Ill break this review in two parts. First, the food. The food was pretty good. I had the Creole Queen Plate with their Crawfish Julie sauce. Great seafood flavors. The biscuits were grilled to get crisp and were very tasty. The loss of a star was for service. Our initial waitress was very unattentive. It took a while to get refills in a half-full restaurant. We had to send a couple things back for mistakes but unfortunately one of our group still had severely undercooked eggs on their plate (photo). All the food was good otherwise. Nice place for breakfast overall.
I give Dots a solid four, for the food, and nice service. Quaint little place. Off the beaten path (if youre visiting N.O.). We were leaving hospital after spending the night and Dots was right there.
Diner diner is my favorite place to come in the mornings, the staff is always so pleasant and the dining room is always so clean! And The coffee is absolutely to die for ❤️
Went into facility today after swearing a few months ago I wouldnt be back. I was very impressed on how clean the place was. The young lady that waited on us was a pleasure. It took a little while for the food to come out. We where told ahead of time tho by Ms. Cindy that they where busy and it may take a little longer than normal which was very nice of them. The food was good and hot when we got it. Couldnt ask for better experience today. Keep up the good work. Will tell our friends
I have got to say dots diner has the best ham biscuits Ive ever had!! I come in every morning and eat one, I just cant get enough
My wife and I have been in New Orleans for about 2 weeks after this hurricane trying to help folks get back on their feet and dots diner has been the only place open in the area 24/7 that the employees always have a smile on their face and serving delicious hot food. Highly recommend if ever in the area, under any circumstances.
The waitress was amazing. She was so sweet. In fact, we had two. They were both sweet and tagged teamed to just serve the two of us. The food was plentiful and very good. My husband and I took doggy bags home.
Im sure that this is normally a good place or was at one time but I wasnt happy. We didnt even get our food after sitting for 40min. We eventually just left. The young girl working apologized and said we just get really busy on the weekends. Sounds like you need a new system in place. The restaurant was not full and not one person had food on their table. We were all just looking around tapping our fingers. The coffee refills were flowing but no food. The to go orders, however, were flying out the door.
Went in for decaf coffee for sis in hospital across street. Server brewed just for me. Handed me a huge to-go cup and waved away the money. Said, Tell your sis to get well quick Wonderful!

GREAT BUILDING OUTSIDE, INSIDE IS DECORATED NICELY. STAFF IS VERY NICE, HELP EACH OTHER OUT FOR CUSTOMER. GOOD CHOICE OF FOOD ON MENU. WIFE AND I WERE VERY PLEASED WITH FOOD LOOKED GOOD,TASTED GOOD, GOOD PORTIONS. GOT TO GIVE IT A TRY, WONT BE DISAPOINTED
Had a little wait after ordering because they were busy, but they kept us supplied with coffee. Ample servings. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Was very excited to try this location of Dots after the closing of the Airline location. I have to say it wasnt the best experience. It took a while to be seated even though there were empty tables and no line. The couple who came in behind us got their order taken before ours. I also noticed there was a four top that was already seated before us and still had menus even after we had given our order. Those people ended up leaving after we got our food and they had just given their order. I noticed they tried to get the servers attention but couldnt manage to do so.My dish was just as I had ordered it, but my dates order looked so sad and bland. It was missing the gravy because my date asked for it on the side. She never got it but we were charged for it. We were never offered refills on our drinks either.Someone needs to take a closer look at how the place is run and try to get the place in order. I know Dots can do better because Ive experienced it in the past.
Slow service Applewood bacon tastes like burnt oak wood they did nothing right here want go back terrible service food wasnt cooked the way I ordered it stood in line 30 minutes to pay for the foood
This place used to be good, 5 stars. Today it was a disaster. Orders wrong cold and late. Tables dirty and servers unable or unwilling to do their jobs. Thank you Uncle Joe, this is what you get with democrats.

I came in, in a bad mood. The waitstaff is so awesome!!! They were so friendly and tried theyre harder to make me feel right at home. The food was superb, and I even ordered food Togo for dinner. I love this place and will be back!!!
Good food, I was here for lunch, very nice service and it was pretty quick with the food too. The club sandwich was really good and the onion rings where nice and crunchy. It’s a great place to go if you are looking for something more Americana and not so fast food joint. Expect to Pay 10-12 bucks per person and leave a tip, don’t be cheap now.
Who wrote all the 5 star reviews????It was dirty, food is NOT good. People depend on reviews before carefully selecting good restaurant when out of town. It is not right, it is hard to believe the rave reviews.
Everyone is so helpful and nice, i have been going there for atleast 10 yrs now, and its a wonderful experience everytime i go to eat there, excellent food and service👍👍👍
Dont let the outside fool you, when you walk in the atmosphere hits you! Its super cute diner style. The food was delicious. The service was just ok, maybe the server was having an off day, she did her job but never smiled.

I am not a local: Im from Lafayette, and my boyfriend suggested Dots since I grew tired of the food from the City Diner.I ordered the Dots Burger with hash browns and it was DELICIOUS! The waitresses that served on us were very nice. My boyfriend likes coffee, and usually at other eateries you would have to remind the staff for refills of coffee...but the waitress was very attentive to that as she passed around serving up other orders.Along with the burger ordered, I had the hash browns. It is nice to see substitutions on the menu for those of us that are not into French 🍟. I had no idea that the hash browns could be prepared with onions; that was a tasty change of pace.We ordered dessert: 🍨 the apple pie a la mode was VERY YUMMY!With the homely atmosphere, the retro dining decor, and the great cooking...I will be back. City Diner will not be receiving too much of my business in the future. Lol
Dots its one of my favorite dinners, under staffed at the moment, not their fault so give them some time to get stuff together, but then again, still faster than most dinners and the food is great.

The food was amazing, the biscuits are made from scratch, the interior design is beautiful and very vintage looking, and the orange juice tastes fresh with no additives. the service was fairly quick as well. i’d give this place a solid 10/10. :)

Always satisfied with service & if I ever have problems with food, they fix it for me with no hassle. The restaurant is always clean.. Its a great environment & Im never disappointed. I recommend Dots all the time & will continue to do so.

No service. Ignored. Left after 10 mins.Thank you for your response to my review (above). However, when we arrived the waitress told us when we arrived, to sit anywhere, so the waitress was aware of our presence. There were 3 other patrons in the restaurant at the time (it wasnt busy) and we sat at a table in full view for 10 mins. before up and leaving.
Dots Diner was a last minute choice in New Orleans when we needed to get away from the crowd. Delicious food and friendly staff. Great choice on our part.

I was so excited to try this place after seeing all the good reviews. It pains me to have to write this but this has to be some of the most disappointing food I’ve ever seen and tasted in my life. I don’t know if the chef was having a bad morning or drunk at 11am on a Sunday but Jesus man, I have nothing good to say. Toast was incredibly soggy, omelette was runny, cheese tasted off, grits had zero flavor, mozzarella sticks were cold, mashed, and stuck to the container, carrots overcooked, and the steak looked like a breaded sausage patty. I don’t know what went wrong here but please do better. I tried for so long to find something positive to say about this food but I’m at a complete loss.

The diner has a homie feel. Very pleasant place to eat and get information. The waitress was very nice left before she got her tip.lol Rosemary makes the diner feel like home way from home. All and all a very nice atmosphere.
Very poor attitude by the managerial staff, the service is not good and the food is not served hot. They refuse discounts to the men and women that have served our country, simply because they do not wear them uniforms when they are home and enjoy family time.

The food is cheap for how much you get, and you don’t have to wear masks. The waiters and/or waitresses are extremely polite. My favorite part is the liquid butter that you can put on almost anything. Though sometimes it could be messy.
Hits the spot for those greasy spoon cravings. Breakfast for lunch? No problem. Bottomless cups of diner coffee enough to give you the shakes. They should really have a smoking section. I dont personally smoke but it would complete the feelings of nostalgia and take me right back to the diners of my youth.Hash browns were done right. Eggs and toast all just as expected. Buttery, greasy. Toast was somehow simultaneously soggy and crisp. Wonderful horrible.

Stopped by this place prior to Leaving New Orleans, best little spot in town. The staff and the employees was on point. I would recommend to anyone. I have never had breakfast that filled you up like this place did. Was Our first time in New Orleans, I was on a mission for Bananas foster, Brennan’s was closed so had the next best thing was the Bananas Foster Nawlins, it was phenomenal better than expected. My family of 4 was impressed by the Nawlins delight. Hope to stop by again . Thank you for the hospitality and the nostalgia of back in the day feel.

WARNING: Possible food poisonings if you eat here. Save yourself a $500 ER visit and go to IHOP, Russels Marina Grill, Waffle House, Daisy Dukes or any other local breakfast joint.If youre at Ochsner nearby receiving treatment, steer clear if youre especially vulnerable. Me and my husband came here for breakfast after he had treatment over at Ochsner, and 8 hours later we both became violently ill after eating at this establishment.My husband has a central line in his neck, and from the force of his vomiting we had to rush to the ER because he was starting to bleed out.I was also vomiting among other things from 3pm-noon the next day, and was blacking out periodically.We traced back our day, and the only food we ate at the same place was this location of dots diner. Not sure whats going on, if there was cross contamination and lack of hand washing, but I do not recommend this place.This happened on Monday, May 31st 2021 around 10:30am for whatever management sees this.
Was the worst experience ever. Went in around 11. Me and my family. Service was very attentive. Drinks and orders came out fast. We waited in our food ever 2 hours. I actually times it. Went to front and spoke with a older lady. Im assuming the manager. Very rude lady. Told us we just needed to set down and have patients said they where new cooks in and they where working on it. Servers ccontto come around and offer refills and apolize for the inconvenience. Went to the counter again and the same lady said I done told yall it was coming to sit down. I told her to cancel the order that I would never bring my family to a place where the manager was so rudafain she offered no concern that by then we where there for almost 3 hours. Very poor manager here

Our table of four had an amazing late night experience. Obviously a loved place as the server never got a moment to slow down, but she knew almost everyone who walked it :) at Midnight it was busy while still comfortable with space. All of us were exceptionally pleased with our order & WOW portions!Great Authentic Diner Feel!! Amazing American Food. Reasonable prices! Highly Recommended.
Went in around lunch today with a bunch of friends. The place was packed but it didnt take long to be seated. Servers where very friendly and outgoing. Took really good care of us. We waited 2 hours for our foodand when I say it was aweful it was aweful. It was cold nothing I ordered was right. Didnt get half the things I paid for couldnt eat any of it. I went to pay my bill and there was a older lady at the counter. The server had told us she was the Manager. I explained about not getting half the items I ordered ended up paying for stuff I didnt get when I asked could i at least get the food I didnt get but paid for she told us there was nothing she could do she wasnt there to give things away, I explained to her I wasnt asking for free things the items Im asked for I paid for. She was very rude to us and basically told us we should be happy with what we got. I told her that was fine she must need the money more than me. I told her Id pray for her and her sorry attitude. Really need to get someone who knows how to run the place. They lost alot of money. We where planning on coming there alot. Just moved to town but want waste my money there again
I stopped in yesterday for the first time during lunch & had the best experience! The food was fantastic & our waitress Veronica was even better! She was very friendly & honestly a lot of fun! She’s definitely a keeper & we will definitely be back! The best time I’ve for lunch! Thank you Dots & thank you Veronica!

The place looked clean. We were waited on right away. We didnt have to wait long for our food which came out hot. We received refills on our drinks for free. Social sitting was available and was wearing face mask needed. Staff was friendly. Bathroom was clean and stocked. Saw the staff spraying and wiping down tables after other guess had left before us. Everyone said Welcome to Dots when we walked in and Thank You and come back after we paid our bill. Im sure we will be back again. I only gave 4 stars because there is always room for improvement.

Nice! A real, out on the roadside diner - in town! Reminds me of places on the highway out in Texas. Why? Chicken Fried Steak! Last time I was here I got this great little CFS biscuit sandwich deal for breakfast: 2 CFS biscuits with gravy for $5.99. They were too hot to hold so you know they just got made fresh.. Also some great New Orleans variations that you wont see in any other diner, like crawfish specials!
The waitresses are very nice and attentive to their customers. Also I had a club sandwich and French fries it was very filling. If you never been there before go and see for yourself.

My first time eating at Dots in New Orleans. Have eaten at a great Houston location for almost 30 years so my expectations were very high! I was not disappointed! My scrambled eggs were soft and fluffy. My beignet sticks were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive! I will be back soon!

Ordered a grilled cheese to go looks like they microwaved a piece of orange plastic on bread I literally have no words for how hard it is or God awful. I just ... Dont even know how this is considered edible? Especially since grilled cheese is on the menu.
They were training a new waitress, but she was not given the support needed. She was actually taken off our table.
