This place is amazing in terms of its selection of French, Indian, Asian, and Italian imports.But buyers beware, the prices are extremely high. You could easily pay $50 for 3-5 items, as its happened to me twice now.The only thing keeping me coming back is the FRESHEST SEAFOOD in the Newport vicinity and a parking lot.If parking wasnt so difficult to find around Grove St, id get my seafood there instead, and not risk being tempted to do the rest of my shopping there at 2-3x the prices of ShopRite at metro plaza.

Cant complain about food selection, and their prices seem to have gone down a little, but boy - make sure you always check the price tag (if theres one). Some items can be way too expensive. Id shop there more often were there no such surprises. The store needs an update, it feels so dark, wet and cold.

My all time favorite store. When I need to get a few things without the massive amounts of people around…this is my go to. Whoever stocks the shelves is god tier level organized. Amazing.

Excellent medium scale supermarket who caters to the need of their customers. They are aware of their demographics and have stock to cater to them. Good selection of everyday item for Indians and Asians too. And the best part is those items are not overpriced. Some of them are actually few cents less then actual indian stores.Very clean setup. Conveniently located.If owner or manager is reading this then I request you to have slightly more variety of Haldiram snacks in both dry and frozen aisles as those are very popular among Sub continental Diaspora.Great overall store.

This is a great local supermarket. The produce is the best in the area and thats what most people buy there. The have a small hot and cold salad bar on weekday afternoons and a large variety of ethnic foods (both European and Asian). Also a good selection of organic and local brands from NY. Unfortunately their prices noticeably higher than other stores in the area so they have a very small amount customers compared to a store like Shoprite.

They closed the womens bathroom. I had to use the mens bathroom instead. Really disappointing.They have a good variety of foods, but after eating how can u go.

Produce is always fresh. All items with a longer shelf like are neatly arranged and labelled. The prices are a bit on the higher end, but weekly manager specials on other items make up for them.

John is an awesome manager and the staff is friendly. Coffee is fresh and their cakes and muffins are delicious!

If you carefully pick your items you can avoid taking rotten or expired items home... If you are a distracted or disengaged shopper ... Then youll likely be making another trip to return and exchange something.

Their seafood used to be fresh earlier but not any more. I’m so disappointed. Over the last few months, I noticed that the fishes aren’t fresh like they used to be. Once I bought pomfret and it was almost as stale. Bought red snapper which didn’t even taste fresh but had the same day “packed date”. Tuna was a disappointment. We buy from here as, it’s close by and once used to have fresh fishes. After today I’m not sure if i’ll Ever buy fish from here.

It pains me every time I need something at night and end up having to go here for it. Its more expensive than Acme, Shopright and Target, which are all within a 15 minute walk, and feels like they take advantage of Newport residents. I understand the rates must be high, but to buy stuff themselves from other supermarkets and then resell it says it all. To be fair, they have a fun selection of world foods, and its always very neat and tidy in there.Previous reviewers who say the staff are friendly probably dont go there a lot and have been lucky enough to speak to the friendlier ones, who fortunately do exist. But if you go in the evening, youll be lucky to get a hello at the till, and they are sometimes eating crisps or other junk food while waiting for a customer, sticking their fingers in their mouths before handling your food. What is the manager doing? Is there even one there to check staff are acting like they are employed? Or has the general sense of misery from the night staff made the manager too despondent to even leave their office? Sort it out Morton Williams. You are shamelessly ripping off your community.

I had a bad experience with the manager of this store who is an older lady with a black hair. My cashier left after l waited for more than 10 mins. The store manager told me to go back to the end of another line or talk to EVERYONE who is in the line (7-8 ppl). How unreasonable is that? The hygiene maintained especially during this difficult period of covid is worth mentioning and besides one is assured that every product is fresh and worth it no compromise in hygiene

Definitely very pricey (compared to Shoprite, BJs), but the collection is very good for Indian and Asian groceries. Love their cakes, but the person handling the bakery section was probably going through a bad day and was very rude - unlike other staff members who are polite.

You really have to review each and every item you buy here. Ive never seen a supermarket selling so much expired food, from carrots to yogurts to packaged items. If it was once, Id let it slide, but Ive seen it so often that youd think they are doing it on purpose. The only thing this place has going for it is convenience and is probably what keeps it in business.

I was charged for an item that I did not buy. It was almost $15 more. When I complained (via email after checking multiple times and finally figuring out that I never had such an item in my basket to begin with), they said to go back to the store and get the refund from the manager. Besides the inconvenience of going back, I was met with a manager who was extremely rude and offered no apology whatsoever. Instead he started arguing with me. I couldnt believe it! I had probably been cheated by the employee who billed my items and instead of apologising this man was fighting with me and seemed unashamed. It was an extremely unprofessional and unsavoury experience. Be very careful if you need to shop from here.

Morton Williams is a nice grocery store. Convenient to walk to and has good produce. Collection is good. They have foreign produce - especially East Asian and South Asian considering Newport is predominantly Asian.However its super expensive. Nothing can warrant their exorbitant prices. Also I am not a big fan or their bakery section.

So, something you should know about me is that when I was a kid I wanted to travel the world. See every country there is to see. Now due to some legal issues I still cant talk about for the next 3 to 5 years I cant do that. But when I walk through the spacious yet full aisles of Morton Williams Supermarket I feel like a kid again, I am traveling the world, from the jaffa cakes of England, to the curries of India. Tasting the good good ramen broths of Japan and then surveying the leaning tower pastas of Italy. Its a joy like no other, and brings warmth to my bitter bitter heart. The salami isnt that good though, four stars!

Make sure you check the expiration dates. After living in Newport for 2 years and shopping here out of convenience, I cant tell you how many times I had to throw out rotten meat and produce. Packaged foods are sometimes expired too- but really check the meat. Pull from the back. If you go early in the morning while they are restocking, the staff is so incredibly friendly and will help find you the freshest produce from their new inventory, that was always a nice experience.

This location has very good imported Korean and Indian foods. The fresh groceries section is always stocked and really organized with everything looking really fresh. The dairy section has egg whites and many organic yogurt and milk options. Probably the best Morton Williams I have been to and somewhat makes up for JC not having a whole foods. A little pricey but expected due to the food quality.

Just use this for emergency or last minute shopping. The lights make the produce look fresher than they actually are. It is pricey too. Staff are polite and cutomer centric. Wish they could clean and maintain the shopping carts better. But the store is well stocked and has Asian groceries too. Also has an ATM.

This store has a good selection and variety of some harder to find items. However, the prices on the shelves rarely match the prices at the register (especially for items on sale). This happens so frequently that it’s hard to believe it’s accidental.

If you live in Newport this would be your go to spot for groceries because of close proximity. I guess that’s where they take advantage of it by having products with increased price.

Good sandwiches made to order, but not fast

Overpriced. A box of Cheerios cost $7 and a gallon of milk costs $10. I shouldn’t have to pay $17 to eat milk and Cheerios. Convenient for Newport residents. I only go when I’m desperate for a few items and the weather is bad. Its too bad because they have a nice location with a good selection. However, I try to avoid the store as other nearby grocery stores are priced much better.

I don’t know where to start one of the most expensive store and I’ve seen many expire products on the shelves. Most important is manager needs to change his attitude to shoppers.

Excellent grocery store.. they have almost every thing.Fresh Vegetables, bakery, fresh fish( huge varieties), fresh produce.Kids really love the elephant water garden in-front of it.I like the coffee in there.

Local neighborhood supermarket. On the plus side they have a lot of international food (European, Asian and Indian food)On the downside there seemed to be a markup on everything from fruits and vegetables to dairy to condiments.If you can afford the markup, it seems a pretty convenient place to do your weekly grocery shopping.

If you have to shop at Morton Williams in Newport understand that you are going to pay a lot more for everyday items. Also check expiry dates on EvERYThinG......on every occasion I go there I find products on the shelves and in the meat department that have expired or are about to, including fresh breads on the shelf right inside the doors. It seems they bring in products from Shoprite as I have seen Shoprite stickers on many items.On the flip side, the Indian spice section are priced right and they offer a good selection of European products.

Many a times the chicken smells bad even if there is few more days for expiry. In my case I had 5 more days. I am experiencing this for the 3rd time. But veggies are Soo fresh to grab.

I was impressed because this is one of the few places Ive been to where the bakery goods are good. I dont like the feel of the store though, its kinda rustic, making you feel like the store is low end. Prices are high, but not as high as Manhattan.

Each trip when compared to shoprite costs on average at least 5-10 bucks more.Most items in Morton are 50c to a dollar costlier often more. Very good selection of Indian South Asian items but again very costly compared to Newark Ave in Journal Square. MIn advantage location location location and they are open till 1am 365 days!!!

Although Morton Williams is primarily a super market, I go here for their lunch buffet. They have many food options with a hot buffet everyday at lunch time. You pay by the weight. Its not the cheapest but its surely worth the money. Food is good. Try them out!

However, for the price they charge, you have much better alternatives if you walk a bit further north to a different supermarket.
