Had the spring on my double garage door break and needed an immediate repair. Called A1 and even though it was 5:00P they dispatched Landus to come by and fix the problem. Landus arrived shortly after the call and began the replacement of the spring. Along the way he pointed out other items of concern that should be replaced.The job was finished promptly and Landus left no trace he had been there, except for the shiny new spring.If I ever need garage door service in the future I will first call A1 and will request they send out Landu.Great job Landus and A1.

A1 Garage Door and my tech Norbert are tops! I was able to make an appointment for early the next morning to work around my schedule. I needed to get the door back on its tracks after it was hit by a car. Norbert knows his stuff and was super helpful. He got the door working again and after a detailed safety inspection, I know what I need in a new door. Definitely recommend A1 Garage Door.

Had Ryan, a senior tech from A1 Garage come out to check my garage door today. He couldnt have been more professional and courteous. He took care of the maintenance on the door and then gave some great advice on what and when to do next. Absolutely a perfect job well done. I would highly recommend this man for a raise! Was very good to answer all the questions I had and just genuinely enjoyed his company.

If you call this company be aware they will try to hustle and rip you off. The lady that scheduled me was very nice. Said shed have a technician at my house between 8 am and 1 pm on a Saturday. I requested 10 am but wanted my garage door fixed so was open to being available to a large window of time. The tech showed up at 8 am and woke me up. He immediately Identified a broken spring (I had told the scheduler I had a broken spring so everyone knew what we were dealing with). The tech then quoted me over 900 dollars. I had only been awake a minute and said that sounded high but I needed it fixed. As he went to his truck for parts I made a few calls and discovered this a 300- to max 400 dollar job. I went out and told him they charge too much and he immediately lowered the price to $462. He said, Im not trying to rip you off, and yet that is exactly what he was doing until I called him on it. Get this, he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar and he goes in for another one. He tells me my bearings are going out. Ok, fair enough, I need new bearings. He quotes me 200 dollars to replace them. I go inside and look it up and they are 10 dollars. I asked him to leave. He then said hed not charge for the bearings at all. His original labor quote was 300 dollars. The actual amount of time working was less than the icky used car salesman haggling this company does. ICKY. I expect it at a used car lot but on a simple spring replacement for a garage door I was sorely disappointed by repeated attempts to swindle me. So, after working for 15 minutes he was done. $498.05 out the door for a job that any other company in town would have done for 300-400 dollars without trying to rip me off first. If you guys at A1 are going to do business like this at least bring some lube off your truck when you ring the door bell for your customers, they will need it for the way you treat them. This was my first and last interaction with A1 Garage Door Service.

The spring on my garage door broke and I gave A1 a call. Less then 2 hours later they were at my house. Seth and Orvil (I hope this was his name) did a fantastic job replacing the springs and other components of the door that had been neglected over the years. Basically got scammed. Was told it was a $25 call out fee, then when the technician arrived, it was $25+$145 to inspect. The inspection was about 5 minutes of poking around to conclude I need a whole new system, which would cost approximately 5x what I could just buy it for myself. Nice.

Ill start this review at the end of the story! Blake installed a new garage door today-and he did a FABULOUS job! Its important to note this was NOT an easy installation-I have a 1926 Bungalow in the North End and even though the garage isnt that old, it presented unusual challenges to say the least. Thank you Blake for your tenacity, commitment to excellence, good nature and patience! A-1 in general has been very good to deal with-their intention is genuine and customer service has been very responsive. I was a cranky customer as the wait was slightly over 3 months from order to installation-but the delay was due to Covid complications and the manufacturers. So thank you A-1 for your professionalism and patience!

It was refreshing to have a technician such as Peyton assigned to repair my garage door. I was additionally appreciative of the cheerful office staff in keeping me updated on the status of Payton’s arrival to my home. Peyton was not only professional but sensitive to the COVID pandemic and followed the CDC recommendations. I felt no pressure with his assessment of the issues vs my financial limitations and provided me with options to make an good informed decision. ****This is not a review if their products or services****I am not a customer of this company but I would like to share that I applied for an open position up here in boise and I was contacted by an employee named Jasmin. Jasmin, was very nice and friendly in our correspondence back and fourth.However, she blew me off two times for a phone interview and personally I find that very unprofessional.Whoever is in charge of hiring, please make sure your employees up here in idaho are doing a better job and time management.Thank you.

The service techs are very professional and polite. The customer service reps have completely ruined my experience with this company. They messed up my scheduled appointment, did not let me speak after expressing my frustration in a professional manner and hung up on me when I asked to speak with a supervisor.They went to the extent to have me listen to my original call, which I did and still tried to lie and tell me I was wrong. They set up my appointment for arrival time of 12 to 1, then later told me my actual appointment is from 1 to 6 after I called amd said nobody showed up. Even after listening to my phone call with the scheduler, they carry state 12 to 1.When I asked to speak to the supervisor, the CSR rel so oh my god placed me on hold and then came back and tried to argue with me further. After further insisting I speak to her supervisor she hung up on me.The technician, who is great, called and said he would be here around 4-5 and will only take about 30 minutes to repair. This after the texting service told me they take 2 hours for repair.I have never been treated so poorly, this company has the worst customer service, and not one person has even attempted to make anything right. Not to mention, they are over priced and took over 4 months to complete my repair.

I had them come out for a tune up and roller replacement. Ben showed up at a good time, was very friendly, did a great job, explained everything clearly to me, and told me about some upgrades and wasn’t being a pushy salesman. I will definitely use A1 in the future for any of my garage door needs!

I can’t say enough about A1. The entire process was exactly how I would’ve wanted it. I called and booked an appointment for the very next day. They told me they would be able to install next day as well.I got a call and a text to let me know they were on their way. The text came with a photo of my installer and a little bit about him. Very smart.Then I met my installer, Peyton. Peyton is the man! He did a great job educating me about my options. He took his time making sure the information he was giving me was correct. His approach was all education, no pressure and he let me decide. I own my own business and sales is a main focus of what we do, and this is the best way to sell in my mind.Peyton installed half of my order that afternoon and then was back at 8am the next day do finish the job.I was so very pleased with ever step of this process. If more companies would use this model and deploy it properly, the service industry would be in a better place.

Payten was nice and corrected our issue. The reason behind the three stars is I felt that they were sneaky with their prices. We scheduled a tune up for $49. When Payton got here he told me about a $20 trip charge which was never disclosed at the time of scheduling. He kindly removed the fee but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Be honest upfront and disclose all information.

Josh from A1 Garage Doors came by to give us an estimate for our garage door today. We did not plan on getting service done and wanted to start getting estimates for our garage door. After speaking with him, we new he was a wealth of knowledge. He showed us the pros and cons of their products, was very friendly, didnt come across as a salesperson but more of a trusted friend to work with. He showed us what needed to be done, and said he had the parts and could do it right then. We ended up moving forward with the repair right then. Josh did an amazing job, was efficient and even offered to help program our other garage door opener after he was all done. I definitley recommend Josh and A1 Garage Doors. They know what they are doing and are professionals. I will now be a return customer for life.

The guys did a good job. Showed up when they said they would. Their prices were higher than other quotes that I got after but they worked with me so I would remain a satisfied customer. I appreciate their customer service and honesty.

Didnt show up when he said he would. Said hed arrive between 1pm and 6pm, but he showed up at 11am, so we werent ready. My wife had to get out of the shower to open the door for him. He checked why my garage door wasnt opening and told me it was the motor since it was 20+ years old. That was good to know, since it wasnt the spring or rails.Then he tried to sell me a replacement motor for $750, like I wasnt going to google how much a motor costs. He kept telling me about a bunch of discounts that would make me only have to pay for the motor and not labor so it would just be $750 and not $950. When I said Id have to talk to my wife about it before dropping almost $1000, he got more and more pushy, saying if I didnt agree to him doing the work right then and there, it would be even more expensive. Almost like he knew that if I google how much a motor costs or talked to anyone, Id realize he was ripping me off. I had to tell him I wasnt having him do the work that day 6 times before he got the message. He kept offering different ways of spreading the cost over a year, and I kept saying its still very expensive, no matter how long you spread it out for, and I need to talk about it with my wife. Literally 6 times before he stopped being pushy.Then he put a huge sticker on my door and on my old motor that says the warranty is void if I remove or cover the sticker. What warranty? He didnt work on my door or motor, just looked at it to tell me what was wrong.The good news is that despite that, he technically did do what I wanted and told me what the problem was. I went to home depot and bought a motor for $150 and installed it myself. Now it works perfectly.

Not a great experience at all. They did come same day, as scheduled and the people were nice but they emphasized selling me everything new (complete new garage doors) and seemed disinterested in actually diagnosing my problem and honestly talking about repair options. They pointed out how everything I had was inferior quality and should be upgraded / replaced with their high quality replacements. I expected a service call to diagnose my non-functioning door and instead got a 30 minute sales call. The bid for what they said was the minimum fix (replacing my door springs with regular torsion springs — with a current special discount — was $764. I decided to get some different quotes and had it quoted and fixed the next day by a different company (same repair) for almost 1/3 the price. And the new company actually came and walked me through the diagnosis, showed me what was wrong and replaced my broken springs with a top of the line torsion spring system — and adjusted and serviced my opener for free. It was a completely different experience. So I’m sure they do fine work but don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions and be prepared to shop around.

Spencer did an amazing job repairing my garage door. He was professional, courteous, and prompt. I feel he went above and beyond his role as per the work order and guided us in our choice for a new door. I will be reaching out to him again in the future for other projects and services with A1.

Just this morning I paid $834 for one hour of service, new springs and a wheel that was off track. As the technician was leaving he informed me that all of the plastic wheels needed to be replaced and that it was therefore still unsafe. When I complained about the high price he told me that he threw in the normal $60 greese and service fee for free. Apparently they charge a flat fee for each particular type of repair even if they are related. $234 for a 10 minute fix for a wheel that was off-track; $20 for the arrival fee; and then over $600 to repair a spring. All on the same service call and cumulative.. They were grossly overpriced. The only way to avoid this would have been to closely question them upon arrival as to what their initial fee quote included. If I had known that it would not cover an hour’s worth of routine items and that every problem they diagnose would be an additional several hundred dollars I would have sent them packing. Be very careful with this outfit.

The tech was late. Extremely assertive. Not respectful of my time. After he left I went to garage to check work. He took the liberty of tagging my entire garage with A-1 stickers. Last count 6 removed. Not cool. Tried to upsale me to a new door. Was busy and trying to get him to leave. Asked to be sent quote and he didn’t. Called or should I say war dialed and texted me while I was working on conference call to follow up on door replacement. A-1 for No one.

A couple of months ago I ordered two custom garage doors from A1 Garage Door Service of Boise. There were obstacles to overcome with production due to the Covid-19 virus, and the install started off a bit bumpy, but all in all I couldnt be happier with my doors and the service I received. The market lead manager, Skyler Wilson, personally stopped by to check on the install progress. He went over every detail of the install with a fine-toothed comb to ensure all aspects of the install were completed thoroughly and accurately. He even helped me load the app to my iPhone that tells me if a door has been left open, and SO much more. Im still educating myself to all the whistles and bells this new garage door package provides. I will not hesitate to call on A1 Garage Door Service in the future and encourage anyone in need of garage door service to give them a call as well.

A1 Garage Door Service was able to come out same day over the weekend and repair my garage door that had partially come unmounted from the ceiling. Apparently my 300lb garage door was on the verge of total failure and could have broken free and collapsed onto my garage floor. The technician (Seth) was able to come out and fix the problem, but he also advised me of several other issues with the opener unit and springs (which had just been replaced by another company in Aug.). Seth was awesome and very professional. I would definitely use A1 in the future for any garage door needs or services.

So my old garage opener stopped working. I called A1 at 1pm. They arrived an hour later that day. (Shocked at same day service anymore) turns out the builder used a cheap spring system. Skyler Wilson from A1 walked me through all my options from cheap repairs to upgrade options to all new door and system. I chose some cool upgrades. He had all the parts needed and completed the install in just a few hour. Upon completion he walked me through all the cool new app functions and even programmed all my vehicles openers. Very happy with the repair of my garage door. It was nice to talk to a real person when I called A1. The technician Seth was very professional and knowledgeable. He was able to repair my garage door the same day I called. I recommend A1 very highly.

Made an appointment to have my door tuned up because it was slamming the last foot on closing. The technician was very nice and pleasant. He diagnosed that the spring needed to be replaced. However, they do not carry that type of spring and that I would need to replace the whole system. Called my current system cheap “a one and done system” even though it’s worked great for 10 years. The technician then quoted me almost $1100 to replace my current spring and cable system. I was shocked at the price. Here I thought I called them out for a $45 tuneup as my garage was working. Then when I seemed hesitant about the price, he suddenly was able to add all these discounts dropping the price to just over $600. Which was great but seemed strange. At this point I felt like I was being swindled. All of a sudden a $500 discount from his initial quote within minutes?? I’d off appreciated the $600 quote or their best price available from the beginning. I asked again, “you really can’t just replace the spring” or if he knew of any garage repair companies that might carry that particular spring since they don’t. I also asked if they didn’t carry it as a repair option due to being discontinued? He said he had no idea for either and again because it’s a cheaper spring that’s why their company doesn’t carry it as a repair option. I let him know I’d like to possibly look into any other companies that might before spending that much money on “needing” to replace my whole system. He then performed the tuneup on other areas of the garage which took less then ten minutes. Not sure what he actually did... I was also never informed of the $20 trip charge when I made the appointment so that was a surprise too. Initially, he did mention he’d waive the trip charge since I was not informed of it but then did charge me for it in the end. After leaving, the first company I called to get a second opinion confirmed they could in fact solely repair the spring in my current system for $206 (including labor). In the end, to be quoted almost $1100 then suddenly $600 I just felt like I was being swindled into buying a system I really didn’t need. Crazy to think I almost spent hundreds of dollars more than I needed too. A perfect example of how it pays to get a second opinion.

I had an overhead door motor replaced this week by A1 Garage Door Service. It is excellent equipment and it was installed very nicely and efficiently by a young man named Payten Hopkins. He was friendly, knew what he was doing and even called on his own as a follow-up on a cell phone issue that was unresolved. Sometimes the electronics can get messy, but I know he will stick with me until we get the issue resolved. I could not recommend A1 and Payten strongly enough to really give him the evaluation he deserved. MC in South East Boise

Garage door began having issues with opening the 1st time. An appointment was scheduled for the following day and our technician Seth B. called when he was 15 minutes away and arrived during the appointed scheduled time. A+ for time management.The issue turned out to be the garage door springs could no longer hold the weight of the door. We had him check our RV garage door also and while it was not as bad, we chose to replace the springs as well. He had all the parts to replace springs on both doors (lifetime), rollers and basic maintenance that was needed.A1 held up their statement that their technicians arrive prepared to repair any issue (as least in our case). Cudos to the company and awesome job by their technician Seth B. Dont know what they pay him, but its probably not enough.

I am fairly new to the area so when I had a garage door emergency a neighbor had highly recommended A1. The technician they sent out, Skyler was exceptional.Its refreshing to deal w a business where the technicians are open, honest, personable and know their stuff. I never felt pressured and everything was explained in a way even this ( non mechanical :) person could understand. Thank you to A1 and thank you to Skyler!

I couldn’t be anymore pleased. Payten was on time, friendly, and professional. He explained my overall door health while never pushing me into a purchase or repair I could not have afforded. The adjustments I needed were completed to my satisfaction. I SHALL use them again if and when I need additional repairs .

After giving a bad review, they refunded $400. This better review is in recognition of their adjustment to the price. Works great now.

My original post, while accurate, was posted while frustrated at the salesman. I have since then changed my review. This was due to the actual owner of the whole company reaching out to me to see what happened and how it can be fixed. We had an open & honest discussion where he was very apologetic and truly interested in what I had to say on why my review was so low. He offered to try to make it right, but that ship has sailed since I had the service done by another business. The point being... him, as the owner, personally calling me to correct a wrong is huge in my book. It tells me that this company will do what it takes to make it right with the customer. Also having an owner who wants to improve his company by personally righting the wrongs and taking the words (as harsh as they can be sometimes) from customers to heart is something you dont see much of today. How wrong I was to make such a broad judgemental review based on one interaction of an agressive salesman trying to do his job. I would definitely recommend this company based on its character of the owner who takes an active role in improving his company for the customers they have.

A1 Garage Door was awesome. I had Payten as the service tech and he did a great job. I had a broken spring on the garage door and Payten explained what was wrong, what my options were to fix it, and then did an amazing job repairing the door. An overall phenomenal experience.

I had an old garage door opener which wasnt operating properly. Skylar came to replace it. He was very knowledgeable, professional and thorough in explaining everything to me. It was really hot that day and I know he was miserable, but still worked very quickly and was persistent. I highly recommend this nice young man.
