Stopped by this afternoon to rent my daughter a violin for this school year at around 5:30. A young man by the name of Iris helped my daughter and I. He was SOOO knowledgeable,kind and patient with my daughter. Such great customer service! provided a very detailed explanation of EVERYTHING that has to do with theViolin! I appreciated that so much. My daughter left so happy leaving the store with her brand new Violin and super excited to start playing! Will definitely be coming back if she continues to enjoy playing the Violin or for any other needs. He deserves a raise!!!!

We visited this place over 5 years ago when my daughter started playing violin and needed a rental. It by far had the best reviews in Montgomery County and it was right down the street from us. We now live further away but will continue going to Lashof. They have a great rent to own policy, a range of services and products, and all of the employees are knowledgable, professional, and genuine. Do not hesitate to choose Lashof if you are wondering which local violin shop to use.

Ive played the violin for a little more than 20 years, but of those years, I hadnt really played in about 5 years so Im EXTREMELY rusty. I recently rediscovered my passion for the violin and I remembered coming to this place when I was in middle and high school. ALL those years and their service is still unmatched! I started out renting a new violin because Ive wanted to upgrade from my student one for the LONGEST. The gentleman that helped me out was very knowledgeable and friendly. I love their rental program as it allows you to upgrade at any time to any instrument and theres no hidden fees or sneaky things you need to be on the lookout for. I went back over this past weekend to upgrade from the first rental and the same gentleman helped me out. Had 3 violins for me to try out prior to my arrival and the whole process was quick and seamless. I will ALWAYS come here for my violin needs and will rant and rave about this place to anyone who will listen.

It was an AMAZING experience visiting the store and upgrading my violin!!!So... I had my first violin from someone and I felt it’s the time to upgrade! When I walked in, I was welcomed by a staff with great smile. I addressed my needs and she asked questions to further optimize for my options.I was allowed to try 4 different violins and 3 different bows. There was no rush while I was choosing my violin. I was able to take time to pick my favorite violin and a bow!Another staff answered bunch of my questions (about the violin and the bow along with other questions) with passion and great knowledge.I’m so glad I picked Lashof and can’t wait to have more visits for my violin needs.I really appreciate all the staffs time, effort, and all the passion with kindness!! I recently took my violin (c. 1795) to Lashof after not having played for 16 years. After using the same trusted violin maker and shop in NJ from 1980-2004, I was reluctant to take the violin anyplace else.I could not be happier with Lashof’s service, knowledge and repairs. Great experience all around, including the young man who talked me through all the repairs and associated costs and checked me in and out with knowledge and efficiency.

I could not be more pleased with the technical expertise and professionalism I have encountered at Lashof’s Violin Shop. I have had work done on a very special pernambuco bow and, most recently, on a new professional grade bridge for my cello. The careful adjustments made to strings and sound post opened up the voice of the entire instrument. I was astounded.

This place is amazing! I went in to exchange my sons rental violin for a larger one and I was in the store less than 5 minutes! I was in a hurry, but I didnt expect it to be that quick! On top of that they are so incredibly friendly and helpful. I absolutely recommend them.

When I first started playing ages ago I looked to Lashof for a violin. They have great instruments and although I went with another luthier its worth your while to check out their inventory.My review is solely based off of a maintenance issue. I recently had my bow rehaird at Lashof and its falling apart. I have a degree in violin performance from the Boston Conservatory so Ive been playing violin for a while to say the least. Maybe its a bad batch of horse hair? All I can say is in my 20 years of playing I havent experienced breakage from the left, middle, and right. Usually its always on the left where the most pressure is applied Ive found that Brobst in northern VA is the best when it comes to bow rehairs.

Everyone is very nice and professional. They all are very knowledgable. They tell u in detail what need to be fixed with your violin to make it work. They give u honest opinion whether its worth to fix your violin or not. Their price is very reasonable. After they fixed my violin, it sounds so much better. I highly recommended.

I was looking to upgrade my violin and the Lashof folks were extremely accommodating. I scheduled their room 2 different times. Trialed violins at home and then came back again to trial several more violins. Whenever i had a question they were readily available. They even changed out the chin rest and moved the sound post. I highly recommend them for all your violin needs. Also, last year I took my less expensive student violin to them for maintenance. Again, they were very accommodating, professional, and explained everything they did. Their staff and luthiers are absolutely wonderful especially to an adult beginner player.

I tried going to different violin places, they were all more interested in How much I could afford and how to sale me something. Lashof was a perfect option, staff was really (still is) friendly, explained me well and asked questions to be able to provide what my family needed. I ended renting a violin with the option to buy, and I countt be happier. Im definitely going back as their trade-in program is unique and gives me the option to upgrade any time I want.

I bought my first violin here as an adult starting to learn to play. This is a wonderful store, they take the time to show you a range of choices. Great prices, too. Since I bought my student violin, I have found it for sale online for $100-200 more than here.

Honestly, this is one of my favorite places to go, because everyone there is so nice and friendly and I always learn new stuff about my instruments structure and stuff. Ive never been disappointed the whole time Ive known them, and its been about 6 years now!

Rating after returning here two years after our first visit. Theyve sold us two violins and their upgrade policy is excellent. Our previously violin was sold back to them for almost everything we originally paid two years ago. All told, we walked out having paid less than $100 for two years of violin use and got an up-sized higher quality previously used violin for just a small amount of extra cost.The store-front isnt impressive and the shop is small, but they have a good selection, good policies, and they have true violin luthiers and a workshop right in the store.We happily drive from Virginia to here and recommend others do the same.

Amazing got my violin fixed and came back to get strings and my dad didnt know English very well so I was able to help over the phone and the process was very fast. They are amazing I would choose them any day over anything.

Seldom do I find myself drawn into loyalty to a business. Lashof Violins has become an exception. I find myself driving by two much closer music shops for all my violin repairs and music purchases. Customer service and quality worksmanship are rare. Lashof Violins has both in spades! Moreover, they have amazingly fast turn around, good prices, and friendly people. Cant recommend anyone else in MoCo over these guys! I believe they service all string instruments, too, not just violins. Call first to verify though. :)

The staff makes this store great. Im a violin teacher, and I and my students have a lot of great experiences with Lashofs. They take lots of time helping each individual, and they treat each person as an individual. Theyre happy to talk to you, answer your questions, and give you free advice. In many violin stores, the staff just takes something from the shelf and hands it to you. Lashofs has a rent-to-buy program for beginners, and my students have got very good violins for very low prices there. Lashofs is a gem.
