Bonus, theres a sweet shop cat named Spooky who will help you with your selections!

The way I wasnt ready for this store 😂. Ive been trying to find a good local indie bookstore, but I dont like horror/mystery so I wasnt sure this would be it for me. The covid measures are amazing, that was the safest Ive felt shopping anywhere in so long. The vibes and people there were immaculate, I managed to find a (I think fantasy?) book Id heard good things about and a romance in the discount section I knew I loved. And candles??? Yall they have literary themed candles. Harry Potter characters, Pemberly Gardens, they had one for the book I was buying. And, most importantly, a sweet tiny man who gives little kisses. I decided to try this place because of Spooky and it was definitely the right call.

The BEST book shop ever, hands down. The set up is charming with the Halloween theme and decorating, but the best part has to be the owner Stephanie. Super sweet and had amazing recommendations. The shop itself has an incredible selection of books too. We cannot wait to go back as soon as possible!

Books Around the Corner is my absolute favorite store. It is a place I feel like I belong. The owner Stephanie is amazing at book recommendations and creating an inclusive environment for all. The book clubs are so much fun and I love the variety and getting to connect with others, especially during our recent times of lockdown staying at home. They made it safe to continue purchasing and picking up books and allowed me to still feel like a part of the community while continuing to do what I love most, reading.

Every experience I have ever had with Stephanie at Books Around The Corner, has been amazing. I always leave feeling better than when I go in. She is so passionate about her store and helping her customers finding great books they’ll enjoy. Just the interaction alone can brighten my day, and if I happen to score a book or two, that’s just icing on the cake.

Stephanie is amazing! She is kind and always remembers the kinds of books my kids like and has suggestions for them. I could fill a page worth of all the great suggestions but I’ll keep the review short and just say the store has a great selection and vibe, I will support this shop always!

It feels great to buy books from a local, independently-owned bookstore vs. Megazon & the store adds much needed variety to the retail landscape in Gresham (they also sell candles & other cool gift items.)

In a city full of fantastic bookstores, my favorite is Books Around the Corner. As a lover of horror fiction, my favorite section is often relocated to a few shelves dedicated solely to Stephen King in a typical bookstore. So imagine my delight that not only does BATC have an ACTUAL section dedicated to my favorite type of book, but they also specialize in it! And the bar doesn’t stop there, they also specialize in thrillers and sci-fi works! My first and second runner up genres respectively. And Stephanie this the kindest, most knowledgeable person. She always has a suggestion no matter how niche the ask. And if that doesn’t get you through the door, they have the sweetest shop cat named “Spooky” that will be more than happy to assist you with picking out the perfect book. I could go on and on about the book clubs, and the author events, and the community support, but I’m going to leave that to you to discover. Enjoy!

I visited because a friend gave me a gift card and Ive definitely found my new favorite book store! I made an appointment to shop in store. The owner was super friendly and helpful, and put in an order for a book I asked about that was just out of stock. Im definitely going to keep coming back!

This little bookstore is a dream come true for lovers of spooky things and fantastical books. When I first heard about it I literally screamed then spent the next couple of months dropping hints to my partner about wanting to go there. (The hints were things like hey, this place sounds awesome--lets go! and I think we need to visit that Halloween bookstore during Spooky Season because Im subtle like that.) As a Washingtonian, I couldnt just visit any time I wanted, so I patiently waited until the grand reopening to plan my trip because like Aaron Burr says in Hamilton, I was willing to wait for it.And Books Around the Corner did NOT disappoint. The new space is lovely and exactly what I hope to find in bookstores: lots of shelves crammed with books and treasures along with gifts and fun decor and touches. Stephanie, the owner, clearly worked hard to bring her Halloween vision to life and there are such fun details all around the store. It feels spooky and cozy and quite hygge. There is also a shop kitty, which just adds to the amazing ambience of the shop!! Spooky is adorable and sweet and wants to be everyones friend, so make sure you say hi to him when you visit!Books Around the Corner is a genre bookstore that focuses on fantasy and horror books, so if youre looking for general fiction you might not find that here. (But I know Stephanie would be happy to help you find a book youll be sure to love!) But as a lover of YA and fantasy I thought her selection was wide, varied and quite comprehensive. I had no problem finding at least four books on my TBR wishlist and had to resist buying even more! Theres also a lot of bookishly inspired goods like candles, stickers, pins, and tote bags, so this is a great place to check out if are looking for a perfect birthday or holiday gift. I had plenty of shut up and take my money moments while browsing the store.Living in the Pacific Northwest, I think were blessed because theres a lot of incredible independent bookstores. I have my favorites in my home state of Washington, and I have a new favorite now in Oregon. Books Around the Corner is spooky, fun, cozy and welcoming. The place feels like home...if home is a place where theres creepy decor, piles of magical books and a cute little cat! I cant wait to return!

This shop is a little farther than around the corner from my house, but its certainly a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I recently heard about this shop and even though I dont read as much as Id like to, I love books so I had to check it out.Also, my son recently decided to clear off his bookshelf to make room for new books, so I had a few books in need of re-homing. I checked the website to see if this store sold used in addition to new and they do, so I took some books with me.I was lucky to find street parking nearby and the store was easy to find. They have more than just books. They have art, gift items, and host events as well.The selection is very good for the amount of space and service is fantastic. Everything is well organized, but the owner adds a personalized touch that you just dont see anywhere anymore.I know I will be back and I hope you will check it out too!

Discovered Books Around the Corner in early 2021 and have been so satisfied with the book selection, customer service, convenience, everything! The contactless pickup has been ideal during this time with speedy turnaround time, and the owner finds little ways to surprise and delight.

Theres a punch card program for every $10, you get a stamp and after 10 stamps, you get a book up to $20 for free. Cute kids nook. They buy books, though selectively.

Great store! I ordered a book through their email & it arrived within just a few days, super quick. Great customer service & they have precautions put in place during the pandemic to keep everyone safe. I got my book by curbside pickup. Definitely would recommend this bookstore over the larger chain stores. Shop local & support small businesses!

Absolutely love this store. I was looking for some hard to find books and the owner did a search for me. When we couldnt find them, the owner suggested other stores that might have them. I appreciate the time it took to search, and the obvious love of books to suggest a competitor. I have gone back many times to enjoy the shop-talk of books, purchase a variety of materials, and to be in the Book Clubs. There is truly something for everyone here.

This little shop has won my heart. Stephanie is not only passionate about books, but shes passionate about creating community and supporting people. She is personable, flexible, and goes out of her way to help customers find what theyre looking for. Shes taken special orders for me, held books for me so I could come in person to pick them up, and shown a personal interest in me as a human being. Shes knowledgeable and engaged. This is truly a bookstore that cares and Im so happy it exists in our community.

Finally Gresham has a real bookstore! I have two children and I love that they have new and used books for all ages. The owner was incredibly helpful and I felt like she was our personal shopper since she was a librarian too. The store is smaller but you can tell its highly curated. I feel confident in anything I walk out with!

This place is wonderful!!!Not only do they have the coolest owner, they carry the best books, and they also provide a space for the community. I recently had the wonderful opportunity to have my art installed there for the month of July, and Stephanie (the owner) is so amazing to work with, professionally and personally. It makes me so happy to walk in, and I know my money is going to good people in a good place when I buy books here.I have never shown my art publicly like this, and if there are any artists who are at all nervous to go that direction, start here and it will give you the confidence and support that you need. I was visiting my daughter and walked into this adorable bookstore in downtown Gresham. The owner Stephanie was so friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable. We browsed and chatted for way longer than we had expected and walked out with an excellent selection of books for ourselves as well as gifts. I wish I had a bookstore like this around my corner!!!

Really cool place, so glad I found a bookstore in Gresham. I used to have to drive to Powells in Portland but its awesome having a place like this here. Its not a massive library but if you dont find what youre looking for they offer an ordering service for any book you want with no shipping cost and then you pick it up, which is cool!

It is such a wonderful thing to have a real independent bookstore in town. Having lived in Gresham for a number of years with absolutely nowhere to buy a book, to get recommendations from real people, and enjoy perusing shelves for new finds, I feel so fortunate that Books Around the Corner has been a part of the community for over a year now.And my goodness is this bookstore a legitimate one. From being open a bit later than most neighborhood bookstores, allowing working folks a chance to head in after work, to having so many wonderful selections that I can tell have been carefully curated, to truly being a part of the community in offering many book clubs, events, and more--this store packs so much into such cozy quarters.Highly recommend this bookstore to anybody who is nostalgic for the traditional goodness of real books.

I just stumbled upon this gem getting a cupcake at Sugar Cubed Cakes and picked a few books from the window to purchase over the phone with the owner. I didnt quite know what books I wanted but she helped me so much. It meant so much the time she took to talk to me and figure out what kinds of books I enjoy. Ive already started on one of them and LOVE it! I will order books for my whole family from them! AND they order and preorder too.

Stephanie (the owner) had curated a FANTASTIC selection of books for the store. I had a difficult time deciding what book to purchase because she had so many that are on my list to read. BATC has quickly become a Gresham hot spot. This store has brought many wonderful people together to talk about books and more. The store carries local art, lots of quirky goodies, and what they dont already have in stock theyll happily order for you. This store embodies everything right with this country. A wonderful lady, Stephanie, dreamed about owning a bookstore, and shes grown little by little and shes book wormed her way into this communities hearts. Come by. You wont be disappointed!

Books Around the Corner is now my de-facto favorite bookstore... and we live in a city with some pretty amazing bookstores. Why is it my favorite? Because I have never felt so welcome and wanted in a bookstore before. The owner, Stephanie, is doing a very good job building events and community in downtown Gresham and if you are in the area I highly suggest treating yourself and stopping by to grab your next great read.

A pleasant and excellent bookstore. The staff/owner is friendly and well educated about their stock and books in general. And should they not stock something that you want, theyre more than happy to order it for you.

After visiting the website and then the store, I decided that I had quite a few authors that were on their shelves. I brought the books in and was greeted by a very rude lady. She looked at a couple of the books ( which are in mint condition) and proceeded to tell me that they don’t deal in the genre. These were all by notable authors ( Brown, Corbin, Baldacci, etc.). She said all those types of books were donated. This is totally misleading on their website and she was very dismissive. I wouldn’t buy a thing from her and would certainly never donate my books. Instead I donated to the library.

I was ordering my books online until I found this little gem. Im pretty introverted so I dont usually like to browse but before COVID-19 I felt that the owner was totally cool with me wandering but offered a few suggestions when I asked. Now I order and preorder all my books through them and window shop and shop from their photos.

What a great find! Situated in lovely downtown Gresham, Books Around the Corner is a great bookstore. You can tell that a lot of thought went into the selection of books. Some used, some new and a good mix of paperback and hardcover.

Books Around the Corner in central Gresham is a wonderful little bookshop! It’s an attractive shop with an updated feel and comfy chairs. Owner, Stephanie, is personable and extremely knowledgeable about books (a degreed librarian!) with plenty of recommendations for visitors. I attended a book club last Wednesday there to talk about the book, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman and had a great time. I’m really impressed with all of the other fun-sounding and diverse programs on her website!
