I bought my first guitar from Roger in 1977 (was actually my Christmas present). He had to repair the bridge when it was about 7-8 years old. Had to take it in again for the same issue.... 32 years later. Wonderful work that lasted four times the original factory work. Wonderful old shop of a true craftsman.
He does great work and is very knowledgeable. This is the only place I will go.
Good work takes time. The last time I saw Roger I had purchased a new Washburn guitar, and I needed a nut put on it. He did it right then and there, and did not charge me anything. He has repaired, and refurbished a couple of instruments for me and he does quality work. We are pleased.
Quick service. Superb quality workmanship on repairs. Reasonable charges.
At first the atmosphere appears cluttered and disheveled, then upon a closer look, like a gigantic treasure chest dripping with musical instrument gems and other related jewels and tools. Like a mix of the Wizard of Oz and Santa, the owner, complete with magnification goggles, was knowledgeable, confident, connected, and seemingly perpetually tinkering. Quoted fair, considering his expertise and likely skill. Additionally, we were quite pleased to meet Sachmo, his sweet and loveable shop kitten.
I took a Martin d-18 in on April 4th to have some work done roger said it would be a month for me to pick it up I didnt want to wait that long but I said I wanted it done right so I left it I called a month later he said he was backed up that he was working on it to give him another week so I waited 2 more weeks figured he would call me. I called he never answered I left message for him that I was checking on the status of my guitar to call me he never did .i called several times and left messages no answer or call back so on june 25 I showed up at the shop at 530 he was there .he tried to ignore me like I was going to go away I said I wanted my guitar he gave it to me he never even took it out of the case to start working on it . he couldve called me and told me he was to busy to work on my guitar .im glad I got it back he might do good work I dont know but poor customer service 3months wasted
This is a shame I must write this because when I first drove by this place I thought wow! What a quaint little music store! And if they would have done ANYTHING right I would be going there all the time. To start the owner is excruciatingly rude. Called twice and was handled with complete disregard for proper customer care. They even hung up on me ! The hours are not consistent and even so I was able to find it open one day and decided to stop and visit. When I walked in though my presence was never even acknowledged, even though the store is tiny. They may do good work but good luck dealing with this guy. Just go to Woodsys. Its right down the road and the staff is much more friendly and does very professional work as well
Stopped in while on tour with a Broadway show, and was able to get a last minute repair. It was a huge help!
Restored a family heirloom a 1930s regal resonator with a broken neck Literally made it look like play and sound like a new neck even friends could not believe their eyes.
Good prices and a lot to choose from expensive to cheep
A master luthier.
