Go elsewhere if you want half-baked excuses.The long version: for months, Ive been having problems with my driver-side window. Between numerous visits to other places, some body shops, some repair shops, nobody could seem to solve the problem, and I kept getting excuses about why they couldnt fix it. (Everyone blamed the age of the car, the age of the fiberglass, the weather stripping, and so on.)I wish Id come to Leatherneck to start with. The owner is a retired Marine, and the thing to know about Marines is that they dont give up--and that was reflected in the work. (And as luck would have it, the guy who did the work is a Chevy alum so he knew this kind of car very well.)Heres the kicker. There was an issue with the electronic lock on my drivers side door, which I had known about but which I didnt think to mention. They found the problem, and at my request not only fixed it, but also fixed the position of the door itself to make it more secure.So Ill reiterate what I said at the beginning: visit these people if you want solutions done right.

Very professional crew, it’s tough to find honest mechanics in any town let alone a military town but I would be comfortable sending anyone I know to them. They were knowledgeable, well-equipped, and didn’t try to give me the run around. Will be using them as my mechanics for as long as I am in Jacksonville.

As busy as they were with bigger jobs they were able to fit my transmission job in between and get it done in a timely fashion...and so far everything is working good! Not to mention the price was fair.

After realizing what the owner meant when I spoke to him, I realized I had been in the wrong when speaking to them. They purchased an engine for us and even looked out for our best interest when I seriously cussed the owner Allan out. I completely misunderstood what the situation was. These people are genuinely great people and I can’t thank Allan enough. I’m sorry to the owners for the trouble I’ve caused. Please come visit them if you’re in town! They’re a little shop and I believe veteran owned. Allan will use your money like it’s his own and get you a great deal!

Went for misfire on driverside. I had everything I needed to fix it got price 1,200 to install and 2.400 dollars later and my truck back with misfire on passenger side and they wanted 400 more to get it right. I felt ripped off

I wanted to mention my experience with leatherneck automotiveI am a gypsy salesman who was in Jacksonville selling to local shops 1 morning my 97 dodge ram van would turn over and not start . I have worked on my vehicles all my life, but I am lousy with sensors and electronics. well I was at motel 6 across the street and with everything I own in my vehicle I dont like having out of my site . so I brought it over and the next day he let me know it was the brain box which is what I figured. It took 2 days for it to come on and he kept it inside in the bay to keep it secure(most shops say to me they will and leave it out to be broken into). Well he got the brain box in and did a few other things for me. He also worked with me because I will not be back so any warranty on parts mean nothing so I still paid the price he charged for the box but when he bought it was in my name so if I had issues I could return it. He is a new shop family owned he spent his life working on vehicles for the marines. So he is used to doing what it takes to get a job done. his fellow mechanic was also a marine mechanic also. his sons works there helping his dad and learning the business and his wife works the front desk. I was very happy with the experience and they made a bad time allot easier for me.last thing is they have a couple of their dogs their everyday always friendly and cute of course. they do animal rescue and save animals from being destroyed by kennels and give them great lives with 3 young daughters who when I brought my sheltie over the cuddle my dog so much she did not want to leave.so if you need your vehicle repaired and you care about animals too keep in mind part of what you spend goes toward their dog rescue . and for those who want to help a vet owned business there is that too. I did not know any of that I just needed my van fixed so I could head out and he did that and they showed me a bit of who they are .Jeff

This was my first experience with the leatherneck automotive and it was an awesome experience. There customer service is impeccable they gave me a ride while they worked on my vehicle and it was completed in a very timely manner!!! I will definitely go back and recommend others..

Shoutout to Allen for his valuable knowledge. My car (2015 Chevy Equinox) was having some serious issues. I took it to him to see what was going on. After a quick test drive around the block and a through inspection once he got back to his shop, he was able to tell me what was going on and the best way to resolve it that made the most sense for my money. Totally recommend!

They dropped my leaking fuel tank and fixed the gas leak all within a small amount of time. Since getting my truck from them I have not had any issues with Ram at all.

I am new to the area and needed some work done on my car. Allen, Kelly and Chris were great to work with. They go over everything before they do the work. They treat you like a friend. I will not take my car to anyone else. Some places will take advantage of me because I am a woman, not this place. You can ask questions and they will answer them and explain it if you want. I am one very happy customer.

I came in here after finding out something inside my car had been cracked and was leaking oil everywhere. We are from out of state so I was very desperate to find someone who was honest and could fix our car. It was raining and the middle of the day when I pulled into this shop. Almost in tears and very very frustrated, I asked if someone could come outside and look at my car, as I had no idea what was going on. A man came out and gave me an honest answer on what was wrong. He looked me in my eyes and spoke to both myself and my husband. He explained things in a way I would understand (with me being completely car ignorant) and he didn’t try and sell or push something on us that we didn’t need. The service was incredibly fast, and my car was taken very good care of. These guys are incredible, very respectful, and fair with their prices. I’ve been to 2 other car shops here in town, one being a dealer, and I was treated like an idiot and most often ignored. Ladies they will treat you with respect and dignity, and won’t try and get over. I waited a few days just to make sure everything was all good, and sure enough it is. We will without a doubt be back for any car maintenance, as we have now made Jacksonville our new home.

This place was so professional and everyone I talked to about the price I paid said that was extremely cheap for what I got done. I went with them solely off reviews and I was not disappointed. I took my vehicle in to be repaired for what I was told was a transmission leak. I told them about what I was told was wrong and they took weeks to get back ahold of me. After the weeks it took for them to have an answer they told me I would need to have my transmission rebuilt for 4,000 bucks. At this time I needed the vehicle back and could not afford it. I took it back and started saving my money to just have a whole new transmission put in since I found it would be the same price at the dealer to be replaced rather than rebuilt. After months of saving when I could have used my money for more important things I finally took it to the dealer stating I want a new transmission. They diagnosed my car to be sure and told me there was NO TRANSMISSION LEAK and I only had a missfire. 200 bucks later my car is perfect. These guys were tryna to take money I didnt even have to fix a problem My car didnt have. Im not one to normally write reviews but I am very upset. Had I spent the money I would have just had to take it back in and these guys would never have refunded me for their screw up facts. I would be careful when bringing your vehicle to this shop.Oh Im sorry Ive tried to change my name for my google account. Not only did they have the cheapest oil change prices in the area but the work-ethic and honesty found here is rare especially in marine-filled Jacksonville. They gave me truthful car diagnostics and even coordinated with my warrant company to get full coverage on a part when they didn’t want to cover it initially. These guys are the real deal, a diamond among the rough for auto shops around here.

Helped me out when Sanders Ford wanted to charge me almost $600 to swap out a $60 starter. Super friendly and got my Escape going again quick even without an appointment. Highly recommend. They fix whats needed at a reasonable price.

They gave us an excellent referral for a place for tire service and wrote everything down so we could find our way there. Said my transmission was leaking needed a new one took it somewhere else and it’s fine no leak nothing at all I took it to the dealership after this place which is what I wanted to avoid the whole time they tried to just get 5k off me and it didn’t even need fixed

Are car broke down in Roanoke Rapids and since then weve been to at least 8 or 9 different shops. This one by far had the best customer service and friendliest staff, absolutely recommend, quick to work and very helpful!

Was stranded here, staff was extremely polite even offered to give me a ride where ever I needed, as well as food and something to drink. Their general hospitality alone has earned a permanent customer. Low competitive pricing. If you are looking for a long term mechanic, look no further.

They were really nice to me when I brought my car in for transmission problems and told me that my transmission needed to be replaced and that there was metal in my transmission fluid. I took my car to someone else for a second opinion and it turns out it was an electrical problem. The pan was dropped and the fluid was clean. I have a lot of mixed feelings about this and wonder why I would be lied too. Just learned to always get a second opinion 🤷🏼‍♀️Edit: the current mechanic working on my car said it was impossible to get a vacuum tool into the transmission to suck any fluid out and I was told all of the fluid wasn’t completely changed. The filter was also clean and didn’t have any metal pieces in it.

They did a job for me but they wanted to replace my transmission when it didnt need to be replaced. That was a year ago. 3,000 would have been spent unnecessary. NTB did a awesome job repairing my issues.

These people are so great!!! I had a problem with my air and they went above and beyond to fix it for me. Since my husband and I are not from this town it’s kinda hard to know who you should take your care to especially when you come from somewhere that you have used the same person for years. Well I can confidently say that you won’t be dissatisfied or regret if you go to these guys!! The woman that answers the phone is super helpful too!! All around A+!!!!

Honest and they do good work, fixed my own car but my issue remained so I brought it in for them to fix. Mechanic came out and talked to me. Got a call back there next day letting me know that there was just some residual oil that was still making my engine smoke. The cleaned it out and resolved my issues. I usually like to diagnose and fix my own car issues but there is no doubt I will bring my car here for anything serious and I highly recommend them to any of my friends. If you want a fair and honest place to get your car fixed then you found it.

This place is awesome! I was given an estimate at the Chevy dealership for $360 to replace the coolant reservoir and $100 for diagnosing it and leatherneck replaced the reservoir for only $99 including tax. Plus they had it done and ready to pick up in less than a day. Great customer service, definitely recommend!!!

I made an appointment to take my car to replace an axial after the dealership quote a price of $836 without tax. Leathernecks had gotten really great reviews so I thought I would give them a try. Everything that was said in the previous reviews is true. Alan is a master. Hes personable, knowledgeable, honest, and does quality work at a very reasonable, fair price. This is a family run business. Alans wife is also very knowledgeable and personable as well. They were very accommodating when I had a question about the preformance of my car after service from there and the dealership where some recall and updates were done. Alan drove my car and assured me that all was well. My car is performing perfectly. I highly recommend Leathernecks auto service. Hands down the best ever!!!!

This has got to be the most family friendly vehicle service I have ever had. There were multiple issues with my Jeep Wrangler ever since I flipped it several years back. They were able to replace all my seals, repair threads on my caliber bracket, tighten all nuts and bolts that were rattling, reinstall my sway bar which also had stripped threads, and finally weld my bumper back on! I wouldnt recommend anyone else except for these guys. Just based on my minimal motor t operator knowledge they can do any job and will not rip you off. Show them respect and they will show it back. Well where do I start, I’ve been going to Allen now for the past few years, he’s worked on my 70 c10, my 94 suburban and my 2000 bmw. They have always treated me and my cars right, if there was an issue they will call to let you know, as well as do what it takes to get it done. He does great work no matter what. Took my LeSabre there to repair the horn. Got the car back and the horn still didnt work and now the security system was preventing the car from starting. Took it back and it took a month to fix.My second car I took there for an alignment and other service. Car sent out to a 3rd party shop for alignment. Left keys for me to pick it up and the alignment is way off.As I live in New Bern and its hard to take a car so far to be fixed I now have to pay for another alignment.

These guys are great. Brought my truck in to check if there was a coolant leak somewhere. They filled the radiator and reservoir with coolant, ran a pressure test and based on what I told them we discovered there was no leak. They couldve charged me for their expertise and pressure test service but didnt. I appreciate their honesty and will definitely be coming back for future service! Highly recommend! Semper Fi!

I was referred here by a friend because we are new to town and wanted an auto shop we could trust. To many times I have received the run around about what my car REALLY needs. Took it in for an oil change and tire rotation. My brakes were also a little squeaky and I was worried I needed new brake pads. I dropped it off at 9am and it was done by 9:40am. Oil change, tire rotation and they even checked my brakes. The best part is I just had sand on the brakes and didnt need new ones! I love how honest they were with me and how they didnt try to make me buy something my jeep really didnt need. They checked my 2003 Honda Civic before a long drive I had to make. They replaced a power steering hose, 2 new tires and an oil change very reasonably priced and above and beyond customer service.

As an auto dealer we know how important it is to take care of customers and keep great reviews. We sold a customer a VW Golf that ended up having an a/c problem shortly after. As a used dealer we dont have to help repair it due to selling the vehicle as-is but we stand by our cars and always help our customers. Honest to a fault! Talked to Allen about a transmission problem my 2012 Camry was having -- I wasnt sure what it could be. Rather than be like all the other repair shops in town and try and have me leave my car to do the repairs, Allen suggested I check to see if there were any factory recalls, or maintenance bulletins, on the vehicle before attempting to do any repairs. Turns out he was Right! ...There was a recall from Toyota to fix the problem. Long story short, Toyota did the repairs ($1,400.00 worth) and it cost me $0.00! Thanks again Allen ...Youre the only guy in town I trust!

Call ahead of time for a oil change was told to come at 11 to get it done, got there at 11 the guy said they r almost done with the car in front of me...over a hour later my car hasn’t even been taken back..I had to leave I will make sure to go somewhere else.

Dealership told me 115$ just to check my car out. This shop looked at my car. Told me exactly what was needed without charging just to look at it. They will definitely get all my business. Very friendly mechanic that didn’t make me feel like an idiot.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful this shop is! Kelly and Allen are amazing. Some one referred me to thia shop to have work done on my 05 Nissan Maxima. I called about a bad cat asked them if they could put it on. Allen looked it over and said that thats not what needed to be done. He could have easily did the work and charged me and I would have known none the wiser. He fixed the actual problem and I had him do my breaks and roaters as well. It was cheaper than anywhere else I had called and I had my car back in 2 days. The very next I heard a knocking under my car and Kelly told me to bring it right back in. They looked it over again at no charged and told me if I needed anything to just call them. I will NEVER go anywhere else! From oil changes to major repair I will always choose them!
