I’d like to say that I’m Mexican and do not know a lot about Indian sweets. I was watching an episode of Bizarre Foods and I watched the episode of Houston and I was intrigued when Raja Sweets was visited by Andrew Zimmern. Curiosity brought me here after that episode. I’ve tried about 5 different sweets and I can honestly say my favorite is the Julie. What was once a curiously visit has turned in to a frequent trip for more Julie sweets that me and my family enjoy with coffee.Side note: My last visit was during Diwali and the line for sweets was literally out the door. The women working were not only beautiful dressed but cleared the line within minutes! I waited no more than five minutes for my sweets. I love you Raja Sweets!- Liz in Katy
To be clear, we did not try their food. We came to try their desserts to see if we wanted catering for a party. The desserts were okay. They did have a lot of guests so thats a good sign. We did decide not to order but the food was still good. Just not what we wanted for the event.
I heard this spot is the Indian old school sweets restaurant that started the harwin district so i had to try it out. They have great treats. I love Indian food but their desserts are a hit or miss for me. Some are just way too sugary, but some are just right. I like to try new things. So i am not disappointed.
Its an institution for a reason. Samosas are great despite being a little off yesterday and the Mithai is great.
Been coming here since I was a kid and when ever I do, it’s like taking a time machine back to the good old days. The sweets are the same great quality and even the paanwala uncle knows how to slap it together as he’s been there for 30+ years . Friendly owners who take pride in their sweets and it’s shows once you taste it. I highly recommend.
Gulab jamun is out of this world
This is not good Indian food. The food is usually not fresh. The prices are high. Don’t waste your money here. There are better Indian restaurants on Hillcroft.
I usually don’t leave bad reviews but this place has TERRIBLE customer service!! We waited in line for over 20 minutes and they kept taking other customers. When we confronted the two ladies up front about it they didn’t apologize and kept talking back to us. Super rude and unprofessional I won’t be coming back here.GO TO BOMBAY SWEETS DOWN THE ROAD!! Their sweets are much better and the customer service has always been great.
Found out about this place from my colleague, and Ive been hooked ever since. I have brought at least 10 different people here, most of whom have gone back there again with their friends or family because they enjoyed it so much. I still remember the first day I went there- I had to get snacks for a party and my colleague suggested I get samosas from there. And I liked that place so much, I rushed back there after the party to pick up some sweets for my best friend. And she absolutely loved it. I go back there all the time for everything from my random sweet cravings to getting things for parties or someones house. I went there yesterday to get sweets for a friend and saw the Eid boxes so I had to get some for my family. I flew to a different state to see my family today and I brought them sweets from Raja and they are eating it right now- they absolutely love it. I really appreciate their Ramadan and Eid decorations. I dont know think its a Muslim owned shop, so the fact that they had Ramadan and Eid decorations made me feel very included. Would definitely recommend this place for both their food and sweets.
This place is one of my favorite place to eat Indian vegetarian food. This place is famous for their papadi chat which taste real good.It is located in Hillcroft and they are easily noticed in crowd. They have many sweets option and their food is fresh. We love going to this place. They have pan beside the door which is also one of my favorite. You need to try their food so that you can remember their taste in your life 😊😊
Best Sweets that I have tasted in the US!!!!..the milk sweets have an authentic awesome flavor and taste. I have driven from Dallas twice just for these sweets!!! Please open a branch in Dallas🙏🙏🙏..I know you will be an instant hit!!!!...I am frankly SICK of the fake waxy taste and corn syrupy flavors of the Royal sweets and other desi sweet shops in Dallas. Until the time you decide to open a store in Dallas, thank you for a reminder of the taste of sweets from back home🙏
Customer service the Best, 2 ladies at the front taking orders and wearing Indian clothes and food Goat curry $15 very good price
Best gulab jamuns in Houston! Their kaala jamun is good too. Havent tried other sweets.
Been coming here since 2003 and its amazing they still have the same everything. Food, sweets. Even the ladies. Although they are not too friendly but they are not rude either.
A place for authentic Indian sweets, especially JALAYBEE
I have been visiting this restaurant for several years . I always enjoy fresh delicious Indian cuisine, big variety of sweets and good customer service. The restaurant is always very clean and sometimes they play music videos there . Very relaxing and pleasant atmosphere there . I highly recommend this business.
Terrible samosas. They were not fresh and caused stomachache for everyone. Stay away from this place!
Worst customer service ever. The ladies at the front desk were just too rude to be working in the hospitality industry. The food wasnt tasty either.
Delicious Indian sweets very good service
My family has enjoyed Raja Sweets for as long as I can remember.BEST CHUM CHUM AND JALEBI!!
Delicious dishesPunjabi kadi is very good.
I bought some sweets from here, and the taste was good when we bought it the first time, but today, gajar halwa was extremely disgusting. It tasted like it was expired. It smelled like it was full of chemicals.
We had sweet and cup of tea
They have the best Indian sweets in Houston!! Their sweets are authentic and delicious 😋 Must try Julie and Jalebi !
Omg the gulab jamun were AMAZING!! Reminded me of back home!!
We got chamcham, gulabjamun, barfi and laddu for some occasion. I must say all the sweets were pretty flavorful. We tasted pakodas at the restaurant, they were lip smacking 😋
It has one of best Indian Deserts. Should try Gulab Jamun and Kala Jamun for sure.I have never tried savoury dishes so cannot comment on that.Staff is quick on their feet and courteous.
Awesome gulab jamun. Restaurant was clean and very good.
Very bad customer service. We were going there for the first time, so we took some time picking out the sweets we wanted and instead of explaining things to us, the ladies behind the counter were laughing out loud at us. They kept talking to each other in Hindi about how we dont know how to order anything, thinking that we couldnt understand them. We understand Hindi very well; even if we didnt know Hindi, that is no way to treat a customer. They have no manners, no respect towards outside customers; overall very bad experience.
Best gulab jamun in the Houston area !!
Please let someone who moves a little faster at your front counter, those aunties can hardly walk 10 feet before standing and taking a breath not that i am complaining you definitely need younger generations which can manage the coustomers faster, the line got built till the door and the ladies were still moving slow
Good place for sweets. Service is ok.
My family placed a big order of $125 for Sweets to be distributed. We are disappointed by several issues in the order.1. Nothing tasted good, Gulab Jaman was mediocre and everything else is even less.2. We expected sweets to be fresh especially when we ordered in advance but nothing tasted fresh.3. You have Rabdi on the menu but you gave us some sort of Kheer. We called right away and was told that you guys are using the word Rabdi for Kheer. Seriously! There is a huge difference in both.4. Gajar ka Halwa was actually a Mithayi instead of a Halwa.Disappointed.
Decent taste. Not amazing but not bad. However still good. However, the layout of store is not great.
I usually don’t write reviews but omg the lady on the register was the most sweetest and kind person i ever met. And their snacks are amazing.
Sweets are great. Food is ok.
The food and service here are very good. I had vegetables in a delicious yellow curry sauce with rice, my friend had chicken with naan (a baked flatbread) I had a mango drink, and my friend had chai tea. I had seen this place on TV a few years ago, and I wanted to try it. They have many varieties of sweets, but my favorite part was the food. You order and pick up your food at the counter here, and the staff were very nice about answering questions. My only disappointment was that their chai tea is not available as a cold drink. I dont think that they have cold coffee, either.
Best mikhail (info pak sweets). Yet did not find any comparison in houston.
Chom chom was good.
Good sweets, Friendly Staff, Reasonable Prices, definitely a place to go for a sweet craving. A Houston Icon for 30 plus years.
Lovely food! Sweet staff!
These guys are known for their sweets, especially the besan laddus! My favorite is the Julie chum chum, which is a white soft milk based cake with a small tutti fruit gummy on top. (Ill update with a pic soon!) This is my go to spot for my sweet tooth!!
The mithai here are certified, an established Indian sweets place in HTX. The prices per lb at 8.50 for an assorted box of indian sweets is legit. I didnt know what to get as I didnt bother with the reviews beforehand. But the eye test and trust placed with the ladies at cash, I told them I needed 10 boxes for the occasion of the birth of my nephew and they delivered. I knew they made the right choices because all my friends and families loved their sweets. You cant go wrong here.
Best jalebi in the state!
I called ahead and said I would like 2 lb Chamcham and 2lb barfi to ship to Canada. I wanted it fresh since it was going to be shipped. They said everyday sweets are fresh when I got there in the morning, the sweet was at least a day or two old. I’m ok with not wasting food but they should have told me on the phone come on a certain day when it is made.
Best curry and sweets
If you do not know how an Indian sweet should taste and smell, go for this place. But in my case I really did not like the taste and smell as well.
We went there today with family. I asked for a plate and told the serving lady to not give me too much yogurt curry. Then I realised the liquid was less. So I asked har if I can have one more spoon if liquid in my take out bag. She rudely declined and said they charge 3.50 additional. Hello.....we are regular customers and had just sent 33 dollars and you are freaking out over 1 spoon of sauce. Not only that she we n.v t and told other ladies including the owner and starting gossiping.Terrible service, worst ever attitude and soo cheap. They use to be good. But, for sure we are never coming back here again. We almost spend 150 dollars or more a month. No more.
Was charged incorrect amount twice. Decpetive practices. Sweets were o.k
My family fond of Julie sweet.. very tasty.. Also they are good in other sweet items.. good place to take care of your sweet cravings 😀
Love this place. Always fresh sweets.
Good Indian sweets selection
Raja sweets are best indian sweets in houston especially mothichoor ladoo
Best Mithai in Houston!
Absolutely delicious sweets, really very good but it was difficult to order as I can only speak English and they were busy and the lady helping us did not respond in english
Always a reliable destination for south Asian snacks! The samosa chat is my default choice, along with chai and mango lassi. The staff is very friendly and prompt. There’s a homely atmosphere and self service model works well.
Best place to go, if you like Indian Curry or Sweets you must go hereMy favorite is yogurt curry (Kadi) with NanI wish they should open 7 days in a week, they are closed on Tuesday.
Best food, sweets and service. I am going since 15 years and same taste.
Probably the best Kala jamun ever.
Seriously the best!
Been going here since I was little they always have the best mithai!
Poor hygiene snotty.
This place has the best gulab jaman in houston period. We come here almost every week. Worth every penny and time.
Old furniture and food was not the best in the Indian community. Taste was old
Felt like I am back home, chum chum was delicious
Wonderful sweets. A special go to
Hi ladies partyI miss you guys here I wish I can get delivery of kala jamun lol.Best sweets in the town.Fresh delicious and ladies are very clean n nice.
Sweets were stale. Tastes like it was long kept in the freezer.
Wonderful Foods and Sweets!! 😁👍💜💙💚❤️🧡
By far the best mithai in Houston. Gulab jaman are to die for! Jalebi, barfi, rus gula and every other sweet Ive tried there has been wonderful.
Yes, the classic Punjabi fast food restaurant. Authentic food and Punjabi portion sizes. No other local restaurant comes close. I didnt give it a 5 star because the restaurant needs to be renovated as its been the same since I arrived in Houston in 2008.
This spot is my preferred one. I go to plenty of restaurants but here I keep coming back again and again. The stuff is very receptive and the cuisine they cook is so tasty. I never miss an opportunity to have a decent dinner in this place. I highly recommend this place.
The samosas were soooo good.
Samosa good
Great sweets
Best Gulab jamun in Houston area;) and fresh jalebi

Horrible service. Food was not fresh.
Excellent customer service, great Indian sweets at a reasonable price. They also serve lunch and dinner. I have always been very happy with my experience here.

There sweets are great every single time and food is very decent with homemade taste and not heavy on oil or spices.
It is best desi sweet shop in Houston.
Still not clean after 25 year in business not clean or safety precautions enough for covid .
Everything is good esp the coustomer service, she was able to give me my order in very short notice.. my fav is gulab jamun.. bundi and namak paray... must try..!!!!
No words describe how good the food is. I love this restaurant.
Amazing consistently good food and sweet dishes from India
Great food. We always do take out. Excellent value. Great taste. Have also ordered food in larger quantities for parties. Cant go wrong. Best Samosas in town.
Sharon and her mother are delightful as well as the ladies and gentlemen in the kitchen. We have a lot of history as our family has been eating Raja chicken curry and sweets since the early 1990s. Enough food to feed our family of 7 low cost and delicious! We were new to Indian dining but over time we came to know them and they us. Now it is a family reunion when ever we return. Getting to know this Houston Icon is well worth your time and effort.
Definitely not Fresh sweets for me. I tasted multiple sweets and could tell that its been days old. 3 stars because owners were nice and also because one sweet was fresh and soft and delicious.
Great sweets, yummy !!
Consistently good sweets and never any complaints.
