What an unexpected surprise- found this one which is a daily local menu- so much taste and variety- my mouth couldn’t keep up with the party of flavors. Something as simple as spaghetti had a unique and flavorful palette of different cheeses which were fantastic!Roasted cauliflower with capers,Ginger Thai soup with incredible bread πŸ₯–Do not leave without dessertβ€”-Vaniela bean chess pie was supreme- as well as a unique authentic bread pudding!Despite being full we all shared it and went home full of the rich unique flavors Bluebeard offers!

This was a great meal! The missus and I stopped here for an early dinner on a Saturday afternoon. Not at all crowded at 330pm. My first visit, her second. We shared the roasted cauliflower app, a small beet salad, and the grilled octopus entree, along with a couple of cocktails. The salad was downright delightful. The earthy sweetness of the beets paired quite well with the peppery arugula, and the whole thing was masterfully dressed and composed. The healthy portion of cauliflower was perfectly roasted as well. If youre intimidated by the idea of octopus, get over it and order this entree. So well cooked, and the tzatziki sauce it was served with was incredible.Im not a dessert guy generally speaking, but the vanilla bean chess pie was incredible.

Amazing vibe that manages to feel relaxed and inviting while serving high-end experimental cuisine. The interior is beautifully designed, full on upscale warehouse chic, with vintage typewriters lining the walls. It’s expensive, but the quality and execution of the food warrants it. Picked Bluebeard for the last night of my trip to Indy to visit a dear friend and wow, this place does not disappoint! My especial favorites were the vegan chili, the mussels (the broth is out of this world), and the stunning exemplary cocktails that my friend and I tried. Definitely a must-visit! Wow. That pretty much sums it up every time we go. The cocktails are stellar. Ive tried so many of them and have not been disappointed. At this point, I pretty much just give our waiter my mood and maybe a starter liquor (like bourbon) and just let them bring me something. Sometimes its from the menu and sometimes they just play. And dont let the amazing cocktails detract from the food. The menu is constantly changing and the food is always delicious. And by delicious, I mean each bite is like its own journey. You start with one sensation that transitions into another and then finishes with yet another. Its hard to describe because every dish is its own adventure. All I can say is that the chef definitely is intentional with the flavor combinations and it shows. This is a favorite destination of ours.

Unique, adventurous menu in a cozy, vintage vibe neighborhood restaurant. We had the fabulous Grenache French wine. The quail was presented with a cucumber and tomato melange, while the shrimp was accompanied by plantain chips. Excellent service! We enjoyed the Salmon and peas, beautifully prepared and light as a cloud. The octopus was fried to perfection and swathed in an avocado reduction. Try the sesame fried Brussel sprouts and the seared cauliflower with capers!

Kyle the waiter needs to be fired. He never came back once we got our food. When we spoke with the manager, he came up in front of us and said β€œhe won’t wait on us anymore and told the manager he could take care of us instead for himself.” Not sure if we didn’t look like we had enough money to be eating at the restaurant, or if we didn’t meet his standards after he came over to the table one time. All we did was order drinks and a snack so far. Then we asked him to bring us a menu when they were ready. Which never happened. He didn’t even bring a meanie after the dinner time started. Fire him please. The food was amazing. We would have stayed for dinner if the service was better. The manager did a great job handling the outcome.

I hate to do this. I want to love this place. I used to love this place.I had some clients from Arizona fly into town. They wanted to try Indy’s best. It seemed like lunch at Bluebeard was a no brainer. We arrived at 2:15. We sat down and ordered some apps and three sandwiches. The apps came, including some we did not order. They were good and we were waiting for our waitress. She never came back. Instead we waited (our water wasn’t getting refilled either) and finally a guy came up to us and very quickly explained that the waitress forgot to put in our sandwich orders and that we would not be getting them as the kitchen was closed. He then handed us a bill . Yes, try didn’t charge us for all the apps we got. However, they charged us for apps we never even ordered! I was so disappointed in how Indy’s β€œtop restaurant” represented our city. I must add that the rudeness of the guy and his less than accommodating demeanor made the situation much worse. Our waitress was too embarrassed to even come back to our table! I understand times our tough for the industry. But this was a disgrace to that industry and a terrible representation of the β€œbest” our city has to offer.Gotta love when you see the management respond to the people leaving good reviews, but they have nothing to say to the people that feel they have been treated poorly.

A lovely sweetish version of a Manhattan. My brother-in-law had the octopus on toast. All of the food was wonderfully crafted the flavors were delicious portion sizes just right. That was the only disappointing part of our experience, having to wait so long for a desert.

Secondovely, the couple sitting next to us clearly didnt love each other, but they STILL ordered deserts AND coffee, so they clearly enjoyed the ambiance and trusted that their tart or whatever would be QUALITY! AMAZING! We didnt know how to pronounce any of the dishes we thought would be good so considered ordering the roasted cauliflower then just leaving to spare our server, our loveless neighbors, and OURSELVES the embarrassment; but Patrick (our server) was so gracious and knowledgeable that ordering was a BRREZE! Patrick was also kind enough to recommend a FUN red wine that paired perfectly with our meals and even came with a FREE self portrait of REMBRANDT! Checked it out because I was visiting Indy and it was rated one of the Top 25 restaurants in the city. The menu was interesting and creative (minus the snack section), but it was one of the saltiest meals I’ve had in my life. Every dish I had was overloaded with salt and by the end my palette was so blown out I couldn’t taste my wine and my tongue was actually raw from it. Plates are designed to share (according to server), but there were some details lacking: spoons for everyone and bread to go around for the bouillabaisse, clean plates between β€œcourses”, for example. Had a cocktail that was promising, but a little imbalanced. Server tended to contradict himself when offering recommendations and then later when checking in, but we were well taken care of by a team of people and they were kind enough to comp my last plate when they saw I wouldn’t finish and explained the salt issue.

Sharing lunch with my son we had oysters on the half shell, the charcuterie and cheese board, watermelon gazpacho, beet salad, panzanella salad, bbq chicken & succotash, olive oil gelato and white chocolate bread pudding. So many fresh, vibrant and bright flavors, my taste buds were dancing, singing and basking in glory. I know it sounds like a ton of food for 2 people but everything was light enough to be able to really indulge.I don’t get out much anymore, so it was nice having Soon take such good care of us. Bluebeard is an excellent spot off of Virginia Ave. in downtown Indy. They own Amelia’s Bakery, and having been a loyal patron of Amelia’s it’s no surprise that the quality carries over to Bluebeard.I was here for lunch with coworkers. No issues with the greeting or finding a table; weather was perfect for outdoor seating. I did think it was a bit loud outside, but that is because the highway is right next to us. The service was okay, and that’s why I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5. Our waiter was polite, kind, and helpful...but it took FOREVER. We were here for 1.5 hours to get an appetizer and sandwiches. We skipped dessert because it took so long and we needed to get back for meetings. The food was fantastic. The pickled herring was balanced by the creme fraiche, onion, and dill...although I would have loved more bites on the plate. The bread was excellent...as it should be since it comes from Amelia’s. The butters were very interesting...the anchovy was packed with umami (my favorite), the peach was slightly sweet, and the roasted garlic oil was standard. The BLT came on a Pullman loaf, which didn’t hold up as well as I had thought. The flavors were on point...fresh veg, rich jowl bacon, a nice punch from aioli...although I didn’t get much from the saba. For me, I thought the sandwich could have benefited from just a tad more bacon. The homemade ginger beer was also excellent...refreshing! I appreciated the presentation in the glass...large ice cubes stacked on top of one another and a decorative slice of lime.Overall, I will come back because the food and drinks are great. I just can’t stay for a 1.5 hour lunch.
