Went late nite, a big man was the only cashier. He started talking with a patron as sale was being completed. Continued talking for almost 2 minutes as I stood in front of him and waited. When he finally was going to ring me up he had a smirk on his face which made me walk away. He never said anything as I left the store. Probably not the first time this happened, didnt seem to bother him the least.

Its a typical Safeway -- fine, but not great. Pretty good selection, convenient to Enchanted Lake, decent parking. Could use a bigger bakery and deli. Not much else on interest in the shopping plaza.

They didnt have everything I was looking for. Sushi is a big thing here and I was looking for the ingredients. They had only a few of the items I needed to make it. Disappointing.

5 dollar Fridays is a great day to shop there for flowers. They have good deals. Especially when you have to visit 5 graves in one day. Theres more than flowers. They have a wonderful grocery selection as well for $5. Some times its fried chicken or sub sandwiches. You can get 12 donuts for your home or office.No matter what theres always something for everyone.

The shopping experience was good. If you need a bag you have to request and pay for a paper bag otherwise youll have to carry out what was purchased. There arent anymore plastic bags in Hawaii, based off the signs notated in the stores and restaurants. Take out is in a box.

Its a nice store with a lot of good stuff & fresh to buy for your cooking needs. The customer service has gotten a lot better, helpful staff. Keep up the good work, Safeway!

Amazing discount on pork. 38 bucks worth of pork for less than ten bucks. Last time I got 5 dozen eggs for the price of 1 dozen. Keep your eyes peeled. Safeway has some amazing promotions.

My experience today was amazing, I was able to pick up all my medications plus I was able to call and add one more medication and it was ready for me when I got there. I asked a question in pharmacy and was directed to go to customer service and when I asked my question in customer service the representative who helped me was amazing. She helped me with what I wanted and before buying my product she let me know that it was quite expensive and made sure if I was OK with that and I was happy she made sure I wasnt going to blind side with the amount. I said it was OK because I was getting it for my mom. I enjoy going to Safeway on hamakua everyone is so friendly and always smiling. Thank You! Safeway

This review is about the Bakery only!!!!!!So....I Ordered a cake 🍰 for my daughters birthday...the ordering was GREAT the young girl was very nice and helpful....Fast forward the big day November 21 went to pick up the cake around 530pm and there was a WHOLE DIFFERENT employee at the bakery and OMG she was so rude...First she ignored me even after I tried waving to get her attention....she made like I was not there....I had to go to customer service to ask for them to call bakery for help....I went back and she actually snatched my receipt out my hand rolled her eyes and handed me the cake....after all that GOOD NEWS: the cake came out cute(LET ME SAY IT AGAIN THE CAKE WAS SUPER CUTE).Im hoping the employee she was just having a bad day.....😲😒either that or its obvious shes stressed and overworked and needs help!

Super friendly staff. We accidentally dropped a jar of gravy immediately after paying for our groceries in the self check out. One staff immediately went to get us a new one and simultaneously two others were already cleaning up our mess before we could even apologize.

I needed a cake for my wifes birthday and had a rough idea of what I thought shed like. Worked with Brooklyn and she helped make it happen: Mermaid-theme cake with seashells, too! She and the bakery section nailed it! Thank you so much and Ill be back again and will pass on the word of the great work you guys do. Solid customer service and a quality product are rare finds these days.

Safeway is great! I could understand if you are trying to come here on a budget and do a small vacation, groceries can be a simple matter. The trouble might be getting a printout of the barcode from an e-gift card. These are often simple matters, but they can cut half a day out of your vacation if you have to make a second stop.

This location is always clean and staff is friendly and considerate, but YOU MUST CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATES ON EVERYTHING! There isnt one dept in the whole store that rotates inventory on a timely basis. One observation of this appears to be because they dont follow the first in, last out rule of rotation.Its one thing to come in and the sell/use by date was a day or two ago, but a whole other thing to see something thats 2 weeks or more that has expired, especially in the dairy and meat depts.

It was easy to find parking and I could get all I needed. The check out was fast with a very courteous cashier who was very pleasant and helpful! There was no line and i was done in 20 min

They send door dashers away because they have there own drivers sometimes. Please take your doordash option off because you are wasting everyones time.

Safeway is my go-to market for most things. They have more unique items over the local Hawaii stores. However, shelves are not refilled often enough during sales. I have been trying for weeks to get the Safeway brand tonic water in 12 oz cans and the shelf is always empty.

I always feel welcome here like Im part of the family. The layout has recently changed, and Im seeing the benefit slowly but surely. Shout-out to the cashiers who never fail to ask me how my daughter, husband, grandpa, and mom are. Yes, they are that specific! Four instead of 5 stars only because its hard to get help at the seafood counter sometimes.

I went to the pharmacy and the pharmacist at Safeway really hooked me up! All my five prescriptions were like between 10 and $20 each not bad at all

This Safeway has the MOST amazing poke! I was told by a local to go here and they did not disappoint! When you walk in, go straight back and youll find the fish counter. The lady working the counter wasnt the most friendly but I was also indecisive so I dont blame her.

Customer Service was horrible. I was trying to buy a few bottles of their finer wines and the main guy at register 1 would go get the key after I’d been waiting 10 mins to finish with the customer he had been helping checkout.

Great Safeway with plenty of parking. We usually go to the Kapahulu location but when in Kailua, this supermarket has everything youd expect.

This is happened at Self check Kiosk, many time that i asked the lady who stand there for advice incase if needed. she walked over with grumpy face, i never seen her look happy ever ones, i say “Hi” she didn’t say anything push button and then left, Always look grumpy and mean. That give me the reason why i wrote this and hope thing change in better way.

Even with the covid crisis they still manage to keep the shelves stocked

I like Safeway stores. This one is smaller than Kaneohe and doesnt really have everything I like to find when I shop there. However this one has 4 self check-out lanes with machines that take cash! Very convenient. Kaneohe Safeway does not have this feature.

Last week I spoke to Jamie in the bakery department. I inquired about the non frosted baked sugar Christmas cookies. I told her that I needed about 4 or 5 dozen to purchase this morning. She told me to come see her that they have plenty, that she would give me the fresh oned also frosting which is better than the can frosting. Well I show up this morning to find that there is none and that whatever they have at the front of the store is all that is left. Very disappointed, I was miss informed. My grandchildren will not frost and decorate cookies this year. Thank you Jamie, get your information correct so so you dont mess someone elses Christmas.

I dont understand Safeways tactic....normally w/other stores if a cash register line exceeds more than 3 individu andal...than another line is to be opened up immediately! But nope, not tonite at Safeway in Kailua, Hamakua....the line for the Express lane was ridiculously long! Thee only reason I rated it a 2 is because once I finally got to the front...my cashier was super pleasant and funny which was very much needed, since I was wanted to really give the cashier a piece of my mind.

Better watch out self checkout because some prices different from you think is sale for foods !!

My main go to Safeway. Shelves are nicely stocked, produce looks fresh, meat department has a good selection. I try to avoid the deli, though. Went on a $5 Friday for fried chicken one time and was told thered be a 2 hour wait and that Friday is a bad day to order fried chicken. Umm, its the best day to get it because its on sale! The 2nd Assistant Manager, Dane, is cool. Very welcoming.
