So happy I used this as my base camp for working while driving to Chicago. The most unique menu of coffee pairings I’ve seen! I wanted to try everything. Not to mention what a cool little building with an art museum upstairs and a retro “coat check” counter. Played good music to really get in the zone. I got an orange cardamom latte yum. For lunch I had a Cuban on this bagel-ish thing that isn’t exactly a bagel and I actually liked it better than a bagel much more texture to it. The mustard in the not bagel, bagel was so good too. The ginger beer I got later was just as delicious as it looks. Wish it was closer to where I live I would be a regular for sure.
Such good coffee! I’m surprised it wasn’t busier. Great location with a super fun atmosphere that I haven’t had since college. The pistachio orgeat was awesome, so get that in a latte. I had to go back and try the orange cardamom latte, which was also really good. Definitely recommend to coffee snobs or anyone passing through Indy.
I couldn’t get over how delicious my latte was. The barista was awesome and I had some caffeine restrictions which he was so accommodating to. He explained to us how they make their own syrups in house, completely forms scratch. The ginger syrup I had in my drink was off the charts, so fresh and flavourful. They also had really yummy biscuits which had that homemade feel to it. He even gave us a general layout of the building and I spent some time checking out the artwork upstairs. It’s a beautiful building with lots of details and accents. Definitely a good find for coffee and art lovers.
Looking for craft - fresh roasted coffee in downtown Indy? This place is a gem!!Historical rich building offers a exquisite coffee shop, top of the line, hand roasted craft coffee, I tried a pistachio rose infused latte, must try the fresh ginger beer, each drink is crafted before your eyes.A must try
I visited Coat Check Coffee today with my boyfriend. It was very quiet there like a library, but had soft music playing in the background. A perfect place to study. The baristas were very friendly there as well. I ended up ordering a butterscotch latte, while he got a hot chocolate. The latte was very good. It was sweet, but not too sweet. And the hot chocolate there, was better than any hot chocolate Ive ever made lol. If Im not mistaken, I believe it was made with Ghana chocolate and sprinkled with sea salt. And of course each drink was decorated with awesome latte art.
When you aren’t a coffee drinker, it can be quite difficult to find a warm drink, at a coat check coffee, such is not the case. Their non coffee drinks are not an afterthought but offer great options and delicious notes to non coffee drinkers. The hot chocolate was wonderful as the hint of salt was surprisingly delicious. If ever I’m in Indianapolis again, I’ll make sure to stop by this decadent shop.
Cool location! They made my go to drink of an oat milk vanilla latte well and their pastries are amazing!
We came here after staying at Nestle Inn and didn’t realize how great of a breakfast we were going to get. Delicious drinks, vegetarian breakfast sandwich, amazing architecture & history. An absolutely beautiful building which had its own little museum and art gallery. So fun to walk around and explore while sipping on the handcrafted latte. Will definitely visit here again whenever returning to Indianapolis!
Coat check coffee has great lattes and great staff and was our favorite coffee shop before the pandemic. After they reopened when we recently went, the butterscotch latte was 7 bucks. Up from 4.5-5.5 as can be seen in previous menu pics. I know things are all getting expensive which is understandable but a 7 dollar latte is a bit ridiculous. I feel the customer base has shrunk recently and perhaps this is the reason. Good luck in the future. I’ll miss your lattes
My favorite coffee in the area! My favorite is the butterscotch latte. So delicious!
Delicious drinks here. I recommend stopping here. More independent vibe. Much better than a chain.
The butterscotch latte was excellent. Sweet but not overwhelming. Would go here again and will if Im ever in town again.
The coffees are delicious (shout-out to the iced butterscotch latte), and the staff were friendly and helpful. They have such a cool location, and I enjoyed looking at the art exhibition upstairs.
I stopped by here a couple of times on vacation. If I lived closer, Id be in danger of getting their ginger latte every day! Their selection of pastries was limited but delicious--Id especially recommend their chocolate croissants.
We would give it more stars than five if we could. Great drinks, fun location, excellent food - the loaded vegan Mac and cheese is a must for vegans and non-vegans alike. Such a wonderful experience!
Some of the best customer service I’ve ever had at a coffee shop which made the experience even better because the drinks were amazing.
Good coffee. Their specialty seems to be in their lattes, where they artfully sprinkle powder and even add aromatics. People seemed to love these.I asked for a cappuccino, which they said they don’t do. But they could do a flat white which is close enough.Fun, open space. Busy during a Friday morning, with a mix of students and business people.
Amazing coffee + customer service. 👏🏽
Best almond crossiant Ive ever had!!! Flakey on the outside and these warm softy gooey center!
Simple but superb lattes. Strongly recommend anything with ginger in it, the exact flavors rotate!
The iced butterscotch latte is a magical! No words to express the greatness in a cup!
Shout out to Scott for being so helpful and accommodating. My wife and I ended up with some great drinks because of his recommendations.
I have been trying all the coffee shops in Indy and this one makes the top of the list along with their sister coffee shop provider. The biscuits and gravy was wonderful and so was their breakfast sandwich. I enjoyed my latte. They have seating in the theatre and it was worth the price!
Coffee smelled good but they had the worst iced tea ever and at $4 for a 16oz cup it is some of the most expensive.
5 star for food and service!!! Originally ordered the Americano on my first trip. Good, but I should have listened to the other reviewers and Barista - the Pistachio Lattee was fabulous! Great flavor profile, and I would highly recommend. Blows the Americano out of the water! The breakfast sandwich was awesome with the pepper jelly! The cream cheese croissant was one of the best pastry treats I have had in a long time. It single handedly brought us back for the 2nd tasting before we left town! Nice crunch and sweet flavors!!! That alone is worth going back for an indulgent pastry! Baristas were very knowledgeable and accommodating - great service. The venue was very fun too - great location.
This place is doing social distancing perfectly. I got the Butterscotch latte and it has just a hint of orange. I will definitely be back. And they have oat milk!
Great place to get some work done or meet people here. excellent coffee and breakfast sandwiches.
There loaded Vegan Mac and Cheese was so great that I went back the next day for more. I also loved their chocolate coffee!
Im pretty sure Coat Check Coffee and Provider Coffee are sister cafes! These places have the best coffee. My favorite is the pistachio latte. Like, I actually crave it. Coat Check is less cafe-ish than Provider but still has a nice seating area and a great location downtown. Excellent drinks, you cant go wrong with anything you order from here!
Solid espresso drinks with baristas who know what they are doing. Got some really good coffee beans here too.
Very chill vibe with really good drinks, local baked goods, and modern seating. There’s indie music going that speaks to the whole atmosphere of this place. Some stuff you know others you don’t for a good study mix. I got the Oreo macaron, which aesthetically looked good with some really nice sheen and feet on the cookies. The bit was soft and chewy with an awesome Oreo buttercream-thing in the middle. The croissant was also really good (maybe a little over baked in my opinion, but still buttery and fluffy and local which is great). I got the Nepal white tea and it was super clean and relaxing while I was getting some work done. This place may be a tad expensive, but you know everything you get will be fresh, tasty, and bespoke. Definitely a place for everyone to get her whether you are doing homework, meeting a friend, or just need to get away. 5/5
Great shop! Delicious pistachio latte!Great team; very kind and quick!
Coffee was the best Ive had in Indy but my husband had a bad experience with an employee at that building.
The first time I went I didnt get a positive first impression. However, I went back for another try and had a wonderful experience. The staff was very friendly. There are lots of comfy places to sip and read, work, or socialize. The shop is unique and has a great menu. We didnt have to wait long for our drinks either. Im glad I went back. Highly recommend checking this place out!
Unprofessional. Making up lies or at best confusing customers while arguing with customers because they couldnt possibly be in the wrong... Screen shot speaks for itself. Left me speechless. You also deleted your original post and replaced it with the most unprofessional argumentative post. Are you trying to ruin your business? At the end of the day you served a subpar drink that was watered down tea that was 1/2 full in a to go cup at full price and this is how you try and resolve issues and correct grievances with customers?
Amazing service, friendly staff, delicious matcha latte, and delectable food. I got vegan mac n cheese, vegan biscuits n gravy, and a cardamom roll (also vegan haha).
Wonderful latte! People were super kind and the space is very fun! Highly recommend!
Asked for strong coffee. Did not get it. Did not have skim milk. Griped at me because my mask wasnt on perfect. Wont go back.
Had a butterscotch latte, one of the best I have ever had and I have had a lot of coffee!!
Awesome place to stop and relax in downtown Indy. I had the ginger latte with an apple cinnamon muffin and it was like Christmas in your mouth. The latte in particular was on point - very smooth and the hibiscus powder with the lime zest was a really nice pairing. The old Athenaeum building houses this little gem, which in and of itself is a cool find. I travel for a living and Im in town for the week. I usually like to go to a different place each day but I have to make the exception with Coatcheck. If youre in the area this is a must stop.
Everything our party ordered was delicious! we ordered the hot chocolate, the matcha latte, and the golden milk latte w/ oat milk. we also ordered two each of the blood orange macaron and the tiramisu macaron. both were also delicious too!there is plenty of seating for enjoying your order in house and chatting away with friends.if its your first time, it is located in a space right next to the YMCA.
05-30-2021Tried the matcha latte with ginger today. It changed my life.+++++++I was skeptical about this place at first, but after my 14th cortado breve, I have come around on this establishment. Excellent location. Professional baristas. Tasty espresso. Give them your money.
The mocha was the best and the blueberry muffin was warm with a yummy cornflake topping.
Can’t wait for Covid to be over to sit here and drink their delicious coffee
Had an everything croissant-nearly perfect amount of seasoning and their ginger latte. Wasnt the least bit disappointed. Beautiful, yummy drink. I do agree with the pricing, it does end up on the higher side but then again so does starbucks if you order their lattes/mochas & food etc and this coffee was WAY better.
This location is absolutely outstanding. I will be back with my relatives. This place has many reviews for a reason.
I absolutely love this place. Its conveniently located in downtown in a beautiful historical building (The Atanaeum). They have tea and coffee on the menu and a few items to munch on. Great to catch up with a fiend, plug in your computer to do work, or simply read a book. Definitely worth checking out.
Seriously the name makes you laugh but this is a quite nice coffee, pastry, and sweets place.
A Great Place To VisitVery Sound
This place is great for small meetings. Ive tried all the lattes, and can say pistachio is my favorite. I recently tried the pear latte. Im sure most will like it. Pear flavored things always taste like a candle to me. It would be my least favorite so far, but dont let that stop you!Service is great and always friendly. They are fairly speedy on the days I visited. Its definitely worth a visit.
I was initially sceptical of the athenaeum upgrades but coat check makes it work and brings in a crowd that has brought new life to the building. Their coffee is delicious and my wife raves about the croissants. Really cool staff that is friendly, laid back, but somehow still professional and productive. Really great place!
Very friendly staff, amazing coffee, and surprisingly tasty breakfast. Will certainly return next time Im in Indy.
Superb lattes, beautiful building, indoor and outdoor seating
