I work here, and I can tell you that Gertens is run in a very professional manner, using updated information and protocols. I have no complaints, and look forward to work. Gertens has excellent plant materials, and cultivates excellence in employees as well.

Love that this is a successful, locally owned business that has been around for years. They grow, sell, and ship the majority of what is sold in their store. Service is great, prices higher than some. Knowledgeable, helpful staff and a great selection of plants, bird and critter food, and gifts. The place is always crowded on spring and summer weekends and is like a carnival on Mothers Day weekend with food vendors and overflow parking. Go on a weekday if you want to avoid crowds and get the best service and avoid long lines. They are popular for a reason though. If you enjoy gardening or want to dream of your next landscaping project, youre in the right place!

We went here to get seeds to start the garden. We come here often for garden and flower needs. They have a huge selection and lots of staff that is good. They are overpriced for a lot of things like plants and pots but have the most. Also they dont allow my dog so it sucks . Not bad though oh and a side note They cut to order xmas lights which is cool and we have done that here

We purchased three Wichita Blue Junipers from Gertens. They have an excellent selection of plants and their staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. We had the plants delivered and planted by Gertens. The plants were delivered on time and in excellent condition. The two Gertens staff did a great job of planting the trees. Highly recommend Gertens.

Had a trailer load of plant worth of $2,100. The guy was loading it, was just chucking the plants in the trailer and broke the plastic pots. Also was stacking the bushes which I didnt like, he also had a horrible attitude.

First time shopping down at Gertens was a success! I was wanting a unique pom style evergreen tree and found a perfect one! I had a lot of questions about how to plant and care for it (and other plants I was purchasing) and needed to find a knowledgeable person to ask. The first person they sent to help was I think sent to help move a tree, and that wasnt the help I was looking the at the time. I found an older gentleman named John sitting by a kiosk under an umbrella, and he was beyond helpful! He knew all the things and patiently answered my multitude of questions. Were 52 min away and we were worried about getting the funky topiary scotch pine tree home carefully. I talked to Geno about delivery and theyre delivering everything we bought tomorrow for $59. Feel like thats a super fair price as we wouldve had to drive our gas guzzling truck and trailer instead of the lil car like we took instead. We def bought way more than we intended - they had way too many beatiful plants! Wish we lived closer!

The staff were very helpful. I dont know much about lawn care (fertilizing, seeding, watering, etc)... never really had to do anything before besides mowing.Jenny and Dave were very helpful and definitely increased my level of knowledge about how to properly care for a lawn. They also pointed out the organic products available versus the chemical-based.

I love, love, love this store. They stand behind their products. I have purchased plants in the past and they did not make it through a cold winter. Gertens replaced the plants within that year, no questions asked. We have gone here for several years to buy plants. However, they have an amazing Christmas selection of gifts and ornaments. They also have the best artificial tree selection available for purchase. The sales associates are helpful and help you find the perfect tree.

Absolutely amazing garden center with everything you need from pots to perennials. They grow what they sell so theres definitely a sense of pride that comes with every plant they sell.Selection of garden tools and accouterments is fantastic and the prices arent terribly high either.

Hit or miss on the house plant selection, sometimes they have a lot and sometimes not much. they do have a really good pot selection organized by color which is great! one of the only nurseries in the cities that is not dog friendly, so that’s a huge bummer.

I love everything about Gertens. Its clean and the air smells so good. The plants are all healthy and bright. The prices are a little high, but its worth it for the quality of plants you get.

We have always enjoyed our trips to Gertens. Not this time!! We were very disappointed in the availability/selection of perennials and what they do have is very expensive compared to other garden centers. There were no pond water plants for sale at all, other than some extremely poor looking water lettuce. Definitely not worth the 36 mile trip.

Went there with three friends as one was looking for a specific rock to edge her landscaping. They didnt have the 2 inch grey stone my friend needed, but would special order it. Gertens is huge and offers a variety of garden, cooking, gifts, landscaping, furniture and other products. Reasonable prices. Fun place to visit. Staff was pleasant, friendly and helpful. Could have spent all day there looking around.

I always find a great variety of plants and accessories. Gertens has great gifts too. The quality of the plants is top notch, healthy and vibrant. Sale prices are tough to beat.

I have always bought my flowers and things for my garden here and have had no problem. Until recently a very close family member bought a water fountain and they specifically wrote where they wanted it delivered and it instructions were not followed. And the service was terrible- they came talking aboutcharging a fee. And it was clearly written out where and anyone in the customer service should know how to read and make sure that the customers request are met. Will not be shopping here any longer.

This place is huge! They must have every plant you could dream up in here! Make sure you give yourself a good couple hours if you want to see everything they have.

You wont find another garden center that pays so close to the details. It is always clean and organized here, with workers always making sure everything is stocked/arranged to fill in gaps.There is always a huge selection and variety of flowers, plants, and gardening supplies. They are a bit more expensive than your meat and potatoes garden center but priced better than the other comparative places such as Bachmans

My husband and I were looking for hanging baskets and were waiting while Susan was talking to another customer. As she was showing me the type of containers my husband said we needed to go. Hehas problems with low BP and was feeling faint. He had been standing and it was warm in the store which affected his symptoms. I immediately started walking from the back of the store with him. Susan came right along with me. We made it to the bench by the entrance. Cindy, who had helped us look for flowers, came by. She got my husband a bottle of water. Then she had Susan get the containers we liked. Cindy went and got several choices of inpatients and soil. After we paid she got a w/c for my husband and helped me get him to the car. Kudos to both of them. They were amazing and we appreciate their kindness so much!!!

I have spent so many hours at this place purchased so many plants five of the trees that are in my yard numerous annuals and perennials and have never ever had an issue with a bad plant or anything like that. Indoor to outdoor plants everything is so many fact-filled people at this location I never feel a lack of knowledge from anyone.

I had a little bit of an adventure here because the tree I bought originally had the price at the end of the aisle for a pot size they did not have. Therefore I mistakenly thought the tree I picked out was about half the price than it really was. Once I finally did get a tree a worker volunteered to set it out at the pickup area while I paid for it and drove my vehicle over. It was a windy day and by the time I got back the tree had blown over. Luckily it was unharmed but they should really train their folks to be more cognizant. Overall the employees do seem to be pretty knowledgeable about their plants however.

So many wonderful flowers, shrubs, and trees! Gertens likely has the widest selection of any greenhouse/nursery in Minnesota. In fact, almost too much! It is easy to get paralyzed by the sheer number of available. But, just talk to the friendly staff. They are more than willing to talk your rest of about each plant. Oh, they also have an Amazon-rivaling amount of plant supplies, tools, and decor. Stop by, even if just to roam the selection and see pet plants and colors.

Love that they offer curb side. Im not brave enough to rumble with the crowds.

If you are looking for a wide variety of plants, trees, and outdoor living, this is a fantastic place! I have been impressed by the quality of the trees and plants we have purchased. Everything is well maintained and cared for. Unfortunately, I think that comes with a price tag, as most items are a little more expensive than other places, but it’s still the place to go for unusual gifts and beautiful landscaping options.

Great gardening place and greenhouse! They have lots of plants for both indoor and outdoor use. They also have landscaping supplies and lots of gardening tools and hardware. They also have staff that can give advice on plants, gardening and trees, which is really helpful. They also sell decorative pots, some patio furniture and other decorative garden accents. The staff were friendly!

They know how to grow beautiful flowers and plants! But you pay dearly for it! Thats the only bad thing about gertens is they charge SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING! Otherwise, employees are friendly, not always quick or knowledgable, but fun to look at all they have.

First time at Gertens, Ive found my new plant happy place!Update: In the past few months I have made multiple purchases from Gertens and had the unfortunate luck of buy multiple plants infested with SPIDER MITES! Gertens has wonderful selections but the pests problem is terrible. I will no longer be purchasing plants from them.

This place has everything you need for a garden or landscape project. I live more than 90 miles away but keep coming back because their selection is tremendous. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Ill definitely be back.

I love this store! They have so many plants to choose from. I also like the wild bird section. I love to look at all the feeders and houses you can buy for them. I also enjoy their gift section. Especially at Christmas time. They go all out for Christmas.

Despite it being busy, I visited on one of the first really nice days in spring, all of the staff were very friendly. At least 4 employees asked me if I needed help finding anything or how I was doing. The woman I spoke with about various decorative grasses was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. Highly recommend Gertens!

Gertens is the plant equivalent of Walt Disney World! So many plant options, friendly (and helpful!) staff, and non-plant gifts to choose from that you wont go home empty-handed. And the plants are so healthy! It was so difficult to pick the healthiest plant because they are such quality. And talk about varieties! You could spend hours here and Im excited for my next trip back

Had a great visit on Mothers Day. The selection of plants, herbs, and flowers are hard to beat. The staff is super helpful, and they really help you navigate to what youre looking for, and that saves time. Its a busy spot on the weekends, but worth it every time!

I have been a loyal customer at Gertens for years. After a recent experience, I will NEVER SHOP AT GERTEN’S AGAIN and I will tell the friends I’ve referred to Gerten’s about my bad experience. I brought in a plant that had been planted improperly in its Gertens container, and was dying as a result. I had it’s original receipt, and was asking a kind woman at the customer service counter about returning it. A manager in a blue Gerten’s shirt walked up and became verbally aggressive about my return. I was calm and did nothing that would warrant an unpleasant response. I have NEVER been treated so poorly, in such an unprofessional manner, made to feel as though I had done something wrong. NO COSTUMER DESERVES TO BE TREATED IN A VERBALLY AGGRESSIVE MANNER BY GERTEN’S STAFF OVER AN HONEST RETURN OF DEFECTIVE PLANT MATERIAL WITHIN THE ALLOTTED TIME. SADLY, I AM DONE SHOPPING AT GERTENS.

I am so disappointed with Gertens right now. I purchased $140 worth of plants from Gertens through my grandsons school fundraiser. One of the hanging baskets ($40) all of a sudden became limp and has since died. They said there is nothing they can do about it because its been over a month and accused me of not taking proper care of the plant. I assure you I DID take proper care of it. My other 2 plants are doing just fine. Please keep this in mind when you purchase plants from them. I will not purchase from them again! Michelle was rude and unapologetic to say the least about my situation. Her tone was rude and snippy. Overall a big disappointment!

We live near Alexandria. The perennials we have purchased over many years from Gertens come back year after year. Therefore, we continue to expand our flower garden with Gertens plants.Perennials from other garden centers just do not survive the way Gertens plants do.

Spoke with multiple people in different departments over the phone about weather or not they had a dwarf lemon tree and still couldnt get an answer. I thought these people were supposed to be knowledgeable about this stuff. I mean isnt that what they do. I felt like I was asking a kid from Walmart or home depot where something was. Remember the days when costumer service actually meant something boy I miss that. Ill stick with the mom and pop greenhouses from now on how disappointing.

Props to the operations manager!Bought an Upright Yew and Globe Arborvitae for our front beds which are just perfect. They are rooting well and seem of high quality and hardy! Cant wait to come back for more annuals...as truly, the varieties are endless!!I have found this to be MUCH better than a home depot or menards, and more affordable than a Bachmans. Ive also tried local nurseries...but those just didnt have as great of a selection as Gertens. Some things Gertens is great for like turf, and general plants. Other things they are not the price leader on, like quality hand tools (Felco etc) - they charge a premium.Ive not found better customer service on things like fertilizer and grass seed, and the delivery of bulk items is often reasonable. I wouldnt faithfully look to Gertens for everything but Id say if you need assistance and customer service you would be hard pressed to do better for advice. Im willing to pay more here for somethings but in other cases I think a little comparison is in order (Im looking at you Felco #2 for $90 at Gertens when the next closest competition can be has for somewhere in the $60s).Bottom line? Id pay 10% premium for the service Gertens provides, but Ill eye everything with skepticism when i see things like 50% mark-up beyond competitive pricing on items.

Amazing selection of plants...annuals galore. Supertunias (petunias you dont have to deadhead...supposed to spread 2) $3.79, callibrocha in more colors than I see other places $3.79, colorful giant-leafed coleus pk of 6 $7.99, vivid, strong, healthy zonal geraniums $3.79...just a few of my purchases. Reasonable prices for good product. I have never had a plant of theirs fail me.

Gertens Garden Center is a place where you can find just about anything you need for your gardens. I needed supplies for reporting my orchids and preparing the greenhouse where I will be growing them. I found everything I needed here. Theyre also starting to get their Spring plants and decorations in and it was so fun to look at everthing!
