It took me 6 months to get a pottery bowl back. When I brought it in, it was 2 pieces, a clean break, each piece in bubble wrap. I got back a total disaster, numerous breaks and cracks. Fortunately, it didnt have high monetary value but sentimental. It has ended up in the trash. But rather than being honest, I got a thats what I had to work with. A total lie, I know what I brought in.
Pricey and takes time but brilliant work. Owners are funny and nice.
This place is amazing!!!! The two brothers that own this business helped me when I broke a glass figurine that was about 2 1/2 inches tall. After they worked their magic, my client couldn’t tell where they fixed it.Thank you so much, JoAnn
It was my first time here, when I pulled up to the drive way, I notice a man cursing at a women, I wasn’t aware it was the owner I found it so unprofessional and it made nervous to even want to do business there so I quickly left because I didn’t want to get yelled at.
These guys are amazing. Beautiful work. No matter if your object is priceless or sentimental they do it right the first time. It takes them awhile to repair your pieces but worth the wait
I brought in an old, broken candelabra. I had attempted to repair it myself but the glue I used turned yellow and I could do nothing about the missing chips. It really looked beyond repair. When I picked up the parts they repaired-a bobeche and an arm- I could not believe it. I could not tell that they had ever been broken. They did a fabulous job on a very difficult repair. I was thrilled. These two brothers are kind, funny and do beautiful, expert work at a very reasonable price.Thank you both!
This place dose great work and the owners are interesting fun guys highly recommended had a piece that was broken and they fixed it really saved me so I was able to resell it with no trouble
River Oaks glass did an absolutely perfect repair of a ceramic item that we purchased in South Africa. It had special significance for us and we couldnt be happier with the repair. If you are in a hurry and dont care about quality, use superglue. If you want premier quality go by River Oaks Glass
Would have given 5 Stars but had to listen to their stand up routine. The repair work to an antique lamp was exceptional. If you are not in a rush and want exceptional craftsmanship this is the place.
Ed and Tim are downright amazing !I inherited my grandmothers Tiffany Style Chandelier. She had converted it to electric from gas. I used it proudly and delightedly for many years.During a move it got destroyed.. the delicate brass strips were broken or bent and even one panel of glass panels was broken. The guys reunited me with my treasure...in utterly fine condition.Tim and Ed are not only extremely fine craftsman, but a hoot to do business with. From the first moment we spoke on the phone until we picked up our repaired light..it was pure deLIGHT! Look no longer...you have found the company that will create or repair your treasure..and make you very happy.deanne
They did excellent work on my lladro figurines. They were broken in a few places and you can’t even tell where anymore.
Great people and fantastic repairs.
It only takes a phone call to realize that all the bad comments for this place are completely legit. Extremely rude over the phone. Thanks for saving me the trip
DO NOT TAKE YOUR VALUABLES HERE! This was the worst business Ive ever been to. I was told my two Swarvoski crystals would take two weeks to repair (the repairs were very, very minor) and when I called to check on the progress after the two weeks were up, I never got an answer or a return call so I called the next day and the same thing – no answer and no return call. So I went in there to check and was told the repair was going to take 3 months and if I wanted them fixed any sooner I should take my business somewhere else. I agreed. Thats when everything went wrong. They couldnt find my pieces and I told them I wasnt going to leave without them. I was yelled at and was told that my Swarvoski was stupid and cheap and they wouldnt have done anything to them. The other owner came in on his day off and looked for a short time and couldnt find them, either. I was told to come back on Monday. I ended up leaving and got a call that they were found. I went back and got them and will definitely find somewhere else to take them that is more professional and trustworthy.
These guys are artists who repair fragile and expensive objects. If you want Binswanger service take your object d art to Binswanger and see what happens. I have used this place several times and it takes a while to do the work the quality of the work is beyond reproach. If you need fast service just admit to your wife that you broke it but you know there is a place that can fix it.
They were very unprofessional and need to scale back their jokes. They waist more time with unnecessary nonsense to where I don’t want to do business with them. Why do they care what kind of car I drive while acting like comedians with me and the customer before me? No respect for people’s time. They totally turned me off. I used their pricing as an excuse to not use them. Annoying !!!
Quick service, very professional
Worst place in all of Houston. I think because they have River Oaks in their name they believe they can rip people off. They know less about repairing glass items than you can learn on the internet. They lie, they joke too much, they are a joke of a business. They want payment in advance. I cant imagine leaving something that is valuable to me in their incapable hands.
Unprofessional, insensitive, and overly prideful! I know he was TRYING to be funny, but his jokes were actually pretty insulting.. and he didn’t seem to take me seriously when I was asking if they could fix some sentimental crystal (assuming I couldn’t afford their work). He just kept saying “you’re screwed.”
I think its possible this fellow, Ed Linehan, does fine work, but sadly, Ill never find out first hand. On December 8th I brought him a bobble-head that is uncommon and valuable to me. It was broken at both ankles. He said he could fix it and accepted it for repair. He wanted full payment, up front, $325. I readily gave him the money. While in his shop, Ed and his brother bantered with each other in a wacky manner that reminded me of Click and Clack, the Tappick brothers of Car Talk fame. In fact, I suggested to them that they try stand-up. They were funny and good-natured and I left feeling pretty good about my visit with them. On February 18th I dropped in on their shop with a friend who was visiting me from Canada. They hadnt called me yet to say the job was finished, but I figured I could show my friend the doll even if it wasnt fixed yet. He shares my interest in this particular type of artifact, and I wanted him to see it before he left town. It developed that the doll wasnt ready, and moreover couldnt be retrieved without a hassle for Mr. Linehan as it was in storage. Not a problem for me. I left content that Mr. Linehan would call me when he completed the job. A week later, he did call - and left me a voice-mail message to come pick up my bobblehead doll. Without explanation, he said that he would not repair it and would refund all my money. Before I left his shop on February 18th, he regaled me with a bit more of his outrageous wit, and while he was more raunchy than on my previous visit, I laughed and took none of his comments seriously. But after his call, I wondered if I was supposed to take his comments seriously. They included a few crass references to his youthful sexual exploits, a reference to the Pope as the leader of the one true religion, and a reference to President Barack Obama as Buckwheat. In retrospect, the latter comment was followed up with a decidedly unhumorous insistence that he hated that guy, a comment which didnt sink in until my friend expressed incredulity after we left. When I first heard the Buckwheat crack, I thought of Eddie Murphys hilarious Buckwheat routine on Saturday Night Live and I guess I didnt really absorb that emphatic hate statement until later. While my Canadian friend was appalled, I minimized the comment as wacky wit gone a bit off track. In any event, I was perfectly prepared to separate Mr. Linehans craftsmanship from his personality.Ed Linehan never uttered a word of explanation to me when I returned for my doll and refund, nor did I ask for an explanation. He did not offer an apology to me for reneging on his agreement to repair my doll after keeping my money and property for nearly two-and-a-half months. While I dont doubt that Mr. Linehan can do excellent repair work, I left his shop for the last time Saturday. He was simply unprofessional. If a person isnt professional in his business dealings with the public, its caveat emptor when it comes to entrusting him with your money and your property. I suppose the best spin here is that he did me a favor.
Stay away! I had the same experience as previous reviewer. An out-and-out BIZARRE experience.
These guys are nuts. They think they are funny but sadly, they are not good business people at all. Truth is they are NOT the only game in town, find an alternative, will never return!
