Salesman offered over 30% less than what we were able to sell the boat for at another marina which was the going price for the boat in its condition. Professional survey was done prior to sale. Work done prior to sale, professional detail.
We have owned many boats over many years and have docked at numerous marinas. For the last 5 years we have been at Al Grover’s in Freeport. We are having the absolute BEST experience here! The staff is amazing, the people are fantastic and we love our summer home away from home! From spring launch day until the very sad November day when the boat is put to bed for the winter we have had nothing but positive experiences. Dante and Josephine run a tight ship. Their staff especially Paul and Danny are the best in the business. Anthony is a master with electronics and tech support. I cannot say enough about this family business and the services they provide. All of the maintenance and upkeep is top notch. We have made wonderful friends on our dock. The marina has undergone many improvements over the last few years to enhance our social gatherings. We enjoy our summers hanging out with the best of friends in a warm and friendly place.
I used Al Grovers marina to winter store and service by 45 foot Viking this year. The service was great. Timely, professional and well executed.Expert technicians for fiberglass, mechanics and yard workers. They all provided honest recommendations and fair prices for necessary repairs. I have recommended Grovers to my boating friends.
I have to be honest at 1st I did not like this place that much and I blamed them for a work order that was written up incorrectly last year. The work order was written up by my purchasing dealership some one else. I have been dealing with Paul & Terry. Terry is beyond professional and goes out of his way to answer all my questions. The receptionist at the front desk is more like a Technician, ( she knows her stuff ) she also made sure my work order was 100% correct. I have not spoken to Paul that much and I consider that a good thing because the front line at this place is awesome. People we have to understand theres a few of them at Al Grovers and theres hundred of us customers, so communication is a key here so both parties can be happy. Is Al Grover the best place for repairs? the answer is yes, I come from the Tappan Zee bridge 3 hrs away
Chris Bellinzoni, a top shelf expert ! When we first visited the Marina i was greeted as if i was family. We looked at a used boat and was not pressured at all. Chris knowledge of the boat was very supportive to my needs. An easy fit like a glove relationship. The Marina is an extremely well oiled machine and everything in its place. No need to look any further .... You can tell this place has a solid history and neighborhood relationship.
25 years ago my, when I moved onto the water, I asked my neighbor what marina services his boat. He said Grovers Hi and Dry and he said to speak to the owner about any of my concerns from maintenance to service. Well 25 years later, that was the best advise my neighbor gave me. From the excellent mechanical service, winter storage, and dockage, not to mention the friends my wife and I have made, Grovers Hi and Dry is our boating home. From the team of Paul, Dan, Anthony ( the King of Electronics) to Marc in the Sales Dept., any new boater would be happy to become a member of the marina. Looking forward to another season!
I have been boating all my life and this organization Al Grover’s Marina is absolutely second to none. My son and I were boat shopping for a 21/22 foot newer center console for months with nothing that struck our interest. Lucky enough we ran across a boat that Al Grover’s had listed and from South Jersey we head to Freeport New York. From the moment we walked in their door meeting Bridget and the crew in the sales office I knew we were in the right place. We were treated like we were buying a million dollar boat. The entire process was painless, from our offer to when we picked up the boat. All these people in this organization were friendly and helped like we were family. Speaking of family this is a family run business and we met Mr. and Mrs. Grover and Bridget’s sister who are all family, and again are very friendly and very accommodating. It’s not often I write a review, but this was needed for this company. If you are looking for a boat, service or a place to keep your boat this is it. I will definitely send these people business in the future. Thank you Grover crew!!!!Jim Rechenberg
Extremely helpful and kind staff. Took amazing care of my boat with reasonable pricing!
Cant wait yo hike prices less and less service .Probably look for another place soon
Quiet chill spot. Drive up and sit in your car or bring chairs and sit close to the water. People are often here fishing
We found a used Boston Whaler at Grovers Marina. John at the sales office was terrific to work with and we negotiated a price that made the boat ours. Our sea trial was handled with professionalism and we were given the chance to be 100% comfortable with the vessel before completing our purchase. Grovers completed a service and shrink wrap for us and we picked it up the following weekend. Everyone we worked with at Grovers was friendly and did a great job. The fact they are a family owned business shined through in everything they did. We even had a chance to meet the owner Dante. We purchased a quality boat and had a fantastic experience doing so!
Dont walk away from Strongs at Al Grovers, RUN LIKE YOUR HAIR IS ON FIRE. Purchased a 2017 Cobia 344 for 206,000.00 boat, took a loan, insured the boat, send 60k bank check overnight UPS, send photo of check and tracking to salesman. Check arrived the following day due to a ups covid pick up delay (1 day late however photos of the check as well as tracking were sent to Marc Landau the salesman from Al Grovers Marine.). This place is as slimy as they get. DO NOT waste your time or money thinking you are buying a boat from these guys. They literally keep it listed and RESOLD THE SAME BOAT TO ANOTHER FAMILY AFTER WE BOUGHT IT, INSURED IT and paid for a slip. Absolutely the worst business experience of my life.
Awesome staff
I recently purchased a used Mako from Al Grocers. Chris was my salesman. I felt I purchased this boat for a great price. The boat was clean and in working order. Chris was very accommodating at every step of the transaction and did business with a genuine handshake. I would highly recommend doing business with Al Grocers high & Dry Marina.
My father purchased a boat from Al gRovers for 206,000.00. We insured the boat, took a 150,000 loan, bought a slip, overnighted a bank check for 60k ups and they sold the boat to another family a week after ghosting us. DIRT BAGS.
I have had a boat for many, many years. It is often difficult to find a marina that really works with you on your own time schedule. They are professional, courteous and friendly. Sure, you might play a bit more, but it is worth it! They are fair. They deliver!
I brought my Sea Ray Sundancer to Grovers High & Dry to be repowered. They did an amazing job. The boat was returned clean and ran perfectly with absolutely no issues whatsoever. I highly recommend them as a full service marina.
I use this Maria for storage of my boat. The high and dry experience is A++
Well if u like boating u got some of the most knowledgeable pro s in the business...get your job done right..go therr
Very Poor response time and highly unprofessional in how they handle situations. They sell vessels without the knowledge of the mechanical and operational issues. Once you ask about them they will avoid you and choose to no longer do business. This allows them sell a broke down vessel to someone without the knowledge to ask. We had an agreed price as the boat was in good operational, mechanical, and electrical condition. The next day the Saleman went out to gather more pics and informs me the gauges do not work. After telling me it all worked well. So I gave another offer and they have now denied my business. They say they give the knowledge of the vessel in good faith but if you ask them about it they say it works well or then they are not sure. The owner was suppose to call me back and never did as well. Beware what you buy. They will sell you something that doesnt not work properly and they will not give you all information.
I bought my first boat here last fall. All I can say was that it was a positive experience. I grew up with sailing and boating experience. My dad had a 24 foot cruiser and I took sailing lessons. Buying a boat is still tough. I did my research and relied heavily on the marine surveyor. I stayed with him throughout the survey asking questions and taking notes. I looked at other similar boats in the area on online. Fortunately, there were no major issues with the boat but Grovers repaired/inspected ALL issues listed on the surveyor report. They pulled and inspected a thru port at my request prior to purchase. They replaced a faulty horn and compass, sealed minor overhead compartment rain leak and many others. They compd me for the fall dockage as a new owner. My service fees seem fair and comparable to what my friends pay for their boat. Marc, my salesman, has even helped me with all my noob boat questions even tho he is in sales. The marina is in an excellent location, close to Jones beach and the inlet if you wish to get out to sea quickly. The staff has been very friendly when I have bumped into them around the dock. Well see how the future goes but to date, my experience has been all positive.
The Best full service marina in the area. Dante Grover is one of the most Knowable persons in the Industry.
