Whatever you need to get outside to hike, climb, ski, run or have fun. They have it and the experienced staff to guide you. Bought my second AT setup from them and had a custom boot fit this year. Time well spent. Tried on several boots and found one that was pretty comfy out of the box but the shell needed a bit of stretching to get my platypus bill shaped flippers to stop screaming after 20 min. Now just waiting for snow!

A fantastic selection of gear meets incredible sales expertise - these folks are amazing! I am trying to enter into the world of alpine touring and while I have lots of downhill experience, the world of AT is a totally new concept to me. Have had nothing but awesome experiences every time. Welcoming staff with a wealth of knowledge and never once been pressured into a sale. I purchased alpine touring boots at Bentgate Mountaineering in Feb 21 and was really pleased with the experience. My boot fitter, John I believe, was patient with me and really thorough in taking foot measurements. I didnt feel pressured to purchase boots nor select a particular model. After iterating through trying on several different brands and sizes of boots, I settled on the initial Dynafit boot & size that was recommended to me.I also had bindings mounted on my new skis while at the store and it was done while I waited.

They did a good job fitting my wife for ski boots and also had a quick turnaround for binding mount and tune-up. Helpful generally without being pushy. If they dont have what you want in the store they wont necessarily work hard to get it in for you.

Have generally had really good experiences. The other day, an employee accidentally left a board on top of mine, which managed to leave a mark on it. The employee was quick to accept responsibility and was nice enough to offer a discount on some services. They even managed to basically get the mark completely off afterwards. Overall great customer service and as always, the selection is great.

Because of I had an urgent need for a new tent. I had been eyeing a Hilleberg Enan for a while and couldnt find it anywhere online that could get it to me on time. Bentgate had it in stock and did a fantastic job with customer support, answering my questions about the tent, getting it shipped out quickly, and rescuing my trip. I have been a customer for years and the expertise and assistance in finding the perfect gear from rock climbing, to bikepacking and splitboarding is second to none. Sick Backcountry gear but I must say their customer service is an absolute joke. I have been trying to get a boot buckle replaced that broke on my first day out for over a year. My attempts to get them to have Atomic send a replacement buckle have been futile, excuses and delays every time. So I contacted REI and they stated that it is a common situation and they would get me a replacement in no time. I really like this place so Im reluctant to give a negative review, but it has been pretty frustrating working with them. I bought premium gear that I expected to work and now I have to pay REI to have them fix it instead of filing a warranty claim. If you do buy gear there, PRAY you dont have issues with it, because its unlikely you will get much help. Sadly, I wont be a customer of theirs anymore :(

Been going here for years and was always pretty happy with advice and gear from the people working here, however I just bought new bindings from Bentgate and left my new skis with them to be mounted and I got my setup back with a couple noticable scratches on the topsheet of skis, thought my DIN was set above 12, and was having trouble getting brakes to lock up in tourning mode. Technician helped me resolve all of these issues over the phone with so much patience and not an ounce of condescension. Thanks for the help.

Bent Gate is the best! They have everything youd expect for hiking, backpacking, camping, climbing, and snow sports, along with a healthy selection of outdoorsy clothes. Everyone working here is friendly and knowledgeable. As a climber myself, I love gabbing with the other climbers that work here for their 2 cents on gear. I also appreciate that the employees here let you know what they know most about, and have no problem directing you to someone more knowledgeable on your topic if need be. Comparatively to other outdoor shops both big and small, Ive also noticed Bent Gate has the best selection of cams in different brands and sizes consistently in stock. BD, Metolius, DMM, totem, and Wild Country. Not a bad thing to say, if youre into anything outdoors, youll find something to peruse here!

I ended up having to swap my original boot for one that was going to work better in the long run - which they gladly did. Will certainly be referring folks to them in the future, without question!

The customer service at this place was amazing. Forget about the awesome gear and my gear addiction. They have it all, but that’s beside the point. I want to share my experience. My climbing Guru was going to take me ice climbing for the first time and so I rented all the gear and was able to pick it up the night before and return it to days later for the same charge, which I thought was pretty impressive.First off I thought the price was super reasonable and expected it to be a lot more to rent boots crampons and ice tools. By the time we got to the ice wall, it was not climbable. Too sketchy. So we went immediately back to the store and they actually offered to refund my money. That is rare these days. These will be my go to guys for all of my mountain gear needs from now on. Thank you so much for being so awesome!

Great boot fitting experience. I am a new skier so I had no idea what to expect, but they got me settled with boots, got the fit, heat molded them, set me up with the right insoles, and adjusted my bindings to fit the new boots. Ill definitely be coming here for all my skiing needs.

Best Experience Ive had at a ski shop hands down. All the staff is extremely friendly and experienced. I havent been able to find someone to fit my ski boots correctly until I came here. Jordan was awesome he spent a ton of time with me one on one helping me size AT boots after experiencing extreme pain in my current boots I had just bought elsewhere and were fitted completely incorrectly. I was able to take some time and micro adjust the boots in the store to make certain that the new boots I was going to buy did not have the same problem as my old ones. He was able to fit me for the new boots, and get the liner and the insoles heat molded and my ski bindings adjusted to the new boots same day while I was in the store. Ive never experienced such great customer service from anywhere. Everyone here makes you feel important and will not give up on you and will work with you until you are satisfied. Really awesome place and I look forward to coming back for future skiing and climbing equipment.

Over response to Covid and appears to be trepidacious when an older man enters their store. On top of that did not have what I was looking for. A simple set of quick release straps for a back pack. I will choose ANY other store before I return.

I went into Bent Gate for a tele mount. They made a substantial mistake on the mount, but then redeemed themselves. Long story short, the management stepped in and rectified a not so great situation for both parties. I left as a happy customer, and will continue to give them my business. Good people, and good customer service.

Just got my Western Mountaineering Terralite from Bentgate. OMG what a beautiful, perfect bag this is! Total quality materials and premium down, light as a freakin feather, made in the USA, name of the person that stitched it on the side. Why cant all gear be like this?And why cant all Mountaineering shops be like Bentgate? They gave me a killer new customer discount. They were on it from the beginning, shipped the bag the same day I placed my order, with great communication along the way. Oh and did I mention all this great service during a pandemic? I had a small, obscure piece of a Dynafit binding that broke on me. Bent Gate had the piece in stock and fixed it in 15 min. Meanwhile, the sales staff were helpful and attentive without being overbearing. They were just friendly. Last night I stopped by Bent Gate to look for shoes. I arrived and they were getting ready to close for the night. I met Matt at the door and asked if if he had a certain shoe in my size and if he did, I would come back tomorrow and pick it up. Instead of telling me the store was closed, he invited me in and went to check.Unfortunately he did not have the shoe in my size. He offered a different shoe and turned out it was a great fit. While I was there he was very informative as to what I would need to start climbing. Seeing that there were items on sale for really good prices, I asked if he could put things on hold and I would come the next day to pick them up (after all they were now closed and I was sure they wanted to go home after a long day at work).He told me not to worry, that if I wanted to purchase the items now, I could. This is where I met Greg. Both Greg and Matt took the time to explain all the different types of gear I should look for and what made one better than the other. I ended up getting a plethora of equipment in order to start climbing.I have to say that the service I received from these two fine gentleman was exemplary and I have no problems with sending anyone who wants outdoor gear to this store. I’ve been in the store a few times before and the only thing that really bothered me was them not being open on a Saturday.I went in this past Monday to buy splitboarding boots and a new pair of skins. Normally on stores like this, staff is decently attentive as the gear they carry is on the technical side. It seemed the staff could care less about answering questions and were too busy with other tasks not related to customer service.Although I had to get the boots to try on myself, I did find my size and would have purchased the 600 dollar pair of boots and 180 dollar skins at their establishment but instead will purchase online.Maybe if the store was open on Saturdays, the busiest shopping day of the week; they could afford to hire more/better staff and not lose out on sales due to poor customer service.

To the best of my knowledge, one of only a few stores in the country that sell the best gear for the biggest mountains. Im lucky to have this nearby, most people cant go to a store and actually see this stuff before buying it. Great prices too.

A lot of great equipment from camping to hiking to climbing and snowboarding. Their prices were phenomenal and the person we spoke to about split boards was beyond helpful. I will definitely be back to pick some stuff up for backpacking.

I want to love this shop, but they carry very few items in very few sizes. Today I was looking for hiking boots. They only carried womens size 7-9 and mens size 9-11. I wear 9.5 in womens / 8 in mens. Not that uncommon of a foot size, but too uncommon for Bent Gate I guess.

This is a good local gear shop with a great selection of climbing gear, and a very knowledgeable and expert ski tuning department. Im surprised by some of the bad reviews here; Ive never had anything but good experiences with their employees whether it was for climbing gear, climbing shoes, new ski boots, ski binding mounts, tunes, etc. Ive come here a lot, and have always left the store happy and well taken care of. Id definitely recommend you visit this locally-owned gear shop before heading to a big box store. If you want a great selection of technical equipment and a very knowledgeable staff, shop local.

Bent Gate has provided customer service on par with the best I have ever experienced.Every time I walk in the shop the employees provide a warm welcome. I’ve only been to Bent Gate for their ski shop, but I imagine the service spans across all of their equipment. Any time I have come in with ski problems, they explain anything that may have happened and how they can fix it. Their turn around time has always been amazing. Most importantly for some, their shop prices are always extremely reasonable. Though, most importantly for me is that those in their shop clearly have a passion for the sport and a high level of experience.Bent Gate has earned themselves a lifetime customer.

I always have a great experience at Bent Gate! Today I brought in a pair of skis and bindings to get mounted. I drove out to Golden just because I know I wont have to worry about anything when I take them here. Greg (the ski tech) was really helpful answering all my questions and even measured what the standard mounting points were so I could get exactly what I wanted. I also decided to get the new ski tune and he went over everything that was being done and answered all my questions no matter how detailed. The turn around time is awesome and he let me know it would be done by the end of the day or the next and that they would give me a call. The staff here is super knowledgeable and when your getting nice AT bindings put on nice skis I wouldnt take them anywhere else.

I was staying in the hotel across the street, walked over and asked about a backpack for long weekend trips. Guy went right over to the Osprey packs, said he personally used those and that they had done a great design and construction job. He pulled out the display stuffing on one that looked the right size, dropped in three 10 lb sacks of sand, and had me try it on: perfect fit. I told him I was staying in the hotel, and he suggested buying it online, which I did and it was on sale, and shipping was free. Excellent place with great service.

Best climbing and mountaineering store I have ever been to. Largest supply of protection and ropes I have ever seen in one place. Great selection of cold weather gear including bibs, pants, jackets and gloves. The staff members I encountered are friendly and knowledgeable without being pushy or condescending. Prices seem competitive at least for the items I looked at. All of that and located In a nice town that seems to have pride in every aspect. This is one great place.

Ive been dealing with these guys for years. Theyre a small local shop that deals in high-end outdoor equipment at or below MSRP. Im always impressed with their sport and trad climbing knowledge, and they have an impressing selection of climbing shoes. Their ski shop does nice work, although it gets pretty busy back there in the winter so I set my expectations accordingly. Overall, Ive always had good customer service. If someone perhaps didnt have the expertise to address my needs, they always found the person who did. And you can tell these people all enjoy getting out there and theyre usually happy to chat you up about recent adventures.I also noticed theyve been hosting a lot of guest speakers, talks, and small seminars in recent years. Theyre usually fairly interesting so Ive been dropping in on them when I can. Way to support local events, Bent Gate!

I own a small shop based in Summit County...had a customer special order a ski from us who needed it ASAP and needed an AT binding moved from his old ski to the new one on super short notice because he was taking a ski trip to South America the same week. I didnt have a mounting jig for the binding in question, so I was calling around and got all kinds of crappy responses from other shops. I called Bentgate the same morning the ski was supposed to arrive, with the customer arriving from Steamboat about 2 hours prior to closing, and they hooked it up! No BS, no industry back-scratching, no moaning, they just made it happen and everyone was happy! Seriously the most legit core shop on the front range, and its not even close!

Bent Gate Mountaineering has become my favorite store in the world. They have the high-end gear that you dont find at REI. I am gearing up for a month-long expedition into the Andes Mountains to climb Mt. Aconcagua. These guys know this equipment thoroughly because they own it and use it themselves.
