Worst rental experience ever. Rented the truck at 8 am the day prior. Was told by the employee to drop the truck back off next day by 8 am. I arrive at the location at 7:57 and was told by Frank Rudy (the same employee who told me to return by 8am) that he can’t help me until 9am and if he does help me he’s charging me a $20 fee. I’ve included the rental contract and the text message confirming the time the truck was due back. I recommend never to do business with Frank Rudy or General Manager Thomas Quillen again. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I’ve worked in retail for 10+ years and have never experienced anything like this.
The most rude and inconsiderate attitude. It was a shock that I havent had to deal with in a long time. I hope they have plenty of business because they will NEVER get any of my money. Ill spend my money where it is appreciated.
3129 southside blvd jax fl 32216 ishorrible. i reserved a truck for 1000. it got cancelled just before I picked it up by the regional mngr yvonia, for some unknown reason. i called corporate and got it reinstated, but then counter peon, thomas (low energy, but lots of weird facial expressions) decided he didnt like me so, he refused to rent to me. he wanted a secondary person or cosigner or something that i never heard of before and is definitely not on the website when you make your reservation. uhaul is a joke. just go to penske, ryder, or home depot. home depot has unlimited milage and no hassles. i did call corporate and barbara gave me regional. regional yvonia sd it is a policy, but few franchises actually utilize it. she said to complain online to corporate in phoenix az, which i did, but corporate offices never alert other potential victims of their terrible corporate practices or low energy, disgruntled, minimum wage, employees the way google reviews does. got the hookup drone home depot at less cost with much more professional people and policies. in the end a terrible uhaul experience all worked out even better at home depot.
Well, theyve managed to lose a long time customer. I drive 15 miles in my RV every month in order to fill my tank with propane at this location.The gentleman that was working said that he was unable to fill my tank because he was the designated inside the shop guy, and although there was nobody there, there was NO WAY he could accommodate me, in any way, shape, or fashion. And, yes I told him how far I traveled for his business.
Ms. Nellie is awesome and very helpful. Ill be dealing with her for all my UHaul needs!!
Great location staff is always nice and professional
Never use this location or company. The equipment is old, dirty and worn out. The associates would rather argue than find a why to say yes. Don’t buy boxes and believe you can return unused ones like they tell you. There are many good options out there, U-haul is not one of them. Read all the reviews before choosing.
Make a reservation and go there and get told there is no truck. Go earlier in the week when there are trucks and get told they are all reserved. How do you win here?
Manager Thomas instantly took over and handled a dilemma that occurred with my reservation. He took care of me and my situation and handled it very professionally and nicely.

Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. The General Manager ( Thomas) has the worst customer service and really dosent care if he gets your business or not.
This place is awesome. So helpful and put my hitch on same day and within a hour. Other Uhual locations didnt want to install, turned me away and wanted an appointment. I highly recommend these guys and location. Beyond impressed
Driver failed to pick box on schedule because we were in the back yard. She said she could see us through the door but because we couldnt hear her knock from the backyard she left rather than walking around the side of the house to get our attention.
Thomas was very helpful when we found a issue with my vehicle trailer hookup wasn’t working. He could have easily told me to go to the dealership. Instead he helped diagnose and fix the issue.
Recommendation invest in customer service training. If you can sum up an awful customer experience from start through practically the end of the rental Jacksonvilles Southside & Beach BLVD location is the perfect example with one exception. When I initially got the rental it was a damp, misty day- gross weather for Jacksonville. Nonetheless the person who assisted me was not friendly by any means. He took my information when through the normal steps but made me complete the walk around alone when I had questions he simply referred me to the website link that I was sent for help. There were not other customers in the store while I was there either. The truck windshield was not clean and the wheel literally turned to the right to drive straight because of bad alignment. When I had questions about the gas I was told just take a picture and upload to the app. I understand the weather was not nice but to send a costumer outside while there are questions about the truck rental is unacceptable. While having the rental I called the location prior to leaving Jacksonville to drive cross county to advise the headlight on the left side was out was there anything that could be done about it, I was told no just call roadside assistance unless I wanted to fully unload the truck and switch it out. So I was left with a faulty truck, I simply wanted to see if instead of waiting on roadside assistance if there was a UHaul location that could replace the headlight, thus I asked to speak with the manager. I had to ask 3X to speak with a manager who finally came to the phone- Thomas. I could hear Thomas with the phone in his hand covering up the mic When he finally answered the phone he hung it up! I did not even have the opportunity to speak with him. As a result I called back the phone answered and literally hung up on again. At this point I am frustrated that I was disrespected so I called customer service who sent a Direct Message to Thomas (store manager) because the rep could see he was online to give me a call back. 3 days later I still have not heard from Thomas. On the second day I called back to see who is above him and had a completely different experience from the assistant manager (please promote Maurisha she was the absolute opposite very nice and apologetic) Due to only one person that is the only reason I say there is possibly an exception to the horrific customer service at this location. The location (NOT THIS ONE) where I returned the truck also very kind, helpful and informative.
Just wanted to say that Deborah, the General Manager, is excellent. I called yesterday to reserve a trailer, but they did not have the one I was looking for available. They did, however, have one that needed some lights fixed so she assured me she would have it looked at to see if it could be easily fixed. She followed up with me the following day, but unfortunately said the aforementioned trailer was not usable. So after doing some digging, we found a trailer at another location, but would have been difficult to arrange pick up working with my schedule. Last but not least, she called me back a few hours later to let me know her location had one come available, which allowed me to keep my same work schedule and still have time to pick it up.The point here is that she went above and beyond in many ways, and provided me with excellent customer service. I would highly recommend working with her and her crew. Thanks again!
Rented a small trailer to haul some furniture home from Costco. Picked it up on short notice. Tom was very helpful in getting it hooked up to our car even though I could tell he was busy with lots of other work on a Saturday. Very satisfied -- staff seems customer focused.
As someone who had never rented a U-Haul before and strictly handled the whole process online with no help, I was worried about making sure I got the best deal for my trip. I called his location and Maurisha Baisden assisted me - she was AMAZING! Ms. Baisden spent a lengthy amount of time on the phone with me to make sure I was getting the proper equipment for my move, and by the end of our conversation I knew exactly where to go, what to bring, and saved over $100 on my trip! She was patient, courteous, and helped me get the best deal. Thank you to her for her great customer service and made me much more comfortable in renting U-Hauls moving forward!

The customer Service from Steve was impeccable. Couldnt ask for a more friendly staff or better service then I received at this store. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is thinking about giving this store their business. 5 out of 5 stars for these guys!!

We had a very disturbing experience at this location. It’s alarmingly easy for the employees and manager, Deborah Edwards, to work together to steal from customers. We returned a vehicle undamaged, yet we were charged $150 for damage they can’t prove exists. Suspiciously, $150 is the maximum amount the contract states you can be liable for if you purchase their insurance coverage. Deborah refuses to provide a photo of the alleged scratches from a distance that proves it’s the same vehicle. She said it’s not possible based on the location of the damage, yet refuses to provide a video that would prove it is that vehicle. The photo provided is an extreme close up of a scratch. Based on the background of this picture it is not possible to be the same vehicle. The link we were sent to review the condition of the vehicle at the time of rental expired after 15 minutes. This time limit was not disclosed, nor listed in the contract. The link was also not sent until 15 minutes after leaving the store. It’s quite a convenient way to determine who you can scam and hope it goes unnoticed. Deborah also texted from her personal phone, instead of sending photos from her Uhaul email address when we were corresponding. This was incredibly unprofessional and I would assume how she can try to stay under the radar. I highly discourage you from using this Uhaul location. Others in the area are much more trustworthy.

Best price on moving boxes in Jacksonville - Seriously, I checked.Parking lot is miniscule & very awkward.Staff didnt offer me any help with the task of dragging out the stacks of boxes purchased from the pallets inside to my vehicle.If I had know this going in, I would have worn gloves and saved myself a nasty cut in my hand when the boxes slipped.Anyway, if you get passed the park in issues and the less-than-helpful staff, youll walk away with a great deal on moving boxes.
I get my propane fills here. The service is not always quick but always friendly. Price is pretty competitive.
Me and a friend asked if we could co pay for a truck and the lady said we could. We both swiped our cards and moved our things. When we returned the truck we were told that only one of our cards were charged because they cant split the cost between two cards- yet 34 dollars is on hold on my account for uhaul. Both my bank and uhaul blame each other for this. Dont trust the people who work here. They will give you false information and take more money than you owe them.
Went there twice for trailer rental! Staff was very nice and got the trailer hooked with my SUV properly! Highly recommend
They rip you off on the gas. They charge 1.50$ per gallon on top of the regular price per gallon. Gas is 2.05$ yet they charged me 50$ for 1/4 tank. And thats their right to do so, but none of that is mentioned or posted anywhere when signing the contract. Had I have known that is wouldve spent the extra 1.60 to drive the 2 miles to the gas station and back. Gas shouldve been 25$...not 50$. Never getting another penny from me
Went to return a one-way rental of a trailer. Guy unhooked it and had me sign some paperwork and I was on my way. So easy and very accommodating.
Made an appointment for a hitch install 30 minutes before getting there. I was greeted with a smile and the install happened quickly and smoothly.
This location needs better sinage. Theres no clear place to park. I parked in a spot and was asked to move my car before receiving services. The spot I chose to park in did not display that I shouldnt, and it was clearly marked with painted parking boundary lines.
I made a appointment a week ahead to get my truck wired for electric brakes. They took me in ahead of time and finished up early. Answered all my questions. Very professional.
Only one person in the entire place, on a Sat, which is a typical moving day. Why? So now we have 20 people waiting, and reach person takes about 15 min to get through

We will never use this location again! We had horrible experiences on two different occasions. The first I had gone in to rent a truck. The employees were decent enough, not overly friendly. The employee that took care of my rental was cordial, and then obviously felt relaxed enough to start using profanity left and right, even dropping the f word! I gave him a look, but he just kept on going! To top it off when we went out to the truck, he got all flirty on me.Second time rental was even worse. This time it was my husband. The employees were rude, obnoxious, and bossing customers around. Appalling. Their rental trucks are also in desperate need of fixing. You feel like youre taking your life in your hands climbing into one! We will not return to this Uhaul location. Bad behavior from multiple employees at different times screams bad management.

Only two people when we picked up a trailer. Its was a bit of a wait. Management was disorganized, but apologized for the wait. Hectic and long lines, be prepared to wait if you only see two people assisting customers and the line growing. Busy mornings, you must have the staff to support.

I have to say that this UHAUL location really turned around, what could have been, a completely unpleasant experience.Today I tried to rent a trailer from another location and was unsuccessful due to a UHAUL corporate credit card processing issue. Don’t ever go to Jax Mall Storage on St. Johns Bluff, they completely unprofessional and rude.UHAUL on Southside and Beach had me in and out in less than 15 minutes AND they had the same credit card issue. They called corporate and manually authorized my transaction and I was on my way.Thank you !!
They ruined my morning today. dont go there.I rented a truck, then realized I need bigger one, they dont want to change it, they wanted to charge full day for just one hour, even I continue thier service. Thus I paid and quit. Poor business practices..
Very poor business practices, i have rented trailers from them a couple of times, The last time i rented one of their unsafe crappi trailers i used it for half day brought it back and they charged me 2 days. Regardless i was able to recover my money but now because of these losers i have an account in collections for that. People never ever rent their trucks, they are old un maintained and unsafe, dont let the 29.99 per day fool you, it is the milage that they get you on. Anyways, if you evr need a truck go penske or budget, dont do business with these son of a b-----s.
