Horrocks is an unmitigated delight!Seemingly the product of someone interested by one food type after another, Horrocks is an enticing collecting of areas: Gelato, fresh flavors of kettle corn, deli foods, hot pizza, alcoholic beverages, traditional groceries, and a huge plant garden supply space.Oh, also some clothes and jewelery in the middle of it all.The COMPLIMENTARY drip coffee bar is a visual feast and the brews all tasty; monstrous worthwhile!Shopping AND fum? It can happen!
Excellent store to find all kinds of fruits and vegetables, flowers and plants. Spices, popcorns, huge deli, lots of soup, ice cream bar and all kinds of wine and alcohol. Potted plants and trees indoor and out. Wholesome foods of all kinds of breads, dairy, cheese, frozen area, lots of canned foods, bulk candy and nut area, clothing and jewelry, nicknacks, pet food and toys. Outdoor bird food, windchimes, outside decorations, greeting cards, gifts and so much more.
There are some specialty foods here that you dont find at your average grocery store. Always great fruit and vegetables. They have really stepped up their game with their addition of pizza and salad bar, they have a beer and wine area where you can buy a glass and enjoy it. Beautiful flowers.
I had five items to pay for at checkout. I paid and went home. When I got home and looked at the receipt I saw that I had been charged for 3 1/2 gal cartons of milk when I only purchased two. I called the store. They said come on in to customer service. When I got there the lady said I would have to get in the long checkout line as she was doing double duty: service desk and checkout lane 6. When it was finally my turn I expressed my unhappiness and asked to speak with the store manager. She waved over a store employee working near by who said she was the store manager. (I doubt it) I asked her how is it that a checker only has 5 items to check out with no customers behind me but still cant get it right and double scans a milk charging me for 3 when I only had two. I was the checkers last customer as she was going on break. So now I have to check my receipt while I am in line with people lined up behind me as this is a very busy store. And why should I have to get in a long checkout line for a customer service issue that was their fault? I have better things to do with my time. The manager had a deer in the headlights look on her face that made me feel like she was not understanding what I was telling her. And the customer service person stated that we are short handed. I was not looking for an excuse. They need to man the customer service desk and not have someone doing double duty. They need to have checkout clerks that have basic cognitive function. This store is poorly laid out (crowded isles) and poorly managed.
Have been here just only twice in 3 years. If you are looking for a very unique shopping experience at a grocery store compared to Walmart, Target etc then this is the place for you.Everything is so unique about this place, from the way it looks to the kind of products it carries. They have a good selection of books, has its own candy department, A really nice deli where all kinds of foods are prepared. A soup station which we really liked. Has all kinds of unique snacks and consumables. It is pretty pricey when it comes to food items and other household products but then again it has a really different experience. So when visiting GR, its a good place to stop by to get some groceries and grab a quick bite.
Excellent produce, quality meats, so many cheeses and popcorn. Also fresh live plants. Love this place!
Its always a pleasant experience going to Horrocks. I love their selection of homemade soups in the bulk. I often buy some of their produce. Im surprised their meat business is still surviving. I hardly ever see anybody at the meat counter and their package meat has so much of it marked down that looks inedible. I miss the popcorn tasting. It looks like its really affected their sales in that area. But I understand why. They have to keep people safe. Cant have people reaching into a bowl to sample popcorn.
Came here with my wife to buy flowers, as we are walking in I see a sign that says “beer garden now open”. Obviously I instantly like the place.I go explore for a while. So much more than a flower store. Got some dog treats, checked out some neat decor. Then started hunting for the beer garden. After I am directed to it, I find their EXTENSIVE sour beer aisle. Spent 15 minutes throwing a sixer together. Then grabbed a glass and relaxed outside. All while my wife happily shopped for flowers.
Amazing! Fresh food, exceptional beer selection, wines, gifts, and other specialty food items. A wide variety of horticultural and gardening products too.
Horrocks is a Great place to shop, sit down and have hot soup, grilled sandwiches, fresh salads, pizza. You can also get a beer or wine and walk around while shopping. They have different kinds of popcorn made daily. Great produce, and fresh flowers at the floral. All kinds of plants and flowers to choose from. Great garden center . All your needs in one place.Come check them out!! You wont regret coming.
Horrocks is awesome! I love coming here for lunch. The pizza and soup bars are my go-to favorites. I also love their Tavern section. Its a bar bar. They added a beer garden sitting area in the back since my last visit which was cozy and decorated beautifully. The beer garden would look awesome at night with the hanging strings of lights they have over the area.
Love this store. They have everything and prices are great.Special mention to deli staff. Your salads are amazing and staff super nice.Good job people.
Nice store with lots of things for everyone. Garden stuff, food, deli, beer, wine, popcorn, fresh fruits and vegetables. My only complaint is that the store is so terribly broken up. Gates everywhere splitting departments, one way in one way out of most areas without going around departments. Its a merchandisers dream, with spaces and end caps and coolers everywhere. However, for the person who wants to run in quick for a lunch sandwich or the guy who wants some fresh beans and corn, its a nightmare. What should be 15 minutes on a off peak quick run turns into an hour of twisting, turning, which way is out!The products are great! The owner is a treasure for the community, just wish it was a better traffic design for the quick get it and go.
I love this place! They carry such a wonderful variety from beautiful plants and local food and other eclectic items. I love the bird supply section and wonderful books. Horrocks is a very happy place to visit.
Im visiting from Houston, Texas. This store is AWESOME! I would love to see one in Houston. Great wine and beer selection.
I cant tell yall how much I love this stone. I mean........its got a full service bar and a beer garden in it. You can literally snag a beer while youre doing your weekly shopping.Do I need to say anything else?
Ive loved going to Horrocks for years now. Originally I was going to the Lansing location, but the GR spot is very nice too. They have a big selection of high quality items, and their produce department is top notch. They have some harder to find products available too. The garden department also has a good variety of plants for sale, and several of my shrubs around my property were purchased there. Its a fantastic store.
Great market with some awesome soups and deli selections. Keep up the good work.
Beautiful flowers, delicious soup and gelato, large assortment of beer and wine, very friendly and knowledgeable staff, and many gluten free and organic options, all reasonably priced. Love this place!
Horrocks is one of my favorite places to shop. Great produce, amazing soup, and many other great, unique products.
I don’t think I could possibly love this store more! (Though I wish there was one closer than 2 hours and 20 minutes from my home). Coffee, wine, beer and gelato while shopping, the pizza, the sushi, the salads, the produce, the organic choices- it’s pure Heaven!
I love this place! Amazing beer selection, great plant section, and tons of world groceries and interesting niche products. Try the popcorn.
I‘ve visited your store many times over the years, but as of today I will no longer visit nor recommend your store.Today visit around 11:30ish….. My Hubby and I approach the checkout counter… the Cashier (named Stacy) told my Husband... “You must pull your mask up over the nose”. My Husband mask was on correctly. The Cashier continue to insisted that my Husband pull his mask up and stated He would not sever us then left the line. I asked the other Cashier who came to please ring up our order so we can leave. What turn in to a very heated conversation could have been avoided if the first Cashier just ring us up quickly and off we go.As we proceed to leave the store… The Manger on duty following us out the store and say “Don’t come back to the store again” and we won’t!You need to train your employees how to respect customers when they are spending their hard earn money. Do you pay your employees to be the MASK POLICE or cashiers or maybe both? I highly respect their job …but they putting their own personally rules towards customers.
It was awesome. So many different areas to shop. Weve forgotten what was in the store other than just buying plants. We bought a pizza, soup (yummy), hummus dip, spinach/artichoke dip, along with plants. Dont forget to check out the floral dept as well. The roses were gorgeous and Ive seen some of the arrangements which were absolutely awesome.
Great place with tons of unique stuff. Groceries, wines, soups, deli, books, plants... you name it. Can be expensive at times, depending on what youre looking for.
A very cool spot with a large selection of garden and vegetable plants. I was impressed with how many plants you can get that are very small. Most greenhouses dont offer plants until theyre more mature and this was a nice change.
If you need fresh cut flowers for any occasion. omg, this is the place to go. Beautiful!
One of my favorite places!!! You cannot beat their selection of fresh flowers. Their annual flowers are always healthy
This place is so enjoyable to visit my wife and I go there as a date. Some of my favorite things: soaking up sunshine on a sunny winter day amidst green things, good free coffee, trying out a bagel or some soup with good free coffee, looking at the funky cheeses, looking at the exotic fruits and vegetables, trying wine and beer samples and enjoying a glass while you shop, and watching the variety of people who shop there. Their nursery in summer has good selections too. This is truly a unique place for coffee, flowers, groceries, plants, pizza, deli, etc.
This market is always clean, staff all masked up and conscious of hand washing. Also they have convenient hand washing stations throughout the store.Great produce and people who can help you with how to use/cook new to you items. Butcher on site, yahoo! You HAVE to try their ready to eat soups, served up hot n fresh. Rare, unusual food item can be found in all food groups packaged and fresh. Its not just a store, its an experience with a surprise around every corner. Youll have to visit several times to discover them and youll always find more the next time.
The gyro from the deli and the gelato is amazing and I love the atmosphere. The beer garden out back is very nice and everyone eating lunch out there is just so happy! Great spot for lunch and shopping!
Made a quick stop, after work, to grab a quick healthy snack. Great decision!
I love this store, but the Quality of the deli salads and baked goods have completely gone downhill I will stop by for fresh meat and fresh vegetables that’s about it
Absolutely love the Nostalgia feel of walking thru the store. First time visiting. Wonderful store!
Wonderful products, just about anything and everything. In house food and drinks for midday meals before/after you shop make for a wonderful day out. Friendly helpful staff. And a wide array of beers, with a Michigan section, and comparable wine selection.
Love just about everything Horrocks has and continues to do in there store. Gardening and outdoor area, indoor plants and hosting supplies, to fresh flowers, groceries, gelato and cafe stand, fresh made market food available and even beer and wine tastings available. ♡ Such a fun atmosphere!
This place is great. Drink while you shop, eat donuts, try popcorn and cheese, get fresh sushi or pizza. I like this place because the prices are reasonable and it has a wide selection of flowers, gardening, knickknacks, produce, and items for foodies, coffee lovers, and beer connoisseurs alike. It’s worth the trip.
I absolutely love this store. The gardening and floral sections are amazing and the varieties of produce are fantastic. Employees are nice to me. The drive over is always worth it to pick up what I need and then some!
Very good customer care (Spoke with a cashier earlier this afternoon, named Hannah, that was super nice), and had a great single slice of pizza. Excellent experience shopping at this store!
We drove from Cedar Springs to Horrocks Market in Kentwood because they are the only place we know of that carries ClaeysHorehound hard candies. I was so disappointed because I only found one package. I usually buy 10-12 at a time.
The popcorn selection is usually better than Horrocks Farm Market in Lansing and the flavoring is much better. Plenty of parking and the employees are always super nice. I always have a great shopping experience here!
This store is a hoarders dream come true. There is way to much going on with no room to move. The flowers looked awful. The store itself is so hot from pizza and popcorn being made. Im not into sweating at the store Im shopping in. This used to be a nice place.
Kinda disappointing with this visit, produce looked pretty bad, and cut flower prices are very high!! Oh and the packaged meat looked very bad alot of the meat was brown!!🤮
Very nice market... Variety of specialty foods and groceries. Lively greenhouse!!!
Few places get 5 stars and this one gets it. Have to pace myself so I get you a clear picture. 1. New redesign. We have an actual food court with a wine/ beer station. They also have flavored popcorn that is wonderful( samples). Gelato bar, wonderful soups, breads, cheeses...while providing great service and great produce, and plants. Just an experience on its own. Something for everyone.
Busy, long check out lines, did not have 3/4 of what we went there for. We were putting in our herb garden for spring, but they didnt have any curly parsley or regular basil plants. Walmart, of all places, did have those. No real French Dijon mustard at Horrocks. Did get a bag of nice looking, big lemons though, which turned out to be very thick-skinned so we paid way too much for the amount of lemon juice we ended up getting out of them. I keep going here over and over hoping for better and always end up getting worse. Guess I should stop doing that, huh?
Love the fresh soups. Theres like 15 to 20 kinds. Very unique places. Love it.
My best place for local beer and beer garden. Now they built beer garden behind the store which is absolutely awesome. I like it. Thanks for beer garden.
Wonderful as always. They have a wide assortment of hard to find foods, and all of the basics. They also have an excellent alcohol selection, and a greenhouse area. Horrocks is an anchor of Kentwood, one everyone should be familiar with.
This place is amazing! I am blown away that Ive driven by here 100s of times not knowing this gem was in my backyard. I thought it was a greenhouse. Turns out its the best grocery store around. The selection is incredible. I will for sure be returning here.
I like it, good place to buy flowers and gardening
I love their houseplant selection!! Everything always look good. This staff is very friendly too
I love Horrocks! Unfortunately due to covid, the complimentary coffee station was closed, but we still got some fun shopping in! Pros: gorgeous selection of cheeses, wine, beer, and flowers. Cons: they’re a bit pricey. Buuuut, you get a selection you can’t get elsewhere. Employees are always friendly and the store is always clean. It’s a great market!
So many good things
This is one of my favorite stores. Lots of really unique and hard to find items. They also make many items fresh in house and is an fun experience to visit and browse. I really like the many vegan items they carry that I cant find anywhere else.
I grew up going to the Delta Twp. store and this one is as good, Got a slice of the Rhubarb pie and its YUMMY!! so meany over sweeten it but they got it just right!! You taste the Rhubarb and not sugar. :)
Most underrated market in GR. Excellent quality groceries, beer & wine selections. Has a deli, pizza, sushi, gelato, and a bar. One of few places in town where youll see people from Wyoming, Grand Rapids, Kentwood, Ada, and Grandville in one place.
Really enjoy shopping here, even without the gelato and popcorn stations. And the beer/wine selection. And the coffee bar. And the deli area. And the greenhouse...
Great place to shop, nice prices and very friendly service.😊
Great meat and produce. Im not a drinker, but I understand their craft beer selection is awesome. My friend always has to pick up beer for her son on the other side of the state.
OK, we love Horrocks. Like, we REALLY love Horrocks. We grocery shop here when we feel like Meijer wont have everything we want/need, and we love to find new things to try. Their dry goods section isnt huge, but it has enough unique products that theres always something new to check out. Lets be real, youre not gonna find stuff like flax milk or 32 kajillion flavors of kombucha and aloe at your generic supermarket. Their produce section is also pretty cool.Theres a lot of neat produce you probably havent heard of before if youre not a traveler or non-native, or at the very least, produce you havent had before. Giant sugarcane, hami-hami, cactus leaves, etc. Horrocks also sells certain produce in bulk as well, so if you want a five pound bag of Cashews or a bunch of candy... Go bonkers. They have a fresh deli counter with some great cuts, such as tomahawk steaks. They also have plenty of other fresh-made produce and pantry goods like coffee beans, peanut butter, cheese, pickles (my partners favorite!), bread, etc. Large meat and cheese section, nice selection of fresh ice cream and Gelato, a giant popcorn counter, sushi, and by God, heres the jewel of Horrocks. The diamond in the rough... The soup stand. We LOVE the soup stand. Yeah, its a little pricey. But by God, they have so many good soups and we always go a little crazy when were in the store. A trip to Horrocks isnt complete without getting at least two or three soups.Theres also a counter that has a bunch of fresh made dishes and pizza (which I want to try SO badly). Horrocks also has a large liquor section, so if you want to find a nice wine for a Charcuterie board, youre in luck. There is also a Biergarten as well, so if you just wanna chill there, thats an option too. The front of the store is almost entirely a green house and always has a ton of houseplants and garden plants, along with decor. Theres also a small jewelry and clothing section as well.Need balloons filled? Go to Horrocks. Need flowers for your babe? Go to Horrocks. Want to drown in a delicious sea of soup? Go to Horrocks. Want to have a fulfilling life? Go to Horrocks. Just go, man. Its so worth it.PS: While youre in the area, stop by next door to Asian Delight. We always go to both places since they have such friendly staff and great products.
Great! Fun food and great hot sandwich
I love this place. Nice complimentary coffee in all kinds of flavors with all kinds of fixings including non-dairy creamer. They make a point to keep it clean and organized. Its small things like this (but probably a bigger effort on their part) that make me want to come back. Great selection of plants including String of Pearls succulents with perfectly round beads. Ive seen them elsewhere such as Lowes, but in the elongated teardrop shape instead. They have plenty of Fiddle Leaf Figs and Im hoping to luck out soon with a Monstera Deliciosa.Basically, they stock some trendy plants including very healthy looking Pileas at very reasonable prices (relative to what others are selling them for online and elsewhere). Their Pileas are from the same nursery as the one Meijer is currently sourcing from, but the ones at Horrocks are a lot healthier and more robust looking. If you see something you want, dont hesitate to buy or someone else will. Ive passed on some plants before only to see them gone a day or two later.Lovely selection of pots too including *gasp* modernist minimalist ones that are very CB2-esque (CB2 is owned by Crate & Barrel) except they arent exorbitantly priced. Pots are also currently 40% off. I point this out because it seems like a lot of nurseries tend to carry very traditional, homey, kitschy, colorfully glazed ceramic *coughuglycough* pots that looked like they sat for awhile because no one wants em. Horrocks has some traditional style pots, but they also cater to more subdued contemporary tastes which I greatly appreciate and Im lucky to live near this store. The bread is good (I love French baguettes) and they mark down day-old bread. They carry retro candy including salt water taffy in all kinds of flavors and Cow Tales.Alcohol isnt my thing, but they also have a huge selection of wines and craft beer. Amazing deli/soup section with an area nearby that you can sit down and eat, tons of cheeses and overall good produce. I was however disappointed by the kale I saw here recently and didnt buy because they were very floppy and sad looking. I like them with some vibrancy and crunch as the main leafy green in my smoothies. They also carry some pretty unique gifts, but they are a bit spendy because you cant really find what you see here elsewhere and I get the feeling its locally sourced or from various artisans and I would be happy to support that. Great selection of fresh cut florals and people who can make beautiful arrangements. Check-out is always fast and speedy. I could go on and on. I should just basically live here. See pics.
I was visiting from chgo, had been looking for some Red Haven peaches 🍑 . I found them there.
Very nice store alot of interesting finds
Love the quality, selection and prices, especially compared to flowerland. Most recently purchased two lovely geums there. Will be back.
Great experience. Fresh produce, great butcher counter, customer service is always a priority. Today my cashier was still assisting the customer before me. He had limited English skills and was trying to communicate a price for some walnuts. The cashier patiently communicated that there was a sale price. There was sign language and pointing and drawing on the counter until he understood he was getting a discounted price and everyone was smiling@
Any house plant I’ve bought from here tends to live longer! They have a great selection, and there are always people around to help.
This store is my happy place. The staff are all so helpful and friendly, they have a huge selection of meats, cheeses, candy, drinks, plants, garden supplies, etc. I could spend hours here.
Always my favorite store. 1st rime I got raspberries that were molded. But ill take them back and their good about that. But love the different varieties of food they have there.
Sugar Free Section is the Greatest :)
Isaiah from the garden center really helped me out looking for the right type of birdseed. I recently domesticated a couple of crows in my neighborhood and wasnt really sure what type I should buy, up until last week Id just leave my garbage can open for them to eat or else theyd just stare at me through my window. He was very helpful and showed me all the options that were available and brands that would work for crows. My crows LOVE the birdseed! Will be back to buy more when I have either tamed more crows, or run out of birdseed!! Thanks!
Unique grocery and nursery combo. Reminds me of early childhood shopping with my parents.
Got more than what we went there for,, the prices were great. Would recommend to anyone.
Love Horrocks! Cant keep wife out of the market.
I love the products here at Horrocks. The red grapes are so sweet it makes your lips pucker up. The produce is always fully stocked. When entering the store, you are presented with friendly smiles. The shopping carts are stocked with cleaning supplies so everyone can stay safe but you have to bring your own face coverings. Once you get inside of the actual store, the aroma of freshly popped popcorn delights your senses. The music atmosphere changes according to the time of day. The prices are slightly higher than a typical grocery store. They do sale a large amount of gluten free foods and worldly products.
Had all the items I wanted except for canned peaches....😝
Great selection of flowers and nice deals on produces, great selection of beers. Nice selection of bulk coffee and tea. Deli pizza is great, friendly staff.
Amazing place to shop. Fresh, lively, fun and the kids love going. Our favorite place to shop
Unique brands of food, items, and more await inside. Horrocks Market is a great place to get delicious coffees, deli meats, and wide arranges of cheese.Im new to the area so I havent been coming here for that long but Ive had nothing but great experiences while here.
Always a great experience! New products to try every time we go. LOVE
Im always impressed. Theyve got a great selection!
Love shopping here! You can find all sorts of fun and new things and the produce is amazing.
