I was so excited to go furniture shopping at Walter E Smithe as the store came highly recommended by my family. We purchased a couch and when they came to deliver it they said it wouldnt fit. The driver noted the dimensions we should get and assured us there was no issue other than the ceiling height. We were disappointed, but hopeful wed find something that could work. We went back to Walter E. Smithe and spent an additional 1K on a two seat version of the same couch as well as a matching chair. We got the exact dimensions recommended to us by the driver. When they came to deliver the new couch, I could tell the delivery drivers werent expecting to deliver to a three story walk up. After attempting to go through the back stairs, the drivers claimed the corners of the stairs were too tight even though the previous driver noted there was no issue with the backstairs and its how weve moved all of our large furniture, including three seat couches. They then decided to try to go through the front even though I communicated to them the front stairwell is much tighter than the back. They then told me they couldnt fit the couch into the apartment. At this point I knew this was an issue with their skill level and professionalism. I then called the store and was told I would have to wait until Monday to find out about whether my refund could be approved and as of today, Tuesday, October 19, I have never received a call. I have charges on my credit card for a product Ive never received and am extremely disappointed in their lack of professionalism.

Decent quality furniture in my opinion just not for the price! Maybe I’m just in the dark with proving of furniture but there were a few items the salespeople couldn’t explain the cost vs comparable items in their store and I actually liked most of the items. It just seems here you pay more for who made it or what it’s named rather than the quality and price. Otherwise the showroom is gorgeous and I wish all furniture showrooms were like this.

Super helpful staff! HUGE selection. They have both in stock/clearance pieces and custom order stuff. We were able to get our sectional in a week, vs 6 months for ordering from just about any store. Will be shopping here from now on!!

First off, if you know how to use Google Maps/Reviews, you probably dont want to pay these prices. The entire store is showroom style which is nice, as much of the merchandise is quite beautiful....just not $400+ for a floor lamp nice.After walking about 80% the perimeter of the store, about 15-20 minutes or so, a sales clerk finally approaches and literally says, HI, my manager told me to come talk to you. My name is R**. He then walked away.

Here’s where we are at currently.We came into this location on Monday March 22nd. We’ve never been to Walter E Smithe showroom before, we typically use other furniture stores, but we been on the hunt for a special piece to complete our family room. Our designer was so amazing, she walked us through a ton of pieces, trying to help up find something that fit our style. We finally found the perfect piece and lucky us, it was available and able to be delivered Friday March 26th. We paid for the piece and $99 dollars for what this company calls “white glove service”. We left feeling confident in our purchase.Friday rolls around and we a notification of our delivery driver’s name, number and a window of 1045am to 145pm. We wait, 2pm rolls around and there is no communication about a delay or estimated delivery, so we text the driver. No response. We call the driver about 10 minutes later, we’re informed there’s a delay and it will be another hour and half. We’re understanding people, we know situations occur and things get pushed back. So we wait.330pm comes, no calls no delivery. We contact the driver, no response. We call customer service and speak to a woman named Cathy who, after some time on hold, says she also cannot contact the driver. She’ll call us back in about 20 minutes.Here’s where we begin to regret our purchase. 445pm we call again, speak to another customer service rep. She also cannot reach the driver, asks to call us back in about 20 minutes after speaking to a manager, and assures us we’ll get this figured out.530pm and now we’re calling again after no call back, call #3 to customer service if you’re keeping count. The woman explains she is at reception and needs to contact the warehouse for an update.And here we are, 6pm waiting for a piece that had a delivery window of 3 hours, a total of almost 8 hours now.The two stars are for the designer and the buying process. This delivery has taken our entire day. The saddest part is we paid $99 to sit at home and call numerous times, and still have no answer as to when we’ll get our piece. What a terrible first impression.Update-610pm, got my first call back. Driver is on his way but no one can explain why we’ve had no communication all day. Also can’t refund my delivery cost unless I call back tomorrow. Wish me luck, if it’s anything like today it’ll be another 8 hour ordeal.

UPDATE: I was informed almost every step of the way with the remaining pieces of my order and scheduled an at home delivery at no additional charge.My delivery was twice delayed. I was hoping this delay would mean my full order would be completed all at once, but I am still waiting on 2 pieces from my purchase in September. The same set I purchased remains on display at the front of the store despite being MASSIVELY back ordered. I honestly wish I had gone elsewhere because I would have had my furniture MUCH sooner. We moved in to a new house in September and went 3 months with an overflowing closet and the remainder of our clothes in boxes. I just hope the salespeople are being honest with how back ordered this set is because the salesperson I worked with MASSIVELY downplayed the delay and the number of people on the wait list ahead of me. It isnt right to push product that customers wont receive for months. I understand COVID delays, but all the other furniture I ordered for my new home had no problem getting to me in a months time.

Helpful and knowledgeable staff, however after being assured my furniture was made in the USA, turned out that is not the case. Would have (should have...) gone to another store. Purchase with caution, but I wouldnt say avoid. Also, was told my furniture was being custom made... Turns out it was 7 months old. Something to think about. If youre spending a bit more going here, you should not be mislead!

My parents have bought various pieces of furniture here over the years, and my most recent experience was with my brother-in-law, who was looking for a new couch. There happened to be a really great labor day sale going on when we came in (which we were informed of soon after walking in), and the sales lady who first approached us remained attentive and helpful without hovering over us throughout our shopping experience. We mustve flopped on every single chair and sofa, occasionally changing our minds on the one we wanted, until we finally settled on a leather La-Z-Boy sectional that was a bit above BILs tentative price point. In swooped helpful sales lady, informing us that a similar model was in clearance for half the price! Woo! Back in the hoped for ballpark price! She was great, wish her name wasnt slipping my mind right now. BTW, they have a fridge with various cold beverages and a machine that makes various hot ones! Good touch.

They had good safety measures including temp check at door and complementary masks. They have one side of store with regularly priced items and one side with outlet inventory. They have a large selection but most items were very overpriced. They had end tables that cost more than a couch at other furniture stores. We chose to go elsewhere.

Shopped at several other stores for a new sectional. Walter E. Smithe Furniture in Glendale Heights had the best selection. Great quality for the price. Andy was helpful, and knowledgeable on all the furniture he showed us.

I recently purchased a Justin King Panel Bed Frame. Bill, our associate, was able to swing us a recently returned item in order to bypass the backorder. This helped us greatly and we received our bed frame in a timely manner and for a steal of a price. The only problem with the bed was a tiny scrape which would be buffed out prior to delivery. However, upon arrival and installation, the bed frame does not feel secure. The headboard and footboard move greatly with little force applied. This presents a huge problem. When I called the service and warranty department I was told there was no warranty due to it being a clearance item. This was something I was not told and never notified of by Bill. Its beginning to feel like I was bait and switched a broken frame. Dora the warranty rep was nice enough to send a courtesy service technician out in the next week, but any repairs will not be covered.I went to walter e smith because my parents have had great customer service experience in the 20+ years of business with them. I feel betrayed by the sales rep, and hopeless in the sense of not being able to remedy the situation. Shame on you WES.UPDATE 9/17/2020: Service technician visited the home. Was here for a total of 5 minutes. I was told the bed was not right and it shouldnt have as much movement and squeaking as it did. Offered to tighten bolts but noted that wasnt the issue and left. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IS THE ISSUE. 3/4 brackets screws were stripped and unable to tighten which I had to identify on my own. Ultimately will recommend the bed needs all new hardware but this is a nightmare of a purchase and fix. Still 1/5 stars. Considering disputing the purchase.Update 10/3/2020: The WES really came through and replaced the frame. When they were taking apart the old one they noted the screws were all different, missing, or stripped. They took extra time to set up the new one correctly and trouble shoot some issues on site. 4/5 with the resolution.

First let me start by saying I am a germaphobe and in this environment its not the greatest thing to be, however I have felt so safe that they are taking this so serious!! AND I THANK YOU FOR THAT ( I have two children and also older parents ) that I could just take my time and focus on furniture and wow this place will NOT disappoint,thank you to the manager lori and my designer Andy for a stress-free environment! I was just in this store today, the second time in about a year. No one approached me, no one asked if I had questions, needed help or inquired about my visit.I did in fact find a sectional I wanted, found a fabric I was curious about and a question regarding some of their sale counter height stools. Nothing! No eye contact or assistance.I gave it a second try but had the exact same experience the first time. I sadly will not return.

We can always find high quality furniture at a fair price at.this outlet store. We have found many custom pieces and one of a kinds as well as sophisticated modern pieces.from top name companies. The show room is ecclectic as it is an outlet store so you can take your time and have fun looking for the right piece of furniture. Associates are knowledgeable but not overbearing, at.least with us.

I purchased a sofa from Walter E. Smithe Furniture and I could not be more pleased with the results. I worked with the designer Brittany Mikolajczky, she was young, energetic, and very talented in her profession. She showed me a variety of sofas and fabrics and with her assistance I think I purchased the best looking durable sofa for my family. The entire experience was quiet delightful. A manager would call me every other week letting me know the status of my sofa all the way down to the time it would be delivered. Lastly, the deliver guys was wonderful!

I cant say enough nice things about designer Kim Schaible. She has helped me furnish my own house and also my mothers house. She listens to what the customer wants and is so knowledgeable about space planning and overall design that the final product looks effortless yet stylish. I would highly recommend Kim for sales and/or design. My first stop is always Walter E. Smithe because of Kim.

Had a great experience at Walter E Smithe Glendale Heights. I worked with Amy and she was so helpful and patient while I tested a lot of couches & chairs. I ended up with a great leather couch and a custom fabric chair. I highly suggest visiting the Glendale Heights store because they have an awesome mix of clearance items and custom options!

My Sister just bought a house, purchased most of her furniture at W.E.S. and is extremely happy. I was with her during all the process so when I had to buy a piece of furniture myself, I knew exactly what I wanted and where to go.I leave in Chicago and buying a buffet that was a floor item at the Naperville Showroom so I called the store to inquire about the piece condition. Jenna Cionko picked up the phone call and Im so glad she did! Her professionalism and dedication were amazing. So much so that I ended up asking Jenna if she could also find a coffee table to go with the buffet. Jenna took photos of the available options. Sent them by e-mail and afterwards she helped me deciding the best option by phone. It was the first time ever that I bought a piece of furniture (or anything else by that matter) without looking at it, but Jenna was so knowledgeable and thorough that I had no doubts about it. And Im extremely happy with my buffet and coffee table.The order process was easy and quick. Regarding the delivery, since I leave in a condo building and work out of town, there was a very limited window for delivery but W.E.S. managed to accommodate my schedule. The delivery went without problems with the driver calling 30 minutes before saying he was on its way.Dedicated and knowledgeable Professionals and Costumer oriented service make Walter E. Smith my favorite furniture store. I definitively recommend it to everyone and if you are lucky, ask for Jenna to advise on your choices. You will not regret!Maria
