Great place to come! My 13 year old loves it here and is in to vinyl and music from my generation so I love to bring her. The staff is always super helpful and they have a pretty good selection. I was a little surprised at how much new CDs were still after all these years.All-in-all, a 5 star store with a great selection and great staff.

I do not recommend. Record got lost in the mail, waited over a month for it. When I contacted them they became unresponsive prompting me to open a USPS and PayPal case. They refused to refund so I had to escalate. Only shop here if you enjoy plenty of hassle. Update. Since the owner had the audacity to come up here and challenge my review, had the audacity to reveal all kinds of personal identifiable information and yet despite all of which he said, my package still has been on the lam for over a month now and they still refused to do a hassle free return. I opened a USPS case two weeks ago. Ive just escalated to PayPal. A very poor experience indeed. Again, only shop here if you like hassle. Did I delete my Discogs account and did it prevent me from reaching them on Discogs, absolutely. Hence, thats what happens when you close an account. Nonetheless they were notified promptly via their email address and there has been substantial, significant hassle associated with this order. Its not my fault that they dont monitor their PayPal email address. There is not more going on as the owner claimed. The only thing going on here is an uncooperative, angry record store vendor, and the hassle that comes with dealing with said individual.

My son is 11 and loves collecting vinyl and loves music. He walked in and an employee named Benji did an amazing job making him feel welcomed and helped him find anything he needed. He is now on the frequent buyers program and will be stopping by again often! Support local Independent record shops!! Highly recommended

Lots of cool stuff, but you might not find the album youre looking for. You also have to leave your backpack with the cashier if you bring one. Still a wide array of cool music and stuff to find though.

Found the Abbey Road album here a lot cheaper than if I would’ve bought it online. They have a LOT of really good new and old artists here and i would’ve bought more if i could’ve 😅

I think that Down In The Valley, is an awesome independent record shop, they also carry, (most), other stuff, that similar, like minded folks, commonly use. The common, ok, good, and great things, that we all enjoy. This place also specializes in hard to find, out of print, rare music, tapes, vinyl, (and more), to at least keep ME impressed, and to keep coming back. They also sell other hard goods, as well. Always listen to your elders, because they, (we), have lived it, and know what is best! Nice!

I purchased a record online and the description was for a MONO album. I received a stereo copy with just one bonus track in mono. I returned and asked for the correct album but instead they refunded me and deducted the shipping cost and a “replacement fee” so it was only a partial refund. They are obviously not interested in return customers....only burning bridges. Flame on 🔥 🔥 🔥

I dont know If theres an abundance of theft there now or what but Ive been going here since I was a kid in the early 90s. Brought my wife and 2 year old in for the first time and they asked to take our baby bag. No biggie. Here you go. They proceeded to imitate looking at cds while following my wife around. It became evident they were watching closely for some reason. When youre in your 30s and you have plenty of money to shop, its discouraging to be profiled the way we were.

Great variety of CDs, Vinyls, cassettes, posters, and other cool collectable band items. They also carry astrology/zodiac rocks and stuff if your into that. 5/5

One of the bigger Down of the Valleys in town. It has a larger selection of records and all your Down In The Valley goods.

I realize theres probably a lot of younger people that go here and steal but Im grown and I really didnt appreciate the literal and very obvious hovering being done over me. Otherwise the girl at the front counter was really sweet and knowledgeable and I appreciated that.

I use this store for RSD events, I like the way they run the sale, check-in and text queueing keeps everything organized and they always have a lot of RSD selections so I can get all or most of the records on my list, the prices are fair and the staff is helpful and friendly.

The Golden Valley location is great for records, DVDs and CDs. They have a selection of collectibles as well. The staff is friendly, the selection is good and the prices are competitive. I like the ease of access to get to the store as well as the easy parking. Personally I could do without the incense or the medical section but thats just me.

I have been shopping here for years and I love all the different items they sell as well as the music variety they have. The staff are helpful and were available for any questions I had. I like how every time I come in there seems to be something new or different. I have also learned about new bands from the music they play in the store as well. Great place to shop.

I went to Down in the Valley today and encountered an employee that sure knows how to make a customer feel welcomed.I noticed there were a few people gathered around the counter so I walked through a music aisle to circle back towards the counters from the other side so as to be able to maintain proper social distance. Right after walking past the music section counter their beam full of witty refrigerator magnets caught my eye so I stopped to look at them.I am not sure what I had done to raise suspicions as I hadn’t been inside the store for more than 30 seconds nor had I touched a single item.Nevertheless an employee promptly went from behind the music counter and stood near me.By standing there with his arms crossed and repeatedly glancing over at at me he made it clear he was there to watching me.I asked him if he worked there to which he matter of factly responded “yes I do” then looked away. I then asked how much the magnets cost and he told me the price is on the back of them. I picked one up and saw it was only $3.99 which I thought was a good deal and would have gladly purchased one but it was so uncomfortable with him overtly hovering over me that I didn’t want to take the time to pick one out and instead just gave up and went right up to the counter for what I came for and got out of there.

As far as new and used records go prices are high at DITV. Online prices at sites like Discogs are much cheaper and more convenient. Not really sure why these places dont price in a way to incentivize the consumer to shop there. Myself and other record buyers I know just shop online sites because prices are much cheaper. I go into DITV but hardly ever buy anything even though I would if prices were cheaper than Discogs, but sadly they are not.

Nice place, everyone had masks and distanced which I appreciated. I wasnt sure exactly what I was looking for at first and was just kind of browsing and it felt like the employees were following me around and kept stopping to ask me if I needed anything. Certainly felt like I was being suspected of shoplifting. Made me feel obligated to buu something even if I had ended up not wanting anything.Fortunately they had a great selection of items and I found some excellent stocking stuffers for my boyfriend and some fun stuff for myself. I definitely plan on returning because of their commitment to covid safety and great selection, but only gave 4 stars because I wasnt a fan of being treated like a potential criminal. But I know lots of people do shoplift so Im not crazy upset, it just wasnt a 5 star experience.

Wide selection, reasonable market prices. They distinguish local music in the LP section with colored dividers. They list some records on Discogs, and offer free in-store pickup when purchased online through the website.

I was extremely impressed with Down in the Valley on my first visit there this past weekend. The amount of items of all varieties they have is almost overwhelming. Their Vinyl collection is great, they have a ton of fun other accessories and items as well. I ended up buying a new vinyl, a poster, and a fun magnet. If youve been to any of the huge name shops like electric fetus its kind of like that except a way more diverse selection across the board. If it werent such a long drive from my house this would probably be my primary vinyl/music shop, or the first place Id go to look for gifts for any of my fellow nerdy friends.

Unique shop tucked away into a standard strip mall along 55 in golden valley. This store has a wide variety of memorabilia and merchandise spanning a wide array of categories including but not limited to music vinyls and apparel, pop vinyl and cartoon/video game/TV collectibles, board games, recreational smoking tools/equipment, and the list goes on.The crowning piece on what makes this store so enjoyable to go to is the knowledgeable and friendly staff who will always help you find exactly what you are looking for and if not at least be able to point you in the right direction.

Cool store to come browse but be warned buying used CDs and expecting them to work on newer equipment. Came in to buy a favorite band but did not work in my current CD player. Did not accept the return, only exchange.

Think Spencers, with music, but even cooler and with a wider selection. Records and CDs plus equipment for record players, speakers, and novelty music items. Lots of nerd swag, dirty humor items, and a lot of unique stuff that would make great gifts or accessories. Incense, mugs, magnets, just all sorts of things. Definitely worth checking out, especially for hippies, nerds, and music fans (all with each I identify, so I was in heaven here).

This is my friendly neighborhood record store, and I could spend hours here. Their prices are often more reasonable than some other stores around the city, and they have a lot of other fun stuff besides the music. The staff is also friendly and helpful.

I came with questions, and the staff member I spoke with happened to own what I was looking to purchase and had a lot of excellent tips on what I should look for.
