Love just walking around and smelling the books seeing if a story catches my eye.
Walk in and smell the roses, I mean books.Location is clean and well kept, stand tables and end caps are arranged and ordered to where I can easily find a topic, genre, or author with little to no effort.Staff are friendly, but only tend to acknowledge you the first time around and then dont follow up unless you seek them out.As always, the addition of the Starbucks inside the bookstore is always a nice plus, being able to buy a new hardcover and enjoy the first few chapters over a hot coffee is a never ceasing joy.
Books are more expensive in store than online. Store was very very well manicured. Diligent staff to make the store pristine and also very helpful.
This store and it’s staff are nice and clean. But I do have an issue with the lay out. Why on Earth would you put the kids section on the second floor with a big balcony? Some Kids were on top looking down debating on dropping items to the ground or on customers but I was way more concern with them falling. Please move your kids section to the ground floor. Safety is always best.
The staff were helpful, but honestly we didnt need much. When we went to the help desk to ask about a book we had reserved, we were directed to the registers... Perfect.I will say this store has an awful layout. B&Ns in the St. Louis area, where were from, have cozier layouts where you can take a book and not have people standing all over you. (Protip: most would want to sit with their backs to the wall, not other people standing over them;) In their defense, the architecture doesnt leave much room for them to do much more about...much. So there is that.Keep in mind this is stuff I noticed absently, and the chair direction bit is probably a me thing...
I asked for the location of a book and was directed upstairs. The young lady that directed me up notified someone upstairs what I was looking for and took me right to the book. Great service.
I always love going to Barnes and Noble. And I never go in expecting to purchase anything more so browse. On this day my daughter and I had some books in mind to obtain..This particular store I did not much care for. The 2 story aspect was a bit inconvenient. I didnt feel like I was able to access everything in a fluid manner. Single story Barnes and Nobles have a better Feng Shui with the layout being all there on one floor and not broken up with a second story to have to travel up to. The layout even of the 2nd story was also a bit sporadic as well. My daughter and I did find something to purchase and while she did love the the escalators it was a bit more exhausting for her and I to search for our items to purchase.
I was kicked out by Carlos because I had a sandwich from home I was eating quickly in the cafe before I went to look at my books. Told me to leave with outside food. After I told him there is no outside seating and it’s 115 degrees outside in AZ right now. He told me to go to McDonalds. I couldn’t even shop after eating he wouldn’t let me purchase a drink from the cafe so I could use a table. Prohibiting me from enjoying the environment and purchasing from the establishment. The Cafe manager yelled at me and my partner to get out from across the cafe so everyone in the building knew what was going on and made me VERY UNCOMFORTABLE!!! Horrible service!!!
The place was amazing! The people working there were nice and helpful. Carlos and Drake were able to help me out, not once, but TWICE! If you like being surrounded by books, being able to have coffee, need to get a book for required reading, or want to get some good old manga, this store is perfect for that. Also they got movies and games too.
With all of the online shopping experiences, I so rarely go to a bookstore. However, I always love stopping in to Barnes & Noble, especially the one in San Tan Village. They have an enormous selection of books, and I always find something fun to go home with. I was able to find a couple of great gifts easily when I popped in this time. One of the best parts on this trip, I was able to find a parking spot right outside the front door.
I used to avoid this Barnes and Nobles at all costs. It was probably the worst one in the Valley. Kudos for the staff for cleaning it up and turning it around, because it is extremely well organized with great selection now
It was good and clean I found alot of stuff there. That I was looking for like BTS
Great B&N layout. Like the large cafe area seating. The up-down escalators are fun for kids.My only gripe is that there wasnt a bigger sci-fi/fantasy section...Still a great place to go. Lots of food options near by makes this a great place to go mid morning then grab some lunch. Or lunch then go.Parking is kind of hectic with the traffic patterns and amount of people, not too bad, but pay attention if its your first time.
The store is cool, has 2 levels to it. Would have given it 5 stars but the person that greeted my friend and I was a real a-hole. I have chronic bronchitis and wearing a mask makes it so much worse. He demanded that I wear a mask even though I told him I had a medical condition that makes it difficult to wear one. He told me to either wear one or get out unless I can show proof that my doctor has specifically told me not to wear a mask. Who the hell carries that around on them. So we left, I can buy books elsewhere. Will not ever go back.
Its hard not to love a bookstore, but even with that being the case, this location was clean and welcoming every time I went in. Staff was still wearing masks and had signs posted saying masks were required (which I highly appreciated). The store was never crowded, so I didnt feel unsafe and they had everything I was looking for.
Good bookstore, lots of variety. But, a liiiiiiittle pricey.
Had coffee. Checked out the store. The usual Barnes and Noble
We have been regular patrons of the San Tan Barnes and Noble for well over 5 years and while our experiences have been great thus far, sadly, today was quite the opposite. Assistant Manager in Training, Magdalena’s inexperience in exhibiting managerial discretion was unfortunate. :(. (not mask related) it was a common sense issue, John, the Manager was very nice and apologized, he did state that she was still training, but her actions were unnecessary.
The best looking Barnes and Nobles that Ive ever been.
I had to ask for help finding a specific book. The person knew exactly wh say section it was in. Knowledgeable staff!
Big box atmosphere, expensive prices... Amazon is better deal
Great service, found the books Im looking for. Great energy all around. :)
Always love a good book store and Barnes and Noble is one of the best. I should work there😃
A measure of our newer economy there were far fewer books and more open space than of old
Its big and has a good selection. With a Starbucks inside.
Love Barnes and Noble. As a guy I saw inside said, this is like a toy store for adults. Excellent
Always a good place to find a perfect book!
Its a two story building and had good selection of books to look for. Clean and spacious.
I’m very disappointed in this location. My family and I have been coming for years. My husband and my 2 children were shopping yesterday and one of the employees told my husband he needs to wear a mask. My husband is medically exempt and stated that. He was continued to be harassed even by the manager. My 1 and 7 yr old just wanted to look at books. Amazon is taking over retail you guys are making it very easy for them. 🖕🏻
They have a publicly available restroom. Nice folks when I visited, too, and a clean store.
Very nice assortment of books and gifts!
This place offers a wide variety of options for books. It has 2 levels. I recommend going here for your book choices.
Going and getting an interview there was really fun, I hope I get the job
Store was well stocked and clean except they were hiding any conservative books on low shelves and have very limited stock. Current NY Times #1 best seller wasn’t even displayed. They are pushing a heavy liberal and anti America agenda. Book stores should offer all perspectives to allow people to do their own reading and research and not shove their fascist beliefs in your face.
:*(I took my daughter & neice here for a girl time outing. My daughter is bi racial and so she loves picking out books with characters that look like her.I asked an associate if she can help me find childrens books with African American girls in them and the associate told me she was unable to search for that.I find that a bit disappointing. Especially when the childrens books that are being displayed only had 1 book with an African American child in it.Other than that, I enjoy Barnes & Nobles. I love that it has a Starbucks in there. So I was able to grab her a special treat.Update: I initially gave this place 4 stars. I realized I was trying to be nice rather than honest about my experience. Its 2020, there should be children books displayed with more diversity.
Theres nothing like holding books in your hands and this is what keeps Barnes & Noble viable in an internet world. Love the smell of that paper! In addition, my 11 year-old daughter finds her fave mangas every time we go, continuing the fun tradition I used to have with my now 23 year-old daughter, who used to head straight for the kids corner to play with the train set or pick out some of her favorite books. Barnes & Noble has helped instill a love for reading!
Great selection and nice place to hang out and read books. I just wish there were a smaller independent book store around as I like to support those guys.
They have several classic and new titles on sale for $8 each. Good deals.Place is clean and doesnt feel crowded. It felt like a safe and fun shopping experience.
Great selection and they have coffee ☕wow what a treat
Best place to get books
Nice employees very laid back place to shop
As other brick and mortar stores close down, its nice to still have a place to visit and cruise isles upon isles of bookshelves. If these stores disappear then whats left for but libraries that arent in the business of selling new books. Being able to visit a Barnes and Nobles store is a completely different experience compared to online shopping. They have comfortable, large stores with the ability to roam and explore much more than in an edited, curated place. Yes, it pricier the other places but the store is worth the expense in our internet connected, smart device world. The future of B&N stores is precarious and its up to us to decide how many empty buildings are in our neighborhood.
More mask mongering. I was 30 feet from anyone and a staff ran across the floor to tell me to pull my mask past my nose. Maybe they should read there books on disease transmission before acussing people of doing so.
Do I recall visiting here? No. Does Google recall me visiting here? Apparently yes. I’ll slap a 4 star on that since I’ve never had a bad experience in Barnes & Noble
Not what they used to be, Too much political biassed nonsense there supposed to be a bookstore, Not a political outpost.
Good size store. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Customer service was great, both books were in stock.
Polite employees, clean store and enjoyable experience!
I love Barnes and Noble, the customer service is really good there and theres a bunch of book selection. I just bought Squirrelflights hope recently. I really liked my visit and Im satisfied... :3
You should be able to find a majority of books you wanna read or have already, and they deliver to your house if they are out of stock at the moment. I do wish that they would stock the studio ghibli items more or increase the order amount with how barren the item case usually is. And is it me or has the Manga section gotten smaller too? Hopefully it grows bigger but it depends how many other Manga readers there are. The employees are helpful too and know just about everything so thats awesome👌🏾
Data point for corporate. A surgical or cloth mask is just anti science. Would you go clean out asbestos with a surgical mask? Those particles are 5x the size of covid.
Always a amazing place to visit . I wish they had more manga though, they typically have 1-3 copy of each series and alot of them didnt have the first copy. When looking for a certain manga a worker explained they didnt specialize in comics and suggested some stores that might help showing how amazing their customer service is. Though they still have a decent selection I purchased the first copy of norigami and you can tell that they keep up on the newest copys of manga. Its a good place to go when a new copy of your favorite series comes out not as much when your trying to start a new one.
Great people there. Love the set-up.
Great place..has everything I needed..
I always love going into a Barnes and Noble. This Barnes and Noble is very clean and well stocked every time I visit. This is also my number one place to buy a deck of cards. They have a great selection of theory 11 decks, as well as bicycle decks. I would recommend checking it out next time youre at the San Tan outdoor mall.
I love to look at all the books in Barnes & Noble. The store is clean, organized, and inviting. This location has a large variety of genres and Ive never had an issue finding a book I want in stock. They also have a nice section for the kids with a huge selection and a reading area for them as well. There are greeting cards, planners, notebooks, journals, games, toys, games, and other gifts to choose from here. There are chairs and tables throughout the store so that you can sit and read or do some work. Just know that there are limited options to plug in your laptop. There is a Starbucks inside which does not accept the Starbucks app but will offer discounts if you are a B&N member. I dont generally look at music or movies at B&N so Im not sure what that section looks like. I almost always make it a point to stop in and at least browse when I go to San Tan Village mall.
Not a good experience. Staff ordered the wrong book for me, didnt apologize, said I would not be charged, but I was. Nothing felt good about this customer experience at all.
Nice environment, helpful staff
Good parking lot situation
I’ve been going for awhile now and have nothing but great things to say about Barnes and Noble. If you have stress in your life going to Barnes and Noble will relieve all that negative energy away. The people working at Barnes and Noble are always helpful. They dress professionally and have pride in what they do. I will always be impress, by the employee’s positive attitude towards the customer. I wasn’t much of a bookworm in high school, but now I spend 2 hours of my day gaining knowledge all because of Barnes and Noble. If you want friendly service when you walk in the door, relieve stress and acquire knowledge, Barnes and Nobel will provide all of those things and more.
We can and have spent hours in here just reading and chillin. We went here the day before Christmas Eve and luckly it wasnt too busy
Helpful folks work here!
Horrible hours (open while everyone is working). Taking advantage of COVID-19 to control their customers by forcing them to stand while shopping (removed chairs and tables from stores including Starbucks. They have ruined the shopping experience forever!
Books...the best entertainment ever.
I love that every single time I walk in I am hit with the smell of new books, coffee and smiling faces! Everything is kept so nice and tidy. They have all the greatest books including the latest and greatest. I highly recommend this Barnes and Noble! It’s my favorite.
I love Barnes and Noble but damn I miss their old late hours pre-covid.
Thank goodness there are still bookstores left in the world! I love this B&N so much! Huge and full of great books, toys and magazines. The Starbucks inside smells so good too. The help are very friendly and keep the checkout moving quickly. You can buy experiences like this on Amazon
The associates took me directly to the books I wanted to purchase.
The whole place is clean and smells like coffee and books, what else do you need?
Always a great selection and service.
This is one of my favorite Barnes & Noble locations.
Great location. Clean, well organized store. Very friendly staff. Good sales occasionally, which makes this one of my favorite spots to just browse. I work in the same mall so its very convenient. Ill be back
Nice and quiet so you can sit down with your book. staff are friendly and helpful. they have a cafe and there are two floors of books to peruse. much nicer than shopping online
Very organized! The staff was extremely helpful and I appreciate it!!
Amazing ! Book and coffe excelent :)
Actually, I spent the afternoon visiting with a friend over Starbucks quiche. Served hot and tasty. Have enjoyed the afternoons many times. I order a drink and ask to have it made keto. The girls are always so accommodating.
Nice store with a good selection of books magazines and games
It was one of the largest and greatest bookstore I have ever been to. Now I am telling everyone go here.It is not a waste. They have a Starbucks. They have two stories full of books and every book has something magical for them.
Had to order the book I wanted an they mailed it too me.🤔
This San Tan Mall Gilbert Barnes and Nobel is well organized. It is clean and has a huge selection of travel books, language books, best sellers, and religion books. I love that it is 2 stories! I could spend hours here!
I loved the selection, and I greatly appreciated the care that was taken to promote safety and cleanliness in the wake of covid-19. Great staff as well.
I love this store. But their book selection doesnt feel as good as other locations. I really enjoy going to their deal section and looking at the cookbooks on sale. You can get some great deals on really good cookbooks. I hope this place stays in business, because there is something so special about flipping through a book then just reading about it online and clicking buy. Looking forward to my next trip.
They have a decent selection for a variety of topics, however finding specific books in store can sometimes be difficult. However, they are always willing to order the books for you for either pick up or delivery. They do seem to usually be understaffed, but it is possible that i am just overlooking employees since they dress in typical street clothes (this is not an issue). Standing at the reference desk for help is usually the best way to get someones attention if you need specific help with an issue. The biggest reason for only giving three stars is due to the fact that their prices tend to be on the high side compared to other book stores for some items. Also, it can be annoying to have to wait a period of time for any books you may have had to order. If they have to order a specific book for you and you are able to wait, I really recommend searching Amazon first, as their prices will probably be lower (even a dollar or two is substantial over time), and the book with most likely be Prime, or even Kindle version if you do not need a physical copy of the book. Maybe over time they will slowly drop their prices of books to become competitive with other retail bookstores around the Phoenix area. It is hard to compete with book resellers such as Half Price Books or Bookmans. The stores are always extremely clean and never overcrowded. Great place to prep for quarantining.
Bookstore is pretty cool. Great selection of books. Surprised to see Kumon books for kids. This location has a Starbucks inside but, unfortunately, they dont participate in the Starbucks rewards program. Hope this changes.
Excellent place to go look for a good book and enjoy a nice coffee
Good selection and great staff
Loved it here!! Great service by all staff and good selection of books.
I purchased Where Men Win Glory : The Pat Tillman Story. I was so happy that they had it in stock because its a gift to a good friend of mine. I have the hard copy, but I wont lend it out. Lots and lots of books by every author imaginable. David Baldacci is one of my favorite authors, and I bought another of his thrillers. Its a very family-friendly environment, and I saw a lot of young people in the store. I highly recommended it.
Huge store with absolutely everything a reader could desire!
This is by far my favorite Barnes and Noble! First, because it has 2 full stories of books so the selection is broader than the others. Second, there is seating conveniently located throughout the store so that you can grab a stack of books and browse through them before deciding whether or not to buy. Third, despite being busy, it is generally pretty quiet, always a must for a book store. Finally, the sales people are excellent. They are happy to help, but just as happy to let you browse as youd like.
A bit pricey but sometimes well worth it. They seem to usually have what cannot be found elsewhere but you will pay more for it. Their toys or oddities section is always fun to browse through as they have several unique items. Worth a look.
The book service is always great. The cafe has too good business to care about individual. I was trying to change some dollar bills and when I finally went up to the front of the long line, the girl told me that they couldnt open the cash box unless I order something and quickly dismissed me. Go next door to Fried Pie and the manager helped me to change $10.
