This is one of the best German Cars automotive repair shop in Houston area.My wifes Beetle had a sensor that needed replacement, even dealer couldnt figure out what was wrong with it! The technicians at Key Auto did fantastic job figuring out the issue and fixing it.Prices and rates are as equal to the dealerships but totally worth it in my opinion.Highly recommend this shop for any Volkswagen related work! Took my Audi A4 there for a clutch replacement. They quoted a price that I came to realize was almost double what others later quoted me. Additionally, they requested to do a diagnostic eval on the car which I said wasnt necessary but left it up to their professional opinion. After I told them thanks but no thanks they charged me 130$ for a diagnostic fee, not for pulling the transmission and looking at it, for driving it briefly. My conclusion is that these mechanics are untrustworthy with probably predatory practices. Would not recommend using them.

Key Auto Werks is the first honest auto repair shop that I have encountered in Houston. I have lived in Houston for about 25 of the last 40 years. During that time, I have gone to a dozen or so mechanics when I didnt have the equipment or the expertise to do a repair. Many times, I have discovered them cheating me and/or telling me that work needed to be done that wasnt needed. The most recent was a visit to a dealership that told me, amongst other things, that the engine air filter needed to be changed even though I had replaced it a couple of months earlier. When I took my car to Key Auto Werks, I thought I had a big problem. They could have taken advantage of me but fixed the problem within their diagnostic charge ... uncommon honesty, based on my experiences.

I was having some issues with my car and when I brought it in they knew immediately what was wrong and were trying to work with me to help me understand and future diagnose the problem. Later, their support team proactively searched for coupons in order to reduce the cost of my service even further.Not only was the job completed before the original time agreed, they made sure to give me updates along the way so I wasnt felt out-of-the-loop. Had a problem with the alternator light coming on sporadically when the car was off causing the battery to drain. My mechanic was having trouble pinpointing the cause. Key Auto Werks is great! They provide excellent service and are completely honest about repairs. I took them my 1999 Honda Accord for major repairs a few times within a 6 mo period. The car was literally falling apart toward the end of its life. The mechanic at Key called me on my third visit to advise me that itd be better for me to get a new car rather than paying them to fix the car since there were other things that might soon break. That same mechanic called me a week later to see if he could answer any of my questions in my car search, and he gave me some good advice about the extended warranty offered by many dealerships. I appreciated this help immensely and I would gladly take my car to this shop again. My fiancee has also been getting her car serviced at Key for years. The first time I took my car to the shop the front desk person noticed she was in the car with me. He recognized her and added a $50 credit to her account for referring me to their business. I thought this personal touch inside the big city was amazing and it really made an impression!

Key Auto Works was terrific. They gave me an appointment to change my oil and check the AC very promptly after I called. They discovered a few other problems and called me to explain and give cost estimates so I could authorize the work. The work was completed much faster than I expected and the estimates were accurate. I will go back next time I need service.

Very good with European cars. BMWs, Benz and Jags. You can compare service prices with the dealership and theyre usually lower. The rental car place around the corner gives you a discount if your car is here.

I have used Key Auto Werks for about 12 years for all our foreign cars (and even a domestic car) and have always found them to be honest, reliable and fair. They will tell me what HAS to be done and what only needs to be closely monitored, even if that means postponing or even losing some repairs entirely long-term. Their courier service is cordial and convenient. They are not the most inexpensive shop I have ever been to, but its worth every penny in the long-run.

It was around 2 PM in the afternoon and I called Key Auto Werks. They told me that I could go ahead and bring my car in right away. Impressed by the call I received to review cost of oil change, the two problems, remedies, and associated costs. Work was completed as promised, and was extremely cost competitive. Upon picking up, had an opportunity to visit with the owner. Immediate reactions were honest and personable. Key Auto Works has a new customer!

Ive taken my cars to Key Auto Werks since 1999. Though I appreciate that they warranty their work for one year, Ive found theyve always done the work correctly the first time. Even for minor service appointments I like how theyll always spend the extra effort to ensure all fluids are topped off, tires are pressurized, and the interiors vacuumed. I also appreciate how they always take the care to interact with me courteously, professionally, and to explain what they found and what they did, even when I can clearly see that they are having a busy day with other customers.

George and his team of automotive professionals have been taking care of my BMWs for nearly 20 years. I’ve always found them to be professional and accurate in both diagnosis and repair. Also, I’ve always found them to be very honest.

I told them my car year, model, etc. over the phone to make sure they had the right headlight in stock to replace. I even told them it was a halogen bulb, not an LED. When I brought my car in, they took it to the back to look it over and confirm they had the parts. They came back and told me my car needed a xenon LED headlight, and they would need to keep it for a 1/2 day to remove the bumper to replace the bulb. I went to OReilly auto parts down the street, bought the $15 correct halogen bulb, and replaced it myself in 30 minutes. I had hoped with all of the good reviews that I could trust this place, but there is no other explanation for how they treated me, except that they were clearly trying to take advantage of me to make an extra buck before the holidays.

I love this place. I am not someone who has or probably will ever dedicate the time to learning about vehicle maintenance. Theyre always extremely nice at Key Auto Werks, not just polite but genuinely friendly. They explain car problems to me in a very appropriate manner - they check to find out my current level of understanding and then explain from there. Ive been taking my car there for 2 years now and appreciate that they never speak to me condescendingly or rush through the car talk. I always feel that their prices are fair (and all accounted for) and there are never any surprises. Car repairs can get testy fast, its definitely a stressful moment for the car owner to be handed a bill - especially when they dont really understand what was done. I cant count the number of times Ive taken it into a shop and they come of $2,000 or more item that they claim need attention when I know they dont because I keep meticulous records on all the work Ive had done since I bought the car in 2002. This did not happen at Key Auro Werks, I was given an honest and complete review of my car and what was needed. Turned out to be under $600 and this was for the 120,000 mi maintenance and oil and filter changes. So glad I have a trustworthy shop to take my car to!

I usually dont write reviews, but I was very disappointed in this shop. I dont have a lot of time off work and the one day I have off I planned to take my car in to replace my shocks. I do my homework and due diligence and schedule an appointment with Key Auto Werks. I buy the parts I need in preparation. When I get there, they say they dont install outside parts! To my dismay, they offer no help. Even with such a short lived interaction, it was a huge waste of my time! Very disappointed in this shop. Will never come back to for service again.

I have had my cars serviced at Key Auto for over 20 years, and never had any problems--although my cars have had a few. One of them was flooded five years ago and it was a toss-up whether to write it off.Sometimes though, the news is not what you want to hear. Owning a car is a breeze with them to service it.When I bought my last car it was two years old. They checked it out for me before I bought it, and told me to replace a front tire soon. I waited two weeks because it was inconvenient, and wound up having it blow-out in Austin. Now I listen better to what they say.

Ever since Scott Bish died back in July 2014, I went back one time. The owner is the reason I never went back. He never recognized me when he would see me, never thanked me for my business, and just should stay in his office. The techs are very good, and Jake is okay, but real young. I spent over $10,000 since 2007 there. So long.

I have been bringing my 2000 BMW 528 to Key Auto Werks since 2005. My most recent visit explains why. Before going into the long story, I will give you the reasons ... Scott explains what needs to be done and why, what can wait and be monitored and why and flat out what does not need to be done. I drive from Sugar Land to his place ... long drive but to me worth the trip. Now for my most recent visit. I dropped my car off and asked them to check it out and let me know what needed to be done. Scott (I am pretty sure he is the owner) called to let me know what they found. My experience with other places has always been them telling me that I needed to get A, B and C done. Scott told me that I had a minor issue here and there, that I could fix it if I wanted the car back to new condition or they could just monitor the situation ... if I saw X happening then I should come back for the repair. I am using the letters in order to avoid writing a very long, boring review. Scott them asks me - what the hell did you hit? -- (trailer hitch at 70 a few months back) ... and, Scott tells me that the car is not really safe to drive due to cracked frame. They don’t do that type of work but he can send it to a body shop they use. Here is the point ... all of the work that he does he is basically me I really don’t need to get it done but the work that needs to be done is business for someone else. And, this is what separates Key Auto Werks from about every other place I have done business with. Scott not only has the ability to explain things so that normal people can understand but he goes out of his way to do so. Now, he talks extremely fast so you have to pay very close attention ... I think he must have been an auctioneer in another life. Scott explains what needs to be done and why, what can wait and be monitored and why and flat out what does not need to be done. I just moved here from Colorado. Im a 22 year old female brought my car in for an oil leak and check engine light.... I was told it was 680 for the oil leak... needed to redo the system. then 1900 for a catalytic converter!! said it wouldnt pass inspection and people from my state dont fix this. i called elsehwere and they told me i was being scammed. then they have a shuttle service which they didnt give me at 3 in the afternoon.... said it was done for the day and the boss said no... I walked 40 minutes to get my car and the shuttle guy was dropping someone off!!!!! that is terrible customer service and an awful business owner!!! take your car here if you want to pay top money! oh and if you dont pay dont even think about using their shuttle service!!

I am a recent addition to the Key customer base. Initially decided to give them a try after reading positive reviews, and am happy I did. They have helped me with a high mileage Toyota 4Runner and a low mileage but very old VW Passat. They have always thoroughly explained the issues and my options, and have never tried to up-sell me on additional parts or service. Services performed for me: Brake job, spark plug change, MIL troubleshooting, and fluid/lube replacements (the last is bigger deal than you might think as the 4Runner is 4 wheel drive with limited slip differential).

We dont recommend this place. They are the most dishonest people we have ever seen. The job was for removal of double exhaust muffler on an M5 and install OEM muffler that we had provided. the labor shouldnt have cost what it did.

I dropped my car off due to moaning sounds while turning. I was told I had a cracked steering rack. The estimate was high as expected to fix it. I spoke with Eric, who was incredibly kind and helpful. However, he did not do the repairs on my car to my knowledge. After waiting to hear anything about my car, I was informed that the part would take 2 weeks to come in to fix the steering. Additionally I was told a used part was found that would work. I agreed because I did and do not have the time to be without a car for 2 weeks. I called multiple times for updates. I was told the car would be ready on Monday. No one called me to tell me that during the alignment process the turbo inlet cracked. I was told the car was stalling and needed additional work. OK, do I have a choice? I picked up the car yesterday and it drove fine for about 30 minutes. As I picked up my son today, the car started to make clonking noises when going over any bump. Sounded like pieces of metal clanging together. Then it started to misfire and went into limp mode. I called and was told whatever the issue now is unrelated to what took place there. Barely made it home. Unbelievable! Now I have a car stuck in limp mode. Unacceptable. Beware!
