Now Vishala Grocery. Staff (owners?) are extremely friendly and helpful. I really dont know what Im doing when it comes to Indian cuisine and they always help me decide if I am purchasing the right spice blends. They have a LARGE selection of spice blends and individual spices at great prices. They carry non-veg frozen meals, not all Indian grocers do. They have very fresh produce including a good selection of vegetables not typically used in American cuisine. I noticed a comment about cleanliness from a year ago. Vishala recently took over, about January 2021, and it is always very clean when I visit. I love this place.

I thought that there was nothing really special about the infamous Patel Brothers. I was really surprised to find a place to be expensive.Some of the pros were that they carry popular Indian brands, it is organized, some prices are cheap compared to other Indian stores, and quick check out.Cons are that there was very little selection of fresh vegetables and food, the place smells nasty, they have a very limited parking, and some of the prices are not part clearly. Otherwise, if you dont really have another choice, I would suggest going to Patel Brothers

This store is not clean and smells a lot. Please clean the shelves and freezer once in a while also keep fresh vegetables instead of keeping the outdated items. Please keep the store clean so that we would like to come back!

This is one of the best South Asian grocers in Houston.I come here pretty often, once or twice a month at least. They have a good selection of spices, rices, etc.The staff are friendly, and I see them helping other customers often!

Owners were quick to help. Very courteous and explained the different products I was inquiring about. Im sorry I didnt have time to look around more. I did a Google search for an item that I needed and the name Patel Brothers came up. The only suggestion I have is to match the name to the address. I was surprised to see the name on the store as Vishala Grocery #7. All in All, a great 👍 store to visit.

This is a small grocers. It has many spices, dry goods and cosmetics. Good for quick stops for quality products. Very busy shopping area, so go early.

Now this shop is owned by Vishala indian store chains.... Great supermarket for Indian grocery. If you see similar quality products in same area prices are comparatively less here. But for customers they do not follow any safety measures for Covid 19.

Patel brothers has become Vishala groceries now. Recently during Durga puja festival, there was a sale. As much as the store others and workers were helping customers, different merchandise and boxes (both empty and full) were strewn all over the place. It was utter chaos. There was absolutely no strict enforcement of mask. Social distancing was nowhere to be seen in this chaotic mess. Please do not visit the store during crowded hours.

So went to Vishala after their opening this tuesday the store itself was crammed not with people but things lying here and there and about 2 to 3 spanish guys working there were not wearing their masks upon asking one of them he said its hot thats why he was not wearing the mask upon which i told him that it was important do so and told one of the guys working upfront he also told the spanish guy to wear a mask but the guy ignored him too,Its the managements responsibility to make sure every one wears a mask when the customers are following the rules so should the employees.I dont think we will be visiting the store in the future where they are not even strict about following these rules and endagering the safety of their customers.

They have a variety of Indian groceries including spices masalas, frozen dinners, cookies, snacks etc. Parking spot available right in front of the shop.They should have one more billing counter, considering the large number of customers especially during covid times.

Its been a while I have been going to the Patel Brothers for my grocery shopping. As its obvious that it is owned by the Indian people, so basically what do you expect from the store, most of the items are Indian spices and food items. But its not like that you can get more stuff for your home if you browse through the items.

I am coming from Memphis and I ordered saffron ( kesar) more than 10 box They not haven’t when i was there so they want ordered and paid after two days come and get but three days is not coming and they talk one time after I called and called they cut the phone

This place is good to shop all the Indian and Nepalese spices. They have variety of food stuff. They are cheaper than any other Indian stores in Houston. I dont know if its the owner or the guy working over there who never seems happy or talk to the customer. Everything is good over there except the guy who makes us feel not to go over there.

This one is now called Vishala and not Patel Brothers anymore. The change happened sometime in October. Just a regular Indian grocery store, though we did find a couple of things here that we dont find back home in Bentonville.

Patel Bros. have been operating for a long time in the Hillcroft area. They offer a wide variety of Indo-Pak goods, spices, and foods at a reasonable price. They are located at a fairly busy intersection, so parking can be difficult to find at peak hours, but usually a spot is available. An extra for some is the offering of newspapers printed with regional news from India and sometimes Pakistan, which many customers avail themselves of. They are also located next to or close by to other India or South Asia themed businesses, so a wide range of goods and services are available that are specific to South Asian customers.

Good for groceries only. Dont waste time on vegetables as they are not good enough. But prices are more reasonable compared to keemat

Highly disappointed with the ambience. store is not clean, brand choices are very less and price is high and vegetables are not fresh, iam a huge fan of patel brothers, i used to shop regularly in Dallas patel groceries which have wide choices and fresh stocks of groceries and vegetables .they need to improve a lot in houston store.

Jam packed for Diwali special sale. Hard to park or even find a shopping cart. 😳. But well worth the trek from Birmingham Alabama.

You can get all Indian spices and much more. I like the place better than other Indian grocery stores coz they do return unused items if purchased by mistake.

There are items where the price at not labelled. Customers should not buy those items. There may some unethical practice. I was there and I noticed some rice sold had no price written? Is it a bad practise. I dont know. You decide.

People who work here are not friendly :( I was buying some groceries. The man asked a few other people if they needed any help, but I was not spoken to. The cashier continued talking with two other men and barely told me my total amount due.

Beware, we baught so much items, because of diwali offer, they removed the rice bags from cart and billed while the rise bags placed top of the counter. But somehow one rice bag ($19.99) missing while we reach home. We have called them about this missing item, they said we put all the items in cart, we dont have anything left by you. So friends please check all the items before you leave the store GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED. Anyway I am going to share this information to all my friends. God bless.

The go-to place for Indian groceries. The store is clean and the staff helpful. I like shopping here and eating at Bombay sweets which is just next doors.

This place is pathetic. The owner is completely fooling customer with expired food on the shelves. When asked he is arrogant about the discussion. Never ever go to this place and waste your precious time. Its my honest feedback.

Best cheap Himalayan salt. The order of oils strikes you when you enter. Very strong oils.

Went there recently to quickly grab a small item. Employees were not willing to help. The store was poorly organized and there was a lack of variety. Checkout was quick and easy.

I used to believe the groceries in houston are cheaper than Kingsville or rest of the places. As it is a big market hub, but when I went to the store it was way too costly and there was no meaning to come Houston for groceries. Well unfortunately I needed the rice so I purchased as I had no alternative. But when I came back to my house then couple of friends suggested me the different shops in Houston which are way cheaper than this. So guys I will highly recommend you to check the place for Indian stuff except this.

I usually shop at this place.... Staff is rude and dont care when you ask where a particular item is.Biggest problem is that they sell expired stuff... I bought multiple swad snacks (1 kg pack) and ate a little (should have check expiry date). The taste was weird, because they were expired 4 months back!! This is cheating in broad daylight!! Why dont you throw away expired/deadly stuff!!Wish I could sue these people. Totally unethical!! Stop bringing bad names to the indian community! How greedy can a person be? Shameful!

Great selection of Indian foods and spices at reasonable prices. This is where I always go for my Indian spices, which I love.

I went there to buy some stuff with my friends (my non-Indian friends), big mistake. The man at the checkout asked my friend are you boy or girl? Honestly, this is where bad Indian stereotypes are formed. My friends were all shocked and very upset. Never ever going back there. I understand that he probably didnt mean any offense, but such ignorance cant be excused. I would give a negative star if I could.

These days I go to Shubhlaxmi Grocers.Look out for an idiot old guy who is rude when you go there for an exchange of any item purchased from them. He will tell you that this item was not purchased from this place even though if you show him the receipt.And he will make irrelevant arguments about how bad things are there in India and how they are so good here in the USA.Just one thing to say to the gentleman that you should never forget where you come from.Also Shubhlaxmi has more variety and cheaper products.

Ive shopped at Patel Brothers ever since I was a little child and thought they had the coolest items. Im an adult now and I purchased a coconut at Patel Brothers yesterday. I cracked it this morning and it had mold and mildew inside. They are selling produce which is harmful for consumption. Someone needs to report them to the health department to SHUT THEM DOWN.

Want something expired? Go here! And the owner/manager has the gall to explain that he cannot check the expiry for over 5000 products he has in store; and Walmart too has expired products on their shelves. 3 month past expiry poducts were found on the shelves.

Although it is not as big as some of the other nearby Indian grocery stores, it is one of the few places that sells Bedekar pickle and Bournvita at discount

I go there usually during Diwali to buy toor dhal and other dhals when prices are lower than at other times of the year. So far they have all been of good quality and last several months when stored at home under good air conditioning. At other times I shop at other Indian stores in Houston to buy Indian food items and spices. Patel Brothers is not my first choice as the store is very small and this store often times carries stale food items. This store is not reputable in taking back spoiled food packages sold by them. I had bought 4 bags of raw peanuts at regular price of $8 a bag and they were all 40 % to 50% rotten. Not the best of Indian grocery stores in west Houston.
