This City Garage location is great. John gives great customer service and takes care of issues efficiently. I have been in several times with my truck over the past few years and I feel they have done great work. When the service is done, he gave me a list of optional services I might want to consider for my 17 year old truck but did not pressure me at all, just a printout of the list on the back of the receipt and let me know they were there. I have had suspension work, AC work and some other things taken care of here.

The service was great. Located the problem & repaired it at only the repair charge that was needed, nothing more. Very honest, clean environment & friendly customer service. I will bring my car for any future service needed to City Garage.

Recently I bought a used car and had to get inspection, tires, and etc. done and I was distraught at the amount I had to take on. I walked in and asked about everything and I can’t tell anyone how grateful I am. John the manager took care of everything in such a professional manner among other things he went out of his way to do to help with my situation financially as he could. I’ve worked in the car industry and no one has to be as gracious as he was. The best part was that he just made me feel a lot better about the stress I was under and that is a lot to me. I will have to be honest, I am a mechanic myself and normally do all my own work when I can. I was in Richardson, Tx working at our office when I had the issues start with my truck. Being out of town you never know who you can trust to do good and trust worthy work for you. Even with me questioning them about the work they were telling John and the guys were doing or needing to do. They were very professional and patient. They determined one of the parts they initial thought was faulty and needed to install was not and returned it to the supplier without charging me. They could have very easily charged me for that part and not said a word and I would have never known. This won my trust in them and their character. So moving forward if I need work done and I am in Richardson they will be taking care of it for me.

I needed to get a vehicle inspection done in a tight time window on my lunch break. I drove past several garages with lines until I reached City Garage. There was not a line, and now I know why. The guy behind the counter says Weve done your state inspections three times but never any maintenance. We arent that kind of garage. We do service and maintenance. Repairs and oil changes, that kind of thing. There are places with big signs all over the place where you can get your inspection done. Theres a place across the street that does inspections. END QUOTE.I was made to feel like my business was not valued, and so I will not be coming back to City Garage on Plano Rd for any of my future automotive needs.

I went in for an inspection and waited for about 5 minutes before being acknowledged. Once someone did notice me, they told me they would not be able to do an inspection today with no additional reason as to why. No time to do an inspection and your shop is open for another 5 hours?...I specifically came here based on the other positive reviews. No thanks!

All I needed was a last minute inspection just before closing time. My car had been in the body shop for 3 months and my tags were 3 months out of date. I was supposed to go out of town the next day. They stayed late, did the inspection. They were great and thankfully all was well. Should I ever need service they will be my first call.

These guys are great. Good communication, easy process. I was purchasing a vehicle in TX as an out of state buyer. City Garage worked with me and the seller to coordinate a pre-purchase inspection prior to my flying to Dallas. Thanks guys.

New tires installed took about half hour promised in an hour, which is awesome! Very friendly, offered many services and specials. Knocked off one star only because my wheel lock was not put back in same place I keep it . I had to look all over for it to make sure I still had it before leaving.

Very thorough and reasonably priced. Theyre willing to work with you to make sure you get what you need/want and nothing more. The rewards program gives you a free oil change. They take care of my vehicle and are safety conscientious. If youre in a bind they have a zero percent finance program, which is better than most credit cards. Im kind of new to the neighborhood and my first experience somewhere else was a total failure. Im glad I found this place. Im also very glad they can efficiently handle scheduling appointments through email. It makes it helpful when Im in conference calls all day (the new norm).

I would have given 5 stars had I been given the chance to actually decline the work that they say I declined on my receipt. I was there to get an oil change and have brakes checked. After the guy behind the counter gave me my keys and receipt I asked if their was anything I needed to address, he told me that the brake fluid was very dirty. After paying is not the time to mentions such... had I known before he handed me my keys, I would have paid to get it fixed. Guess some places just don’t want their customers to fix things and would just prefer them to leave not knowing. I feel had I not asked, I wouldn’t have been told and that doesn’t sit well.

Brought my 2007 Ford F150 in to have a diagnosis on the Break and ABS light remaining on. Got a call later on and was told that the EBCM module had failed. According to the rep, the module for my truck had no longer been produced by Ford since 2015 and no after-market ones were ever produced. No other sources for it could be found. Since this also meant automatic failing of a state inspection, I was basically told to consider trading in my truck. This news cost me $160.Since this is my daily work truck, I took the truck straight to the Ford dealer for a second opinion. The diagnosis was ABS module failure. They, however, had all the parts on hand (complete EBCM/ABS unit) and the truck is being repaired right now. I did have to pay for diagnosis again, of course.I wasted $160 and an hour of my time with City Garage to get inaccurate advice. Your mileage may vary.Edit: City Garage did reach out to me after this review and told me their parts source had given them the wrong information. That was it. No refund or even partial refund, because the diagnostics were performed. Sure, but because your follow-up was wrong, regardless of reason, I had to shell out for that all over again elsewhere.

Went in for an inspection. The people were friendly, service was quick, and they were really informative about when. To get oil changes since I haven’t been driving much due to covid.

Good customer service and clean premises. Trust them with my car to make all repairs and will be returning in the future. Hard to find good places like this that aren’t so busy and dirty.

Tried to come in for a State inspection and waited about 5 minutes and no one came until I tried going to the office to see if anyone was there. Then someone came and told me they didnt have anyone for an inspection at this time. I was not asked if I can come back at a certain time or schedule an appointment so I wasnt sure when they will be available. All they instructed was to never come through their entrances as it was not safe. I had no idea so that was understandable. Not sure about their work but I was just not impressed with the service. Went and got my inspection done really quick at another shop near them.

Came in because Ive seen the garage all the time. Had to *emphasis on had to* check my brakes ... was making squealing noises.City garage did a 30 point check and gave me all the details and the situation with my truck. The transparency here is amazing. After discussing the work options, got a text to line item choose what Id like them to work on and what I didnt want to work on. This was pretty cool and no pressure on me making my decision.They even drove me home while they worked on my truck. Cannot say enough good things about City Garage.

Wwayyyy overpriced. $150 to run a diagnostic test and outrageous labor fees. I declined all services, after they wanted to change me almost $500 to replace 2 things and that only took a couple of minutes to replace. I know this bc I did it at home. I do not recommend these people theyre not honest and rude and dont follow CDC guidelines.

Love this location! Jonathan explains everything very well, what you need and what you might need without being pushy. I have been going to this location for the last 5 years and my 10 year old car runs great.

I dont know if I have been racially profiled or not, but I was in for a yearly service inspection and I was told that they typically dont do that type of service and have I tried to get service inspections through another dealer. As if, he recommended me to go elsewhere. However 2 white individuals walked in and that same statement wasnt given to them. I left to give my business to someone who will very well appreciate taking money.

Way to expensive and the guy on the phone was short with me to the point of being rude

They always do a great job no matter the location I utilize. This time I asked about if the transmission level was OK? because its shifting different in the last few weeks...was told there isnt a way to ck it no dip stick. Went home looked in the jeep manual. There it was ~SAME bright yellow dipstick as the oil dip stick except in the rear of the engine. Took it back up there and showed him where it was, he blamed it on technician as stating there was no way to view the transmission level. UggggOther than that...always good service/experience.

I have been going here for a couple of years now, and have always been taken care of no matter what car issues I face. The guys here are straightforward, realistic, and dont try to squeeze your hard-earned dollars out of you. I truly feel like they are working in my best interest which hasnt been the case with other garages/dealerships. I walk in/call in and they know who I am and the car I drive so they actually try to make a working relationship with you. They can get busy (because they are amazing) so I recommend trying to make appointments or calling to see if they can work with you. You guys are amazing and thank you for your great work!!

We took our car in for inspection and Jacob Wood failed it for “parking brake does not hold vehicle”. He stated it would cost about $120 to tighten the break. We took the car to our mechanic and he released the car stating it was fine. There were no issues with the parking brake as we had tested it ourselves. Took the car back to city garage and they failed it the second time for the same reason. Took the car to another shop immediately and the car passed the inspection with no trouble. Based on 2 mechanics the breaks were in great condition. When the manager (Nick Colvin) was notified he did not seem to care about our concern. Sounds like they were upset since we did not fall for their initial proposal to fix the issue at their shop. We will not be returning to this place due to their unethical standards.

They were very professional the service advisor John is well informed and gave some helpful advice to my son they did a synthetic oil change on my vehicle and they honored the special through AAA...thanks.

I took my car to get its inspection. I’ve taken it to other places before and they tell me I’ll be charged $25 but they change it to $7 after getting it checked, I’m guessing because it’s the state cost for a very small electric car. This place still charged me $25.50 even though the sheet they gave me said $7.00 and then they wanted to charge me $171 to change the front headlight. They said it was because they couldn’t reach the bulb and had to remove stuff to get to it, but it still seemed like an overcharge. I ended up doing it myself instead.Edit: They called me and gave me a check for the overcharge, saying they have never had an electric car inspected before.

City Garage repaired the brake booster on my car. They fixed my car in a timely manner. I will use City Garage for future repairs.GS

The staff is very helpful and honest. Nick was very helpful getting the parts as quickly as possible. But the part companies can be slow. The men in the back are awesome. They really know what they are doing and the shop looks clean and well taken care of. I will be coming back.

They seem to be good people, not trying to sell you things you dont need, and they have gone above and beyond trying to diagnose one car I have.

I came in for an inspection and they said I failed for something very minor that probably shouldn’t have been failed... so we got that fixed and came back a few days later. I was treated very poorly. I had forgotten one sheet of paper from last time but that is no excuse for how I was I talked to. The second time did go faster thankfully but it’s not worth going back...

They are the best place to take your car for anything. They have the best prices anywhere and I don’t have to spend much to get my car fixed. They worked fast to finish my car and I got it back shortly after I gave it to them. They treated me so nice and told me exactly what they were going to do, how long it would take, and how much it would cost. They definitively know how to run their business right and professionally. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs to get their car fixed fast and at a good price. Would recommend to my family, friends, and strangers.

Fantastic service! Brought my older car in on a Saturday afternoon for an oil change and state inspection, having never been in before. No one was in front of me, but Nick quoted me a 45-60 minute wait, which I was fine with as I wasn’t in a rush. They have a smaller staff, but were able to get me in and out in less than 30 minutes to my surprise and delight. Also, as the other reviews mention, they aren’t the cheapest, but the quality of work and customer service is well worth the extra money. If you have the time, and want to feel 100% confident in your vehicle after leaving, go visit these guys!

I have been coming here for years, and I appreciate that they have a higher standard of work, and dont do shoddy repairs or use cheap parts to lower costs that will just cause more trouble in the long run.

I do not know about others but encountered a bad apple staff. You can take chances but I will NOT DO anymore state inspections here. Horrible reasons that one staff made to make me repair parts that note as causes of failure. Like : WIPERS DO NOT CLEAN WELL despite the cars wipers being just recently replaced with a new set and without evidence of being worn out. That staff also noted that power steering is leaking without actually testing. HE just assumed because it appeared like it was leaking. Did second and third opinions and 2 state inspectors all agree whoever saw my car was trying to juice a vulnerable customer like me who doesnt seem to know about cars.

Technician attempted to sell me >$1000 in repairs that did not need to be done and would not honor assessment fees to the cost of an alignment. They attempted to entrap me in unnecessary costly repairs with high pressure sales tactics.Avoid at all costs.There are too many garages out there to spend any money City garage.

Loved this place. Will recommend to all family and friends. I’ve had the worst luck with my car since day one. I knew after getting some work done I needed more things fixed so I brought it here. Fast and easy service

I had my breaks done a few months ago and John and his team were fantastic! Broke everything down for me and told me exactly what I needed done and nothing more. I didnt remember to give a five star review then, but I was reminded when I had to slam on my breaks on the highway. I was able to miss a bad accident, which could have hurt my two year old son. Make sure to get your breaks done on time and get them done here if you want the best and most honest treatment!

I had a bad experience with this shop however what makes a good company is their willingness to correct a bad experience within their business limits. They reached out to me and cut me some deals on labor & parts and for that I did appreciate. The manager was apologetic and seemed sincere in his desire to correct the experience. Anyone can have a bad experience regardless of reviews the importance is how they go about correcting it & changing that experience.

If you want your car fixed cheap then this is not the place but if you want it done right this is the spot. Very knowledgeable crew and very helpful. They will even give you a ride if your car has to stay the night. Would recommend for sure

I went in for a state inspection, was told it would take about 30-40min, cool no big deal.. I was in and out in 15 minutes!!! I was so pleasantly surprised! I could also hear employees making calls to other customers and each time they were knowledgeable, kind, and fair. They will definitely get my business in the future!

The person at the front desk was entitled, expected me and another customer so know exactly what we were asking for and acted full of himself and talked down to each of us when we didn’t say something exactly right. This was both me, a 24 year old woman, and a man in his 40s-50s. He sighed several times throughout service to us both. In addition a part for my car wasn’t in stock and he chose to tell me after my hour and a half wait instead of updating me throughout the process.

We started hearing a humming, moaning, grinding sound towards the rear of our car. My boyfriend thought my bearings were bad. He suggested City Garage because he gets his oil changes done there. I went in expecting the worst. Nick took a look and told me he thought it was just a bad tire (he was right). My boyfriend was at least smart enough to have a full size spare in the back. I wasnt financially ready to buy tires that minute. No problem. Nick put it on in 5 minutes. Cant say enough about how excellent the whole thing went.Thank You, City Garage!

Didn’t feel like I was given the best deal felt like it was over priced if you get a check engine light diagnostics test done there and you get your car fixed there it should have been a discount on the final bill and the front desk staff was not friendly don’t think I will go to city garage again

I have been coming to this place on and off for service/maintenance over the last couple of years. I appreciate the fact they are very straight forward and take the time to explain everything if you have any questions. The prices are reasonable and I dont feel like Im being taken advantage of like at a dealership.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience here on Friday. I went in for an inspection and the process was quick and painless. I dealt directly with the store manager (John), who was extremely friendly and professional, not just to me, but to everyone that called or came in while I was there! My vehicle needs some more serious work done, which I discussed with the manager, and will be returning soon to get those things taken care of. I am very excited to have found this place. They were very nice, knowledgeable and compassionate about my situation. Already had my spare on and another tire decided to go flat. They where closed and I left my car in front the shop. The only issue was when I called to let them know it was my vehicle the information was not disseminated to all the proper people. But after bringing my stock tires they fixed me up and helped me with the most cost efficient solution. I would recommend them to anyone. Thanks Guys!

Sadly, I have a car that is dying and ends up at the shop monthly. These guys are so nice each time I come in with a new problem. They try to find every discount they can to help me out. They explain everything to me so Im not completely lost. They do their job and they do it right! Thank you guys for everything!

Ive had great experiences at the City Garage in Garland and also in Plano. My recent need was simple involving oil change, checking fluids, and inspecting my SUV for road readiness. The guys did a fantastic job. Quick, thorough, reasonably priced, and cordial (even talked a little fishing while there). On another occasion I had to have my alternator replaced. Again same type of service. I would highly recommend these guys to every one needing auto servicing.

I went to get an inspection done. I didnt pass. Foggy headlights, loose parking break, two worn back tires. The bill they hand me to fix all those issues, over $1200. I was able to fix it for about $300.

They do quality work and its easy to get in for most services. Prices can be high because you essentially pay extra (without option) for an extended warranty on work.Edit 11-JUL-2019: To be clear, this is intended to be a positive review for City Garage. Ive been there several times. My son has been there more than once. Im sure well continue to use City Garage any time we want the job done by professionals.Its an economic reality that not everyone can afford the extra cost of the 3 year, 36K mile warranty. A 90 day, 3600 mile warranty would probably be a popular option for many. Given the choice, some would forego the extra cost and assume a little more risk. Of course, City Garage has to run their business in a way that works for them. The over-arching reason from mentioning it is to avoid it being a surprise for anyone.

City Garage did an excellent job. Very transparent with timely repair. Secondly they are a AAA designated location. Their service exceeded my expectations.

Its not a free service but they saved me a lot of grief and money because of the amount of repairs that would have been required. Always satisfied when I walk out of here. From simple oil changes and tire patches to state renewals and more they just fix my car. They dont up-sell, or try to scare me into spending more money, they...just..fix..my..car. They have AAA discounts, and they always find a way to knock a few bucks off so I appreciate that too. I like that they consistently under promise and over deliver. For example just came in this morning for a tire patch, and decided to get an inspection too. They told me up front were a little busy, lookin at 1-1/2 hours. I was in and out in 45 minutes. A+ guys.

I blew out a tire on my way to work this morning and coasted into this shop. They said they dont sell tires, but that they would put my spare on for me. After the long ordeal that this job entailed, (I didnt have my spare with me) I asked about the price, and the guy at the front said it was on the house. I manage a competing shop and can tell you, this is no small thing. They helped me when I needed it at no benefit to themselves. This is customer service at its finest. Everyone was very polite and knowledgeable. I highly recommend going here for your automotive needs.

I went to get an inspection, and the place I usually go to was busy. So I went to City Garage across the street because they were slow. Failed the ebrake test, but the very nice guy at the desk was happy to quote 1.5 hours labor to fix it. It took me 15 minutes. So I came back to get the free re-inspection several days later. I parked adjacent to the side of their building (not blocking any traffic) and went inside with paperwork. The guy tasked to re inspect the ebrake was grumbling and then yelled profanity walking to my car (glad I didn’t have my kids with me this time). He came in and handed me my key chain saying something about how he couldn’t figure out the key, and barked at me to move the car and come back. No thanks. I’d rather go pay for a new inspection across the street and wait for as long as it takes.

City Garage is a great place to take your car too. I have never had a bad experience with them. I have used the Addison location and when I moved to Garland a few years ago I started going to that location. They are honest and never try to upsell you unnecessary maintenance.

Desk guys are honest and will not find fake vehicle issues to jack the price. Highly recommend.
