Spent 1600 dollars there for 2 pairs of reading glasses. They sent me the wrong color. I called asking for them to return my call so we could do an exchange. Never heard back from them. Pretty disappointed at the service. Wont recommend them. Dont waste your time or $. Regreted so much.

I purchased a pair of glasses on 1/3/20. I liked them in the store but once I got home I wasnt crazy about them. They cost $450. That was not including the lenses ($220). I brought them back today, because I was not happy with them, and I wanted a refund. I was told that I could have a store credit but I could not have a refund. It was my fault for not asking about the return policy before I made the purchase. The sales clerk should have stated there wouldnt Be a refund issued but a store credit if you were not happy with what you purchased.He was very nice when I went in to purchase my glasses but had a stank attitude when i asked him to return my glasses. I will not shop here again.

Been getting my eye wear here for the last 6 years. Ben is excellent on helping find the best pair of glasses that suit my face shape and Evan is a phenomenal optometrist. I recommend this eye glass shop to everyone!

Ive been going to Spectacles for almost 20 years and they always give amazing eye exams and help me pick the best frames! I cannot recommend Evan, Ben, and the rest of the crew highly enough! They are fantastic!

Great place! Went for an eye exam and contact fitting and was so happy with the results. The staff were knowledgeable and courteous. And Dr. Mapes was attentive, listened carefully to my questions and had me out the door with much better vision than I entered with. If you need a new eye doc or just a new pair of glasses this is the place to go.

Optometrist Evan Mapes is great - excellent care and service - but he should hire a new sales team. I have been a repeat customer, happy to pay a significant premium for the service, but have now been treated rudely on multiple occasions by one of his sales persons and wont be returning anytime soon

Have been buying glasses here since 2001 and have been getting glasses since about 1964. This is the best place I have ever experienced as to chosing glasses that will look good on me. Dont understand the negative reviews by anonymous Google users but guess their anonymity speaks for itself.

I never write reviews, but I have to tell my Spectacles story. It’s long but worth reading. I went to Dr Evan Mapes in October. I’d been to other Montrose eye docs but none could fix my vision. I was frustrated and annoyed. I had constant headaches and variable vision. I had my exam with them. He got me seeing great but was concerned with my headaches. He wanted wanted to send me for blood work. I thought he was crazy. But I saw all his awards, credentials and news articles about him on the wall in the exam room so I caved and took his advice. Before the results came back, I picked up my glasses and I could see! Blood work results showed I was diabetic!?!?! Crazy! My doc said Dr Mapes probably saved my life, or at least greatly extended it. Wow. I told the good doc and he requested I return in 3 months to look at my eyes again. I trusted him now and returned in early February. We talked. I gave him my report on my diabetes. He checked my vision again and told me that as my blood sugar normalizes my eyes can/will change. He was correct again. He instructed his staff to change my glasses to my new correction at no charge. Really? What a great eye doc and optical shop. They’ve earned my trust and loyalty forever. I’m now a controlled diabetic and I see 20/15 with his prescription. Dr Mapes is amazing. His staff is amazing. My glasses are beautiful and I can see without any issues day or night. Every week I have several people stop me on the street and compliment my glasses. They’re from France and I let them pick them out for me. No regrets. I look good, see good and feel good all because of Dr. Mapes and Spectacles. I can’t recommend their services enough. I’m returning next week to order a second pair of glasses and get new lenses in my sunglasses. I’m excited to see them again. 5 stars isn’t enough in my opinion. Thank you thank you thank you. Its such a relief to find Spectacles! I spent months going all over Houston to find unique eyeglasses. Finally my oncologist recommended Dr. Mapes and Spectacles on Montrose. OMG----I wanted one of everything. Such a great selection of European frames. I ended up buying wood frames (Dolpi) and my sunglasses are IC Berlin. I am so happy and they have a customer for life. Dr. Mapes is amazing. His staff was so helpful and they really know what they are doing. I see why everyone goes there!

I have been going to Spectacles on Montrose for so long that I dont even remember the exact year. It was 1999 or 2000, when I first walked in to buy a pair of sunglasses and have been a faithful customer ever since. The boutique is elegant and the eyewear selection is excellently curated. The staff is helpful and friendly; I always receive a prompt and knowledgeable response to any query I have. Dr. Mapes is wonderful!!!! Dr. Mapes expertise is matched only by his approachability and genuine concern for his patients. I took my daughter to Spectacles for her first eye exam last year. She arrived terrified and left with a huge smile on her face. When I called to get an appointment for my eye allergies, I was given one right away. Dr. Mapes, as always, was thorough with the examination and offered multiple solutions to my problem in a kind and helpful manner. We are proud to be a Spectacles family!

Dont EVER go here! The employees are huge liars and SLEAZE BALLS and take advantage of clients by charging them more than necessary. They prey on the rich that come in the store and overcharge them for all sorts of things and try to squeeze every last dime out of you. Most of the glasses break easily and you will have to come in to repair them at least 1-2 times a month and it is a huge hassle because the workers will make it seem like your fault and the replacement process is a nightmare!!! You are better buying off them online.

Convenient with walk-in service available, but ridiculously overpriced. I visited to get a consultation for a stye on my eyelid. I was given four medications, totaling $179.00. Insurance was not accepted. Had I gone elsewhere and used my insurance, my total for those meds would have been -- I kid you not -- $15.62. Get real. Nice guy but no way Im paying more than a 1000% markup again -- ever.
