This place is a local shop (I do my best to support local stores). They are friendly, and sell a lot of nuts and soups that you either cant find or afford in other places. They took their time to help me, and didnt make me feel like I was bothering them when I asked for assistance.

The Sierra Nut House is a long-time Fresno Classic located on the corner of Chestnut and Sierra. In addition to many varities of nuts, they sell dried fruits, jams, jellies, wines and gift boxes. They will ship for an extra charge. A tad expensive.

While visiting my cousin in Fresno, he raved about Sierra Nut House. He insisted we visit the store and choose a gift to send to my son and daughter-in-law in NYC. Lets start with this; Its pricey, and not just a little bit so. We chose a nice assortment and made arrangements to have it shipped to my sons apartment in NYC. It was to arrive by 4/11/2014. The charges came to $98. This might be a good time to mention that I had inquired about a certain tea and they happily walked me over to the tea section and to the desired tea. I picked up the tea and walked to the register to pay. The 2 employees who had walked me over to the tea did not follow. Rather, they stayed in the tea section chatting for several minutes until I walked back over to fetch one to the register.April 11th came and went and my son didnt mention the gift, so I asked if it had been received. It had not. I then spent several days trying to reach these folks by telephone (always went to an answering machine - that beeped, but did not give an outgoing message) AND by using their on-line contact form. The canned email response was either written by somebody with no grasp whatsoever of the English language or just didnt give a rip about grammar or sentence structure. The situation didnt leave me with a good feeling that they would be helpful. I first emailed them on 4/15/2014. On 4/23/2014 I received an email from Tara saying she would love to help, but needs my telephone number. This, apparently because she didnt notice that I had already provided that information on their contact form. She called 2 days later stating that she couldnt find the order in question. She had been looking for an on-line order, when I had CLEARLY stated in my original email (as well as in my verbal message) that the order was placed in the store.Finally, she located the order and called backed stating; The order was shipped and delivered by FedEx on 4/11/2014 at 10:35 AM heres the tracking number as proof. Weve done our part. Dumbfounded by her tone and attitude, I tracked the shipment and read this: 10:35 am Delivered Left at front door. Signature Service not requested. Did I mention this was sent to NEW YORK CITY?! So, basically they took almost a hundred bucks from somebody to ship some overpriced nuts to NYC and didnt even bother to make sure that the shipper delivered them properly.I have sent Tara another email advising that they should take responsibility and ship another package. Ive not heard back from her, but I expect nothing but apathy. I guess its time to tell my cousin to deny the charge on his credit card. So much for his rave reviews of this place.Seems like a nut house alright - and the lunatics are running the place!
