighbor stores are an Ollies and a great Dollar store. Ive been able to cut my trips to Home Depot where pricing is a draw but the value of True Value is convenience, excellent inventory, variety of merchandise and excellent service. I also shop True Value online to find products and (sometimes better pricing) vs. the store. Choose free delivery to the store to pick it up when notified its ready - usually within a few days. I highly recommend this store.

HAD a very bad experience here the other day I came in with my fishing reel trying to find a new nut to keep the handle on it so I asked for help and this guy couldnt find it and he was getting frustrated and then angry at me because they didnt have the right part and then didnt even apologize to me about this situation so I just left the store went to ace and bought something that will work for now congratulations you just lost my business Ill never be returning to this store EVER if anyone wants to contact me about this Ill be happy to talk thanks-nick
