Called to see about an oil change, didnt realize they charge over $110. Earlier review says that they dont just change oil, they do a walk around and inspect the vehicle. Thats not what an oil change is, just saying. Also I found it very very unprofessional to reply to every single review ranting and raving about how its not his fault. Will not be using them for an oil change or anything else pertaining to my car.
Edit: I got my tie rods replaced and front end realigned with D B auto. Was supposed to be done next week but it didnt take them long and the parts were in town. To top it off: having to wait that extra day got me a parking ticket because, surprise, a car with one wheen disconnected from the steering shouldnt be driven on the road.And yeah, Im from the South. Youre a yuppie. Well paid, concerned more about looking good than doing well. You could have explained yourselves on Tuesday, instead you gave a vague dont want to answer. I may have been more understanding. I know my car is ugly as sun, but yall decided to schedule me nearly a week out. You wasted my time, you wanted the drivers time, and you could have taken a minute to-I dunno- talk it over like a regular person.Lastly: thanks to your very upstanding and professional decision to just refuse to take in my car, I had to get it towed the next day which got me a parking ticket. So, thanks for that one as well. Next time just say no instead of scheduling in the first place, huh? Dont waste peoples time.On Friday 7/16 I call and schedule an appointment for the following Wednesday to replace the outer tie rod on my 04 Chevy. No problems there, told I can tow it in on Tuesday.Well, Tuesday rolls around, the tow truck guy was apparently told to call Rusty before bringing it in and face time.The owner of Affordable auto decided not to take my car in. No reason given. Just a waste of my time, waste of the tow drivers time. I couldve scheduled with someone else instead of waiting five days for nothing. Was the first and only time I will even try working with that yuppie.
They are a great locally owned & operated. They REALLY care about thier customers satisfaction. They have been in business for many years & can be trusted

Updated.Thank you for clarifying on the brakes. Also, needed the O2 sensor replaced and Affordable auto ordered the part and replaced it quickly without any issues.Old postTold me I needed 1000 dollars in brake work, new calipers and rotors and pads, and when looked at by another mechanic I only needed pads.
These people are amazing! I arrived in Juneau on a ferry and am leaving on another ferry in several hours. After that I have to drive through Canada. I didnt have an appointment, but when I explained my situation, they looked at my vehicle and were able to fix it. They were all so friendly! I am relieved and so thankful!
Their prices are a little higher than others for some basic stuff. For example, $100+ for an oil change. However, if you have a Ford, this is the best place to go. Their service as far as calling back or updating you, and having options for ordering parts, is probably the best in town. They know their business and do it well, so youre paying for it. You can save a few bucks for lesser service elsewhere.

Last used these guys a year ago, just before I moved back to the lower 48. Awesome customer service, totally felt like family. Super caring, reliable and willing to work with you. Treat them with respect and decency and they’ll return the favor, above and beyond. Miss these guys and their help.
Not bad rates and friendly customer service. But they said our vehicle will be ready by the time lunch was over and now the shop is closed and we still havent heard from them. Simple brake job.
Affordable is pretty much my new best friend in Juneau. I had bought a car that was not in very good condition. They did what they could for me when it broke down and have YET to charge me. They also did not charge me when I sent them another lemon to look over before I bought it. Most recently, I bought their sons car for about half what its worth. This is my go-to mechanic and I would recommend them to anybody.

Called in to schedule an appointment and they tried to diagnose it over the phone. Told me it was a serious issue and that Id have to replace the engine. Not the case. I scheduled an appointment and dropped it off. They took longer than they quoted me and I had to call them to find out it was done. They couldnt find the issue. That scenario repeated multiple times taking over a month to never get an actual diagnosis. They narrowed it down to the air and fuel systems.. Told me I would just have to start replacing things. Well, after replacing the entire fuel system and multiple intake components.. its finally running. Well over $500 later. The service always took longer than it was supposed to, they couldnt diagnose an issue, they never called me when it was done. I DO NOT recommend this place. Extremely disappointed and frustrated with their service
First time I came here with engine issues they tore apart my engine and could not find the issue and refused to diagnose further and charged me over 400 dollars with my engine still disassembled.Second time when I tried to schedule work on a transmission they simply said theyre not transmission experts and to go to another service center.I have only had 2 experiences with this shop and neither have been good.
Never trust a shop with a name like “affordable” means the exact opposite here
I called and scheduled for my car to be towed to there shop the day before the work was to be done. I called ahead to make sure it was ok to have it towed before it called the towing company, the tow truck driver verified it as well before he towed it. My car was returned to me 15min later. The owners employee had not told him about and it and there for refused to even do the work because of his employees incopatince. The owner was very rude and refused to have the cost of the tow refunded to me due to there mistake. I would never use a shop who refuses to be responsible for their employees mistakes and forcing the customer to be responsible for there mistake.
Every time I brought my 2008 F250 Ford diesel truck for repairs or regular service, the service was great and I found the prices were very reasonable. I like that I am treated like a valued customer as well.
Idk. They said that because I had so many miles on my vehicle that they didnt want to do much to it because the problem could be anything or something like that. It was a serious problem that needed fixing. I almost have to on it until I tried another shop and they fixed it. A tad expensive but Im happy with it now.Idk. They seemed to be rushed and didnt really want to help out.
LIVID!!! BEWARE!! MUST READ!!!I would give negative stars if I could!PLEASE READ!I recently left a bad review about the service I recieved here. The next day I got a call from Jack the owner. Using my last name from this review and matching it to the info I gave to make my appointment. He started explaining to me that he makes $500 an hour and the his time is more valuable than mine. Jack told me he is firing the nice guy Thomas that took my car in and that this was his last chance at a job. Not sure what he meant there. Tried to make change for bus after drop off and Thomas was nice enough to give me a dollar for free because the til nad no change maybe?He then used a 1 profane word while speaking to me not towards me and more explaining on how he doesnt take junk cars like my own or any other 2000 and under(mine 1999). My suppose 45 minutes to look at my car also somehow set him back so far that he had to come in on this Saturday to make up for it. Some 20 cars or something like that. He also had something to say about my intelligence. After all this he then started threatening me legal matters and Deframtion of Character and that he would 0 me to court! After that our conversation got a little heated because at this point I was very frustrated of the way he was treating me and speaking to me. I HOPE THE SNOW REMOVAL COMPANY THAT HE TOLD ME ABOUT READS THIS AND NOTES WHAT KIND IF GUY JACK IS! Our phone call lasted 6 minutes in which case towards the end he started to realize his mistake on calling me the customer to harass them about there review that he told me his company is native owned and that you be hurting it. I am native and he only knew that because the 30 secs we met when he jumped my car for me after diagnosising my brand new battery bad. In which I can feel the discomfort coming from him because he didnt charge me. So if you go to them DO NOT GIVE YOUR LAST NAME TO THEM or it could be used to contact you later if you leave a review. I will now take my last name off Google review in FEAR of another such disturbing phone call for being honest.Ps the review wasnt that bad either and Ive left numerous positive reviews to other places.
Thought I had a serious problem with a wheel or axle. They were quick to discover the problem. found it was only a rock between the brake pad and rotor. They fixed this and didnt charge anything.
