Ive had positive experiences here in the past so I was surprised by the total lack of service I received yesterday. I plan to go anywhere but Academy in the future. I needed a new pair of Ray Bans, waited patiently at the counter, and was only acknowledged by a yelled out request for someone to go to the sunglasses counter. The worker behind the counter never made eye contact, nor did anyone else, so for at least five minutes I was totally ignored. The only smile I got was from the door greeter as I left; he was probably amused by my apparent invisibility. I literally sat in the Academy parking lot and ordered a pair of Ray Bans from the Ray Ban site. If Im going to wait, at least it will be for someone who will acknowledge me--even if its online. Im incredibly disappointed.

Today I went into Academy Sports in Florence, Al to purchase a few items for my daughter. This is the second time Ive went to the customer service counter to ask a question, as the few check out lines were packed. The female cashier did not greet me, didnt smile or anything. She was not friendly at all!! Almost seemed annoyed that I interrupted a conversation she was having with her coworker.On a positive note, upon entrance into the store, i was greeted with a smile as well as when I exited the store. The store was very clean and I found exactly what I needed.

Quick trip to pick up a new Kayak, didnt have any selection! Forced to another store! Did pick up some lures...Years of loyalty to Academy is diminishing, sad

Very nice store. Clean and well maintained. Well stocked and a very nice shoe section.

While obviously still not fully stocked with items they do have a good selection. A lot of empty shelf space but that is common in this day and time. They also can advertise stuff they do not have in stock. For example went into buy a pair of Asics tennis shoes that was on sale for $49 they had none in the store and none in the warehouse. This weeks ad has that same pair on sale for $39????If it wasnt for that I would have given him 5 stars as liked the store.

Went to buy a specific type of Nike shorts for cheer. They had plenty to choose from but kids sizes were mixed in with adult sizes, so my daughter had to try on multiple pairs to find the correct size she needed because the kids size tags looked identical to the adult ones.

Love this store! Stores always very clean n organized! The employees seem very nice and helpful! Will return there soon

I love this place! I like their own branded clothing and other merch that is very affordable and not generic. Prices for name brand stuff is usually pretty high but they do have a large variety and anything you could need related to sports and outdoors. Minus one star for associate that checked me out this time. She obviously wanted to talk to the people behind me so she was rushing me and then hit cancel when I was about to click yes to send my receipt to my email that was already on the screen from past purchases. It irked me enough when I was starting to say but I wanted a digital receipt, she cut me off and said heres your receipt. handed me the paper receipt and said thank you (at least she was pretending to be nice while she was hurrying me out of the way & not listening lol ).

Little inventory in mens shoes. Saw 2 people working in shoes...the never spoke or offered help when I asked. Found my shoes up high, good thing Im tall.Sporting goods guy answered questions and was friendly.

The store was nice and clean with a great selection of items! I just wished they had their shoes in order by size and all marked with the correct size on the hangars!

They have a wide variety of athletic apparel and just about anything an outdoor person could want. Great fishing and hunting gear although right now they are bare on ammo and guns. The employees are always helpful and kind.

Good selection of sports equipment. I will not be going back the staff is so rude. I ask to try on some Brooks sneakers and the girl acted like it was going to kill her to see if they had my size. They are a little pricey.

The associate in the shoe department was very helpful and took me exactly to what I was looking for. All the associates had very positive attitudes.

My 2 kids and I were in the store getting some ball items. My son was wanting a new glove and he found what he wanted but we were right at 5 minutes past closing. The salesperson was so rude and was pushing us to leave, I said we are trying to find a 11.5 size glove on the rack and we are leaving he told me again that it was 9:05 and they were closed. I said the heck with the glove and saw a manager he was no help either so I put everything back and said I wouldnt buy anything else from them.

Bought two pears of Sketchers at a price equal to Amazon.

I really like to try to shop in store or online at academy for sporting goods, shoes, athletic wear, & etc. Before choosing to shop around at another sporting goods store bc they usually end up being a little to alot cheaper than the other stores.

It was hard to find someone to help and they didnt have what was on sale paper

I bought a brand new bike from here and it had a hole in the back tire the day after I bought it. So I bought a new tube for it thinking that maybe it would be a good bike just a bad tube. But no there was a set of ball bearings missing on the wheel and the bolt going through the middle bent! And since It did that it messed up the chain tensioner somehow. I called academy about it and some irritable lady answers. Didn’t help me at all about the bike told me there was nothing she could do. I am very disappointed in my purchase. And Academy sports and outdoors. I would not recommend buying a bike there!

Purchased a rod there cost was 44.99 kept one week decided to return it and get a different rod. It was in perfect condition still had tags on it including the academy price tag. The manager Summer informed me that because I did not have the receipt and paid cash for the rod the best that Academy could do was give 18.99 credit for the rod. When I asked why they told me at some point at some academy somewhere in the country one was sold for 18.99. This is crazy and a license to steal if you ask me. I have spent thousands in Academy over the years. How is this fair to the customer. I am glad I found out because I was saving up for a Panoptix system will spend that money elsewhere.

Very nice store, was there for the golf equipment and was happy to find a nice selection of clubs and practice equipment. The staff could stand to be trained on acting like they enjoy having a job though. I would frequent the store however.

Academy is a great sports store that offers everything you could want for sporting activities. As for outdoors supplies it offers a decent selection with okay prices. Its definitely a great selection of outdoors equipment for the area.
