For many, many years this little spot has been a nice, peaceful, interesting place to sneak away to. Ive come across so many cool finds in this store over the years for gifts as well. Check them out! I promise you wont be disappointed.

Such an elegant bookstore, with lots of new and used books to choose from, as well as unique gifts for any occasion. The associates are very friendly, and I always enjoy stopping by to browse for a new book to read.

For simply not wearing an extra shirt under my t-shirt. Discriminated by the owner and verbally reprimanded for my religion. Lack of modesty Ive added a picture of what I was wearing on the day I was publicly humiliated and terminated.

My husband had to go to the VA hospital so I had some time to waste while he was at his appointment as we had driven down from Kingsland, GA. We dont have a single used book store there so I was thrilled to finally stumble across this gem of a store. The employees were actually happy to be there & to assist. I left pleased to have found an older horror novel I had been looking as well as another recommendation. Definitely think Ill join my husband more frequently for his appointments just so I can visit this cool bookstore again. 😊

Friendly staff, a large selection of used books, and they can order new ones they dont have. Appear limited to what they can order for you or it would be 5 stars. Still recommend a visit!

May be a nice store but the associate closed down the store 5 mins before closing time..did not turn off the open sign and door still open. Associate was pleasant and I knew just getting off work I would be cutting it close, but will visit store again when I have more time.

Dont go in without a mask unless you want to be chastised by other customers and workers. #willnevershopthere

Ive found some really cool stuff here over the years, including a set of russian tarot cards. They have a great selection of gifts and youll never know what youll find. I love going there to look for unique stuff.

Nice selection of books and gifts. Prices are on the high side for used books but the place is clean and the staff is helpful. As a side note, if you have fragrance allergies, best to avoid going here since theres a strong odor of incense.

Not only wasted my time by inviting me over the phone to come purchase an item, but then descrimated against me because of my medical condition and refused to sell. If I had the money to hire a lawyer I would sue.

Always a pleasure to mull around this independent book store-it even smells like old books (in the best way). They stock new and used books, as well as small, handmade boxes, jewelry, and trinkets. We were able to pick up all of our high schoolers summer reading titles, as well as 4 used volumes of poetry for $50. Highly recommend.

My wife and I have been customers at Book Gallery West since it opened. Weve enjoyed their whimsical birthday cards, creative gifts and wide selection of new and used books. Their staff are always helpful and courteous and we sometimes chat with the owner, Jan, who travels to NY and Atlanta to find her unique merchandise. It is wonderful to support a non-chain book store that is so Gainesville!

The book selection was great and it was fun to peruse through the great variety of books. However, I got there half an hour before closing and the person on staff kept reminding me that they were closing. They were rather curt in reminding me to check out a few minutes before closing and I felt like a nuisance rather than a paying customer.

It is a cute bookstore but but not what I expect of used bookstores. It reminded me more of our small local bookstore with cute gift items. I found a purse for my daughter. I also purchased a few books. I saved a few dollars $2/$3 over buying them new off Amazon but I would rather support a local business.If you are looking for a used book store where you can spend hours lost in the stacks head to Chamblins Book Mine in Jacksonville.

Anytime Im in Gainesville, Ill stop by BGW for the nice mix of new and used books. BGW also has a great selection of Florida centric volumes as well.

This is my favorite book store. It is one of the few locally owned in our area. I sell my books here for credit towards new books. They dont have everything..small store...but they can order it. We need to support local book stores and this one is worth it.

One of the only local bookshops in town.Not really a place to hang out but plenty of new and used books on the walls to peruse.Decent prices and friendly staff.

I was very pleased with my experience here. There was a huge selection of used books in excellent condition as well as some new with very fair prices. No musty, moldy smell to the books, no visible water damage - all the used books seemed in exquisite condition. I will definitely be back!

Book Gallery West trades books that we have already read. If they arent interested in your books, they donate the books to the Friends of the library nonprofit. Book Gallery West also carry beautiful cards, hand made hand bags and area for small children to read.

Pretty much one of the only independent bookstores left in Gainesville. Thankfully it has always been one of the best.

Everything a used-book store should be: eclectic, organized, and comfortably funky. In addition, they have an intriguing assortment of crafts and novelties...and some very nice candies right there by the check-out counter.

This place is AMAZING! The staff was eager and competent, and helped me find, by memory, all four relatively unknown books that I was searching for. Prices were perfect--a dollar for old paperbacks; five or six dollars for popular new editions in great condition.

I’m a professor living in NY now, and make a point of coming here every time I visit my hometown. Went in looking for books but felt uncomfortable with the snobby old ladies that worked there. One of the old lady’s with long brown hair made me feel unwelcome and awkward so I left without buying anything. Also the store was so hot I started sweating within five minutes of being in there.

I have been purchasing books from this bookstore since my oldest son started high school. He is now graduated and in college. I still use this store for most of my book needs. Whenever I call, or go in, Im ALWAYS treated with great customer service.

They have a remarkable selection of books. The atmosphere just isnt my cup of joe. Heard its been around for quite some time, and its definitely very Old Gainesville. The employees seemed knowledgeable about the inventory, if even a little too proud of the place. No harm, though. Ill probably just stick with my Barnes and Noble.

Book Gallery West: one of the only local book-stores still open in Gainesville. Decent selection but as of recent, the staff is somewhat lacking in lit knowledge. It seems like they used to pride themselves on this point but, not as much anymore.The entire places smells of lavender and Nag Champa and they have a wonderful wind-chime selection. Great place to get lost in endless stacks and fabled stories for a few hours.
