This place was absolutely amazing. I was traveling home to Los Angeles from Denver when my tie rod came loose after all the potholes I hit. Alex welcomed me like family and was so sweet since he was also from Los Angeles. Ro was nice and quick and fixed my problem ASAP. I couldn’t be more grateful for these guys. They were friendly, efficient, and honest. Absolutely everything you can ask for. They also explained everything they were doing and helped me out with travel tips for my way home so I stayed safe. Really genuine, caring staff that wants to help out any way they can.

Katz Automotive is awesome! I had a Jeep die on my road trip, water pump went out and overheated, and had to find a shop in Grand Junction to limp it to, which is never a good situation to be in. First shop I stopped at said they could not work on it (booked out solid), and referred me to Katz. Alex and team took my Jeep in Labor Day when everyone was jammed packed and booked, Alex didn’t even hesitate. They got it all sorted. They really care about all of their customers and treated me and my family like their own. I got the Jeep all fixed up and they did an awesome job making sure it was good to go with quality work, great communication, and fair pricing. This shop is managed by a Mexican gang member/ex convict from California.Alex the mechanic broke a fuel line and refused to fix it. He demanded that I pay him in full, sign a contract saying that the fuel line was already broken, and sent me away with an unstoppable stream of fuel coming out of my truck. And he demanded that I pay him in cash, which was not a part of the deal.I called the police and they told me that this is not the first time that this has happened. I pretty sure no one has left a review like this for fear of violence.

I had some front end work performed on my truck in Arizona prior to attempting my trip to Denver. Well as you could probably imagine, I didnt make it all the way to Denver prior to some significant issues presenting themselves. It turns out that the shop in Arizona did not tighten everything back up to specs after I had my upper control arms replaced, nor did they put the cotter pins back into the castle nuts to hold everything from coming apart while driving on the interstate. Additionally, some substandard brake work was performed as well. Alex, Ro and Bill were very friendly and competent in repairing my vehicles loose nuts, cotter pins, brake lines and finishing all that off with an alignment for the remainder of my trip to Denver. Made it there safely because of their professionalism. They were VERY reasonably priced and showed true care in ensuring that we got back on the road in a safe vehicle.Thank you for a job well done, YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alex saved our butts! I’m a musician on tour/a family road trip from New Orleans and our break and running lights went out on the van. I had called all over town and everyone including Alex was booked solid for two weeks. He told us to bring the van over anyway. He looked for the wiring issue between appointments and on his lunch break because he knew we were stranded and got us back on the road. He’s a great mechanic but even more an all around good dude. Stay away! These people don’t know what they are doing! Alex the mechanic broke my fuel line. Decided he didn’t want to touch it and threatened me if I didn’t pay and leave with a Leaking fuel line.He forced me to sign a waiver, made me pay in cash and forced me to pay him for a damaging my truck.

This place is AMAZING!!!! I am from out of town and my car broke down. Alex and his staff helped me SO much and went out of their way to come get me and get my car fixed on a Friday (late afternoon) on a holiday weekend!! This is 5 star service and truly caring individuals. I highly recommend!!

Alex and Ro were absolutely wonderful.We were here in Colorodo for fire severity. Our breaks went out on our engine Ford 550. Nobody else in grand junction would take us in. Ro immediately assessed our breaks and said it was unsafe and got us in to be fixed. They helped us again for an oil change and tire rotation without question. Brought a truck here today for a pre-buy inspection, they were completely thorough and honest and said HELL NO. Saved us a lot of money in the long run.

Alex helped us navigate through a complicated warranty/insurance repair process that ended up being a major repair. He went to bat for us and handled all of the communication and negotiation that was needed to get the job done right. I appreciated his professional manner of helping us through all the steps of this process and I am very satisfied with the work that he and their crew did. Alex was very helpful in keeping us informed and I would definitely return to Katz for any automotive questions or repairs.

I went to this mechanic after my van broke down outside of Grand Junction. Alex told me they could get it fixed in 3 days potentially and they have decent shop rates so I took my van there. After it was in the shop, Alex was rude and unprofessional every time I wanted an update making it seem like I was wasting his time. He loved to rub his 10 years experience in whenever he could. After 2 weeks of waiting, he said my van was ready after 3 test drives, but when I went to pick it up there was serious issues with the transmission. They made me pay the initial inspection fee, but only tried to crank the engine and did none of the other things listed. On my final receipt it said that I was told there were transmission issues before they did work, which was a lie. I ended up having to take it to the dealership across the street and they let me know that whoever installed the engine forgot to secure 3 connections to the transmission and it caused an electrical issue where my van wouldnt start. I had a terrible time with this place and working with Alex was like pulling teeth. I would never recommend this place or go back again. Alex told me I better give them a good review since I under bid the work, but it ended up costing thousands more than the original quote and still had serious issues when I picked it up.

I took my 77 Chevy van in several times while finishing the camper conversion I was doing. Everytime, Alex told me exactly what he could do, how much it would cost, and an average time frame. When I had questions or concerns about the van he would listen and discuss all facets of the issue with me, making sure I understood what needed to be done.Most impressive though was when he called me to let me know that he was concerned about some things and wanted to run so additional tests. When I informed him that unfortunately my budget wouldnt allow me to afford the needed tests, he said he would see what he could do. When I went in to get the van, not only had he fixed exactly what I needed to have fixed; he ran the test anyway and didnt charge just for the peace of mind in knowing the engine was solid. THEN his tech offered to realign my steering wheel for free. Which I was very greatful for.I recommend this shop for any vanlife,nomad or travellers who pass through grand junction. He is the most honest mechanic I have ever encountered. And doesnt make you feel stupid for not knowing certain things. 11/10 stars!

This was by far the best automotive repair experience Ive ever had. Within minutes of coming into the shop, my car was already in the garage being looked at and the repairs were very quick. Alex was very friendly and was very honest about what he could do and even went above and beyond to help me out. While my car was being serviced, Bill was very resourceful about the area and where to stay for the night since I am traveling cross country. I feel very lucky that I happened to stumble across this shop. I wish I wasnt just traveling through town and could make this location my go-to for any future maintenance or repairs!

Came in off the highway needing immediate repairs. Katz got me in quickly and was able to do the repairs that I needed to get home. They did charge a steep diagnostic fee, which they were willing to roll into the repairs but then complained bitterly about at every point past that that I tried to hedge on the price. I think it ended up being relatively fair, but as a woman it is always hard not to feel like youre being taken advantage of and this was no exception. Probably a solid choice if you are needing immediate repairs off the highway-- especially if you can get a price check from, say, an experienced mechanic brother and a little back and forth on the absolute minimum repairs you need to get home to a mechanic you trust.

I drive an old Mercedes diesel that a lot of mechanics hesitate to work on and when they do they usually charge an arm and a leg for it, and in my experience Katz Automotive not only has done excellent work but have also been very cost effective and very helpful along every step of the way. Katz has been my go to place to get my car worked on for years and I will continue to do so indefinitely.

Brakes started making a grinding noise during my drive from Maine to California. Was 30 min outside of grand junction, spoke with Alex who saved the trip by getting back on the road same day. Entire experience was professional and courteous. Would be my permeant shop if I loved here!

These guys are great! They were able to get me in quick and diagnose my problem and gave me very fair options on how to proceed. Alex was fun to talk with and was able to suggest some different options for how to handle my repairs that made me feel like I could trust this business. Auto problems are the last thing I want to deal with during a cross country road trip, but they made the situation so much more bearable and helped to get me back on my way. Grateful to be able to find automotive businesses that can be trusted in a pinch. Ive had bad experiences before with other shops Ive never been to, and Katz was the total opposite. Friendly staff and the most comfortable auto shop waiting room Ive seen. Ill definitely be back if I find myself broken down in Grand Junction again!

These guys are a godsend. I was stuck on the side of the road after an oil leak. Headed to California so was really needing speedy amazing service. Ive been to this place a few times. My initial impression is theyre not the cheapest but they seem thorough and do good quality work. This last time I went I was very disappointed. I took my 4Runner in for an oil change, ratting sound in steering column and I think I told them about a noise that could be suspension or sway bar bracket. I got charged $56 for a complete brake inspection I never asked for! I got charged $130 for them to deal with my grill guard! The grill guard I have never had a problem with and after they fixed it another shop said the bolts at the frame were loose and tightened free of charge (how refreshing). So in the end I paid almost $300 for an oil change! HUGE RIP OFF! They called to try and make it right, but didnt try to hard because I would have still paid about $150 for an oil change. They Lost My Business; please save yourself and find another shop.

I recently had to drive my vehicles cross country. I encountered some bad roads and brought it in to Katz because I thought I needed an alignment. Upon inspection, it turns out the alignment was fine. It was pointed out that I did have some frontend wear, but that it was not critical at this point. Alex, the service manager, was very friendly and professional, and explained what they found, along with a quote for the repair. I would feel comfortable with bringing my vehicles here for any service or repairs.

Came in from out of stare and got our converted van suspension fixed, same day. Alex was very friendly and would recommend this shop.

Paid for a transmission service, just to get back home to a puddle of transmission fluid. They did not tighten bolts to transmission pan. Highly do not recommend using this place unless you want to pay, just to have to take it to an adequate automotive shop after.

This place was AWESOME was on a road trip and they got me in and out in under an hour! Alex really helped me out.

Katz is one of the rare ones that you can really trust. I have taken my car to them several times and they are friendly as can be and are always honest with ya. They never look to take advantage of you, they do an awesome job communicating with you and shooting ya straight on the issues of your car. Can always trust their judgement.

Ive never left a review on anything like this, but our experience with Katz Automotive was so awesone, I just have to take the time to do it. We were in our truck pulling our camper on a much anticipated vacation around the western U.S. this past September when our ignition would randomly not start. We were a thousand miles from home and had no idea who to take it to that would be good, get the job done in a timely manner, and above all, honest. We found all these qualities in Katz Automotive. We drove 3 hours to get there without turning off the ignition. When we got there, we were out within an hour and a half and on our way to finish our vacation. Katz automotive is a great place to take your car. I went in for a routine rear shock replacement, and they ended up finding that the water pump bearings were bad. They replaced the rear shocks, got my pump replaced, and got me on the road in a day, and in time to get to work which was two hours away. They were fair with what they charged, and they gave me a ride while my car was being worked on. Thanks guys, Ill be back

One of the first things he said was”Sir I’m a Christian” well I told him what I thoughtThe problem was and he still charged me the extra 100$ to troubleshoot, he could have at least absorbed it into the overall cost. It’s called greed. Money’s the root of all evil. Christians don’t rip people off. I’m a Christian. $600+ dollars for a new fuel Pump in my ford ranger. Save your money and go to Muellers

** ALERT TO GRAND JUNCTION CO CUSTOMERS **You need to avoid this shop (KATZ AUTOMOTIVE) like the plague - they are way overpriced and really pad the billing - they continue to talk about how honest they are (Alex - front desk) and then go out of their way to overcharge (had to pay for some the labor twice) - be advised and move on - very dissatisfied customer no longer - would like to give negative number rating (but that’s not an option)

I was driving across the country when the heater core cracked on my Jeep near Grand Junction. I knew replacing this would be costly and time consuming. Initially they said they wouldnt even be able to schedule this type of repair for 4-5 days. Instead they offered to bypass the heater core to stop the radiator fluid leak. They made the fix, replaced the fluid I lost, and had me on the road again within 40 minutes for less than $80. Bill and Jeff are innovative and honest and really helped me out. I wish I had an honest mechanic shop like theirs in my own home town.

A bit late in getting to review but I wanted to share with everyone, what a great group of people work/run Katz!We had a mysterious problem causing our AC to stop cooling on a brand new sprinter van. We pu in SLC headed back to AR made it to GJ w/no AC in heat of Summer.It was late afternoon when we happened on Katz these guys stayed to after 6pm trying to find the problem and did a fine job at fixing our AC! They never gave up when they could have just said we don’t know what is causing it and closed the doors on normal business hrs.Huge gratitude to these men! Thank you for taking care of us!
