A great deal of books! I wish I would have had more time to explore. Some of the books are very old in the showcase. Does not have a lot of room to navigate around people.

This is place is a TREASURE & a true piece of Key Wests history! Hemingway DID hang out here + Owners Suze & Paul are The Nicest People & The Most Knowledgeable about BOOKS. If they dont have it, theyll get it for you - from rare & antique, to new!I own Key West Local Luxe - the jewelry store next door & have been their neighbors for 11yrs - So, trust me on this!

The owner was incredibly knowledgeable and helped my wife pick up a few locally inscribed books to add to her collection. A city treasure for bibliophiles.

Stopped in on a whim while walking down Duval, I love used book stores, you never know what you might find. They didnt have the one I was looking for but had a good selection. The lady(Im guessing owner) was happy and was an absolute pleasure to visit with while we were there(we spent more time talking than shopping)😂. Definitely stop in for a book to read on the drive out or plane home

Great bookstore in Key West. I finished my book when I traveled to the Keys and stopped here for another book. The woman, who I am assuming is the owner, was incredibly helpful and just great to talk to. She shared some interesting books she had read and then recommended to me Charlottes Story. An incredible book that I finished on my flight home from the Keys! I wish they had an online store! I would be happy to buy a copy and have it shipped to Buffalo to help support the shop!EDIT: Just checked the website and they do ship! SCORE!

Amazing owner, Suzanne, who has a plethora of knowledge on local & popular authors. If you are a book lover; this shop is a must stop when in town. I purchased Charlotte’s Story & can’t wait to dive into Key West in the 1930s. This Island bookstore even has books that were recently released. I could only image being a local who depends on the Key West Island Bookstore for my reading adventures.

A special off the main street exploration of unique titles......and subjects!

Amazing service, especially from a distance. I don’t live in Florida anymore, but I still have a taste for Florida books. (Dorsey, Hiaasen, etc). Suzanne gets me copies, and if we ever get back to in person book tours, she can get me a signed copy. And as a retired professor, it is delightful to find a bookstore run by dedicated young people.

Packed bookstore with a kind, chill owner that lets you wander unmolested. If you are looking for a book, just ask. She can look it up and tell you if she has it. Keep in mind her store is a mixture of new and secondhand books. But, it is reasonably well organized by genre. Great prices on resales.

Outstanding experience with this bookstore. The representative stayed open for me and was very helpful in pointing me to the books on my list. If you’re in Key West and want a book, this is the place!

My son and I visited Key West Island Bookstore because he wanted to spend his birthday money and loves books. It was our first time visiting. I tried to find books hed be interested in but had no success. However, I did find one for myself. I told the woman that was ringing me up what he was interested in and she took him around the store and he came back with 3 books in less than 5 minutes. She knew exactly where to take him and what to show him. I was very impressed with the customer service and the time she took with my son. Its been 3 months since our visit and he still carries the books with him daily even though he knows ever car fact that is in each one.

Amazing bookstore, and sadly a dieing breed in this country. The proprietress is truly the selling point of this little gem in key west. She is knowledgeable, and seems to know just the right book for a reader wandering into her shop.

Friendly owner & great selection

One of the last holdouts, a great little book store in downtown Key West. The store has a lot of great authors, all the oldies, and a bunch of Hometown authors with a variety of books beyond your imagination. Anything from far off lands and stories about the war in Iraq, too first-person account of running a strip club in Key West, and even an iguana cookbook, just in case you get the urge to get a little chicken of the tree. Stop by tell the girls hi and get yourself something to read the old fashion way.

Wonderful old fashion bookstore. I picked up several used books that Ive never seen any where else. Staff were great!

Some of the most customer service oriented people I’ve ever had the pleasure to do business with. We had a poster we wanted to take back with us and they came to the rescue! (After calling all art galleries, CVS and Walgreens, even stopping at the USPS, no luck).They were quick to help me get it rolled and secured, even taping it up for us! Though they expected nothing, but of course I purchased a book. Support this business! They are amazing!

Concerning the SFF section, minimal Science Fiction, mostly Fantasy. Fair prices. Fun to browse. Store keeper was helpful.

Popped in to find a particular title. The shop had the second and third iterations of the story but not the first. They happily ordered it, had it shipped and called me when it came in. Very happy considering my home town library was out of copies in both paper and electronic versions. Thank you!

Love this place! The owners love books, and they have a collection of rare and prized books that cannot be found anywhere else in the keys. Collections geared to everyone, at all ages. My favorite hideaway to browse for hours...

Very quaint local bookstore with friendly staff. New and used books of all varieties. New books are not discounted, so hard to pay full price when you can order for less. But used books very fairly priced and I like to buy local when traveling.

This book store has been a part of Key West history for decades. Authentic bookstore atmosphere. Excellent rich and varied selection. Everything from hot off the press New York Times best sellers to local authors and the always exciting bin of used books. The owner knows her stuff, shes a reader and a lovely lady. If you dont know what you want to read she will help you figure it out, and if you do know what you want to read she knows exactly where its sitting on a shelf. There are also a wealth of excellent gift items to bring home after your trip to beautiful Key West.

Atmosphere, selection, range. Feel comfortable and the manager is most knowledgeable and perceptive when making suggestions. Seems to read your mind. Never feel so well served, especially when I walked in to spend ten and leave grateful to have spent $50-100. I may be a book a holiday (admittedly), but this place helps me feed my spirit and soul. In all other bookstores, Im on my own with that. This place and its staff are special. Talk to them.

Best book shop

Ive been shopping at this bookstore for many years, and the ownership recently changed. I went in a couple of weeks ago to buy Book 1 of a series, and Books 2 and 3 were on the shelf, all new. I went in today to buy Book 2. It was the only copy left, and was very clearly battered and used. I asked the owner about the price, and she said it was a new book. I told her the book clearly looked used. She said no, we just got that book in this week, and in the humidity the covers curl like that - it is a new book.So, she lied right to my face. Plus, she offers very little for your used books - far less than the previous owner.Time for me to find another bookstore.

A peaceful place to discuss books at leisure with friends and the owner! Collection is an exciting mix of bestsellers, classics, antique books and more.Some books are not as cheap as you might find online. If price is your sole concern, youd be well served by attending a local library where you can borrow books for free. I still do this as a supplement to my bookstore browsing/shopping. It seems some negative reviews are quite subjective, merely discussing dollars and cents.Local bookstores foster independent thought and scholarly discussion; a chance to understand those who are not like us. Nowadays its too often that local bookstores fold in the presence of the online megastores. But those megastores, do they come to our town, support local authors? Create safe spaces for ideas? Food for thought for readers out there...

We were staying on Cudjoe Key and couldnt find a bookstore anywhere. We found this place in Key West and enjoyed not only picking up a few books but looking through what they had used and new. Staff was very friendly.

After settling into Key West I found this inviting shop one afternoon and was cast back in memory to Paris and a lovely book store at Rue de la Bucherie: Shakespeare and Company. It remains very much as it was during my year of trekking with backpack. So finding this jewel in Key West was a lovely reminder. The space has been reduced in size to its advantage and the organization of subjects and categories is masterful. If you have been in Key West and are discovering the cosmopolitan draw of this Island than a visit is worth your time. Truly, to be among this collection is a return to a vanishing era. You will be reminded of “84 Charing Cross Road.”

Great bookstore that has alot of titles youd not expect at a vacation bookstore as its more than just a beach novel kinda place. Staff is friendly, it is air conditioned which is always nice in EYW, and reasonably priced.

Was nice. But she spent all our money in there dammit.

Nothing is organized, and many of the books that there are seem to be of the variety that no one else wants (i.e. romance novels and non-fiction books from the 80s and 90s). They did have a few interesting books, but they werent any cheaper than they would be new, when I could actually support the author. There were also several used books which were less than ten years old and yet cost far more there than the original sell price on the back. I am a book lover, and have lost hours in many a used bookstore, but this was a disappointment.

Super progressive bookstore! I bought some fascinating feminist studies nonfiction, and some Ayn Rand for sh*ts & giggles.
