I had a radio and 4 speakers installed on my boat along with a second battery and a battery switch. The work was done on time and in a professional manner. I felt the quality of the installation was excellent, the power cables were fused, the cables were connected and run neatly, and the holes for the speakers were cut properly and everything looks great. Everything was reviewed with me when I went to pick up the boat to make sure I understood how to operate everything, especially the battery switch. I am very satisfied with the quality of the installation and the service and I would highly recommend this shop for all your audio needs!.

They are super rude when you go to shop there!! Then when they do and installation dont count on them being on time even if you take a day off for it.. also they will leave you boat trashed!! Metal shavings everywhere screws on seats and yes I have a ton of pics... I would definitely look elsewhere..

Daniel provided excellent support and guidance while installing an audio system in my 2015 Dodge Ram. In the fall of 2020 audio Smith resolved a battery drain and car remote issue that four other shops failed to diagnose and resolve. I rate their level expertise on automotive electrical as Superior.I recently brought in my 21-year-old RV to upgrade the sound system from factory OEM. Audiosmith worked with me to define a system and install it. When we felt it wasnt quite right they worked with us to upgrade the receiver and subwoofer and now the system rocks! I couldnt ask for more they are a great shop to work with.

Was having an issue with my Sirius XM radio that Best Buy had just installed. I was so fed up with them I decided to call audio smith. Dan got me in right away and fixed the problem in just a few minutes. Will be coming back next month to get a sub woofer installed!

I have had two remote start systems installed for my vehicles by Audiosmith. I have been extremely pleased with their installation and they communicate well about your scheduled appointment times, etc. If you are planning on getting a remote start, I highly recommend taking your vehicle to Audiosmith. Programming a remote start can be tricky, and their labor rate is very reasonable.

Installed new head unit a few remotes reworked some previous wiring and tackled a buzzing sound coming from one of speakers only when the engine was running. Took the time to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction and actually came in under the estimate! Great to work with if you are in need of some speaker work.

I called to get pricing on an amp install. I had the amp. Just wire it in. They said “around $100” over the phone. I agreed to the price. I came in and confirmed price before they started the work. They said $260 when I got there. We agreed to a price somewhere in between after a heated exchange. I left the car there for the install. I received a call later saying my amp doesn’t work and I should come in and look at their amps for sale. I tested my amp in my other car right before I gave it to them. It for sure worked when I gave it to them. These are the facts. You make the call.

Man these cars ruined my ski boat trying to put wires under the dash cracked the fiberglass, then used cheap stick-em to hold the wires fell first ride out . And hooked up my amp wrong . what a bunch of hacks .Do not take your nice boat there, customer beware !

These guys are great and they do beautiful work! They installed my speakers in the saddlebags of my bike and everything looks great - excellent attention to detail! I also had them install a remote start in my truck and when I dropped it off the remote/door locks did not work. Ray Chevy estimated $1000 for the repair, when I picked up the truck Bill had made the locks work!! Great family business, highly recommend them!

Got a remote start. While the install was great and right on time, not really thrilled with the product. Its supposed to start up to 1000 feet away. Its about 10. Went back for a new Fob....still works the same.

Bill provided great service at a great price. Bill constructed two custom speaker boxes for the installation of two 6x9 Hertz speakers for the rear floor of my 1967 Camaro. In addition Bill installed an Alpine 400 watt amp under the front passenger seat. He also rewired the front 4x6 Hertz speakers. The guys at Audiosmith were awesome! I had my automatic car starter installed a few years ago and it started acting up. They told me to bring it in anytime and they would take a look. These guys are the best in the business. Ive been going to Audio Smith for years. I remember their old shop in Libertyville its got to be 25+ years ago.

All went well with the install of the remote start. I showed up on time and they got to work right away. A few days later and everything works as it should. The only problem was when they were done installing and the guy came into the waiting room. He seemed more concerned about me paying right away, than explaining the functions of the starter. When I realized that he was not going to offer any info, I began to ask a few questions. He seemed really annoyed that I was asking and kept giving me a are you a moron look. Maybe he was just having a bad day or just didnt like the way I look. I left with a not so great feeling about the whole transaction. I was going to ask about some headrest dvd players for my wifes minivan, but decided not to after I could tell he didnt want to answer any questions. Might or might not return for future work.

I had gone to 3 other local shops and these guys were by far the most professional of the shops I visited. I had purchased a 98 Corvette as a weekend cruiser and the aftermarket stereo it came with was all out of sorts. My pop up headlights were also non functioning. Daniel explained everything, provided recommendations and kept in touch throughout the process. He replaced what was necessary and fixed what could be salvaged. Extremely professional and reasonably priced. Very happy with the work and would not hesitate to recommend these guys for anything electronic.

Bill, owner, and son, Dan, run a clean shop with excellent product knowledge.I researched and found the best hardware before visiting their business. They use the Data-Link computer, which I found to be the best.No expensive upselling, no doubletalk, just well informed answers on a basic installation.A fine shop, trustworthy, family run. I highly recommend them.

Had sub box and amp install. Didn’t secure amp down and left power and ground cords short and ground came out. Put back myself. Didn’t seem too friendly. Had to walk in garage to get help from someone.

I had a very bad experience with a high-end stereo system being installed in my car. And struggled with it for over a year . Then I hear about Audio Smith ( Fox Lake ) and brought my car to them to fix it. They fixed all my problems with no hinden cost in a very timely manner. I am very particular with sound quality and craftsmanship and they exceeded my expectations.

I came to Audiosmith with the hope to replace my stock subwoofer and casette player (replaced with Bluetooth) that came with my ‘99 Lexus LS400. The biggest thing I wanted with the project was to leave as much of the stock system and wiring in as possible in case I wanted to go and sell the car so I could then keep the sub and Bluetooth adapter for a different vehicle. I brought my situation to Dan Lytle and he sat there and walked me through step by step what he would be doing. I was not an easy customer because I was very particular with what I wanted. Dan was more than happy to oblige all of my requests. I am more than happy with the results of the project and have a nice base system in place. I look forward to going even further with the project in the future.Review #2 (June 21, 2019)The project in the future happened (mentioned in the above paragraph). We went with 2 12 700W from Memphis Audio and they absolutely kick. This time we installed a bass knob and the whole shebang. I used to have a playlist named Deep Bass because of how all those specific songs acted with the previous single 12 woofer. Now I can just merge them in with my normal playlist because every single song acts the way I want it to. There is no better feeling than using subs that can bring down a building.

Pros: This is a family-owned type business, very friendly, very resourceful, very knowledgeable about their products as well as other ones in comparison. I walked in there knowing what I wanted to do, but also had a lot of questions and concerns due to my car being a push button start, tiny 2 seater hybrid. I was actually nervous to go in here without a friend of mine coming with because I had no trust and it was a smaller business that I had never been to before. But alas, this is NOT how I felt when I went into Audiosmith in Fox Lake though!! The son of the owner, Dan, walked me through everything and was very clear with the information in which he gave me and the owner, Bill, was who was working the day I had the actual appt did the work himself. Bill took the time when I picked my car up to go through everything in great detail as he was showing me how to use everything that I had installed. We even spoke when I picked it up about what they could do to tweak the exterior lights for me. I got my windows tinted, some audio equipment and a Drone electronic start installed.I wanted to do this since I bought the car a year before this, but I was always afraid because of it being a hybrid with two batteries and the impact that these items may have on one of those batteries, or possibly both. Not only were they able to reassure me because they knew the correct information and knowledge to begin with about my car mechanics and their product, but I left feeling comfortable with my purchase, install, and how to use it all, but I left with something more valuable: trust in a business that deals with cars! Their prices were reasonable, the time it took to install was reasonable, and I have never had any issues with the equipment that was installed and Im very happy that I had it done. For anyone that goes to a place like Best Buy these days because you do not know of or trust the smaller companies, please go in and talk to these fellas because I believe they would make anyone walking through their door feel comfortable with what they went in there to purchase.Cons: although I would not say it was something that greatly displeased me by any stretch, when we had spoke and decided about the percentage of the tint, it was supposed to be a darker shade. I received a phone call verifying what percent for the tint after I had dropped it off for all of the work to be done in one appointment, and it was then that they informed me that the only tint they had in stock was not as dark as I had wanted it. This was disappointing because I had timed this perfectly with going out of town, not having a car for half a day, and with their holiday season being busy with installing electronic start kits I had waited a couple weeks for this appointment. I was asked if I would like to install the darker tint still and if so I would have to wait another day. Due to my busy schedule and my sons busy sports schedule after work, I was very crunch with what time I had available and this is why I scheduled everything in one day. I wish that I would not have said yes and just come back another day even if it would have to wait a month. It is a small car with a lot of windows, so the darker shade would have been much better with all the sunlight that is able to enter through the Windows, or even snow glare. Where I do believe that they should have had the proper tint there since this appointment has been scheduled for a while, I did agree to just settle for the lighter shade they had available. I have thought about going back in and talking to them about it, but I did agree to it in the end, so I dont feel that it is all on them. I would still go back to them to have another vehicle tinted, and have recommended them to several people since because it was nicely done nevertheless!Thanks to Bill and Dan! I will continue to recommend Audiosmith in Fox Lake. 😄🚘 So if you are sitting in a Best Buy type parking lot, leave and call these guys. I got the work done in November 2017 and its all still working great FYI!

Bill & his son Daniel are awesome. I did some business with Bill in early 2001 back when he ran the Mecca show @ union grove. I bought some hi comics stuff for my Monte Carlo. Recently 12/2017 I bought a 2 door jeep wrangler with a stock stereo. It sounded pretty bad. I did some quick research & was pleasantly surprised to find Audismith still in business. I went in & spoke to Daniel. He sold me JL 6.25 component speakers for the front & 2, 6.25 coaxial JL speakers for the rear and rd400 amp to power them. Picked up my jeep same day & was pretty happy a lot louder but needed more bass. Went back in a couple weeks later & talked to Daniel, he suggested the sony head unit & the Jl powered 400amp all in 1, 10 JL sub. I went back when I had the money in a few weeks & Daniel installed the sub & head unit. When I went to pick it up 12/9/17 I was impressed this has to be the cleanest & most powerful systems Ive ever owned. 1 ten inch sub hits harder then, 2 fifteen inch hifonic subs did in my Monte. My hat off to Bill for still being in business & Daniel for being beyond competitive with the pricing in the equipment & skill on the install. Im so happy I didnt waste the money on the alpine jeep unit. My system is 10 time clearer & louder. Thanks guys.
