Best breakfast sandwiches Ive found in Hartford! Solid bagels with fantastic bacon. The coffee is quite good too. Maybe not quite the same level of some of the top coffee houses in the city, but far better than most restaurants coffee. The wait can be a little bit when they get busy, but its definitely worth the wait for the quality.
I understand the city is under an irrational mask mandate, but the sanctimony by which teenage staff try to enforce it is off putting. I decided to just leave and the cashier told me to put my mask on while leaving the premises.
Best cold brew I’ve ever had, everything else I’ve tried is amazing too and the staff are the best
I keep on trying to give Blue State chances to change my mind, but Im always disappointed. Ive tried ordering online three times, twice of which it was never received despite me receiving confirmation. When I have successfully received my order, it has been sloppy and just not good. The ingredients used have gotten worse post-pandemic while the prices seem to be higher. I was a regular pre-pandemic, but just cant justify giving them any more chances.
The staffs here friendly with great coffee...such a little gem to find.
We stopped in for a quick bite and coffee. The egg sandwiches were delicious and coffee was a good breakfast blend.
The service was beyond bad. I had to have them remake my breakfast sandwich three times and they still did not get it right. A full half hour to get a simple egg sandwich and then they still got the meat wrong and forgot the add on, which they charged me for. Then the cook walked out. Definitely a avoid this place. At all costs.
My latte was very good. My bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel was fair at best. The employees were very nice. Indoor and outdoor seating. Prices were fair. I’ll definitely return for coffee.
They have good Gf sandwich bread for egg and cheese sandwiches.
Nice coffee and other options. Nice environment.
Great coffee and tea for a great cause with an awesome staff to boot.
Today Laura was alone at the Coffee because her coworker didnt show up. She is dealing extremely well with the customers. Thank you Laura! Managers, she deserves double compesation today!
The coffee was great but the food was mediocre. A sliver of cheese when asked for extra cheese.
Really good local coffee shop. Its nice to see it survive while the rest of downtown is disappearing (Starbucks around the corner and BoA permanently closed.) The setup is interesting. It looks like it used to be the lobby of a bank. The WiFi is great. 4 stars instead of 5 only because there is 1 plug in the whole place. Be sure to have your laptops charged before going or get lucky enough to get the one table near the plug.
Id get coffee everyone morning.
Nice to see this place open once more.
We really enjoyed this place, our family sit there and relax and talk to each other while enjoying a delicious warm drinks and sweets, from local producers, we also like very much the opportunity to vote for local nonprofit organizations where there will donate 2% of sales, we like the concept and enjoy the environment at this place, on top of it, we could bring our little and well behaved dogs with us as well. Totally thumbs up for this place. We visited this place on a Sunday afternoon, after a long walk in the park and we were able to find parking easy and free because weekends are free.
Spacious cafe with OK latte and other small plates. Tried pumpkin muffin n bagel with cream cheese. Server was RUDE unlike most of the cafes where they are very suggestive and welcoming in general. She could have behaved much better. Prices are fine and crowd is great. Cafe contributes to various causes as well which is mentioned on the wall as u enter.
Nice, clean and friendly place. My latte was perfectly made and bagel+lox were delicious.Great to find a trendy coffee shop open during the weekend in Downtown Hartford (gosh, this is ghost town on Saturdays and Sundays!).
Excellent service
Good local coffee. Smaller chain restaurant. Coffee is a bit expensive but the coffee is better quality than the options youll find in downtown Hartford. I would also recommend the blended mocha if you are looking for something sweet. Also the Blondie brownies are delicious.
Not as much atmosphere as some but still has the classic downtown feel to it. Drinks are good. Just needs a bit more variety.
Excellent coffee and service. Coffee shop is busy during lunch hours and interior is decent. I can see myself studying here but the interior leaves one thinking more could be done.Bring your mug and you get a discount!
Lovey coffee! The cafe smells so nice. Neither it is a very huge place, not it has comfortable seating. Their bagels are also very nice. I usually do on the go. But again, their coffee is one of the best in downtown area!
I give Blue State Coffee located at 777 Main Street, Hartford, CT 06103 FIVE STARS. I sure do enjoy a cup of Dark roasted coffee beans and BLUE COFFEE sure does have great dark roasted coffee beans. A great cup of coffee and all provided with an awesome staff. thanks BLUE STATE. 5️⃣ ⭐ ☕
Love the friendly service and the coffee is excellent. It has a welcoming vibe that brings me back as much as the coffee. Take time to endorse a cause while youre there.
Best cappuccino in Hartford,CT
Fantastic espresso! They roast their own beans and their Espresso #9 is amazing in a latte. One if the best Ive ever had. Great service. And their home made granola parfait is awesome... not like that syrupy sweet crap at *bucks.
Whats really nice about this coffee chain is how they donate to charity and people less fortunate. What a rare thing today, with lots of other companies being so greedy and caring only about their corporate profits. So thank you very much for donating to those in need. Oh and yeah..... their coffee is really good too!!
Visiting Blue State was a wonderful experience. Everyone there was absolutely lovely, from the baristas to the customers. It felt very comfortable, and I love how they donate to some great causes too. Well be moving to the area very soon, so it was great finding a new place that is very similar to our current favorite coffee spot.
Nice coffee shop in the middle of downtown and charming staffs. Place is tidy but can’t complain it in a downtown shop. Coffee and smoothies are real nice. Wish they add some juices in summer!
The coffee was great. It didnt taste burnt or old. I also loved how they had vegan bakery options; it is pretty rare to find cafes with vegan desserts. And not to mention that the decor is so homey and relaxing which helps after along day at work.
Super friendly staff. Their true blue dark roast is fantastic and their espresso drinks are authentic and well made. Not a large food menu but what they make they make well. Try the spicy ranch BLT you wont regret it.
I visited a couple of times in the past few days.Staff was mostly friendly. My drinks weren’t great, no one really knew how to make a quality cortado.Lots of seating though, and a few tables outside. The cowboy cookie was tasty.
Customer service could use a pick me up. If your having a bad day it should not be taken out on the customers. Great food and coffee otherwise.
This cafe is really good. Its nice and cozy. There is a very warm atmosphere, food is very tasty. Service is also very good.

Great coffee joint. Their staff are all friendly and knowledgeable, and their cold brew is especially good. Try their medium roast hot coffee, I prefer it to their standard dark roast. Good for a quick lunch too, sandwiches and more.
I really enjoyed my time here at Blue State Coffee. I love the latte, tasty indeed. The service was excellent and the place was well maintained.
One of the best coffee shops in CT, certainly the best in Hartford. The service is excellent and Blue State gives back to local non-profits. A must if you are into great coffee or need a great location to meet in downtown Hartford.
Lovely coffee shop with high-quality roasts in Downtown Hartford. Staff was very friendly and the location is convenient to other downtown points of interest.
Very pleasant and prompt service. Delicious soy cappucino. The only disappointment was that the attractive outdoor seating closed at 6:30. Moving inside, loud conversations were a bit annoying.
Enjoy the quick pit stop on the way home after work. Cozy, friendly and not too busy. Steady flow of customers allows staff to be very attentive!
Spacious interior. Coffee wasnt bad either. I ordered a cappuccino. My only complaint is that the coffee art in the cappuccino was lackluster. The pictures on the menu showed all sorts of shapes of leaves and swans on top of the coffee. But when I got my cappuccino, there was just a blob of foam on top. It tasted pretty good, I just wished it looked a little bit more asthetically pleasing.
They have the best cappuccino !! It’s a cosy place in the middle of downtown.
This place deserves all the attention it gets and more! They help local charities, source their ingredients from local companies, and offer a variety of plant-based and gluten-free foods and baked treats. They even offer sandwiches with vegan cheese - and thats a rarity! Hartford needs more places like this!!
Coffee is very good and in my opinion better than Starbucks. Staff has always been friendly and I love that they use products from local businesses. They invest in their communities.
Ordered a double espresso and asked for the bathroom key. Girl at the counter could have been more attentive. What I got didnt look like a double but i didnt complain and left.
Staying in downtown Hartford Connecticut and did a search for COFFEE- excellent Americano with 2 shots and a few selections of baked goods- and a simple breakfast sandwich- no frills. 2% of sales go to local charities you pick by putting a wooden coin into the jar of your choice- theatre-food -education a few different ones to choose from! Friendly service- some tables with lots of chairsOrdered a breakfast sandwich on wheat- nothing special but made on the spot so not full of fake stuff either- bit disappointing -
Great coffee. Very focused on supporting local charities. Vote where the funds for the month/week go when you get a cup of coffee. Always clean.
This is an interesting little place. Its somewhat small, and built in an old bank. Theres even an old elevator to the vault right in the store. What I really found interesting about this place was its charitable component. Apparently they donate 2% of profits to local causes. Youre given a vote token and given 4 charities to choose from. Theyre helping the community, and you get input about how that happens. Very different, but great to see.
I dig this cozy little spot. Wifi, good treats, friendly staff- right across from the bus stop. In the heart of downtown. Cute meet-up spot for a couple of friends to catch-up at. 5 stars.
One of my favorite Metro Harford coffee shops. Far better than Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks. The food and coffee are great, and I love how they offer customers the opportunity to vote for which charity they should give their charitable contributions to. Better yet, it is a Connecticut company, which makes me all the happier to support what they do. The location is an excellent one and it is beautiful inside and out.
I love the atmosphere. Its very warm & cozy. Everything is organic & local. They have a chalkboard that lets you know where they order their products from around CT, like bread, eggs, etc..
Cute lil convenient coffee shop and they are always doing community fundraisers and outreach. Love that.
Best coffee and service is very good, too. Everyone is always very nice. I have only recently started coming here and will continue!!
Pleasant little coffee shop, good vibe, comfortable chairs available, outside seating seasonal. Sustainable attitudes with local ingredients.
Coffee needs the passion of a true barista. No one knew how to do a pour over it make me a cortado... latte lacked the punch pizzazz and passion.
Great coffee, nice community support, service can be slow.
Friendly staff and great coffee. They give back to the community as well.
Sometimes, just having a nice cuppa here at Blue State can feel like a radical act of democracy...
I always have suger fee vallina latte, love it!
Best cup of coffee in Downtown Hartford hands down. Their pastries and bagels are amazing as well.
Delightful coffee shop with progressive values and excellent coffee and tea. We stopped in for cappuccino and roiboss tea, saw the impressive cold brew equipment and immediately wanted to come back! Friendly staff too.
Nice place with good, locally sourced products and friendly service.
Love this place. You will definitely know the difference in your coffee here from your Starbucks or DD. My favorite is the Macchiato, small but strong, soft on the palete very aromatic. The way coffee was intended to be enjoyed.
Everything is fresh. Service is great. Customer loyalty program allows for a free drink after every 10 you purchase.
Delicious sriracha turkey sandwich. I normally dont mess with food at coffee shops but Im glad I did this time. That sandwich was nice and tight. A couple places nearby were closed cause it was Sunday and theyre cowards.
So excited to have a quality roast and espresso shop downtown! I will most definitely be getting my coffee and espresso from here over Starbucks! The space had all the nice touches you would find in a Blue State cafe, with a real emphasis on local.I ordered an espresso. The service was very friendly and attentive. I Sat at the bar stools surrounding the espresso machine. My drink was good, the crema was thick and pleasant in texture. It was consistent to shots Ive had at their other locations.I give Blue State Coffee, Hartford 4 stars because I only had the espresso. They have a lot more to offer. Hopefully I will be able to add the 5th star to my rating after other visits. Very impressed!
Best chai latte Ive had yet! Perfect combination of spicy and sweet.
Very good coffee (but a bit pricey). Ill be back.
Great coffee! Excellent service and selection.
Good latte, knowledgeable and friendly baristas on the ground floor of the building I worked in 30+ years ago, unfortunately, it feels like the ground floor of that building with doors to the elevator lobby opening off the shop. It has a decidedly unfinished feel to it, but Im hoping it will improve as the rental units above are finished and occupied. Well see.
I also loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, it was super cute and heartwarming!
Great coffee (even sells their own beans by the bag), great food, and helps support admirable local organizations.
I ran into to this business in New haven-Yale and once I noticed they were on Main st- Hartford, I had to walk in and try a macchiato--Superb!, definitely a nice substitute than large corp. Starbucks. and no lines (8:15AM). They also give back 2% of its proceeds to local causes!
Staff is always very friendly and super nice. Coffee is spot on, and the food is not half bad. I started to make this my coffee spot instead of dunkin.
Excellent service. Great coffee. Nice ambiance.
Iced vanilla lattes are great! I was impressed by their support for the local community both in donations and use of local products.
It was great! Really good Mocha!
They make a good cup of tea and coffee. Very serene space as well especially in the evening.
Best place of coffee at CT. Nice people, excellent service and good quality.
Take your work with you, grab some corner seat . Enjoy coffee and work all day long uninterrupted
Nice place to sit down. Coffee could be better
Nice place, good non-dairy smoothie choices.
One of my favorite coffee houses. Good service consistently
Great coffee and espresso drinks. I love not having to explain what a Cortado is when I order.
Great brews, great food and great service. They are also one of the few businesses downtown that are open on Sunday, so they get extra points.
Great food and coffee. Lots of space!
Awesome lattes cappuccinos and a variety of teas. Very nice staff and comfortable atmosphere.
Fave cafe spot.... Amazing staff
They play decent music and have wifi and good coffee
Love the little spot. Gluten free choices, yay! Yummy Chai latte! Friendly.
Everytime I come in the staff is more than welcoming. To make it even better they make a mean latte! Id rather get my coffee and snacks from this buisness than the Starbucks a block away. Not to mention Blue State supports local food and gives back to the community.
