This is a great little bookstore. There arent enough stores like this still around. It has a nice selection and a wonderful ambience. The service was perfect too. I spent an hour or more inside. Its a hidden gem.

By far one of my favorite bookstores in Houston! Prices are amazing, the staff is always friendly. You really cant beat this place. The only issue is that you can never guarantee what theyll have in stock since its mostly used books. That being said if you come in with an Im just gonna buy an interesting book mindset youll never be disappointed. I always find something good here. Highly recommend this place

It was a great book store in the neighborhood. No complaints. Sadly this store has closed its doors and I ended up finding out the same way I did upon arrival like, with the Rice Village location. The whole lot is closed off. No more HPB, no Emergency Room, Mattress Firm, and Papa Johns. All gone

Great staff. They are very helpful. These books werent on the shelf and they looked for them in the carts for me.

This is my old & #1 hang out. Ive been coming to this location for years and Im never disappointed with the selection of books/DVDs and cds.Plus the staff are always friendly and with a smile. There always on there feet to help anyone.This place has excellent lighting and a rather Antique looking style, that separates this store from the other Half Price Books.Theres always something for everyone at Half Price Book.

My favorite place to feed my love of reading and learning! One of my dreams is to have a massive collection of books, and I feel that many of them will come from here.Dont miss the rare books and first editions section!

Good selection of used books in all genres and reasonably good shape at very reasonable low prices usually equal to or less than the e-book price.My reading enjoyment is enhanced by reading under normal light an actual book that I can hold and annotate versus using a sterile e-book reader that gets heavy to hold and gives you eye strain after an hour.

I have loved this location fondly for most of my adult life. It is no exaggeration when I say that this location is so important to the city and the neighborhood. The other locations are quite far away and not easily accessible to people without a vehicle. I was heart broken to hear that it was closing down. I spent many hours browsing, reading, and shopping here. Thank you so much to the staff over the years for their excellent service.

They are boxing up books to relocate. A very helpful clerk not only led me to the right spot but also found me other works by Gaiman. She was amazing. And then a reduced price on another book made my day.

This is the first Half Price Books book store that I have visited. Its on Westheimer in Houston, TX. I recommend this store to anyone looking for a great price on books. Remember there may be millions of dollars hidden in the pages of a book, so pick up one, two or a few and discover for yourself.

Yea, this is like book worm heaven with more books than I can ever read, very nice and quick customer service and all the books on computer so you dont have to wander around searching all day. And lots of other knick knacks to buy and make it even more interesting. I can pick up my favorite tom Clancy, a martial arts book, conspiracy theories, anything I am interested in they got it and the prices are always a bargain too.The only thing I sort of dont like is sometimes they make you take off your back pack like you want to steal, but sometimes they dont, it depends on who is working so it feels like profiling to me . Since I ride the bus I dont like leaving my back pack anywhere

Very efficient service in purchasing used books (limit is 3 bags). Older books will not receive high offers but the store does have a donation program. Great selection of current books and journalling supplies for purchase.

First time at this location and its a really cute one! unfortunately did not have the book i was searching for but still a huge lovely collection to look at :). thankful for everybody wearing their masks as well.

Every time I go to this location the staff is so nice,polite and helpful. Its never the same bookstore twice! Always getting new collections. Only con... some of the prices have increased quite a bit on little gifts, novelty toys and the comics and graphic novels. :/

Half Price books always has good deals and great finds. The staff is great and helpful whenever you are looking for something specific. Even if they dont have it, they can tell you where or how to get it! Bonus: you can see a bit of the skyline there which is great if you have someone visiting from out of town

Well, I called on Monday and asked if they would buy my used DVDs, yes bring them in, and we’ll give you the best price. I informed them I had a box with 221, and a smaller box which I hadn’t counted yet. Yes bring them in! So on Wednesday afternoon, they only buyback between 12 and 5 pm, at about 2:30 I arrived took the largest box in first, and was informed they only buy 70 from a customer daily, but they would process these and make an offer. This box had 211 DVDs, I got $18.23, an average of $0.08639 EA! My second box of 80 would have to come back another day, not what I was told by phone!So my trip to sell my used DVDs netted me $18.23, and my gas down to Montrose and back to West Houston offset and netted me to about a nickel for EA. I decided the second box in my trunk would be donated to the Salvation Army, who picks up! If I’m going to give something away I’d rather give it to someone or some charity who appreciates them!

This HPB had a great selection of books. Found a few business books that I could not find in any other. The staff was helpful and attentive.

Most helpful staff, friendly, funny. My favorite HPB in Houston since Rice Village closed...very sad about that. Its literally a place I can spend 3 hours and not realize an hour went by. Only thing, records are priced way too high. I find them online for half usually. Sometimes a few squeeze through. Instead of half price, its double lol. An A++ Collectible Book, Art, DVD section.....and dont miss the clearance in the back! Its worth a look I PROMISE!

This place is so cool 😎. Books, movies, vinyl, neat trinkets like keychains/book markers .... lots of stuff. They also buy vinyl and movies.

They have the best deals on music CDs. Found prime shape Van Morrison The Philosophers Stone double CD set for $9.00 ! 2 CDs of unreleased tapes.

This is a busy store, and Ive found some great bargains here. As for selling your items back, dont expect too much. Given age, condition, and what HP has in its inventory--they check Amazon for online pricing--you will get some offer. At best you might get one dollar per book, usually its much less. The newer the book, the more popular it is, the more you might score. AV items is a real crapshoot esp. for DVDs. Records do well, but again condition is key. Overall HP will lowball you most of the time. I dont bother selling items to them now. They will not bargain with you. I brought in Grant by Ron Chernow, mint condition even had plastic wrap on book jacket, hardback--their offer was less than 2.00! On the shelf they had one copy for 18.00, that is quite a spread, and mine was far superior copy. For some reason they keep lots of junk in the discount area. I shop there 98% of the time. It needs a regular weeding.

I brought in some books to sell and I saw how packed with boxes the store was. I had the same kind of books sold at a different half-price books and they at least offered me $10 but this store only offered me $2. What a waste of gas to drive to this place.

Great place to find good deals on used books. The shelves are actually organized! Places to sit and read or whatever. They also buy books. Bring yours in and they will evaluate them. They will make you an offer and if you take it, you walk out with cash. Nice people.

Criminal. I understand the point of a business is to make money but this place is absurd. I brought in a box of 10-15 books, a mix of everything from a $150+ engineering textbook (which they sell similar books in store for $10-30) to fiction novels and a few classics. I was offered $1.44 for the items after waiting in the store for 20-30 minutes. Not worth the time to have them turn around and sell those same books for 100x as much. Next time I will be donating them to Goodwill.

Very crowded and high traffic location. Seemed like an urban Public library... Many homeless seeming people crowding aisles around the store reading books and sleeping. Many of the books I wanted were not in stock and parking was a mess. I will avoid this location at all times in the future.

Half Price Books is a great bookstore! There are many books for adults and kids, records, CDs, movies, and cool games and journals. The staff is very friendly and helpful when looking for books. Im not sure if they are closing down like another location nearby but I hope they dont close!

Been coming to this location for years. Nothing like a good book at a good price just minutes away from good food.

I love turning in my old books and magazines are good to get some cash and it saves the environment and plus you find a whole bunch of good stuff for presents or myself at a good price!

Man, I just love coming here! With my friends or by myself, I can always just hop off the bus and get me some discount books. Its pretty close to the bus line like I mentioned, so thats a plus. Its also very great with friendly staff and its peaceful, right next to a bubble tea place. They range from games to vinyl records and I was never unsatisfied. 5 stars.

Amazing, great place to look for textbooks. Some years ago I took all my nursing books and roughly got about $12, for what I nearly paid $4,000. I laughed and let them go, thinking someone would make good use of them.Last week, I was so desperately looking for a book that so happened to also be used in law school and therefore is very hard to find. I must say that the book runs for over $220, I found 3 copies of used started $115, which was HALF Price books. I called my closed store to arrange to order and the store pickup.... I did not wanted to risk loosing the book. When I was to pay the actual price was .......$9.99....... yes like in $10 dollars. With the shipping $13.What goes around comes around. Last time, maybe someone needed my books, today I so needed THIS book.Thanks HALF PRICE for my so needed book 😁

This place is well organized. The staff is welcoming and helpful. Its easy to find. Theres also lots of parking around the building. Lets not forget the most important part, books wont break the bank here

I called the Half Price Books in Webster about selling some of my teacher reproducible books. They told me they probably wouldnt sell. I called the Half Price Books store on Westheimer. The sweet and helpful woman on the phone said, Bring them in. Well see what we can do. I hope to go tomorrow. 😎

This cozy book store has many hidden finds. The books, movies, and games here are reasonably priced. The cookbook section has some incredibly well-priced books to take home encapsulating a wide variety of techniques and different types of cuisine.

Great selection of books and great variety in the movie department! I always come here to get books on Japanese Culture and History, and the books are always reasonably priced! If for some reason they don’t have a book I am looking for, they will help me find it at another store or will have it shipped to their location. Staff is always friendly and professional! Large, varied selection of both new and used books. Staff is friendly enough but seems overworked, have never had anyone ask me if I need any help (dont really want it unless I ask for it, but it makes me feel appreciated and that the staff is approachable in the event I do need it). Cashiers are friendly and dont comment on your selection, unless you want to discuss it of course, but again, normally pretty busy, so not going beyond yes, I enjoyed that book or no, I havent read it. Decent selection of vinyl as well as board games, videos, and other miscellaneous items.

Great bookstore with lots of other interesting finds available such as games, music, and movies. It’s clean well organized, and has friendly employees ready to help. It can get very busy during sales and parking can sometimes be a little difficult in the small parking lot.

Located in a nice and trendy area. Great place to purchase whole sale items. However, I would recommend when a customer sells back items in great condition, there should be an increase in cash back.

I took my daughters in and saw an array of assortments. Love the wide collection; but in particular I love that on Monday I found a book for $9.99 in Dallas that Amazon was going to charge for $11 more. Love the referral.

Though Half Price Books is a chain book store this is a unique, varied, and special place. The store offers a huge variety of literature from $1 childrens shorts to antique publications sold for a steal at up to thousands of dollars. Industrial orange bricks and aged concrete line the walls while patrons as strange and unique as the literature pour over seemingly infinite selections. Books, books, and more books, crowd shelves and isles as you walk past half expecting to see Hemingway at his desk typing on an old Underwood. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and well....... cool. I cant wait to get back there.

Always a great place to pick up a good book. Really enjoy the nostalgia section and their extensive Law and History section.Customer service has always been very nice and I have seen them being very patient with difficult customers.

Pretty good place to go for your booking needs. Especially beneficial when they have a 20% off store-wide sale! It is a great place to find gifts! And if they dont have what youre looking for, the adult store next door certainly will!

The store is a hidden jewel in Midtown. It has a huge collection of classic and new books, puzzles, DVDs, music records, and educational toys, and many more. Most of the stuffs are discounted and very well-priced.They also buy used books.

I can never walk into this store without buying something. I have found some of my favorite books and games here. The staff is so incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. This bookstore and the people inside are absolute gems.

Going to Half Price Books is like taking a vacation and going everywhere you could ever think of all at once. At Half Price Books I have traveled the world, explored the universe, and gone back to school through all the educational books they have. Aside from all of this, just walking through the doors at Half Price Books is like walking into a time machine where you can travel backwards or forwards in time. This bookstore is one of the most amazing places on earth and I highly recommend that you go there. Just keep an eye out for all the low-flying UFOs and other mysterious creatures that youll find there.
