Another poor review for this store and company as a whole. I spent $2,600 on a brand new Jackson Soloist and waited for it to be shipped in. Once I received it, I noticed a deep gouge on the bass side of the body. Guitar plays great, but for that kind of money, I should have received it in mint condition. I reached out to their customer care and was offered a measly 10% credit due to the inconvenience. There was no ability to negotiate this even though I posed the question on how much they would depreciate an instrument in this condition if they were buying it. They said take the credit or return it. In the end, I decided to accept the credit and just chalked it up to never shopping with them again and they are under poor management. They told me it would be to me in 3-5 days. Its now been nearly 2 months and cannot get a response back from customer care or my refund. I spoke to the manager or supervisor in the store in person and was assured she would handle this and call me back the very next day once she got answers from home office. That was over a week ago and still have not heard anything. I work retail and oversee 25 retail stores across the central US. They should be thankful they do not work for me because they would be looking for new jobs. I never post reviews, but this experience was so terrible, it very much is justified. Just want my money back and this to not happen to any future spenders.
First visit, no problems. Tony is fixing my warlock and Im a happy gal.
Appreciate the knowledgeable staff here. Found exactly what we were looking for. Considering lessons this fall especially after chatting with the gentleman who coordinates such. His enthusiasm, willingness to explain options, show us the lesson rooms etc was so helpful. Highly recommend this store.
Amazing place. I was blown away by the staff and their willingness to help my daughter and myself understand the steps we needed to take to get her started. Sam was incredible. He took the time to explain everything to me when then sat down with my 6 year old and played the ukulele for her. She’s never been more excited to pursue music. People like Sam make the experience personalized and authentic. We will be doing a lot of business with Guitar Center. Thank you guys.
If you order from Guitar Center online make sure you find out where it is coming from. I thought I was purchasing a new guitar but it was a store model that still hand fingerprints all over it and the strings had to be replaced the next day. The only thing that helped was the help from this store. Staff was able to do my return and he did try to help me find a replacement.
I love visiting here even when I dont need to buy anything. Large selection of electric and acoustic guitars. Their acoustic section is always very quiet and peaceful. I recently picked up a new Lanikai ukulele here for a pretty decent price and its great. Always interested in learning something new.
I will never be doing business with guitar center in my life again. I placed an order online at around 10:00 a.m. this morning. I patiently waited for my order confirmation to pick up came through my email, At around 3:00 p.m. the confirmation have not yet shown up.I decided to follow up with them, they told me they didnt even have my order in their system at all. I then proceeded to go to the store to figure out what happened, I showed them my bank account had been charged and I had the confirmation printout, they still couldnt find itI missed my sons guitar lessons, wont be getting a refund for that. I tried just placing another order online as I had forgotten my debit card at home... they told me it could be hours for the card to clear maybe a full day.... At this point Id be like here dude, just take the guitar, on top of that, Ill throw in a coupon for the headache!Nope, they didnt seem genuinely interested to retain my business, so now Im out $200.00 for the guitar, $40.00 for my sons lessons, and no freaking guitar at all. Long story short, Id rather throw up and drink it all back up than do business with guitar center ever again! This has been the absolute worst experience ever! I better get my freaking money back too! 😤
We purchased some used gear from this location and asked it to be shipped to Texas. Due to a mistake by the shipper, the gear wound up being returned to Indianapolis! Knowing that we had a time sensitive issue with the gear, Josh, Jake, and who knows who else at this store stepped up without even being asked and corrected the situation in a very pleasant, professional way. Extra effort at customer service is rare these days and we just had to take time to leave a review that acknowledged that. Thank you.
One of the nicest Guitar Centers I have been to. Employees were friendly and the place wasn’t too crowded. They have a good selection of both, acoustic and electric guitars. You can find drums as well as training classes. They service guitars too. Great place to visit if you’re interested in guitars or drums.
Just come back from Guitar center, really appreciate for Ryan s help! Everyone at the center is so nice!
Its my first time buying a guitar and the staff was more than helpful. It was fun to pick out my first guitar with them and they did the job efficiently while also providing great customer service
Eh. The staff is fantastic, all so helpful, but they have just been sooo mediocre as far as supply goes.
Amazing service. Jake was exceptional in his knowledge and was able to help me find a perfect solution for my gigs. He even helped me take my speakers to my car. I cannot express how special I felt and how happy I was with everything that happened today.
I work with Don. Found a guitar online Guitar Center see if they had the same model. I did it is even cheaper and I found online. Don was the consummate professional and super helpful
Service is just consistently bad. I really want to love this location but the sales reps are always rude, ignore customers to chat with each other, and come off very stand offish if you interrupt them to ask for something. I even had one tell me a pedal I asked to purchase was his least favorite one and to think about something else and then continued to talk to another employee. I will take my business to other locations before I come back here anymore.
Excelent attention. Answered all my questions with knowlege and dilligence. Highly recommended.
This has to be the best selection of guitars I have ever seen.
Very friendly and helpful staff.Made my second purchase there recently and I was very pleased with the setup on my instrument. The people there have a love for music and it shows in their excitement to help you.
Only 2 stars for 1 small reason, and yes, I do mean small. I had asked if there were any guitar pics that were thinner that I could get, but the employee said No. when abruptly walking away.. As a result, I had to go BUY MY OWN guitar pics just to practice on a guitar that I ended up buying.I will never do my business with a company like this.. .So selfish and embarrassingly greedy. The guitar pics cost $2.... I bought a guitar for almost $350.00... SOME company Guitar Center is. Some company indeed. Go elsewhere. Literally EVERY OTHER PLACE would have given me a thin guitar pic (that they wouldnt have made me purchase first).
Stopped by because website mentions the word banjo and accessories. They didnt have any banjos or banjo accessories. Staff was really friendly.
Holy rudeness Batman! Ive never been treated with such disrespect by walking into a music store in my entire life! I walked into the store prepared to spend between $400 and $500 and ended up going somewhere else! Bye Felicia
Beware of No one cares to give service at this location. And speaking as an Audio Engineer who has professional credentials; the Pro Audio Department was clueless 🙄🤔. Well if this is your closest option to get what you need; let me save you a wasted trip of no one with enthusiasm about you or why you came. Go up the way off of Center Run Drive to Sam Ash. Feels good when they find you to say if you need anything let me know . Whats humbling is the New Store Manager at Sam Ash Greeted me and gave me an introduction of himself with service like he needed to be involved with the energy in the atmosphere of customers getting what they needed and the Staff was way better. SO GC YEARS OF MY BUSINESS WITH YOU GUYS ARE DEFINITELY DONE.
Very engaging and informative employee, he quickly addressed my needs and got me the headphones I was looking for. I came in only moments before closing time and was still greeted graciously without a sense of rushing me out the door. They made me excited to come back to this store to do more shopping in the near future. The store itself was clean and organized very well. Though the exterior lights could be a bit brighter, it was honestly hard to find in the market area.
The guy that helped us out today was great. Explained things throughly and gave us his opinion on things. But when we got home, we were having issues with the new guitar we just bought. We called the guitar center and the guy that answered was rude and wouldnt really listen to what the problem was. Just told us to bring it in tomorrow.
Great selection and really helpful staff. There is a competing guitar store nearby, and I recommend at least stopping in Guitar Center to take a look if youre headed there.
Cam and Sam are the goto dudes for any question and best sales service 🤙🏾
The staff was excellent. I purchased an Alesis set and double pedals. One of the managers and sales person (Kyle i think...) Were very informative and helpful. Couldnt ask for a better experience. Thanks.
Nearly everything you need related to guitars with helpful and friendly staff.
Purchased an inexpensive used guitar. Wound not allow us to adjust the relief to see if the truss bar was working but said we could bring it home and return it if we were not satisfied
Nice place.. not what it used to be
Nice not being hassled by workers. Pandemic in consideration not much stock in store. Drove 75 miles to buy a few things but had to order half of what I went all that way for. Shouldve saved 12 bucks in gas ⛽ and ordered it all from my sofa.
Couldnt find an employee who wanted to help us find a piano. The one we did get the attention of didnt seem to know anything
Excellent service on electric guitar.
I Always enjoy the toys and adding to my wish list
Great store been doing business with them for years. Store seems a little empty compared to other stores I have visited while traveling the country
Great selection of new and used guitars and accessories at really reasonable prices.
Very nice customer service.
Its decent here. Their selection could be better. Seems like GC are investing in a lot of cheap knock off brands like Michael Kelly or Squier. Itd be nice to have a bit more top shelf options for 20+ year players.
In the showroom for pianos for 45 minutes and can’t get any help... I’ll buy one somewhere else... good luck if you want help here!
I understand the wrap the “big box” stores can get.... and to an extent I can agree with some of it. But there will come a time in every musicians life (especially in this day in age) to where it’s a must to go in. When this time comes, there’s none better than GC. Cam greeted me and helped me thoroughly until I found what I needed, Max took my used things and made them work in purchasing several pieces to make my rig current and sounding your ready. Thanks fellas, keep rockin!! 🤘✌️
Folks were very pleasant service was top notch. Ordering was easy. Awaiting delivery.
I knit, not with needle tips, fingers, got dexterity, so I got a rogue dreadnought on July 4th sale, brand new, never tuned, LoL. Thought it time to learn, like my brother.
Hit or miss customer service and stock. Not sure if its because of the pandemic, but their in-store stock is about half of what it was. There used to be a time when you could go in an test out various keyboards. Now, they have a couple of the cheaper ones and an empty showroom. Sound mixers and lighting is even worse.
They do have the new guitar technology, through price is still high.
Castleton store looks forgotten 😕. Inventory is sad. Staff is what you would expect for minimum wage + commission during a pandemic but they try. One of the current managers is wound up REALLY tight. Hes rude to employees while they are trying to make a sale and oddly adversarial to customers who want to trade equipment towards a new purchase. Ive been going to this store since the 90s and spent over $10,000 here. Its a far cry from what it once was. They have no relationship with long time customers.
They’re more organized than they’ve been in a years. Staying with the safe guidelines the store is efficient and precautious. The employees were helpful even with many customers in the shop at the time.
Very nice people. Helped me with my daughters purchase with her first guitar.
Had a great experience! Went in to shop for my first guitar and found something that sounds great and doesnt break the bank!
Bought a guitar 🎸 ☺
Amazing selection across the board. Some things were a bit pricey but most things o felt were inline.
Great staff, awesome sale prices on gear. Go-to shop for musicians.
Product selection on-site was poor, especially in the acoustic guitar area. Staff was great!
Always love a place that has hundreds of guitars to mess with. Staff is fairly knowledgeable and friendly. I tend to know what i want and what im looking for so i find them being helpful a bit annoying but still great store.
Cant believe how great this store is. Our first time in Indianapolis and what a pleasure!!
They told me they was going to give me a price on buying the stuff I had then they ended up till me to go pawn it on Sunday.
My bf found the drumset he wanted at a great price. Very friendly & helpful staff.
I ordered a vintage Fender tube amp from Guitar Center to be shipped to my house. I waited for a few days and then checked the order status. It was still processing and on the order form I noticed it was to be shipped via economy mail. Shipping a vintage tube amp via economy mail from Indiana to Arizona is not a smart move. So I called and I got the call center and they said they will call the store and upgrade the shipping for me for an additional cost. I said yes please. I want it sent fast and safe. The guy at the call center assured me that he would get that done and call me back. No call back. I waited a couple days and the order still said it was processing and set to be shipped via economy mail. I didnt have time to deal with it so I just decided to wait and hope everything was taken care of and it just didnt get updated on the order form. Nope. 12 days later I realized my amp was overdue. I called them up and guess what? They hadnt even shipped it yet. I cancelled the order and went straight to google reviews. The real bummer is I really wanted that amp. And then you have to think about the person selling this amp through Guitar Center on consignment that got screwed out of a sale because Guitar Center dropped the ball. Really sucks.
Not an outstanding selection of guitars at this store as it is one of the smaller stores Ive been to. And with the prices of some of them Im not entirely sure why online shopping isnt a better option other than personally feeling the instrument before purchase.
As always, great staff, great gear! Ask for Abel if your at this store in Indy. Friendly, knowledgeable and goes out of his way to help.
Helpful, great staff, great prices, overall good experience. I love browsing this place, and its hard to leave without spending anything lol
There is always someone right there to help if they arent busy helping someone else
We had a wonderful experience at this store! The customer service manager, Andrew, went above and beyond in servicing our guitar and taking the time to educate along the way. We will most certainly be back!
It is what it is. Only went cuz I had a gift certificate. Would much rather give my business to local shops like Arthurs, Pings, 6 Stings Down or IRC
Great place to shop for my music accessories. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I will always go back and do my buisness with them.
I get the best service there.
Ran out of beginner guitar kits. But so has everyone else.
I enjoy visiting the Guitar Center. The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect. You can smell the rock and roll in the air.
Great service!
Love this store. It is the best music store for everything you need. They also want you to play the instruments and try things out. Other music stores are very touchy about that and a lot of them wont let you even try what you wanna buy til you buy it. Dont like that at all. Thats why Guitar Center is the absolute best period.
Tony is a great technician. He’s got me fixed up and rollin’ a few times. Donny is a gear head and can get you hooked up not only with solid stuff, but he’ll take the time to educate you on how to use it correctly. Solid dudes. I love my 80’s Twin Reverb 2 by the way!
First off, I usualy shop with Sweetwater Audio, but they didnt have the amp I wanted, which brought me to Guitar center. 6 monrhs later... All went down hill. Amp went silent. Wouldnt even turn on. Sweetwater helped me fix my amp, no charge, and restrung my guitar at the same time, no charge. All Guitar Center wanted was more money from me to fix the amp because, on top of the $700 I spent, I didnt buy their protection plan. Wont get another dime from me.
Clean organized and helpful. Workers know what theyre talking about and are more then willing to help.
Im really not a fan of the instore experience at G.C. except for the one in Merrilville In. Because i have gotten to know the guy that helps me at that location. As far as products you can usually find what you need but make sure if you are purchasing something new it is actually new.
Rude staff. Dimly lit. Not everyone wearing masks. As far as selection in not sure. Didnt have what I needed, but could still be fine.
As always, informed and helpful staff are on hand (in spades due to COVID right now.) current news on Chapter 11 filing doesnt seem to be a concern, staff are confident this store is here to stay!
Guitar center in castleton is one of the better guitar centers around Indy! Helpful staff and pretty knowledgeable.
I called to see if they knew when they would be open now that the governor is re-opening the state The first time I called it rang for about three minutes and no one picked up. The second time I called the guy made me feel like I was crazy for asking that. He gave me no information about the curbside pick up or how it works. I tried to utilize the online chat twice but no one ever got back to me or even emailed me when I provided an email addressI ended up going through Sweetwater. They had free shipping and actual customer service.
My daughter takes guitar lessons at Guitar Center and Allaria and the store manager have been the best staff I’ve ever worked with. They are both very personable, remember my daughters name and greet her every time we come for lessons and they truly want their students to succeed— it shows in their stellar customer service! My daughters teacher Jess has been equally fantastic, is very patient with her, makes lessons fun and sets clear expectations of practice setting her up to succeed. You can tell Jess enjoys her job. We’ve been very happy doing lessons and buying our guitar here, I can’t recommend it enough.
Very knowledgeable sales people.
This location is temporarily closed due to COVID. Reopening timeline is unknown. Previous experiences at this location have been good, hence the four stars. Just writing this review to advise others of the closure. Disappointing that the phone merely rings and rings and rings - no automated message telling you the location is closed.
This particular store is a lil rundown and messy, but the staff are great.. helpful, friendly. The covid arrows on the floor are insane. If u bring in ur kids, just tell them its a follow the arrows game. Itll keep them busy
Looks like new merch stacks inside the store!
My son and I had a great service experience at the Guitar Center in Castleton today. We had to wear masks and gloves (which they supplied) but that is ok given current COVID conditions. I bought my 9-yr old son a used Alvarez guitar youth size here a few years ago. Today we took it in to get a new string for it. The service was great! On Sundays they open at 12:00 -- FYI.
I always like going to music stores, but Ive never been to a Guitar Center in Indiana before. The guy working at the desk was very cool. He helped me find exactly what i needed. Also very knowledgeable. Would recommend going there, and i definitely will go back again
I had a great experience with my guitar lesson.
Customer support was excellent and they had a good variety of instruments
I play. Support live bands! 0(+>
This is a great store for guitar and music supplies. I came here to get a pack of Elixir acoustic strings and was able to easily find them. There was a two sided aisle for strings with ample selection. I thought the workers were really knowledgeable and willing to help me find what I was looking for. Also, bonus points if you took out on the guitars while youre there. If youre looking to sell any equipment, they will make an offer to you.
Kinda like the Lowes of music stores.
The man that waited on me was very helpful in advising me on my purchase.
Its a good shopping experience here in terms of the staff knowing their products. I just wish there was more effective communication between the staff and from the staff to customers. I had a piece of equipment I inquired about to an employee and it seemed that if that employee isnt there, then im out of luck. No one else would know of what i was inquiring about. Of course its nothing training or good management cant fix.
Always ready to help.Friendly staff.
Store was very busy. Staff was very helpful and very knowledgeable. Certainly a great place for a musician.
The staff at this GC have always been very professional and patient. I have been dealing with them regarding an unusual circumstance regarding a store quasi credit that was in limbo. It took a while but Andrew at this store was empathetic towards my situation and worked it out for me. Also Don at this location has always treated me professionally as well.
I came in and was slightly nervous/self-conscious about walking in and buying a beginners instrument, but the person at the front desk immediately made me feel at ease and really walked me through my purchase. From helping me pick out the right instrument for my height and preferences based on the sound that I wanted it to have all the way to showing me how to hold it properly and even remembering the notes, he was great. My excessive questions were answered very thoroughly and I walked out with my new Ukulele (I know its silly but gosh it is pretty) with plenty enough to get me heading in the right direction.Sidenote: Just walking in to see the humidity controlled guitar room was worth checking out.
Service is poor. I walked in and stood near the front register. A female employee walked right past me. Then a male employee walked past me and offered assistance to another customer who came in after I did. I will say the employee who eventually waited on me was very polite.
