I WAS IN AN EXTREME RUSH BOTH OF MY TAPS CAME OUT THE BOTTOM OF MY SHOES. I HAD TO PARK ILLEGALLY TO RUN IN AND GET A TAP FOR MY SHOES THAT I WAS CURRENTLY WEARING AT WORK. I revised from 5 to 1 star. I am a long term customer but now exploring my options. My tread started to come off both of my sneakers and they wanted $45 for 3 min task of 4 of glue.

I absolutely LOVE this place! I was nervous about them repairing the handle to my VERY expensive Brahmin Bag but they did an amazing job.

Very good store if you are interested in repair or conditioning of shoes, leather bags, etc. And if you want intriguing purchases, then also check them out. Stacy Adams, Pelle Studio, Wilson Leather, etc. The most interesting, though pricey, is Guss own signature hand-mades. Check them out. Keep in mind any work you request from Gus has to be paid upfront when you bring your items in. I have attached pics of a bag I purchased.

My wife and I travelled from Orlando to Gus & Company in Jax for warranty repairs on a couple of fine Briggs & Riley luggages for our son who was in town. What a wonderful place, what wonderful gentlemen and craftsmen Gregory and Lee (father and son). They performed so wonderful service and work, done on the spot, in spite of being busy at the time (including an executive of a national bank with regional HQ in Jax). I think Briggs & Riley should be proud to have these guys represent their brand. And we’re proud to have made the decision to travel up from Orlando to Jax to have Gus and Company service our son’s luggages.

BEWARE!!! I had shoes dyed here for a wedding. They were there over a month and after 2 attempts did not match my dress and THE SHOES DIDNT MATCH EACH OTHER! They never apologized or offered a refund. I wasted over $100!!!

Thank You. Tony!!Long story short, I was hit and run by a drunk driver while riding a little shooter. My femur was broken and sticking out, my clavicle was broken, and my right ring finger was mangled at the tip.Needles to say I couldnt move much for the EMT people go there so they had to cut off my clothing right there in the street, including my favorite boots.Well, now that Im luckily alive and can be concerned about my favorite boots, I took them down to this shop too see if anything could be done. The staff there was super nice and accommodating.Tony fixed my boots and put new soles on them and I couldnt be happier with the whole experience. I highly recommend!I also recommend not just going there for shoe repair related stuff. but to go and look at some of the high end cases, and other leather works that Tony has made with his own hands... WOW!!

Gus & Co. did a fantastic job repairing my shoes... they are worth the trip!

They help and were very determined to fix the issue. A holster I was given did not fit correctly and the company who made it did not want to fix it. The guys worked it out and did a great job. I would recommend them for any work needed.

Hate to rate 3 stars, had no choice, the Veteran of the business, was as KIND and HELPFUL as can be (his usual self, have dealt with him at least 20+ years). The younger, snappish (reason I deducted 2 stars) was not very customer friendly. As a matter of fact, he seems as if he didnt want the Veteran to try to help me. Then told the Veteran to charge me $18 for an old Samsonite luggage key. I was trying to save the luggage to donate to Goodwill (but not pay $18 for a key, that I REALLY do not NEED). Was very disappointed, Ive NEVER been in The Gus Shoe Shop of Jacksonville, FL and left as upset as I was. Have dealt wuth this shop since I was a child and they were located in about 200 west Forsyth next to Seminole Hotel. I can tell the Young Angry Rep Every Location Gus and Company have been since 200 block of West Forsyth Street.(1960s)

2 stars because the heels of my works boots were cut off like I wanted them to be, no issues there.The issue is that the soles NEVER stay adhered to the boot anymore.First time I picked them up (in January) I had an inkling that this would be an issue based on a small gap in the arch area of the sole to boot glue area.Went to work out of town and the entire sole fell off, i had to use some spray adhesive to keep it in place while I worked. Had the sole stayed square and true to the boot(i only let the glue set over night when the glue required 24hrs because work never stops) i wouldve left it in place because it was a better adhesion than this places attempt...Once i got back in town i brought them back for rework (end of February) and not even a month has passed and the same thing happened again.Fool me once, shame on you.Fool me twice, shame on me.This will not be a repeated mistake.

These guys were awesome! I brought in a pair of relatively new work boots that our dog chewed a nice hole in and had new soles put on a pair of loafers. They were very nice and told me they could do both jobs. After a few days, I picked up our boots and loafers and headed home. When i got home i realized the hole in the work boots was not fixed to my boyfriends liking so i called Gus shop to tell them the dilemma and they told me to bring them right back! I brought them back a few days later and they were happy to fix the boots to our standard. Great customer service! I am needing a zipper replaced on a backpack, I know where i will take it! I dont think they could have handled the situation any better. Thank you!

Im new to JAX and needed a slight repair on my Chanel bag, trusted the reviews and brought it in, JUNIOR looked at it, fixed it and handed it back to me! No charge... it took him 30 seconds and he just couldnt see charging for something so simple!How do you get a new customer for life???? Show this kind of integrity!!! Impressed.

I went here 4 times for the same exact dress all i wanted was a new zipper put on my dress but instead they kept truing to replace the same one to make it seem like it was fixed but everytime i got uome an tried it on the zipper was still broke i tried to get my money bck they didnt want to do that i had to dispute it with my bank just to get my money bck 1 start outta 5 dont recommend

I took several pair of shoes in to be repaired and paid in advance. When I picked up the shoes I was terribly disappointed!! The scuff marks was still there my heel was still chewed and last but not least my shoes was to different colors after they were to be cleaned. This was truly upsetting being that charges werent cheap and after hearing such great reviews. I wont even give the sevice a 1 but I had to choose a rating

I borrowed a friend’s Patagonia jacket to travel up north with. The zipper got off track so I brought it in to be repaired. He fixed it before my eyes within one minute and explained how to avoid it happening again. No charge. Honest business with integrity.

I walked in for new taps on my heels. I was immediately greeted with a smile and the shoemaker said to me “if you have two minutes, I can fix your shoes.” I went outside to wait and within a few minutes, the shoemaker appeared with my shoes..ready to go. Quick quality service. I had one pair completely re-soled and two heel replacements done for a reasonable price. If you’ve got shoes you just can’t part with, this family business is the place to go to get them refreshed.

Gus’s shoe repair saved my tote bag! My daughter’s blue crayola magic marker leaked in my bag and I tried to get the stain out myself. My efforts left huge whitish blue stains and removed the saddle color in the leather (lesson learned! 😬)They managed to fix it and it looks good as new!They gave me a price I felt was fair, and though not a cheap fix (and I wasn’t expecting it to be cheap), I certainly got what I paid for!!!!

Brought my pair of favorite dress shoes for resole. Met JR at the counter. Great customer service. Pricing on resole is similar to the price I paid in Fort Lauderdale. Cant wait to see the final product.

I had a terrible experience with a simple re-heeling 2 pairs of my favorite pumps while I lived in LA and was scared to try someone new again. Knowing Gus & Co from my time in FL, I shipped them both pairs of (seemingly ruined) heels, two pairs of heeled boots (Id walked in them so much the heels were loose), and a pair of sandals that Id practically walked completely through. All 5 pairs are fixed perfectly and Im happy to say that Gus & Co will be handling all of my shoe-repair needs in the future.

The price is reasonable and the work was completely in a very efficient manner. I would definitely recommend this establishment and plan on returning.

I have been here several times in the past few years. Most of the work is marvelous, but what impresses me most is the way they stand behind any work I have ever had a problem with.Whenever I come in with my ticket they go right to my shoes on the shelf. If I forget my ticket they ask me to wait a moment while they retrieve the shoes of other customers who have their tickets, which I completely understand. It amazes me that the negative reviews are from people who dont bring their claim ticket and expect the guy to know right where their things are or to make the people who brought their tickets wait.

I was in need of my luggage piece to be repaired, as I was setting out to travel the next morning...he originally said 3 weeks but, jumped me in front of the other pieces that were waiting...and he also fixed my purse. I am so thankful for finding this business. They are my new favorite people and business!!!!!

This place is great! I am from out of town and was in Jville for business. I needed my suitcases zipper fixed asap as I was leaving in a day. Guss was able to fix my suitcase within the hour and for a reasonable price, and they are very nice. Thank you guys!

Ive brought in some pretty bizarre projects for them and they did an OUTSTANDING JOB on every one of them. None of which were shoe repair.

My first time using here, and will not be my last. Quality work, and knowledgeable staff, at wells road office.

After reading the reviews, I will not go there. I called for a price estimate and the person who answered was very short with me and rude. He just kept saying Have to look at it. I understand that, but try being more polite about it. With others saying that the service is bad and from my phone call, I will not waste my time with someone who is rude to me when I am willing to pay them to fix something.

I absolutely love this place. I dont work downtown anymore and patronized a place on Baymeadows recently, needless to say I would rather make a trip downtown then deal with anyone but Guss ever again. You just cant beat their quality work and super duper friendly staff.

Had to take the shoes back so they fix them the way I wanted ( wanted a rubber sole on the bottom of my toris like it had before) and they did it no question and were very kind. Would go back.

I would like to share what I can say has been the worst customer service experience I have ever had in my life. I went to Gus with my samsonite suitcase which I paid a lot of money for to have a wheel replaced. The owner made me understand that it will be an easy fix. After waiting 2 months a call from them they told me they replaced my suitcase with an identical model. I went to pick up my new suitcase and discover that not only it was not the same model. I told them I didnt want it since they told me it will be replaced by the same suitcase. I then asked to get my suitcase with the broken wheel so I could take care of the problem during one of my trip in Paris at the samsonite store. The owner told my suitcase it was not longer in his possession which was untrue as I saw it taking apart being him! As the owner was rude to me I decided to come back with my husband the next day to take of the situation. The next day the suitcase was gone and the owner told us that we should talk with samsonite. In short this place should not be in business. One thing for sure not only will I never go back there but I would recommend to anyone to do business with them.

Great for doing elevations on one or both boots. Had them do a pair of boots for me, nothing was wrong with them but I wanted them a little bit different and they redid them without any problems.

Called ahead to discuss replacement. Guy said sure bring it in we have a lot of parts. Drove downtown and paid for parking. Showed the counter guy the plastic handle I needed and he said we dont sell parts we are only contracted to repair. Thus this 1 star review. If I could Id give it negative stars. If youre a fixit yourself person, dont waste your time with this business.

BUT I give them another chance ...i go to get some soles place on some Cole Hann shoes ..so on to the pickup day, this Guy asks for my ticket. Sorry I dont have my ticket ....name, before I tell him that he interrupts me with whats your number before I get that out when are they suppose to be done...today I reply...then looks threw a box of old shoes....I say to him I sure hope my shoes arent in there he reply I sure hope they are!!!....CLASSIEST SHOE REPAIR SHOP EVER SIKE THESE GUY WILL NEVER GET MY BUSINESS AND I HOPE YOU READ THIS AND DO THE SAME!!!

I had gone to Gus to repair work boots with zippers on the inside of the ankle and he had to redue them twice in about 6 months because the work was shoddy. Now 6 mos later i brought them back againand he wants to charge me $75 plus tax to fix again.Will not trust him anymore to repair anything.
