Excellent online customer service experience! Roger emailed me back promptly and more than answered my question. From his thorough description, I felt as though I already had the book in hand. The book arrived a few days later and was exactly as described. Looking forward to doing business with him again and visiting his shop when Im in the area.
Awesome collection. Could spend all day there.
Called this local bookstore because it was recommended on rare book sites. I was Seeking information about a rare book. Owner answered phone. He Answered a few of my questions but seemed bothered by the call. He informed me that he had missed two calls while he was talking to me...Wow. Really? Had always wanted to visit this store, I’ll definitely travel to another city before I buy books at this establishment.
Amazing selection of books with a gifted curator! Yes this is as much a museum as it is a book store and Roger knows exactly where everything is. The prices are reasonable and the selection is overwhelming, but there again you have a curator to guide you . We truly enjoyed our visit and will return again the next time we visit Greensboro .
Just wanted to grab a book really quick before I hit the road, but apparently no one working there knew of or would point out any books to me.It was incredibly cluttered and disorganized. I couldnt find anything I was looking for and they couldnt either.Edit: owner responded to my review but apparently thinks Im someone else, so this isnt the first time.I came in looking for ANYTHING of a single genre, but they couldnt even show me the section where the books would be. Clearly just wanted me to leave and talked amongst themselves as I attempted to look among the jumbled mess of books, badly labeled IF they were labeled at all.
Used bookstore with an extensive collection, especially history. Precarious piles of books everywhere make browsing a challenge. The store has an affectionate pit bull who may demand that you pet them. Prices range from reasonable to very good.
This bookstore is incredibly tiny and crowded, about the size of a master bedroom, that is packed with tall shelves and stacks of books on the floor here and there. There is a single path down the center of the store barely big enough for two people to pass. The selection is eclectic with a mix of popular and obscure. They do have the biggest selection of NC history and Civil War books Ive seen. Prices were reasonable.
This is an amazing bookstore and they have a great staff. I have been buying books here for at least the last 10 years. Love the selection and they have an awesome Ebay and Amazon Store as well!!!
The selection is good but the owner could a lesson in social skills. I asked him over the phone to hold a book for me and he said he would. When I showed up three days later he told me the book was sold which I could forgive. Mistakes happen. But he had to say it was my fault for being three days late. My call was on a Friday but I wasnt able to get there until Monday and the store was closed on Sunday. He also told me that the other customer paid cash as if implying I was an unreliable deadbeat. He could have simply said the book was accidentally sold or that he thought it was in stock when it wasnt. Had he done so without belittling this long time customer this could have been an entirely different review.
Ive been a customer for over 20 years. This is a great place to find your next book. Especially if youre looking for local and regional history. Sure, its a little cluttered, but that just means more books to browse.
This book shop has something for everyone. Its a little crowded inside but the variety of subject matter makes it worthwhile to put up with any inconveniences. The proprietor is very knowledgeable about his stock and is a real book person not someone just trying to make a dollar. Empire Books is next door and definitely worth checking out. You wont be disappointed in either. Please support local businesses!
Im going to have to say no on this one because I dont quite understand what their niche is except maybe that they are the opposite of Barnes and Nobles; so some will like them just for that reason. The store is too unorganized to search for books. They have general subjects, but nothing is correct. They are too cramped to sit around and read. If it were a bit more comfortable I might take the time to go.They are old books yet too expensive compared to not only other used book stores, but also to a new book store. On the other hand, the books are in too bad of shape to be considered collectible. If they corrected any one of those I might go again, but until then, Ill just go to McKays.
Excellent bookstore, very helpful and friendly. Sweetest dog in the world works here too.
Great place
