If I could leave no stars, I would. But after reading all of the negative reviews left prior to mine - I strangely feel better, as we were not the only ones this happened to! To keep a long story short, the exterior of this place is cool from afar. Up close, it’s damaged and dilapidated. Not taken care of at all. “Mini golf course” has ripped greens; not playable at all. Decided to go inside - HUGE mistake. The lady that was there is seriously something else. Rude doesn’t even begin to describe it. Masks aren’t mandatory in Key Largo. But I believe private businesses can ask that you wear one. We weren’t all of 1 step into this place, when she points to my 4 year old son and yells “get him out of here!”! I thought my ears were playing tricks on me… so I asked her to repeat that…. Said the same thing again and added “put a mask on that kid”…. My son now slightly frightened at being yelled at by some scary looking woman that we don’t know - I politely told her we don’t have masks as they aren’t mandatory - trying to keep the exchange light, as I want my son to grow up handling situations like these with dignity and not stoop down to this thing’s level. We didn’t waste any more breath or stick around to hear what she was going to say next - and turned around to head back to our vehicle and she slams the store’s front door right behind us and locked it…! As I’m writing this and replaying it in my mind, I’m still just straight up flabbergasted! Pretty sure I’ve never experienced this level of rudeness in my entire life. If you’re looking for somewhere to go to get treated like complete poop and made to feel like you did something wrong even before you step foot fully into the store - this is the place for you! Otherwise - head north a block to Largo Cargo, where they are total sweethearts AND their store is full of adorable, unique items. I’m so glad we stopped there after the rudeness, as it was our last stop on our way back home, and they made up for it all!
Horrible customer service!! My wife and I were barely in the front door with our teenage daughter when we heard a womans voice ( at least I think it was, couldnt even see them) yelling at us to put a mask on our daughter or get out! Masks are NOT mandatory in Florida, but its up to business to ask for the customers to wear one. We usually do if are asked or have signs but we didnt even have the chance before the yelling. Never asked if we were vaccinated or not just yelled. Well we wont be back for sure! I have found much better places to spend my hard earned money rather than a rude establishment. Listen to these reviews, or see for yourself. They are true.
Avoid. Didnt even make it in the door before some angry voice was screaming about masks. Not sure if the owner is seriously scared of covid or just trying to protect us from the looming lung cancer as a result of the cigarette smoke pouring out the front door. Just got in the car and left. No time for people or business that operate this way. Hundreds of other souvenir shops in the Keys that would be happy to take my cash.
I don’t recommend stopping here. We had a similar experience as others with the rudeness. We started to walk in and the lady at the counter told us we needed mashed so I responded ok and we turned to go back and get them (they are no longer required, it is now up to each place of business if they want you to wear one). Just before closing the door, she said in quite a nasty tone “all of you”. Not sure why she would have thought that we wouldn’t understand that we all had to have a mask on but at that point we decided we’d rather spend our money elsewhere. We went north a mile or so to Largo Cargo and was treated wonderfully!I don’t waste my time around nasty attitudes.
“YoU bEtTeR dElEtE aNy PhOtO yOu ToOk. I’m TiReD oF pEoPlE sTeAlInG mY iDeAS” - the owner who looks like she’s half a pack of cigarettes away from the crypt. Also, it’s not 1975. Yes, you have to pay merchant fees on credit cards. Nobody uses cash anymore. There’s a difference between taking photos of the entire store to steal ideas and go into business myself and asking a friend if they’d like an item. The junk she sells is a cheap ripoff of other merchandise sold elsewhere in the Keys, so she’s probably afraid she’ll be sued for lazy copywriting. She also talks to her customers like they’re all going to steal and sneeze/make fecal all over her toilet of a store. If this lady went out of business today, Key Largo would be a better place.
Don’t listen to the good reviews bc it’s so bad. The merchandise may be cute but the owner actually followed us around and was really rude. bad energy. don’t recommend it.
Yummmmm! Loved my Root Beer Float❣️ thank you for that and the super fun back patio experience! Great place for photos. Thank you for being on Key largo!!!
Ignore the bad reviews. I did and spent all of my souvenir money at this shop. There is alot to look at here. This shop has a lot of handmade tikis, wood sculptures, metal art and more. If you ask the shop owner about them she will tell you a little about the maker of these handcrafted goods. I found tiki sculptures, masks, and metal fish art here that was cheaper than other stores and were not mass produced like many other shops. The shop owner appreciates if you wear a mask. She just wants to protect herself and that is understandable in these times.
Wow...I was out walking and planned to purchase a flag I had seen...opened the door and did not have a mask on...I did not see the sales lady but she sure belted out that I cant come in without a mask....I had one in my pocket...but the rudeness turned me off and I told myself forget it😊and went my way. Yes...if they still mandate a mask I gave no problem but dont act like I committed a crime.
Dont go in- the folks are rude!!
Lotta great stuff!
This place has very rude staff, the energy there was very bad, don’t recommend
Owner was rude and followed us trying to not make it noticeable
Be careful you get masked Shamed. Even if you are Vaccinated and showed proof. Very poor Customer service.
Horrible customer service. My young daughter got very rudely yelled at by right upon entering the establishment for not having a mask on (she had forgot it in the car the rest of the party had them on). They then proceeded to eye us and follow us throughout our stay. I would not recommend shopping here, very horrible experience.
Perfect place to decor your bra house. Gracious counter help.
My family and I have been coming here for years (more so for the decorative Keys items rather than the food options) and have made more than a handful of purchases here. Aside from prices going up in recent years, the customer service we have continually received from the owners of the establishment is an absolute joke. You would think that small business owners would be warm and welcoming to potential customers, but the last several times in this store, the husband and wife ownership pair have been so rude that it’s made my family really feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Despite the small size of the shop, the owners have on more than one occasion not so subtly followed us around the store to see what we’re doing, making the buying experience very, very awkward. On another occasion where we were passing through Key Largo, we showed up to their store maybe 5 minutes after “closing”, with the owners still in the shop. My dad asked the male owner (I assume Dale) if we could come in to potentially buy something, as we have many times on our ride back to Miami, and we were denied at the door. I’m not in the retail sphere, but I would imagine it’s bad for the bottom dollar of a business to turn away paying customers...Despite these increasingly unnerving instances, my father still insists on stopping in to make purchases whenever we’re down in the Keys. He appears to be the only member of my family that for some odd reason still has faith in this place. If you plan on stopping in, I truly hope that you have better experiences than I have had here. This may be the only 1-star review I’ve ever left, but it’s definitely for good reason. I personally will not be back!
Terrible experience, dont even enter the doors. Very toxic couple working there. They were scary. Go to Marine Thrift store better quality and great owners:) First of all if you go there, please know that there is not a law that you must pay for an item if it breaks while you are in the store. They ganged up on me and my 1 year old baby saying I have to pay retail price for a broken turtle, only $13. I offered to pay them cost to replace the turtle. They wrote down my license plate, threatened to call the cops on me and hire a lawyer to charge me with theft. I kindly stood there offering to pay them cost. I eventually paid them $14 and didnt stick around for the change because I was scared. They did not give me a receipt or use the cash-register to ring it in. The man actually came in to the parking lot and yelled at me as another customer approached and stood by my car for me so I could put in my baby and leave. While the women working at the store wrote down my license plate number one more time, even though her husband already did. What I would have spent that day was $120 on decorations for my 1 year olds room. Instead I have a broken turtle that smells like toxic paint.
Stopped by to get décor for my new home and as I walked in I was approached at the door by a lady that worked there, she was vocally aggressive about the empty cup that I was carrying, I politely asked if she had a trash can so I can throw it away and she loudly and rudely said “no you need to get out of here with that cup” and as I said how bad customer service was she said I don’t care, get out. It is a shame that establishments like this one can ruin such an amazing experience me and my family had at the keys. There is a way to talk to customers maam.
Its a nice little shop with a putt-putt right next door. Great spot for some and games.
Awesome assortment of eclectic things! I stopped by to support a local LGBT friendly establishment and was pleasantly surprised by what was inside! Prices were VERY reasonable.
The Best hotdogs 🌭 nice shop n very friendly and helpful staff
Great unique items. Very good prices. Will do special orders also. Love this place.
Nice place for gifts and souvenirs.
Worst customer service. They accused me of stealing when I clearly put a necklace back I would never steal much less a 3 dollar necklace. The root beer float was good, but the eye roll i got for using a card bc i didnt have cash ruined that. Will never shop here again
Unique art pieces and nautical decor and a heck of a lot more affordable than other stores in the area.
Great place to shop. Super friendly and they have the lowest prices Ive see in the Keys. Love the place
