I went in to purchase a new shotgun and gun safe but after standing at the counter for over ten minutes no one if acknowledged that I was even standing there. I get places are short staffed but there happened to be 3 people working behind the counter and two were helping other customers and the other one was on his cell phone looking at god knows what. I get helping others and waiting your turn but for the love of god you can at least look up at me or whomever and at least say “someone will be right with you sir” vs just ignoring all in all. I’m sure Academy has plenty of money and me buying there or not isn’t going to break their bank but they need to have some training for their staff on standard customer service. I knew I should have went to Winston Salem store.

This place is a sportsmans paradise!!! Got the ammo we needed and spotted some other equipment for sporting activities as well.

Very nice clean place well stocked with products! The only thing is they are pricey with a few things other than that its a good place especially if you are looking for a specific product! Like for example spices for barbecue like we were it is great had just what we were looking for!

This was my first time there it was nice the price was great they was short on staff but I enjoy shopping there planning on going back

Still sitting in the lot writing this review because that’s how uncomfortable my encounter was.I went to customer service to return a product that was damaged ( was originally purchased yesterday) I was standing in line.. literally every person behind the customer service desk was starring at me as if I was an alien.. no one greeted… no one was asked if I needed anything. They just waiting for the young lady that eventually serviced me rung me up.About 4:22 pm October 4, 2021The rude people were as described ( Tall African American gentleman with a feminine voice ) a light skinned girl with long eyelashes ( I think she was really a cashier because after she got done gossiping she went back to her register ) and a White girl with a pony tail.My encounter yesterday was also a bad one but I didn’t leave a review for that. I will now. I asked the cashier a question about a helmet that I purchased… she don’t know the answer to my question so she went to customer service to ask a young lady.., the young lady literally looked at her as if she asked a dumb question and said something smart. When I looked at her she tried to play it off.It is very simple IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO WORK IN CUSTOMER SERVICE DON’T . Your customers are the reason you get PAID . No business= No money . Have more respect!!!! These people come to interviews and pretend that they have great customer service skills only for the managers to be fooled! Reading some of these reviews I see that I am not the only one that knows the customer service here sucks and training or firing is needed for a better environment or experience here.

This is a great place to find all sorts of sports equipment and gear for camping, hunting and fishing! The prices here seem better than other sporting goods stores that I have been to. When they are having a clearance sale, things are super cheap! I like how they also have their own brand, which is usually a lot less than the name brand item.

We bought a pair of soccer shoes and shin guards. Prices are comparable to Dick’s. Friendly staff. Organized store.

Nice store but they didnt have my size hiking boots. Web page seemed to indicate they did. Large selection of ugly shoes, but the closest fit for me in a decent overpriced hiking boot was a wide. Im not a duck. In all fairness they do have them on their website. So I ordered them online for much less from another dealer.

Back to School shopping in Guilford County where we are vaccinated and still MANDATED to wear masks. This is not Academy’s mandate, but when customers are already on edge, you would think the management would go out of their way to make sure customer service was a priority.It’s the Saturday BEFORE school begins and Academy has 2 registers open with long lines. Meanwhile 3 employees stand around a closed register talking. When a fellow customer asks an employee if they can open another register, he is told to head to the back of the line. He did and the employees continued their conversation.Customers can certainly be as big of a pain as apathetic employees, but what if… just maybe, we all started to treat others with the same amount of respect we would like to receive? Or is that piece of truth too close to God’s word for 2021!?

Went to get my son a glove and they had the exact one he wanted half price. Last one so he got a couple other small things. Nice store

Liked this place as soon as I entered the door, racks and racks of everything that is at all related to fresh, modern, latest styles. It will take you an hour to browse most of the store, they are loaded with the latest, stylish things you will find, and my opinion the prices were fair and if you had the time to look the rows of merchandise over closely you could find lots of on sale items,!i purchased two pair of shoes and were the best prices I’ve found in the area, I will be back to purchase summer clothes and would recommend this place to everyone. Poc beware, they will use simple trickery and slight words to make sure you dont get your pick of weapons. See three familys of poc get denied for different frivolous reasons. My wife was also denied, even though she came fully prepared. All of a sudden she is buying them for me. Mind you we are married and Im not a felon plus she owns others smh. Made it too obvious.

Purchased a mens mountain bike here. Store has a great selection of bikes. All the wheel sizes, several brands, and plenty of stock. If youre looking for a kids bike, they have a ton of those too. Finding a bike when COVID-19 struck equated to searching for Atlantis on Mars. Glad stock here is up again. All bikes are assembled. Purchased online but went to store to see what they offered before I made a purchase.Price shopping, Academy had this particular bike cheaper than other stores. Awesome.The needs work: The texts/emails detailing curbside pickup are great aside from the fact that the link sent to you shows the website as down for maintenance. Fix this or at least tell your customers that this isnt currently available as of today (March 6, 2021).

Ordered 2 chairs online. Waited over an hour (asking what was the problem several times). Some rude kid came out and said they ran out. You ran out of an order you told me to pick up. It took 9 days to get my money back, with them blaming my bank. Never will I darken their doors. Oh the $5 check for an apology was put in the trash.

Visited today. The staff was knowledgeable, courteous and clean. Process were not bad either.

First time shopper at Academy. Decent selection of bass rods considering the current situation IRT covid and supply issues. I found a couple Shimano rods I liked. Purchase was easy and the military discount helped also. Ill be back to shop again.

Maybe it’s company protocol. So there was a white gentleman in front of me. He purchased two handguns and ammo. After his transaction he walked out of the store with his merchandise in n hand. I(black guy) purchased handgun and ammo. Well I was able to hold my ammonia but the cashier literally walked me outside the store before he would hand me my handgun.

Always an issue with this store. wont answer the phone, ignore u in store, why r u still open?

We are in 2021 yet these big outdoor stores seem to still cater to only MEN. Womens outdoor pant section is miniscule compared to mens section not to mention that mens work boots have 2 aisles specifically for men and the womens section is atrocious.

Tonight me, my husband and kids went to this store to shop for my children. As my husband had my son try on a few different pair of football cleats 2 employees proceeded to walk up and down the aisle every time he had him try a pair on(As if he was going to steal them). When he confronted them about it they just laughed as they walked away. I have never been so hurt or disgusted in my life. We have shopped there many times. Even though he was upset he still wanted me to get shoes for my other child. I will not support a company that behaves like this. This isn’t something that I want my children to think is ok. We will never support this store again

Worst academy sports Ive ever been in. The employees were rude. An followed me an my son around not to help but like we were trying to steal something. I went to the bathroom and it was filthy an the stall door didnt lock so 2 people seen me in a very unpleasant position. I may consider seeking legal council over this. I will never go back there again.

Ordered online football cleats last night that I could pick them up, in the morning was told they didnt have anymore in stock. I should of went somewhere else. But I decided for some reason to drive there. Just to discover that they had them. To me it just sounds like a lazy team member didnt want to order pick them off the shelf. Management needs to tighten up there. I almost order them online from Nike.com, Academy needs to do better in my opinion 😅 because they were not busy when I went in there, employee in their phone on the floor . And thats probably a small portion why. Cause they will tell you they aint got it when they do.

Great place to buy just about anything

Came to Academy Sports + Outdoors after being at Sporting Warehouse Thumbs down for Sporting Warehouse. A world of difference! Spoke to Terrance in the gun department was very friendly, helpful, offered assistance and advice. Told me where I could go to get a CCW permit, explained all of the process and took his time with me making sure I was educated about purchasing a handgun. Could not have asked for a better salesperson!

Shopping in the Fishing section and had the pleasure of speaking with Daryl who is a Academy Sports team member and avid fisherman with a ton of good information. We are relatively new to fishing and had so many questions about what bait, fishing poles, line test, crank-bate vs. fake worms and Daryl had not only amazing patience with us but truly solid advice on everything. Smart mouth kid in the ammo dept. Asked if they had any of a certain brand in stock. He looked at me like I was crazy and stated that one and 2 other calibers were the best sellers and we aint got none. Came back by the same counter a few minutes later and a young girl was back behind the counter helping. She was very pleasant and asked if she could help me find something. Told her I was good, just shopping. So, the young lady made my trip to the store a little more pleasant. The young man needs to be fired.

Was left waiting over 20 min for assistance in the hunting department. Afterwards the employee did the absolute bare minimum to assist by answering questions with a single word and no explanations

There is not one person in this place to pick up a phone and answer one question. Ive tried 3 different lines/departments and waited while the phone rang out until it was just clicked off. Customer service in this place is literally nonexistent. Academy sports has been terrible every time Ive tried shopping with them. Thanks for nothing Academy Sports, except wasting my time.

Excellent place for all kinds of products. I can only speak for myself, it was my first time and it was recommended to me by a friend. I didnt walk around the whole store but if you are a out door person. Its got in going on. Plenty of people to help you out with your needs. Unlike most store stores. Have a clean organized environment for shopping. Modern technology with actual people. Not just a a whole lot of machines to take your money

Tried to find a pair of mens shoes! Oh my! Terrible! The shelves were so unorganized! We gave up! A male employee was coming down the isle I was on. He was fast approaching and I had to jump out the way and go to the end of the isle or I was going to go down. I felt like I was a bowling pin and he was a very large and heavy bowling ball!!! He never said excuse me! That was so rude!!! I gave up at this point and left the store! Wont ever go back there again! I dont recommend this store!!!!!!!
