I bought a 2012 Toyota Sequoia from them about two months ago and it was the smoothest car buying experience I’ve ever had! Definitely recommend! They are passionate about the work they do and the cars they have! I will definitely be using them on my future build on the Sequoia!!
I have a ‘17 Tacoma and I would say Ive had the majority of large upgrades to my truck performed at Adventure Motors. They do it all here from winterizing your ride to installing a complete suspension lift/bumpers/rooftop tents the works for an off road or overland build. Michael and his staff know these Toyotas inside and out and I’m glad I stumbled upon their shop and you should be too. They communicate well and will take on any job large or small, they don’t push your decisions for upgrades, its all totally in your hands along the way. If you get a little carried away with that DIY mod and you need help give them a call too. You can make your ride whatever you want it to be. I just moved further away and I’m even sad this shop wont be as close to me anymore because they’re a great resource and shop for the vehicle you’ve always imagined. They also sell used Builds if you’re looking for a completed truck and can’t wait to have one. Adventure Motors overall is a great company and I’d recommend them to anyone with a Toyota.
We purchased our 08 Sequoia from Adventure Motors. We are life-long Toyota owners and very particular with what we buy. Couldnt have had a better experience. Adventure only sells top-tier vehicles that are in excellent condition. Laid-back, non-pushy sales reps as well. We left feeling like we made new friends! Will for sure do more business with you guys. Thanks
Michael and his staff are always a pleasure to work with. They have gone above and beyond for me on my vehicles and I couldn’t be happier.Their knowledge of Toyotas, and in my case series 80 land cruisers, is second to none.We love coming here and we’re always treated like good friends.I would recommend Adventure Motors for any of your Toyota, overlanding, or off-roading needs!
If you want a quality job, quality work, quality everything for any project or any task, you go to to an expert. Adventure Motors and their staff are not only quality Toyota/Lexus experts, theyre also quality people. They took care of my Land Cruiser and did everything in their power to get any and all issues they found resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner. 10/10 will be going back to them.
Absolutely best experience! If you have a Toyota or Lexus, look no further. Extremely knowledgeable! And great work. Very pleased and will never go anywhere for work on my 4Runner. Thanks everyone at Adventure Motors!
I will first start off this review by letting folks know I bought a 2018 Toyota Tacoma off road from a local dealership in 2018. I inquired to Adventure Motors about potential improvements I wanted to make. This company and employees go above and beyond to provide sound knowledge base on products and recommendations based on interest. I was not pressured at all and come 1 and a half years later they were able to get my truck outfitted with complete suspension package for a very reasonable price. They ask the right questions and some things I didn’t realize were important. In summation, I will be utilizing this company for any further service/modification to my vehicle. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. Thank you guys and I will see you soon!Chase
Shipped an 80 series Land Cruiser to these guys from the east coast. They mildly restored it, did a large amount of mechanical repair, and then built it up to my specs. It was a seamless transaction from the second I called them to when the rig was brought back to me. They even handled the transportation for me! 6 months later I could not be happier with my cruiser. Its exactly what I wanted. These guys are Toyota gurus! If youre on the fence, jump off it, this is your shop.
I drove across the state to have them install a snorkel on my 2019 4runner. They did it in half the time quoted, greased up my icon suspension and let me browse around the shop while they did. A very cool group of folks with an awful lot of potential once inventory and parts are available again. As soon as we can reliably get gearsets Ill be headed back that way to regear to 4.56
The crew over at Adventure Motors is the number one stop for any sort of overland vehicle needs. Their collection of 4Runners in not only the most impressive in the Kansas City area, but also their customization department and ability to meet customer needs is unparalleled. Ricky not only got me the beautiful 4 Runner I wanted, but also customized it to perfection. This team makes sure you are completely satisfied with their product. I couldnt be happier with my purchase, and I couldnt be happier with where I purchased it. These are photos I took on a trip out to CO just days after purchase.
Adventure Motors / DYI Motors is not an overland build shop, even though they talk like it. Michael did a complete overland build on my 2017 4runner. I spent as much $$$ with them as I did on the new 4runner. Communication was beyond poor and the 4runner didnt come together like he said it would. They talk a good game and may do simple things well, but if you are looking for a complete build I would keep looking . My 4runner is listed on their site as their January build. I am currently in the process of trying to get them to stand behind what they contractually said they would do (and what I paid for). I am correcting what I can, and am even working with another shop to fix some stuff they cut corners on. Needless to say I am very unhappy about having to pay for the same thing twice just to get it right. Brief highlight of problems: regear = axle leak, suspension required ARB intervention, brand new bolts rusting, slidders and rear bumper coating not done right and rusting, interior cuts not clean, awning and RTT were not fit to the vehicle and wont function if I use the storage on the rear bumper, and more. I selected top of the line parts and they act like the problem is between me and the mfgs, even though everything was bought from them and based on their recommendations. I would not recommend them for anything but the most basic stuff.
The only place I trust with my Toyota’s. They do an awesome job and go above and beyond! Can’t thank them enough! Super glad they’re in KC.
Great experience and fantastic value for my 2015 4Runner Trail. After my previous 4Runner was totaled in a catastrophic Denver hailstorm, I searched high and low with Toyota dealers and private sellers to find a good replacement. After getting fed-up with salespeople clueless as to what vehicle they were selling that day, and shady private sellers, I branched out and started looking out of state. Adventure Motors seemed to have a nice website, and had some great looking inventory. After exchanging e-mails with Michael, it was clear he has a passion for these vehicles and knows them inside and out. Purchasing (and trading-in my old vehicle) out of state was nerve-wracking, but dealing with Michael and his family made it stress free, no hassles, no surprises. I would not hesitate buying another vehicle from them (or taking it for mods. and upgrades), regardless of what is available locally here in Colorado, they simply get better, cleaner vehicles, and the no BS sell pricing is great. Thanks again!!
This place is awesome. I dont know if there is anything they cant do when it comes to mods and aftermarket equipment for your Toyota. Not only that, but the 3 people I talked to were very personable and helpful. It definitely seems like a place where the folks like their jobs!!!
Purchased a used car (trade in for one of the cool Toyotas they sell) and great experience. Very competitive price, easy transaction, and overall good experience.
They’re very courteous and knowledgeable but the only reason I’m giving them 2 stars is because i went in to get my sequoia inspected and they were going to get me a quote for all the work i need to get done to it and they haven’t gotten back to me yet it’s been about 3 weeks and i have contacted them like 3 times via email and phone, i feel that as a customer i shouldn’t have to keep calling this is unprofessional from they’re part imo and because of this i wont recommend them, if you didn’t want to work on my suv you could’ve just told me that since the get go
I needed to front and rear coilovers, new control arms, and leaf springs installed on my 2002 Toyota Tacoma. I got quotes from 4Wheel Parts, Chux Trux, and KC Customs. Not only did Adventure Motors give me the best price but they clearly knew the most about my truck once I really spent time talking to them. Michael and his team were really easy to work with for my busy work schedule and really made sure everything was installed properly. Ive build cars in the past and know my way around a shop. These guys clearly know Yotas.
Hands down the best dealership experience I have had. The owner Michael pretty much breathes Toyota’s, and he offers great information about his vehicles without pushing you to make a decision. 10/10 would recommend this dealership for anyone thinking about getting into 4 wheeling. No other dealership compares when it comes to knowledge, customer service, and overall passion for what they do. Go buy a truck from them.
I’d like to praise this local business for doing an outstanding job on my vehicle. I had an idea what I wanted, and they showed me other vehicles on their lot to better explain what they did. Also everyone I’ve interacted with stopped what they were doing to answer my questions. I highly recommend this local shop.
I bought a Tacoma from these guys. I knew going in it wouldnt be perfect but was rather alarmed when big ticket items like a front diff was bad. Michael gave me his word that the truck had been looked over and everything was good to go. If youre going to ask a premium for these trucks, be honest, sell something youd stand behind. Even on my test drive I asked what the front humming sound was, too which I was told, its just the tires. Yes it could have been the tires, but after I put new ones on and it didnt go away. I knew it something much worse. The whole process seems sketchy, I paid cash for my truck and instead they held my title for weeks. When contacting the Dept of Revenue they too agreed the dealer should have handed over the title. It left me with this uneasy feeling. Not to mention they were not very welcoming. I equate to being around a group of guys and youre the outsider.I can appreciate what these guys are trying to do, which is to have a cool overland shop selling rigs that are built and not built. Maybe they just want customers that dont know anything about cars and trucks? I was so excited that they were in in Lees Summit, but after that buying experience I dont think Id come back.
My wife and I bought a 2004 4Runner with over 200,000 miles from Adventure Motors. The price was good and the thing has been extremely reliable. Michael, the owner, is great to deal with and I enjoy talking to him. Hes very knowledgeable specifically with Toyotas and he doesnt act like a sales guy. Not pushy at all. Tells you the facts about the vehicle youre looking at and allows you to make your own decision. Id definitely recommend Adventure Motors to anyone looking for an awesome ride. While I havent personally dealt with their shop, I know Ive seen some amazing rigs with legitimate lift kits, nice wheels, and armor. They do meticulous work and you can tell they love what they do because they drive the same trucks they build for their customers.
I searched online for weeks, narrowing my choices to look at two trucks in the KC area. Drove from Des Moines. Loved the Tacoma at Adventure Motors. Took it for a test drive, told Riki my concerns about the truck, he and the staff addressed the issue, so I bought it. The mechanic even stayed late on a Friday night. Now understand, I bought a truck on the low end of their trucks, but they treated me like I was buying their highest priced unit. Next time I’m not even shopping around, I’m just going to Adventure Motors in Lee Summit. Can’t wait.
I had suspension work done on my old 2003 Toyota 4Runner here at the end of October and I had the most positive positive experience I could imagine. I tried to do the work on my own and failed, so I searched for a week at local shops and ultimately made an appointment with Adventure Motors. From the moment I parked my truck and walked in I was greeted by one of mechanics and he gave me a quick tour of their shop/showroom. I liked that. It made me comfortable enough to hand him my keys and walk away. Even when there was a problem I was contacted via email AND a phone call. Excellent follow up and problem resolution.Picking up the truck was fantastic. The look exceeded my expectations. I also met Michael and we had a pleasant conversation about other modifications that would complete my goals. So comfortable, I think I paid the invoice before I actually saw my truck...In short, the service was great and it was easy to do business. I’m currently looking for an additional Toyota to adventure in. I’ll be back.
Great shop! Very knowledgeable in all things Toyota, and offroad products. The builds are top notch. Terrific attention to detail! There is a big difference in buying a dedicated offroad vehicle from some dealership that is just trying to move the next truck. And buying from a place where the owner and the employees hearts are in the hobby. They love what they do and in my book that is what makes these vehicles that much more special! Its not just a job, its a lifestyle for them.
I purchased a 2003 Toyota Land Cruiser from Adventure Motors and hope this will help others be more careful than I was. I flew in town to look it over and test drive. Then paid for an inspection from their recommended mechanic (The Auto Clinic). A few parts were pointed out as needing to be replaced but other than that, the Auto Clinic said it was good to go. I decided to buy it and we agreed for the few parts to be replaced. After payment was sent, it became difficult to get a timely response regarding temporary tags, title and status of when the vehicle would be delivered. I had to call multiple times regarding the temp tags and title (took WAY WAY too long to reach me). This appears to be similar experience with other reviewers. When I received the vehicle, one of the items we had agreed upon was clearly not replaced. Again, getting in contact with them to send me the part to make it right was not easy.I decided after a few weeks of having the vehicle to have a land cruiser specialist do an inspection just to be safe before a trip. They found a myriad of issues - lower ball joint with a torn boot, CV axle leaking and needing to be replaced, front differential bushing/support bracket, power steering line leaking, sway bar bushings. None of these were pointed out my Adventure Motors or the Auto Clinic and this was less than 500 miles after receiving the vehicle. Be more careful than I was each step of the way. It was clear to me they want to be seen as a serious overland shop but that was not my experience at all.***Reply to Owner***You and you staff were very friendly throughout the process. My wife and I felt great leaving the test drive. I do not believe your staff is shady or anything along those lines, but hoping others are more cautious. I do have all proof/receipts/inspection notes from a reputable land cruiser specialist and I also forgot to mention the amplifier that fried up on 7/31. It took between 30-40 days for you to send me a $150 part that was readily available and was supposed to be replaced prior to shipment - this gave me zero confidence you would cover the costs for the $3,000+ parts/labor that were found to be needed, especially since they were found after purchase. I figured any demands for reimbursement would fall on deaf ears.I think the focus of your response is misguided. I chose the Auto Clinic after you told me they look at a lot of your vehicles and are very familiar with a land cruiser like mine - I took your word for that - my bad. Again, I am just wanting others to be more careful. Yes, the transport communication was in order and good with me besides not receiving the temporary tag (kind of important, no?) I did not receive the title until 2 weeks after my temp tag date was expired. You mention I had cold feet? I had a deposit down and was on vacation from 7/1-7/5 and I sent the funds immediately upon return (you also said it wouldnt be able to ship until after July 4th anyway so I was in no hurry). Unrealistic expectations? I never complained about the bad curb rash on the wheels or the bumper/fender that were damaged. My expectation was to be made aware of issues - that is not unrealistic.I did not make this post expecting any sort of reimbursement for repairs I had done - it is to help other potential buyers. Thanks.
Beautiful clean and friendly space. The owner will go out of his way to make things happen, he personally found our vehicle from another state and brought it to KC for us. Love our car we purchased from adventure motors, exactly what we asked for and within our price budget. The team at adventure motors is proficient and knowlegeable they will meet your need above and beyond your expectation.
💯 The best in the business 💯
I had a pretty easy time with the Adventure Motors team. I went back and forth on exactly what I was looking for, but finally decided on exact mileage and color. I didnt have to wait long for them to find it for me. They included the tires and wheels that I had picked out and shipped pretty quickly to my state. I dont think I could be happier with the setup and get compliments all the time on my 4runner.The whole team is very friendly and I would definitely do business with them again. If you are looking for a specific build, mileage and/color these are the people to work with. Constant messages back and forth and never felt like a hassle or that I wasnt a priority customer. Thanks again for the work you guys put in to source and get my 4runner to me.
Purchased a 2011 4Runner Trail Edition about a month back. Its been great! If you are looking for a used Toyota to take some adventures and get off the highway, Id recommend Adventure Motors. Im looking forward to make some upgrades to my 4Runner in the future with them because they make it so easy.
Very friendly and super helpful. Will be back for any off roading/overlanding needs.
Michael Fuller doesn’t get enough credit that he definitely deserves. He is by far the most honest person in the industry. I refuse to call him a salesman because he isn’t. He is an absolute expert in everything that he does within his business. His after sales support is top notch. If I ever have a question in regards to the vehicle I bought from him he answers right away. Anybody I see that owns any type of Toyota/Lexus SUV or truck I immedialty go up to them and refer Michael to them. That’s how much I trust him as a person. On top of that the work he does is absolute the best. Better than any dealership could ever do. If you want a reliable vehicle and a trustworthy person and company to buy it from Adventure motors and Michael Fuller is the person to do business with. Don’t shop anywhere else or you will be disappointed!!!
We had such a great experience with them we will definitely buy from them again in the future. If you hate regular dealerships and salesmen then this is the place to go. They went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our 4-runner!
I drive from Des Moines, Iowa to see these guys. Best in the Midwest. My 4runner and my Tundra have both had work done at Adventure Motors. The guys are super knowledgeable and Ive been very happy with everything.
Far and away, working with Michael was the best car buying experience of my life. Hes very passionate and knowledgeable about these types of vehicles, and genuinely cares about the cars and people that he sells them to. He found exactly what I was looking for, made sure that it was a vehicle worth pursuing, confirmed that it was mechanically sound, and offered it at a fair price. You simply can’t ask for more than that. In my opinion, Michael is going above and beyond, and is offering a rare experience in his industry. He’s communicated with me more than once after my purchase to see how I was doing, and to invite me to join him on some off-road excursions…which just shows how great a guy he is. Why fuss about with any other shop? Thanks again, Michael!! I’m loving my 4Runner!
Great private dealer. Vehicles in good condition with fair prices, and a friendly helpful staff that are willing to answer any questions you have. Wonderful buying experience.
The world would be such a great place if all businesses were like these guys. Its rare to find someone you can put your trust into - especially in the car business. Weve bought, consignment-sold (because of new vehicle needs), and will get our next vehicle from Adventure Motors. Great place for upgrades too! Thanks guys!
Installed parts as planned. Very helpful in talking through pros and cons of parts. Could improve by having some one available to answer the phone during business hours. Other than that I think they are making improvements to their business and I would recommend them again to others.
Below is my personal experience with Adventure Motor in KC.I am in CO and was looking for a 5th gen 4Runner for sometime. I had a friend who purchased his 2010 4Runner from Adventure Motors and had a good experience. So, when I found a 2011 4Runner in my price range, I decided to pursue it. Since I am out of state, I did internet research, asked questions and paid for an outside inspection before flying out. I saw the Car Fax which listed a few minor rear damage notes in it. I knew this and bought the car, so that is on me. I know more than your average car buyer; however, with that said, I do not know enough to do work on my own car or really get into anything.I arrived, and first noticed that many of the features listed on the web ad were not present including back up cam, sunroof, etc. I looked at photos and took a quick video tour before flying out, so that is also on me for not noticing; however, I do believe they copy and paste their descriptions as opposed to actually distinguishing between 4Runners, so confirm before travel or purchase. My concerns:As I am out of state, they had to process the title and send it to me. It was sent without a signature from the broker they got it from. So back and forth phone calls and mailing the title set my registration back a few weeks. Ok, not the end of the world and they reimbursed mail costs.About a month into owning it, I went to use the 4-wheel drive and come to find out the 4WD indicator lights do not come on. I contacted Michael about it, but he had never heard of that happening. The 4wd was functioning so I moved on.Then I hear a noise that is diagnosed as a cracked catalytic converter in October 2019. When I confronted Michael about this, he let me know someone sawziled the cat converters off many 4Runners on their lot and they replaced them. Damage that wasnt disclosed to me at time of purchase and seems to me that their replacement part is faulty.February 2020, the wheel starts shaking when braking so I have to replace the rotors and pads. Again... kind of seems like something they would catch in their thorough inspections listed on their website but fine.I put some nice snow tires on the 4Runner, and in April I notice there is some uneven wear on the inside tread of the two rear tires. When I take it in (to two different places), I come to find out that the rear end of the vehicle is bent, likely from an accident. I had to replace the rear differential and two snow tires to the tune of $4k. Because I had not been in any accidents and driven barely 7k miles, I felt confident that damage came with the vehicle. when I bought it. I have seen Adventure Motors rebuild rear differentials on their instagram, so I know they are well versed in 4Runners. Once again, something that should have come up in their thorough inspections. I called Michael, and without placing blame, asked if we could chat about it. He immediately went on the defense. I tried to put him in touch with my mechanics, sent him the alignment readings and estimate. I finally reached out with a list of my issues and asked if they would consider splitting the cost with me only to have it turned back on me and then they completely stopped responding. It would be inappropriate for me to avoid any responsibility. I chose to buy the vehicle and signed a purchase as is feeling comfortable with the information I got. They owe me nothing although in my personal opinion, good customer service would have been taking time to discuss the issues with my mechanics and consider splitting costs with me.*Reply to reply*: I provided my mechanics information on multiple occasions to which AM did not reach out. The last communication I had with them was via email, and they were going to look into some info from the pre-purchase inspection but never heard back. They have every right to refuse to provide any financial compensation so I expect nothing. Bummer that, in my experience, they didnt stand up their expertise or customer service claims. Oh well- lesson learned.
Had a great experience with Adventure Motors! The paperwork was simple and NO pressure to buy. Mr. Benjamin even gave us a followup phone call 2 weeks after we bought the car to see how it was running for us. They may have restored my positive opinion of car dealers.
Adventure Motors was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. I highly recommend getting your vehicle from them. Super knowledgeable, very courteous, and they made the whole process easy. Cant say enough good things!
I drove from Des Moines to work with this team. If you are familiar with Magnuson Superchargers, you know they are highly technical installs and thus why I would only trust Adventure Motors for the job. Class acts and very easy to work with, thanks for everything!
Great owner always willing to help out. They run a professional outfit and do a great job. Would recommend.
Almost 2 months after purchase and I still do not have my title. They filled out the forms incorrectly based on my outdated address on id. I Informed the salesperson while going through purchase paperwork. He made a note of the correct address on the customer information form. Unfortunately they sent that copy of the form home with me and my title got sent to my old address. I have contacted them many times via phone and text. Leaving messages most the time as they don’t seem to answer the phone often. They told me they would reorder and ship to my current address a month ago, have heard nothing since then. My main issue with adventure is the lack of contact and follow up. Really bad customer service when you leave multiple messages and can’t seem to get a response.
I wish I could provide a much more favorable review of Adventure Motors and Ive even delayed this giving them an opportunity to keep it from happening but its been 2 months now. Pre-purchase the communication couldnt have been any better. I drove 6 hours to purchase a 2012 4Runner from them. During their detailing of the vehicle, the original HU was busted so a replacement was made onsite however the backup camera didnt work. I was promised a replacement HU would be shipped to me. I was also told that I would receive the 2nd set of vehicle keys and the set of Goose box keys. I have yet to receive any of them in almost 2 months. The subwoofer portion of the OEM Audio + upgrade is not working (which he was informed during my test drive) so the amp/brain was warrantied by him. Instead of owning on getting me another unit, I was just referred to OEM Audio to get it handled myself. Unfortunately they are not replying to any emails either so the expressed warranty is useless at this point. Follow up emails were never answered and only did I catch the owner in the shop by a phone call was I able to get an a new temp tag due to DMVs being closed. I provide my story so future potential buyers can be aware of how service after the sale could suffer if happen at all.
I bought a 2016 Tacoma back in October. Paperwork issues and communication is the main reason for my review. Right after I bought the truck, the transmission was acting up, turned out to be a leak, the truck was in the shop for two weeks during that time. Adventure Motors paid for that work, but communicated poorly through the process. I was told the tire rubbing was because the tires were too big and it needed either new wheels or wheel spacers. I bought wheel spacers until I can afford new wheels, go to put them on and discover there were wheel spacers on there, except for the drivers side. And today I go to put the running boards on and see the transmission is still leaking. Disappointed honestly in the quality of what was sold to me. Ive had Jeeps in the past and wanted something more family friendly and reliable, but Im feeling like Toyotas may not be all they are cracked up to be.
I bought my Toyota Camry from here, had a wonderful experience with the guys who worked there, and they sold me a quality car. Will definitely do business with them in the future and highly recommend to others as well.
We bought and traded in our car to Micheal. He was a pleasure to deal with. Honest, fair, and great customer service. I recommend anyone that is looking at vehicles on his site. Pull the trigger. You wont find a better person to work with and he truly cares about selling top quality cars.
Easy deal... bought one of their trade-ins..In and out quickly, and efficiently...Would recommend whole heartedly!
Best Toyota/Lexus specialist BOTH sides of the Mississippi! They not only know their stuff in and out but will take the time to figure what is the best game plan for your vehicle and your needs. They will never try to oversell you on something you don’t need, only give you the best vechile possible for you. #adventuremotorsfamily
Got a newer Yota with reasonable mileage and got a good deal on it until I started having problems. Have not been able to afford to get it to a shop after just paying for it and they say its my problem even though I just got it. No way would I recommend this to anyone.
Ive bought a lot of cars over the years, and this was hands down the easiest and most enjoyable experience of them all. Michael at DYI Motors made it extremely easy. He professionally and knowledgeably answered my many questions, and took the time to explain the process to me fully. My wife and I ended up with exactly what we were looking for, down to the last option we wanted, at a price far below retail, in a surprisingly short amount of time. I will be recommending Michaels services to anyone looking to buy a car- or sell one for that matter! Good business model, great deal, awesome guy!
Super friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Would recommend to everyone I know.
Recently purchased a 4Runner from Michael and very happy with the service and truck. I would highly recommend anybody looking for a good used 4x4 to go through him. He has more knowledge on Toyota products than you can imagine, and will absolutely be going back to purchase another in a couple years. Keep up the good work Michael!
Do not buy a truck from Adventure Motors. We had Ricky as a sales rep and he had no idea what he was talking about. Tried to sell us a Tacoma that had bald inner rings on every tire. The tires had never been aligned and driving over 60mph on the highway felt like a death trap. Would not negotiate on the price to account for the bald tires. Asked them to go down a $1,000 on the price because it didnt seem like the truck would make it very far without new tires. They offered to give us 2 new tires but keep 2 of the old tires on there. That literally doesnt make any sense. Why would you drive a truck with 2 BALD tires on the front but 2 brand NEW 34in tires on the rear. Asked our sales rep if we could speak to the owner and the owner never even bothered to come down from his office. Very unprofessional and would not recommend Adventure Motors to anyone serious about off-roading. This place is for Leawood Daddys to buy their highschool freshman a Jacked up and aggressive truck to impress all his little bros at school. Adventure Motors is trash.
These guys are fantastic! Thanks for the very easy and pleasurable experience. I love my new-to-me 4runner and its a beast! Michael is very knowledgable and easy to deal with. They make the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable.
Michael Fuller did a great job in tracking down and in purchasing my wife a beautiful car. Not only did he keep us informed along in the process but he was able to save us a massive amount of money. I would not hesitate to buy another car from him in the future. Truly customer-driven, listens to you about what you have to say and the car that you want.
If youve got a Toyota or Lexus and want to upgrade your vehicle, theres no question, this is the place to go. Great service, great prices, and the employees not only know their products, but drive them as well, so you get real world feedback from people who use them, not just reading out of a catalog.
I cant say enough about the treatment I got at DYI Motors. Every aspect of the car buying process was simpler and less frustrating than any other car purchase I can remember. From sales, to my trade in, to financing, and everything in between, Michael was pleasant and easy to work with. Clearly customer satisfaction is his number one priority. KC dealers - take note! If you want a model to follow, check out DYI Motors.Michael keep doing what you do and thanks again for the great service!
Best vehicle buying experience I have ever had. Great customer service, knowledgeable friendly staff, no pressure and hassle free. Would highly recommend!
Unreal. We agreed on a car deal at 11am (I live 3 hours away). I had the loan approved and kept in contact throughout the day. At 5 PM I let these guys know I needed a purchase agreement and they said no problem. We agreed to meet at 1pm tomorrow and at 615 at night they email. Not the purchase agreement but rather that they went ahead and sold the car to someone else. Unreal.
Buying our 2010 4Runner from them was a nightmare. I purchased this vehicle in December of 2018. It was Michael Fullers(owner) personal vehicle. He sold it under his dealership. I received the title signed in the wrong location. I had to go back to the dealership to have it signed in the correct location. Then, I went to the DMV and they said a lien release is required, since it was a personal vehicle. So, I had to go back to the dealership to get that. At the time of purchase, I was told Id get the headrest that was removed to fit car seats and a second key. After two additional visits, I finally was able to get the headrest. I still do not have the second key. Michael then said hed order some and then hed call me when they were in so I could go somewhere in Lees Summit to have it programmed. That never happened. Finally, the bumper. In the ad(posted), it CLEARLY states that a finished custom tire carrier rear bumper would be included in the purchase or a factory bumper would be added if you didnt want that. I called and emailed with no response for almost two months. I decided to show up. I walked in and Michael said, Oh, bumper!. He said he couldnt get the guy that built the bumpers to deliver them or respond to him(sounds familiar) and hed give me a credit. Again, the ad clearly stated it would be INCLUDED in the purchase of the vehicle. He credited me $1850($1400+$450 labor to install). He pulled up C4 fabs website and said he would purchase their rear tire carrier bumper. That total would have been $2610(notice the $760 difference?). We agreed hed pay for the bumper and I would cover any upgraded options. I received an invoice to pay on June 22nd for $1765. The bumper total was $3165. He paid $1400 and he wanted me to pay $1765. Again, we agreed I would pay for upgrades from the base rear bumper with tire carrier. I felt bad for him because a guy screwed him over so I paid the invoice wanting this to end and get the bumper installed. On Nov 12th at 9:30AM, we dropped the vehicle off. I called at around 2PM to check status with my work phone number(I cant have my cell phone in the building) and my call was not returned. We show up to Adventure Motors at 5:30PM and he said they tried calling several times but I never answered. I had zero missed calls on my work phone or cell phone but I had an email(cant check personal email at work either). NOTE: 4Runner was sitting inside untouched. Wednesday, again, no phone calls. I received an email saying theyve been trying to call my cell phone. I have NO missed calls. Bumper is, again, not installed. Thursday, received a phone call before noon from Ariana(super nice) saying it would be done at 5:30PM. I leave work and see a text saying it WONT be completed that night. I leave Friday on a hunting trip and told her Id be there at 11AM to get it, whether they are done or not. At 8:40AM, I receive an invoice for the power coating(ad clearly stated FINISHED tire carrier bumper). At 11:30AM, I arrive to pick up the vehicle. Ariana greeted me(again, very nice person) and ask to speak to Michael. She said she doesnt think hes there. Then, she goes behind the wall where the shop is located. She soon returns and goes upstairs to get Ricky(very nice guy, no issues). He said he would show me the vehicle so I could pay the invoice and go. I told him I wasnt paying the invoice because the bumper was supposed to be included with the purchase of the vehicle. He seemed very confused and then I asked to speak with Michael. He said he doesnt think hes there(shop isnt big enough to NOT know he was in there or not). He said hed be right back. Michael comes out and hands me the keys and says, Here you go and dont come back. So, apparently, my $25765 for a $24000 vehicle is not good enough for him. Im glad I was local to make sure he keeps his word.TL;DRMichael gets mad at people for making him keep his word then tells customers to Dont come back after customer pays for more than 50% of bumper that was listed in the ad as being part of purchase price.
Great customer service! Bought a 2015 Toyota 4runner and it has served us well! They were very helpful...
Bought a new to me 4runner and it was the best car buying experience Ive ever had, no pressure and they even fixed a transfer case issue before I took it home for free!
We bought a 2002 Toyota Tacoma a few months ago and received amazing customer service. Got the truck home and had a bit of a hiccup. I contacted Michael and he made it right. There arent many people in the world (let alone car dealerships) that have a moral compass. I am beyond happy!Plus, they only carry Toyota 4x4s. You cant get much better than that!
I dont think I will buy a car with anyone else in the future. I was able to give a description of the vehicle I was looking for, and DYI Motors found it and purchased it for me at an awesome price (well below retail pricing). No craigslist haggling, no high dealer costs - and I got the car I was looking for. On top of that Mike turned around and sold my truck for me, which wasnt even in great shape. Needless to say when someone mentions needing to buy a car, I quickly tell them about my experience at DYI.
Fantastic buying experience and very happy with the purchase 6 months later. I have and will continue to recommend them to family or friends looking for the vehicles they specialize in. A+ buying experience from start to finish.
Awesome staff, great atmosphere.
Great location with the best people. If you like outdoors, these guys will get you where you need to go.
Seeing is believing so I usualy purchase my vehicles from local dealer for a ease of mind. It was because the 2013 FJ Cruiser TTE a tough to find so I had to look into out-of-state sources. I came across Adventure Motors during my search and liked its presentation so I decided to give them a try. On the phone with both Reggie and Michael and they were very helpful in explanning details and face-time around the vehicle so the first impression was good. I wired the money last week and confirmed it was received by AM this morning. I will give them a 5-star for my up-to-date experience, however, I will come back to share my thoughts on how fast they can ship out the vehicle into my possession. Overall, a great company.
Awesome place! Easiest car buying experience. Definitely would do business here again!!
Great shop. Family owned! Amazing team.
Drove 6 hrs from Tennessee to get the FJ and drove it 6 hrs.home. 3 months later and Im still happy with both the deal and the FJ. Thanks, Michael
Great service. Quick and simple buying experience.Would recommend!
Micheal is a super nice guy, he actually held the car I wanted for me until I sold my car. He has great prices and awesome customer service!
You guys are amazing and I look forward to working with you in the future!
While searching the internet for a rare Toyota MR2 Spyder, I cam across an excellent bargain at DYI Motors. I live in Michigan and have an out-of-state bank which caused me difficulty in transferring funds. DYI Motors held the vehicle for me and assisted in getting everything ironed out. When I made a mistake in scheduling shipping, the folks at DYI Motors changed their schedule to accommodate me. I have never had such a positive experience while purchasing an automobile! I highly recommend them. Thank you, DYI Motors!
I bought my Honda from DYImotors this past saturday. Michael is very knowledgeable when it comes to a good deal and an even more knowledgeable businessman. Had everything sorted out when I arrived from my 2 hour drive and had the keys in my hand within an hour.
The owner is super friendly and very knowledgeable. Unfortunately I didn’t end up purchasing a vehicle from here, but 100% still recommend Adventure Motors to anyone looking for 4WD Toyotas, they really know their stuff!
Awesome experience, got an amazing car for a great deal, flew in from denver to buy it, was picked up at the airport by an awesome driver, couldnt be happier with my experience, thanks!!!
These guys are the real deal.
Good people.
Great customization
