While en route to Grand Junction from Denver, part of a long road trip, I realized my car needed to be looked at for air-conditioning and brake issues. I called ahead to find a place to have the work done the following day. Three other shops told me they were booked up for 2 weeks. (For mechanical work!!!???) Owner Clayton, however, told me to come in the next day at 8, opening time, and he’d take care of me. And he did - great work in 2 hours. Reasonable pricing. Highly recommend. Also met one of the mechanics, Devin (?), who said he loves working there because of his great boss. GO HERE. Tell Clayton that Nancy from TX says hi.

I came here desperate for my windshield wipers to be fixed, they were getting caught on my side mirrors. I called and got an appointment the same day, was there for less than 20 minutes and they had found the issue, fixed it and as a bonus fixed my door that rubbed the frame every time it opened. Highly recommend this place and will most definitely go back. On top of it all, the employees were super nice, and there was not a dull conversation. Go here, you will NOT regret it! 😊

I took my truck in for a leak. From the very beginning they were polite and concerned about the issue. They checked the entire engine for leaks and couldn’t find any major problems. When we went to pick it up there was no charge! In these times every penny counts and I appreciate their honesty! Thank you.

These guys really helped me when I was in a tough spot. I had a Pontiac with over heating issues and was on a time constraint. They got me right in, and while there were bumps in the road, fixed my car in a timely manner. Definitely recommend these guys. Im glad I found a new mechanic.

I discovered that I had a hole in my oil pan. I went to this family owned business and they were extremely professional and nice. He walked me through exactly what they were going to do to fix it, and told me what I would have to do to make sure the plug stayed. The entire process was made easy and I had been worrying over nothing. If you need your car fixed, these guys definitely know what theyre doing and they will make sure its done right.

For as long as I live in Colorado, Family Auto Care will be where I take my Subaru. I had an on going issue with my car that started after a Subaru dealer in Utah put a newer used motor in it. I was afraid there was an issue with that motor. I was told I shouldnt be driving it very far. Before one of my trips to Colorado, I took it into the dealer in Utah who put the second motor in for its usual servicing and was told that I shouldnt be driving it to Colorado or anywhere else... again based strictly on the diagnostic reading. So after that I rented a car for all the trips I had to make. When we moved to Grand Junction the actions of the car got worse. My dashboard would light up and it would drive like it was in a lower gear.All the places I took the car to would plug in the diagnostic tool and then tell me how expensive it was going to be to fix...until I took it to Family Auto Care(d)! He did the usual diagnostic test but he also suggested a course of action to find out what was really wrong! They didnt get past the first action where they found the culprit. Apparently during the time the second motor was being put in, the transmission was exposed and something wound up in it that didnt belong! So it has been in the transmission all this time...causing the diagnostic to show what it did. My Subaru has been running just fine ever since Family Auto Care resolved the issue! Walked in at 12:40 to get my car checked. Only employee there said all the techs were at lunch till 1pm. He said he was qualified to address my issue, but couldnt because he also was on lunch, and needed to answer the phone. Told me to come back at 1pm, or to go to Auto zone. Ever heard of customer service? Staggered lunches? Wont be coming back.

Have brought Vehicles here for several years and have always been given a fair price and work completed on time. Brought a truck back today that had died on me and discovered it was a module they had replaced about a year ago. They kept all the records for me so the module was free as it had a lifetime warranty. Pretty rare to have to have a truck towed into a shop and 2 hours later leaving with everything fine and only paying $67. I believe these guys are doing the best they can. I see a couple negative reviews on here and I think have those people never made a mistake? What I care about is people who are honest, fair and do their best. This perfectly describes Family Auto and transmission.

We were in the Ouray offroading. My rig started having problems. I called 20+ plus shops. The owner answered was friendly and not only answered my question he also asked follow up questions (the only of the 20+ shops I called) actually helped troubleshoot. I brought the rig and he had it fixed up in no time! Great customer service!!!

Fair prices and stand behind their work. I had a Ford that they kept on the road. I trust them.UpdateI think they are honest with fair prices but now I doubt I will be back. It took 3 working days but 6 days total to replace power steering pump.Took it back this morning for the 3rd time because it is still not working. Call at 2 to find out and was told they were just now looking at it. Calls back a few minutes later and they will have to keep it over the weekend again.I don’t run a business but if someone has to bring a vehicle back I would think that would be the first priority. I could not make an appointment because I picked it up at EOB yesterday only to find it was not fixed.It will be 11 days total if they get it done Monday. Missed time from work going back and forth. I tend to be a loyal customer but come on.

Mr. Thygerson was VERY Kind and Compassionate and took time from his Very Busy Day to address our transmission concerns. Because of Mr. Thygersons advice we made it to our destination in the Carolinas. May God Bless him in All he does.

Went in for an a/c evac and recharge. Was quoted over 1400.00 for repairs.Went for a second opinion, which they tried to talk me out of, 200.00 later for an o-ring and a charge. Never trust these guys.

This auto shop totally saved me as I was traveling across state. My truck’s check engine light came on and it shut down into limp mode. When they ran diagnostics many codes came up which led them to further investigation to find an O2 sensor needed replacing. The whole thing was affordable and they worked quickly and were honest and very pleasant. I would totally recommend them to anyone in Western Colorado looking for a good mechanic!

Would recommend this shop a million times! The customer service is wonderful. I had my transmission replaced on my Subaru and now I get my oil changes here because they are so nice. Its a friendly place and you never feel like they are taking advantage of you, which I have dealt with soo many other places, so this is a great find.

I took my car to this repair shop because the car started driving strangely after sitting idle for several months in the cold. The engine light, wrench, and transmission lights showed up. The car wouldnt switch gears and I felt like I couldnt drive it smoothly beyond 25-30 mph. I took the car in, but they couldnt find anything wrong with it. Somehow it sat for too long causing the warning lights to malfunction. Nonetheless, the mechanics reset the warning lights and charged us a very reasonable price for a minor repair instead of tearing the transmission apart and charging more. Much appreciated and highly recommended! If and when I need another repair, I will take my car here.

Caring and honest mechanic. Passing through town and had just accidentally cracked and punched a small hole in my oil pan earlier that morning. I was looking for a quick fix to at least slow the oil dripping til I get home to my regular mechanic. Clayton was kind and honest enough to let me know they dont do what I was looking to have done for liability reasons. He took the time to talk and learn a bit about me and what I could potentially do myself. He directed me to AutoZone with some suggestions until I had the time for a proper fix. It all worked out thanks to the time and kindness Clayton offered for free in place of the proper service I didnt have time to wait for.

Excellent service! Fixed my 5 speed sensor extremely fast and I have had not problems with it since. Customer service was great they were all nice, helpful, and ready to help me.

I have taken my cars to Family Auto for the past couple of years. They have always been fair and reasonable with me. They identify the problem and fix it in a timely manner. I cannot remember a time where they tried to sell me something that I did not need. I would suggest making an appointment if you can because they are very busy (this is generally a sign of a good shop). I without hesitation recommend this shop to friends and family. Services I have had them do: timing belt, oil change, transmission service, front end work.

Had a water pump break down on the highway on our way back to Denver and they were able to squeeze us in right away and had us back on the road in about 2 hours. They were honest guys and also cheaper than other places nearby. Definitely recommend this shop.

If I could give negative stars I would. Brought vehicle to get main seal replaced and within 2 days it was leaking again. Brought it back in to find out they didnt tighten the bolts in right order. Pick it up just to have the clutch not be adjusted properly, barely able to drive it. Get that fixed and did a once over just to find the transmission cooling system wasnt even bolted down. They have failed multiple times to fix the vehicle in a way that makes me feel comfortable letting my elderly mother drive it. Save your time and money and go somewhere else.

The last of the family auto shops. No gimmicks, no bait and switch, no changing the story to fit the bill. Just honest shop that wants you to get back on the road safely.

Wile on vk my transmission went I had it at a shop in moab that was trying to change me 2500 more then family auto did. I can not speak more highly of the ower clayton he was very nice gave me diagnose and did not take advantage of us as we where out of state like the last shop tryed to. the repair where done fast they had us back on the road enjoying our family trip thank you very much clayton and the mechanic at family auto.

While traveling on vacation with my daughter, I noticed a liquid puddle under my car. I took my car to Family Auto Care who informed me it was my radiator leaking! They helped ease my worries by explaining the steps and information, and were super friendly! They fixed the leak quickly and had us on the road again. I would recommend them to everyone!

I had troubles with a leaking rack and pinon and I took my car to these guys and they really helped out. With affordable rates and great customer service, I would recommend them to anyone in the grand valley.

I had my honda odysey fixed here and they did an excellent job. Its running better then it has since ive owned it! The prices were fair and quite a bit less than other shops I had checked with. The owner was very pleasant and willing to help in any way he could. My Van was fixed and on the road again the very next day. I was very pleased and will return business again.

While traveling on Colorados Western Slope, we needed someone to rebuild the transmission in my 3/4 ton 4WD GMC Suburban ASAP and Family Auto Care & Transmission really came through for us. They finished the job in less than a day and a half, as promised. They went out of their way to make the whole repair process as painless as possible and quickly got us on our way again. I would definitely recommend this shop.

In the short tem, my experiences were good. However, my Jeep has almost the same problems it had 2 years ago. I understand warranties for parts, but repairs from a qualified and experienced mechanic who has pride in his craft should hold up longer than 2 years. Im sure if I took my Jeep back, they would make it right, but I moved out of the area. Im disappointed, but not angry. They came to me highly recommended and I have recommended them to others, but now...well probably not. Note to Clayton: quit making excuses to the unhappy clients and find solutions for them. That would work.

Horrible experience here, terrible people skills and took advantage instead of trying to help out. I was disappointed in the service and lack of information. They didnt finish my vehicle instead they sent me packing to another place because I asked if they would be done soon.

Car : 93 MiataDate of service: 7-3-2018Problem: AC had lost enough refrigerant compressor would not come on.Owner and staff were friendly enough.I was told they evacuated, recharged and leak tested but found no leaks. They also told me engine would not run at idle with AC on and offered no recomendation on repair of that problem.I paid approximately $150, this included a necessary adaptor to allow connection to their test equipment.I left semi-satisfied since AC was working good but I had to turn AC off before coming to a stop to prevent the engine dieing.Next day AC would not work again. Took it back 7-5-2018. They said the compressor crank seal is leaking.They priced a replacement compressor at apprximately $300, labor to install another $90 and I assume I would need to pay another $125 for the AC evacuation and recharge.I couldnt afford this repair at this time.They said sorry, and sent me on my way.

AVOID THIS PLACECharged us $180 for a service and did literally nothing to the car. Oil still old with old filter, all fluids low, tyres low etc. Only realised when we got 200 miles away. Pretty sure they just forgot. Absolutly hopeless!

Recently discovered. Had my transmission rebuilt about a year ago. Shortly after the rebuild my driveshaft had fallen out (not family auto cares fault nor responsibilitIy) just from some non greased u-joints. So it sat for a few months constantly leaking ATF and I had checked the transmission pan to make sure it was not damaged from the bolts that had fell out from the driveshaft, nothing was found. I sold it to a guy Ive know for a while, well he took it to a shop and they had removed the pan because it was leaking so much transmission fluid while sitting. Come to find out the gasket was the same one I put in well before I took it to family auto care it was never changed (OK whatever no big deal) well he had also told me they had found a 5 inch bolt laying in the bottom of my pan which there was absolutely no damage to the pan whatsoever nor around it and it still drove, so I took it upon myself to speak with the owner of the shop who had helped with the truck, he said he had found a bolt about 5 inches long laying in my pan. Now nothing I can obviously do about it now but I believe if Im paying a good amount of cash to have my transmission rebuilt, there shouldnt be a 5 INCH BOLT LAYING IN MY PAN to cause internal damage. So GREATLY APPRECIATED Family Auto Care, but I will never bring another transmission yet alone a vehicle to your shop, be worth it to just take it to bakers and spend a few extra bucks. Including all the other issues I had at family auto care.Will never recommend this shop to anyone in this town or that I speak to.

I had an appt at 9am and brought in my car at 845 am and the guy helped a walk in in front of me and then walked away didnt even say ill be right back and was told by the lady that they would get my car in right away at 9am and would be couple hours and i would have answers. I called after at 12pm and they said well I assume you could wait longer since you were dropping off your car. So I put a walk in front of you and I said why would you assume I could wait longer that makes no since when I told you I was dropping my car off for an appointment at 9am. He said Im sorry I will get your car in right after lunch. I said okay I need it back asap. Now its about 3pm no call nothing at all I dont understand and this place charges 70$ just to look at your car WOW. They didnt charge me because i picked up my car before they were done.. Yes when i brought my car in i did say i have taken to 5 people and told him fixed axles and a fitting 3 times but that was to help him in finding the other leak i was looking for i told him i was sick of throwing parts at it on lil stuff i wanted to find the big leak. But i would of paid no problem if they did the job i was told they would do. All I can say is its poor service. I also left out the swear words he had called me and said to me.Enough to say they have bad customer service and service work.. I wouldnt recommend them to you or friends or family. 06/26/2015

Wao the truth, these mechanics left me speechless. Slovenia returned from my vacation with the family from California to my home in New Jersey and I was stranded 100 miles from this place, a source of martyrdom until Monday, able to ...
